James, Bryant tabbed NBA Players of the Month

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Miami Heat star LeBron James garnered his fourth consecutive Eastern Conference Player of the Month award on Friday, with Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant taking home Western Conference honors for games played in February.

James repeated the distinction after averaging a league-best 29.7 points, 7.8 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 1.85 steals while shooting 64.1 percent from the field and 43.2 percent from three-point range in February.

James shot 71.7 percent (66-of-92) from the field in six-straight games from February 3 through February 12, became the first player in league history to score at least 30 points and shoot 60 percent from the field over six consecutive games.

Bryant averaged 23.9 points and a team-high 6.6 assists per game to lead the Lakers to a 9-4 record for the month. The 15-time All Star added his fifth 40- point scoring effort in a win over Portland on Feb. 22.

Others nominated include Atlanta's Al Horford, Josh Smith and Jeff Teague, Brooklyn's Brook Lopez, Denver's Ty Lawson, Houston's James Harden, Memphis' Zach Randolph, Miami's Dwyane Wade, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and San Antonio's Tony Parker.
