Description: Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo walked four batters but held Pittsburgh to two runs on three hits in six innings Wednesday in a loss.
Insight: Gallardo has issued 20 free passes and struck out just 36 batters in 52 innings this season. His velocity is down on both his two-seam and his four-seam fastball and he was serving up line drives on 28.3 percent of his batted balls prior to Wednesday's start.

4/18/2013 8:11:00 PM
Description: Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo limited the Giants to one run on five hits and struck out six over six innings Thursday. It was his first outing since his DUI arrest Tuesday morning.
Insight: Gallardo gave up 26 hits and 12 earned over his first 16 1/3 innings this season. His fastball velocity was down over his first three starts but he averaged 91.67 mph on his four-seamer Thursday, according to Pitchf/x.

4/16/2013 2:08:00 PM
Description: MLB.com is reporting that Brewers' starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo was arrested Tuesday night for drunk driving.
Insight: Gallardo has won 60 games with a 3.68 ERA over the past four seasons. He has struck out at least 200 batters in each of those years. His next scheduled start was to be Thursday afternoon against Matt Cain and the Giants at Miller Park. At this time we don't know if this incident will change that schedule.

3/3/2013 7:32:00 PM
Description: Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo (groin) threw a successful bullpen session Sunday morning and is still on track to pitch in the World Baseball Classic.
Insight: Gallardo has won 60 games with a 3.68 ERA over the past four seasons. He has struck out at least 200 batters in each of those years. The Brewers want Gallardo to start and throw an inning for them on Tuesday in an exhibition game against Team Canada, but the WBC rules dictate a player cannot return to his MLB team after joining his WBC team. Gallardo may have to throw with Mexico in its exhibition Tuesday against Arizona instead.

3/2/2013 2:11:00 PM
Description: Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to groin tightness that first started in his last outing.
Insight: Gallardo was 16-9 with a 3.66 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 204 strikeouts last season. He's planning on playing in the WBC, but only if he's fine when he next tests the groin.

Hot9/18/2012 10:48:00 PM
Description: Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo has not lost since July 26. He earned his 16th victory of the year Tuesday against the Pirates with 6 2/3 scoreless innings.
Insight: Gallardo (16-8, 3.59 ERA) is 8-0 with a stellar 2.69 ERA in 67 innings over his last 10 starts.

Hot7/15/2012 5:36:00 PM
Description: Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo fanned 14 Pirates Sunday to earn his eighth win of the season.
Insight: Gallardo (8-6, 3.59 ERA) held Pittsburgh to one run on four hits in 16th quality start of the year. In those 16 starts, the right-hander is 8-3 with a 2.34 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in 103 2/3 innings.

7/1/2012 6:05:00 PM
Description: Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo pushed his ERA under 4.00 for the first time this season Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He didn't allow a run in a start for the first time this season.
Insight: Gallardo shut out Arizona over 6 2/3 three-hit innings, though he did walk five. Gallardo has pitched better this season than his ERA indicates, as he's tossed 14 quality starts. However, the lack of scoreless outings has allowed his three lousy starts to keep his ERA above 4.00.

5/19/2012 8:41:00 PM
Description: Yovani Gallardo allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in six innings in a no decision against the Twins on Saturday.
Insight: Gallardo walked three and struck out three. Aside from the two times he was shelled by St. Louis this season, Gallardo has given up two earned runs or less in every start. Unfortunately, those starts count too, making Gallardo's ERA 4.62 and his WHIP 1.46. However, just know that Gallardo is 2-2 with a 2.20 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP in his other seven starts this season.

5/7/2012 3:29:00 PM
Description: Yovani Gallardo was slated to start on Monday, but the Brewers announced that Marco Estrada is actually be taking the hill tonight.
Insight: This is just a case of miscommunication, so when you suddenly see that Gallardo is no longer starting tonight, don't worry. He'll be on the mound tomorrow.

