Jay Bruce, RF, CIN7/10/2014 10:24:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs.
Insight: Just a day of rest. Bruce had homered in three consecutive games until Wednesday's game. The Reds Thursday lineup looks like a Triple-A roster due to rest and injuries.
Chris Denorfia, RF, SDP7/10/2014 10:02:00 AM
Description: Chris Denorfia is one of the few hitters who has been successful against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
Insight: Denorfia (.257, 1 HR, 15 RBI) doesn't get many plays by fantasy owners, but he's a career .310 hitter (9-for-29) with three home runs against Kershaw. Denorfia has hit just 36 home runs in nine seasons.
Justin Ruggiano, RF, CHC7/10/2014 9:30:00 AM
Description: Cubs right fielder Justin Ruggiano is batting .407 this week, but does not have a favorable matchup against Cincinnati right-hander Homer Bailey.

Description: Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran (knee) was in Wednesday's lineup after sitting out the past two games, but he was scratched after being hit below the eye by a ball. SOURCE: Meredith Marakovits, YES Network
Insight: While taking batting practice, Beltran hit a ball off the bottom of the screen and it bounced back and hit him. The injury just about sums up the day the Yankees have had -- Masahiro Tanaka was also placed on the disabled list with elbow soreness and Brett Gardner was scratched with an abdominal strain. Over his last 40 games, Beltran has hit .170 (25-for-147) with four homers, 15 RBI and a .542 OPS. He hasn't played the field since May 11 because of a bone spur in his elbow and he's been dealing with swelling in his right knee. He had surgery on the same knee in 2010.
Jason Heyward, RF, ATL 7/9/2014 1:09:00 PM
Description: Braves right fielder Jason Heyward is 8-for-21 (.381) with a homer and six walks against Mets starter Dillon Gee.
Insight: Heyward went 3-for-4 Tuesday but has gone just 10-for-57 (.175) with two extra-base hits in his last 17 games and is hitting .247 with a .705 OPS on the year. He should only be used when the matchup is perfect, and Wednesday is one of those occasions.
Curtis Granderson, RF, NYMHot7/9/2014 12:52:00 PM
Description: Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson had a .141 average, a .470 OPS and one homer in his first 26 games this season, but he's batted .278 with 11 doubles, a triple, 13 homers, 35 RBI, 40 walks, 35 runs and a .915 OPS in his last 61 games.
Insight: Granderson has homered in back-to-back games and four of his last eight. His OPS for the season is up to .782. Granderson has only 11 hits in 46 career at-bats (.239) against Braves starter Ervin Santana, but that includes two doubles and five home runs. He'll face Santana Wednesday.
Jose Bautista, RF, TORCold7/9/2014 12:43:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has rocked Angels starter C.J. Wilson in the past.
Insight: Bautista is 8-for-18 (.444) with a double and a homer against Wilson, who will start against the Blue Jays Wednesday. Bautista has gone 7-for-41 (.171) since June 19, but he's a must-start against Wilson.

