Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne has now lost two of the last three games.
Insight: After not losing in regulation through his first six starts, Rinne was able to stop only 26-of-30 shots in Friday's loss to Calgary. Rinne still has good numbers (6-2-1, 1.97 GA, .927 SV%), and should be a solid performer all season.
Description: Predators winger James Neal should have added motivation on Saturday facing the Penguins for the first time since the offseason trade.
Insight: Neal did not have a very good playoff season last spring, which resulted in a trade to Nashville for Patrick Hornqvist and Nick Spalling. Neal and Hornqvist should be motivated to play well on Saturday against their former teams. Neal has five goals in his last four games, including a hat trick on Thursday.
Description: Penguins right winger Patric Hornqvist will be facing his old team on Saturday night in Nashville.
Insight: Hornqvist, along with Nick Spaling, are returning to Nashville for the first time since the offseason trade that sent James Neal to the Predators for Hornqvist and Spaling. The deal has worked out for both sides so far.
Description: Penguins right winger Patric Hornqvist scored two goals in Pittsburgh's, 3-1, victory over the Islanders on Saturday.
Insight: Hornqvist scored on a deflection off a slap shot from Evgeni Malkin on the power play. His second goal came was an empty-netter with less than two minutes left in the game. Hornqvist registered 12 shots on net and was minus-one. He also had an assist.
Description: Predators defenseman Shea Weber scored a goal in the season opener against the Senators on Thursday.
Insight: Weber gave the Predators a 2-1 lead about halfway through the third period. Weber scored on a backhanded shot set up by Ryan Ellis and Paul Gaustad. The defenseman also had two penalty minutes and a plus-one rating. Nashville held on to win, 3-2.
Description: Nashville left wing Viktor Stalberg (lower body) has been placed on the injured reserve.
Insight: Stalberg was expected to miss 2-4 weeks from the time of the injury and could return after another 10 days or so. he totaled just 18 points in 70 games last season and has little value to fantasy owners even when healthy. Nashville is a bit short-handed on the left side with Matt Cullen also sidelined.
Description: Nashville center Olli Jokinen is getting up there in age and the once 90-point scorer will be lucky to put up half that total in 2014-15.
Insight: Jokinen is expected to play between Gabriel Bourque and Craig Smith on the second line to start the season, but the Predators are solid up the middle and there is no guarantee he'll be there all season particularly after Mike Fisher returns from an Achilles injury.
Description: Nashville winger James Neal will be in for a shock when he looks to his center and it will no longer be Evgeni Malkin or Sidney Crosby.
Insight: Neal's fantasy value has to take a hit depite being on the Predators' top line. We have him with 28 goals and 50 points starting alongside Mike Ribeiro and Colin Wilson. he posted 61 points in 59 games last season.
Description: Penguins new right winger Patric Hornqvist is poised to be one of the biggest fantasy sleepers this season.
Insight: Hornqvist is expected to skate on a scoring line with Evgeni Malkin and the team's top power-play line. The 27-year-old scored a career-high 53 points last season, and we expect him exceed that total by 10 points or more. Hornqvist could also challenge his career-high 30-goal mark he set back in 2009-2010 with Nashville.
Description: Predators center Mike Fisher suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and will miss the next four-to-six months, according to predators.nhl.com.
Insight: While Fisher isn't great, he's the Predators top center and was expected to play with newly acquired winger James Neal. Either Matt Cullen or Colin Wilson will play with Neal while Fisher is out. Obviously, both are a big step down from Evgeni Malkin.

Insight: Neal's fantasy value will never be higher than it was in Pittsburgh where he got to play alongside MVP winners Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Despite a weaker supporting cast, Neal is still a talented player and should score his fair share of goals for the Predators next season.
Description: Nashville defenseman Roman Josi had two points Sunday to reach 40 points for the first time.
