Description: Rays top prospect Wil Myers has been reassigned to minor league camp.
Insight: Myers hit .286 in 17 games for the big club this spring. A consensus top five prospect, the 22-year-old should make his major league debut sometime in 2013.

Description: Rays outfielder Wil Myers, who was acquired from the Royals for James Shields, won't be rushed to the majors. The Rays like to delay the arbitration/free agent block on all their young players and manager Joe Maddon thinks it's easier for those players to join the team while the season is in progress. SOURCE: Tampa Tribune
Insight: "I've always felt that it should be easier for a young player to make the team when the season in progress as opposed to out of spring training," Maddon said. "When they make the team out of spring training expectations get raised even higher, and I think if you're really looking for a young man to apply pressure to himself it's then, when he makes it out of camp and Opening Day comes." While the wait for Myers' debut will be just a little bit longer, we expect him to be called up sometime in April.

Description: The Royals have dealt top prospect Wil Myers to the Tampa Bay Rays in a blockbuster deal for James Shields and Wade Davis.
Insight: Myers is regarded as the No. 1 hitting prospect in baseball after hitting .314 and slugging .600 with 37 homers and 109 RBIs between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He'll likely be in Tampa Bay's lineup on Opening Day.

7/24/2012 10:44:00 PM
Description: Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers has cooled a bit as of late, but he still has 29 homers and 23 doubles in 94 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season.
Insight: Myers' Triple-A average has fallen below .300, but he's still slugging .595 and getting on base at a .378 clip. The outfielder's path to the big leagues is still blocked by Jeff Francoeur, but perhaps the Royals will be able to move the veteran before the trade deadline.

7/11/2012 10:49:00 PM
Description: Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers shined among the best Triple-A players Wednesday at the Triple-A All-Star game. Myers singled in a run in the first inning and double and scored in the fourth to lead the PCL to its first victory over the International League in four years.
Insight: Myers has combined for 27 homers, 72 RBIs and a .327/.395/.636 slash in 83 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season. The 21-year-old has proven he is ready for the big leagues, but Kansas City doesn't want to cast aside beloved clubhouse guy Jeff Francoeur, especially after the Royals signed him to a contract extension in the offseason. Still, with the Royals only 7.5 games out of a Wild Card spot despite being 10 games under .500, we may see Myers get a promotion this month.

6/8/2012 4:56:00 PM
Description: Just when it seemed like Wil Myers couldn't give the Royals any more reasons to promote him, the 21-year-old outfielder gave them another one. Myers, the No. 2 prospect in Kansas City's organization according to MLB.com, took major league veteran starter Roy Oswalt deep for a grand slam Thursday.
Insight: Myers is hitting .335 with 21 homers and a .726 slugging percentage in 56 games spread between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. He's currently eligible at catcher in Yahoo! leagues and he's still available in 98 percent of them, so don't hesitate to make the add. The Royals currently have Alex Gordon and Jeff Francoeur blocking Myers' path to the big leagues, but if he keeps hitting so many bombs at Triple-A the Royals will be forced to bring him up. He likely has way more upside than any player you can add from the free agent wire right now.

6/6/2012 6:46:00 PM
Description: Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers will not be promoted this weekend with Kansas City playing in Pittsburgh, Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports.
Insight: Myers is hitting .337 with 20 homers and 48 RBIs over 232 plate appearances split between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. Given the impact Mike Trout and Bryce Harper have had since their respective callups, the 21-year-old Myers will be a top target once he's called up.

5/20/2012 3:22:00 PM
Description: Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers went 5-for-9 with a double, a triple and two RBIs in two games since he was promoted to Triple-A Omaha.
Insight: Myers, currently the No. 17 prospect on MLB.com's top 100 list, hit .343 with 13 homers and 30 RBIs in 134 at-bats at Double-A Northwest Arkansas. Myers' stay at Omaha might be a short one, as the big league club may come calling soon if he continues to rake like this.

5/18/2012 2:46:00 PM
Description: Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers has been promoted from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to Triple-A Omaha after ripping through Douple-A pitching to the tune of a .343 batting average with 13 HR, 30 RBI and a 1.146 OPS.
Insight: Should he continue to pound the ball at Omaha, where he went 2-for-5 in his first start, Myers could end the season with the "big" club. The Royals are averaging just 4.02 runs-per-game and need a boost from somewhere if they are going to make any noise in the AL Central.

4/30/2012 9:38:00 PM
Description: Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers went 11-for-22 with four doubles, two homers and six RBIs in six games at Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
Insight: The No. 19 prospect on MLB.com's list of top 100 prospects is hitting .349 with six homers and three steals in 21 games this season. He needed this type of start after hitting .254 in 99 games last season. With 120 games at Double-A, Myers might be due for a promotion to the next level soon.