Josh Reddick, RF, OAK7/8/2014 8:58:00 PM
Description: Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick (knee) could begin a rehab assignment Friday, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Reddick spent three weeks on the disabled list in June after hyperextending his right knee and he lasted just four games before straining the same knee on June 28. He'll be back following the All-Star break but shouldn't be on any fantasy teams.
Ryan Braun, RF, MILHot7/8/2014 8:55:00 PM
Description: According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said he doesn't expect Ryan Braun (back) to miss many more games, if any.
Insight: Braun (.291, 11 HR, 49 RBI) has been out of the starting lineup three of the past four games with a back injury.
Jay Bruce, RF, CINHot7/8/2014 7:38:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce homered for the third straight game Tuesday against the Cubs.
Insight: Bruce has gone 4-for-12 with three homers, seven RBI and five runs in his last three games after going 0-for-21 from June 29 to July 5. This is nothing new for Bruce, who may be the streakiest hitter in the league.
Shane Victorino, RF, BOS7/8/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: According to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal, Red Sox manager John Farrell said the team has had to pull Shane Victorino away from his rehab assignment again due to "increased symptoms" in his back.
Insight: Victorino (.242, 1 HR, 10 RBI) began experiencing back soreness in June while rehabbing from a hamstring injury and he's had to stop his rehab assignment twice. Farrell said the earliest Victorino will resume his assignment is Thursday. He's played just 21 games this season.
Carlos Beltran, RF, NYY7/8/2014 4:29:00 PM
Description: Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran is out of the lineup again Tuesday with swelling in his right knee.
Insight: Over his last 40 games, Beltran has hit .170 (25-for-147) with four homers, 15 RBI and a .542 OPS. He hasn't played the field since May 11 because of a bone spur in his elbow and now he has a knee injury to worry about. He had surgery on the same knee in 2010.
Ryan Braun, RF, MILHot7/8/2014 4:24:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee right fielder Ryan Braun is a career .474 hitter with two home runs against Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick. Update: Braun is not in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Braun has always "owned" Phillies pitching. He's a career .396 hitter with 17 homers and a 1.174 OPS against Philadelphia, but perhaps the back is acting up again.
Ryan Braun, RF, MILHot7/8/2014 10:34:00 AM
Description: Milwaukee right fielder Ryan Braun is a career .474 hitter with two home runs against Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: Braun has always "owned" Phillies pitching. He's a career .396 hitter with 17 homers and a 1.174 OPS against Philadelphia.
Jayson Werth, RF, WAS7/8/2014 10:13:00 AM
Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth has struck out in half his 14 at-bats versus Baltimore right-hander Bud Norris.
Insight: Werth has hit just .143 against Norris. The right fielder's offensive game hasn't matched last year (.318, 25 HR, 49 extra base hits, .931 OPS). He's hitting for a lower average and less power. This matchup should be avoided.
Jay Bruce, RF, CIN 7/7/2014 11:04:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce homered for the second straight game Monday against the Cubs.
Insight: Bruce started at first base with Joey Votto sidelined. He's one of the streakiest hitters in the league and could be streaking in the right direction now after going 0-for-21 from June 29 to July 5.
Ryan Braun, RF, MIL7/7/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee right fielder Ryan Braun (back) is in the lineup Monday.
Insight: Braun left Saturday's game with lower back spasms and didn't play Sunday. The 30-year-old has had a solid season (.288, 11 HR, 49 RBI, .847 OPS) but has been below the level he played at his first six seasons.
Carlos Beltran, RF, NYY7/7/2014 6:12:00 PM
Description: Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran is out of the lineup Monday with swelling in his right knee, according to Bryan Hoch of mlb.com.
Steve Pearce, RF, NYY7/7/2014 4:17:00 PM
Description: Orioles 1B/OF Steve Pearce is the odd man out with the Orioles on the road in a National League city.
Insight: Slumping Chris Davis will start at first base and Nelson Cruz in the outfield leaving Pearce to a pinch hit role. Pearce is having an excellent season, batting .326 with 10 homers and 30 RBI in just 172 at-bats.
Gregory Polanco, RF, PIT7/7/2014 4:13:00 PM
Description: Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco is not in Monday's starting lineup, it will be Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison in the outfield tonight.
Insight: After an 11-game hitting streak to start his career, he's batted just .204 over the past 14 games.
Justin Ruggiano, RF, CHCHot7/7/2014 4:03:00 PM
Description: Cubs right fielder Justin Ruggiano is 16-for-35 (.457) over the past two weeks.
Insight: Ruggiano has been particularly good away from Wrigley Field this season, batting .328 with a .955 OPS on the road. The Cubs are in Cincinnati tonight.
Jay Bruce, RF, CINCold7/7/2014 3:51:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce will start at first base Monday night.
Insight: With Votto sidelined, Bruce could gain 1B eligibility. Bruce has got to be the streakiest hitter in the big leagues. When he's hot you have to start him every day, but when he's cold it doesn't matter whether its a good matchup or bad. Bruce has one hit in his last 18 at-bats.
