The Rays like to delay the arbitration/free agent block on all their young players and manager Joe Maddon thinks it's easier for those players to join the team while the season is in progress. The 21-year-old has proven he is ready for the big leagues, but Kansas City doesn't want to cast aside beloved clubhouse guy Jeff Francoeur, especially after the Royals signed him to a contract extension in the offseason. Myers, the No. 2 prospect in Kansas City's organization according to MLB.com, took major league veteran starter Roy Oswalt deep for a grand slam Thursday. | Insight: Myers is hitting .335 with 21 homers and a .726 slugging percentage in 56 games spread between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. He's currently eligible at catcher in Yahoo! leagues and he's still available in 98 percent of them, so don't hesitate to make the add. The Royals currently have Alex Gordon and Jeff Francoeur blocking Myers' path to the big leagues, but if he keeps hitting so many bombs at Triple-A the Royals will be forced to bring him up.
