Anthony owners anything but 'Melo

Carmelo Anthony's return to the lineup is a bit unsure.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Carmelo Anthony's fantasy owners had to be crying when he fell to the floor in a heap near the end of Saturday night's 116-110 OT win over New Orleans.

The Denver forward has had such a great season, but it didn't look good as the team helped him off the floor. It seemed a bit better after the timeout as Anthony took his free throw attempts, but the Nuggets immediately fouled to get him out of the game.

Anthony has also been dealing with a knee ailment which kept him out of five games earlier this month.

The Denver Post is reporting that "Melo" will miss Monday night's game with Charlotte, but is a likely starter for Wednesday's contest.

That's great news for the league's second-leading scorer and top-five fantasy player. Anthony is having the best year of his career, posting 29.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.3 apg and shooting a solid 46.4% from the floor.

But in three of the last four years Melo has played in 66-or-fewer games. So owners rightfully worry about Anthony. He's certainly no Tim Duncan, who has played in 95.4% of his team's games since 2006-07 or Kobe Bryant, 98.6% in that same time span and hasn't missed a game in three seasons.

"I've had ankle injuries before, but this one is not as bad as the others," said Anthony after the game.

His owners and Nuggets fans hope so, because it's likely that neither has a viable replacement for all that Anthony can do on a basketball court.