Insight: Josi scored 13 goals and added 27 assists in 72 games this season. The 23-year-old was able to provide a capable complement to Shea Weber after the Predators lost Ryan Suter prior to last season.
Description: Nashville center Matt Cullen has collected six points (three goals) in his last three games.
Insight: The 37-year-old Cullen (9 G, 21 A) had two goals Tuesday against the Avalanche. Prior to Saturday he didn't have a multi-point game since Jan. 24. Cullen has been around since 1997, but he's never had a 50-point season.
Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne (hip) is the scheduled starter for Tuesday's game against the Penguins.
Insight: Rinne has been out with a hip infection since October. The Predators will probably still give Carter Hutton some starts while Rinne works his way back, but Rinne should get the majority of the starts. He should be added in all leagues but isn't a recommended option Tuesday against the high-powered Penguins.
Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne (hip) made his first rehab start at AHL Milwaukee, stopping 16 of 17 shots.
Insight: Rinne has been out with a hip infection since October. He'll likely still need a week or more to get back into playing shape. Carter Hutton has been in net for most of the Nashville games of late and is 14-9-4 with a 2.84 GAA and .904 SV%, but when Rinne is ready the job is his.
Description: According to the Tennessean, Predators goalie Pekka Rinne (hip) has been sent to the AHL for conditioning.
Insight: Rinne has been practicing with the team for about a week and received permission to ramp up his level of activity on Monday, but there is still no timetable for his return. He has been out with a hip infection since October.
Description: Craig Smith provided both Nashville goals Thursday in a loss to Minnesota.
Insight: Smith seems to be trending in the right direction. He's notched a point in four of his last five contests with a +4 rating during that span. Smith needs one more point to eclipse his career-high.
Description: According to the Tennessean, Predators goalie Pekka Rinne (hip) hasn't been cleared to practice but is allowed to work out and skate. Rinne hasn't played since Oct. 22. He has not encountered any setbacks in his recovery from a bacterial infection in his hip, but the Predators are taking precautions to ensure the infection is managed and controlled.
Insight: "He really hasn't done much on the ice," coach Barry Trotz said. "But he's starting to move around in terms of skating and getting the muscle memory of moving around on the ice. It hasn't been too punishing or anything like that. But it's not going to be a quick process. They're doing it very methodically and cautiously. This is for the long term." Carter Hutton has gone 6-1-1 in his last seven starts and Devan Dubnyk has made just two starts in three weeks since being acquired from Edmonton.
Description: Nashville center Matt Cullen (upper body) did not play Friday and is questionable for Saturday's game against St. Louis.
Insight: Cullen is targeting Tuesday for a return. He has five goals and 22 points. The 37-year-old has had plenty of 40-point seasons, but has never reached 50 in his career. That won't happen in 2013-14 either.
Description: Nashville defenseman Shea Weber (upper body) missed Thursday's practice and is questionable for Friday's game. SOURCE: Associated Press
Insight: Weber left Tuesday's game and it's not a good sign that he wasn't ready to practice even after having the off day Wednesday. Weber has 24 points in his last 26 games and would leave a big hole on fantasy rosters.
Description: Nashville defenseman Shea Weber left Tuesday's game due to a back injury.
Insight: Weber is one of the NHL's workhorses, skating nearly 27 minutes per game. With 24 points in his last 26 games, Weber would be a huge loss for fantasy owners, the Predators and Team Canada if he has to sit out.
Description: Predators left wing Eric Nystrom had a career night Friday against Calgary.
Insight: Nystrom collected a career-high four goals on seven shots. Nashville coach Barry Trotz defied all logic by choosing not to use Nystrom in the shootout. The Predators wound up losing 5-4 with Nystrom accounting for all four Nashville goals.
Description: The Rangers have traded defenseman Michael Del Zotto to the Predators for defenseman Kevin Klein, according to Darren Dreger of tsn.ca.