Jose Bautista, RF, TOR7/7/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is just 1-for-12 (.073) against Angels starter Jered Weaver.
Insight: Bautista leads the league in on-base percentage (.419). He's also batting .296 with 17 homers, 51 RBI, 56 runs and a .941 OPS this season. With all that he should be avoided in this unfavorable matchup.
Allen Craig, RF, STL7/7/2014 11:22:00 AM
Description: St. Louis right fielder Allen Craig is a career 11-for-21 (.524) against Pittsburgh right-hander Charlie Morton.
Insight: Craig's impressive season of a year ago is a distant dream as he's batting just .249 with seven homers and 43 RBI. Perhaps this matchup can get him going
Nate Schierholtz, RF, CHC7/7/2014 11:16:00 AM
Description: Cubs right fielder Nate Schierholtz is 9-for-19 (.474) against Cincinnati Reds tight-hander Mike Leake.
Insight: After an impressive 21 homer season a year ago, Schierholtz has struggled, batting just .212 with five homers and 31 RBI in 77 games, but has a favorable matchup Monday.
Marlon Byrd, RF, PHI7/6/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Phillies right fielder Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with home run and two RBI Sunday against the Pirates.
Insight: With Chase Utley in a slump, Byrd is the only Phillies hitter doing anything (.266, 18 HR, 52 RBI). He might bring value in a traded deadline deal.
Jay Bruce, RF, CIN7/6/2014 4:21:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce ended a six-game hitless streak with a home run in the eighth inning.
Insight: Bruce has got to be the streakiest hitter in the big leagues. When he's hot you have to start him every day, but when he's cold it doesn't matter whether its a good matchup or bad.
Alfonso Soriano, RF, NYY7/6/2014 12:50:00 PM
Description: Yankees outfielder Alfonso Soriano has been designated for assignment.
Insight: Soriano was batting .221 with six homers and 23 RBI which simply wasn't enough production for a guy with an $18 million salary.
Carlos Beltran, RF, NYY7/6/2014 11:14:00 AM
Description: Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran has a .340 lifetime average against Twins right-hander Ricky Nolasco (16-for-47).
Insight: Beltran hasn't been close to what the Yankees expected him to be this season, but he's a good enough hitter to turn things around quickly. Though he's struck out 11 times against Nolasco, he also has a home and 16 hits against him, so there's a chance he has a productive afternoon.
Jay Bruce, RF, CIN7/6/2014 10:56:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is 15-for-44 with two home runs and nine RBI against Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo.
Insight: Bruce, like Brandon Phillips, has great numbers against Gallardo and has been struggling of late, so perhaps he's due for a big afternoon. Three of his 15 hits against the Milwaukee righty have been doubles and he's also walked four times and stolen two bases against him.
Ryan Braun, RF, MIL7/6/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Milwaukee right fielder Ryan Braun left the game in the second inning of Saturday's contest against the Cincinntai due to lower back spasms and is not in Sunday's starting lineup.
Insight: No surprise here. Braun just had an eight-game hitting streak snapped Friday night. He's batting .289 with 11 HR and 49 RBI. Not exactly up to his previous standards, but not horrible. Logan Schafer (.176) is in right field Sunday in Braun's place, but he has no fantasy value.
Allen Craig, RF, STL7/5/2014 6:00:00 PM
Description: St. Louis right fielder Allen Craig posted his first multi-RBI game in two weeks.
Insight: Craig's batting average is down 60 points from last season and he's unlikely to reach his 2013 total of 97 RBI either. June's .597 OPS is why he doesn't play everyday, but he did hit home run No. 7 on Saturday.
Ryan Braun, RF, MIL7/5/2014 4:59:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee right fielder Ryan Braun left the game in the second inning of Saturday's contest against the Cincinntai due to lower back spasms.

Description: Los Angeles outfielder Scott Van Slyke is hitless in 12 at-bats against Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa.
Insight: Van Slyke is hitting the ball well this season (.268, 8 HR, 15 RBI in 112 at-bats, but this matchup should be avoided.
Jay Bruce, RF, CINCold7/5/2014 11:00:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is 8-for-19 (.421) with two homers against Milwaukee starter Matt Garza.
Insight: Bruce's recent hot streak is a thing of the past as he's hitless over the past five games. At times like this his hot/cold streak usually outweighs the matchup. Look elsewhere for outfield help.
Dayan Viciedo, RF, CWSHot7/4/2014 9:44:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo went 4-for-4 and homered for the fourth time in his last seven games Friday against the Mariners.

Description: Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth continued his hot start to the month with a double, a homer and a walk Friday against the Cubs.

Seth Smith, RF, SDP7/4/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: San Diego outfielder Seth Smith may be the Padres best hitter this season, but he's never been able to do anything with Matt Cain's offerings.
Insight: Smith is a career .094 hitter (3-for-32) against Cain. He's batting .282 this season with nine homers, 25 RBI and an .890 OPS in 238 at-bats.

Pearce has been a platoon player at best in his career because of his inability to hit righties, but he's batting over .300 with five home runs against them this season.
