Description: Free agent starting pitcher Javier Vazquez is set to have minor surgery on his right knee later this week.
Insight: The surgery is expected to sideline Vazquez for 2-to-3 weeks. The 36-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2011 when he went 13-11 with a 3.69 ERA in 32 starts for Florida.

Description: Retired SP Javier Vasquez is considering a comeback, according to Peter Gammons.
Insight: Vasquez was 13-11 with a 3.69 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 162 Ks in 2011 with the Marlins. He's supposed to pitch for Ponce and then Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic before making a final decision. Vazquez almost always had fantasy value over his 14 MLB seasons.

5/21/2011 6:53:00 PM
Description: Javier Vasquez threw seven scoreless innings and struck out seven in Saturday's win against the Rays.
Insight: Vasquez should only be looked at in NL only leagues right now due to his inconsistency.

4/3/2011 9:54:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Javier Vazquez got lit up today by the Mets in his first start this season. Vazquez couldn't get out of the third inning, giving up seven runs, four earned, six hits and issuing five walks.
Insight: Following up a horrific 2010 by getting shelled first time out can't do much for the confidence. That's Vazquez confidence or the fantasy owners confidence. He needs to show something before you consider owning him at this point.

3/19/2011 7:49:00 PM
Description: Marlins SP Javier Vazquez rebounded from a poor performance and allowed just 2 runs against the Cardinals. 'It's not gone 100 percent, but it's getting better, I know that,' he said of his elbow. 'I was able to throw a couple of sliders and a few curveballs.' SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Vazquez is a solid play in NL-only leagues and, with his move back to the NL, could be worth a late round flier in deeper mixed leagues.

Description: Starting pitcher Javier Vazquez is closing in on a free-agent deal with the Marlins; it is believed to be a one-year contract. SOURCE: Sports Illustrated

Description: The Nationals have expressed interest in free-agent right-hander Javier Vazquez, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The club could make an offer to Vazquez as early as next week. SOURCE: MLB.com

Description: In addition to the Rockies, the Marlins have expressed an interest in SP Javier Vazquez. SOURCE: ESPN.com

Description: Colorado has interest in signing Javier Vazquez. SOURCE: TROY RENCK
Insight: We doubt this will happen. A move to Coors Field isn't the right thing for a pitcher that struggled in 2010. Expect Vazquez to find a friendlier NL park to revive his career.

Description: Yankees P Javier Vazquez's relief work has earned him another turn in the rotation, as the right-hander will return to start Saturday against the Blue Jays. SOURCE: MLB.com
