Rockies' Cuddyer out 6-to-8 weeks

Denver, CO ( - Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer revealed after Monday's game against the Atlanta Braves that he has a non- displaced fracture of his left shoulder socket, an injury that is expected to sideline the 2013 National League batting champion between 6-to-8 weeks.

The Rockies had placed Cuddyer on the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's 3-1 loss to the Braves with what the team had termed a shoulder sprain. The veteran slugger had sat out Colorado's entire three-game series with the Dodgers this past weekend with the injury.

Cuddyer, who previously missed a month due to a strained hamstring he sustained in mid-April, is batting .317 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 31 games thus far in 2014. The 35-year-old hit a career-best .331 last season to claim the NL batting crown.

The injury is another tough blow to a Rockies team that has lost 10 of its 11 games and is also without two other key position players in outfielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger surgery) and third baseman Nolan Arenado (fractured finger).