4/22/2012 5:59:00 PM
Description: Yovani Gallardo gave up one run in seven strong innings on Saturday to Colorado, but took a no-decision.
Insight: Gallardo gave up six hits and struck out eight. It was his third straight outing of seven innings after he was shelled on Opening Day. Gallardo also hasn't allowed a homer since he gave up four in his first start.

4/11/2012 5:41:00 PM
Description: Yovani Gallardo bounced back in his second start on Wednesday vs. the Cubs, going seven innings and giving up one earned run on five hits to earn his first win this season. Gallardo struck out six.
Insight: The most important statistic for Gallardo: zero home runs. The righty gave up four long balls on Opening Day vs. St. Louis, so it's good to see him keep the ball in the park. He also walked just two batters on Wednesday after giving five free passes to the Cardinals in 3 2/3 innings last week.

4/6/2012 5:34:00 PM
Description: Yovani Gallardo didn't make it out of the fourth inning of his Opening Day start on Friday. Gallardo gave up six runs on seven hits and five walks. He also surrendered four homers.
Insight: Gallardo had a pitiful April last season as well and his ERA sat at 6.10 on May 2. However, he eventually turned it around and finished with 17 wins, a 3.52 ERA and 207 ks in 207 1/3 innings, so don't worry too much about this poor outing.

3/28/2012 4:02:00 PM
Description: Yovani Gallardo has been named Milwaukee's Opening Day starter.
Insight: Some thought that honor might go to Zack Grienke, who has actually outpitched Gallardo this spring (0.73 ERA for Grienke, 4.00 for Gallardo). Gallardo was the Brewers' Opening Day starter in 2011 as well and finished the year with 17 wins (seventh in MLB), a 3.52 ERA and 207 strikeouts (tenth in MLB). He should be solid again this season.

5/30/2011 12:03:00 AM
Description: Jovani Gallardo won his seventh game of the year, pitching a gem against the still stunned San Francisco Giants.
Insight: The Giants are trying to move forward after losing Buster Posey this week for the season, so Gallardo caught them at the right time, but they caught Gallardo at the wrong time as well. He looked great today, picking up win number seven with eight scoreless innings of four hit ball.

5/7/2011 7:16:00 PM
Description: Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo allowed jut 1 hit over 8 shutout innings, picking up the win against the Cardinals. Gallardo walked 4 and struck out 6.
Insight: After 2 solid starts to begin the season, YoGa threw up 5 stinkers. Hopefully this start against the solid-hitting Cardinals starts a hot streak for Gallardo.

5/3/2011 5:02:00 AM
Description: Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo pitched well through 5 innings but gave up 4 runs in the 6th inning against Atlanta, taking the loss yesterday. Gallardo gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in his 5 innings, leading to 5 runs; he struck out 7.
Insight: He is still racking up the K's but, otherwise, Gallardo has been a disappointment to start the season. He should turn it around soon so keep him active.

4/27/2011 5:50:00 PM
Description: Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo struggled again today, allowing 6 runs in innings. The Reds had 10 hits and 3 walks off of Gallardo; he only struck out 3.
Insight: Gallardo has now reeled off 4 poor starts in a row. It is hard to bench him because he might toss a gem at any time. If there is no injury, which has not been revealed yet, you have to keep running him out there.

4/23/2011 8:41:00 AM
Description: Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo allowed 4 runs over 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and a walk, while striking out 7. Gallardo also hit a home run in the win over Houston.
Insight: Gallardo did improve to 2-1 but his season ERA still stands at 4.88. He is pitching more like a #4 SP in mixed leagues but should turn it around soon. Emphasize his ERA and his 1.40 WHIP, with just 20 K's, and see if you can pry him away from his owner in your league.

4/17/2011 8:09:00 PM
Description: Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo lasted just 5 1/3 innings against the Nationals, giving up 7 runs on 10 hits; he struck out 5.
Insight: Gallardo has struggled so far this season, posting an ERA of 4.62 with a 1.38 WHIP. He has just 13K's on the year so he is not even helping you much in that category. If you drafted him you drafted him to be your ace so run him out there for a few more starts before deciding to bench him.
