NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, March 12th (All times Eastern)

Denver Nuggets (27-36) at Orlando Magic (19-46), 7 p.m.

( - The Denver Nuggets are winless on their current road trip, but will try to rectify that, starting Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic.

After a two-game winning streak, which came on the heels of a six-game slide, the Nuggets dropped the first two of this five-game sojourn through the southern part of the U.S.

Denver fell Sunday in New Orleans, losing in overtime by a 111-107 tally. One night later, the Charlotte Bobcats prevailed, 105-98, to give the Nuggets a 3-13 record in their last 16.

Ty Lawson poured in 24 points and dished out six assists and Aaron Brooks finished with 16 points off the bench for the Nuggets. Kenneth Faried (15) and J.J. Hickson (11) also finished with double-figure point totals.

"We didn't seem to get engaged in the game until the end when we were trying to scramble and come back. The game was in the balance all night long and we couldn't seem to get over the hump. They made the plays that they need to make down the stretch and we didn't," said Nuggets coach Brian Shaw.

The Nuggets will visit the two-time defending champion Miami Heat on Friday, then close the trip Saturday night in Atlanta.

The Magic have lost three straight, although the last two came outside the comfy confines of Disney World.

After a home loss to the Houston Rockets, Orlando fell by nine in San Antonio on Saturday, then by seven in Milwaukee on Monday night.

Maurice Harkless led seven Orlando scorers in double figures with 14 points and Nikola Vucevic posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Jameer Nelson chipped in 13 points and seven assists and Arron Afflalo and Victor Oladipo finished with 12 points apiece for the Magic. Tobias Harris added 11 and Kyle O'Quinn rounded out of the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

"(It) was a similar formula from the last time we were here," said Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn of Milwaukee's gameplan for them. "Really they were just getting to the paint and making us react to their penetration."

The Magic will host the Washington Wizards on Friday night, then hit the road to visit Golden State, Phoenix, Utah and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nuggets have won two straight and four of five against the Magic. Orlando is 3-1 in its last four as the host against the visitors from the Rocky Mountains.