Insight: Del Zotto did not earn the favor of new coach Alain Vigneault and was made a healthy scratch on many occasions this season. In 42 games, he has played a career-low 17:45 and generated two goals and 11 points in 42 games. The Predators have Shea Weber, Roman Josi and Seth Jones and aren't going to use Del Zotto on the power play, so he'll have limited fantasy appeal.
Description: The Oilers have traded netminder Devan Dubnyk to the Predators for center Matt Hendricks. SOURCE: Pierre LeBrun, ESPN
Insight: He'll split time with Marek Mazanec and Carter Hutton in net. Dubnyk hasn't been particularly impressive. In fact, he's been the opposite of that with just a 3.36 GAA and a .894 save percentage in 32 games this season. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere.
Description: Predators center Mike Fisher scored his 12th goal of the season Saturday.
Insight: Fisher didn't have a point in the previous two games but he's put up 11 in his last eight. Fisher has been around for a long time and has a career high of just 53 points so fantasy owners shouldn't expect this to continue, but you should ride out the hot streak.
Description: Nashville center Mike Fisher had his best game of the season Saturday in a win over Los Angeles.
Insight: Fisher's goal with 27 seconds left in regulation broke a 2-2 tie. He had a hand in all three Predators goals on Saturday, finishing with two goals and one assist. Fisher has just nine goals for the season so fantasy owners shouldn't expect this to become a nightly occurrence.
Description: According to nhl.com, Predators defenseman Seth Jones appears to be OK one day after getting hit in the face by a puck.
Insight: Jones was struck in the face by a deflected shot from Montreal's Andrei Markov and had to get stitches, but he was at practice Sunday and told the Tennessean that his visor absorbed part of the blow.
Description: Nashville defenseman Shea Weber has provided fantasy owners with eight points in seven games since returning from an eye injury.
Insight: Weber was hit with a puck on Nov. 28 and missed three games, but he's been on fire since rejoining the lineup. He had a goal and one assist Saturday, bringing him to 20 points (nine goals) in 33 games this season.
Description: Predators rookie defenseman Seth Jones left Saturday's game after a slapshot from P.K. Subban ricocheted into his face.
Insight: He needed to get stitches for his injury, according to nhl.com. Jones started the season playing big minutes with Shea Weber on the team's No. 1 defensive pairing, but he was bumped down in favor of Roman Josi and skated just 12.5 minutes per game over his last five.
Description: According to predators.nhl.com, Pekka Rinne (hip) will remain on limited activity for two more weeks before considering more strenuous activity.
Insight: Rinne has not encountered any setbacks in his recovery from a bacterial infection in his hip, but the Predators are taking precautions to ensure the infection is managed and controlled. Carter Hutton and Marek Mazanec will continue to handle goaltending duties into January.
Description: Nashville defenseman Roman Josi has two goals and five points during a four-game scoring streak.
Insight: Josi missed most of October with a concussion and didn't do much in November, but the 23-year-old has found his groove this month. He's skating nearly 25 minutes per game this season and is getting time with Shea Weber and on the top power-play unit.
Description: Nashville defenseman Shea Weber (eye) will play Saturday against the Capitals, according to Willy Daunic of 1025thegame.com.
Insight: Weber will wear a visor after being hit in the eye with a puck on Nov. 28 and missing three games. He has seven goals this season but he's added just five assists, 55 SOG and a -7 in 26 games.
Description: Nashville goalie Marek Mazanec continued his recent stretch of dominance with a 19-save shutout Wednesday at Columbus.
Insight: The 22-year-old Mazanec has run away with Nashville's starting job over the last 10 days. He's gone 5-1 with a 1.34 GAA and a .955 SV% over his last six starts and should be added in all leagues.
Description: Predators center Filip Forsberg is questionable for Monday's game against Phoenix due to an upper body injury.
Insight: Forsberg, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, has five points in 12 games but is also a -8. The 19-year-old has skated less than 12 minutes per game this season and needs more work to hone his game.
