Stars taking the night off?

LeBron James might get some time off.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - With just a little over one week left in the NBA regular season, fantasy owners must now be on the lookout for the "random" night off.

Sure, Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson has been doing it for more than a month, but now it's going to happen to a lot more of your players

It's an unfortunate result of clinching playoff positions in the upcoming "second season" that coaches will begin to rest their stars over the final week in preparation for the big playoff push.

Sometimes, coaches don't even care about seeding, believing that rest is more important than anything else.

Just one example of the debate is taking place in Cleveland, where Coach Mike Brown has been contemplating resting his stars, including LeBron James, despite being in reach of the overall No.1 seed.

The Cavs (62-15) need just two wins in their final five games to wrap up the top seed in the Eastern Conference. But their magic number for the No.1 overall record is five since the Los Angeles Lakers are just one game back at 61-16.

"If we can get the top seed, great," Brown said. "It's not anything that I'm going to kill my guys over."

Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, guard Mo Williams and Wally Szczerbiak could all probably use the time off, as well as James.

While the team might be able to squeak by without the first three players, the odds on the team winning without LeBron drop drastically. And so does your fantasy team without it's superstar.

So beware of some of your players resting and be prepared to sit them in favor of a "lesser" player who will actually be on the floor at game time.

It's one of the few advantages to having a player on a non-playoff team. Since they are simply playing out the string, there is no need to rest. For them, golf season will start soon enough.
