Ducks use strong second period to power past Avalanche
Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Palmieri scored two goals in a six-goal second period for the Anaheim Ducks, who defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 6-4, on Friday.
Daniel Winnik, Corey Perry, Ben Lovejoy, and Mathieu Perreault also lit the lamp as the Ducks snapped a four-game skid. Cam Fowler, Nick Bonino, and Ryan Getzlaf all contributed two assists each. Jonas Hiller turned aside 34 shots for the victory.
Jamie McGinn supplied two goals, while John Mitchell and Gabriel Landeskog also scored. Ryan O'Reilly added two helpers for the Avalanche, who won two games and six of their last seven entering the contest.
Semyon Varlamov allowed five goals and Jean-Sebastian Giguere entered the game in the second to turn aside 8-of-9 Anaheim shots in relief.
