NFL Preseason Preview - Green Bay (1-2) at Kansas City (1-2)
By John McMullen, NFL Editor
(Sports Network) - The Kansas City Chiefs will wrap up their preseason slate on Thursday by hosting the Green Bay Packers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kansas City earned its first victory of the Andy Reid era last week, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-20 in overtime at Heinz Field.
After a 38-yard Ryan Succop field goal sent the game into overtime, the Chiefs won the toss and drove 71 yards on 13 plays, culminating with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Chase Daniel to Rico Richardson.
The Chiefs' defense recorded five sacks on the night and rookie running back Knile Davis returned a third-quarter kickoff 109 yards for a touchdown, the second kickoff return touchdown by the Chiefs special teams unit in as many weeks.
Kansas City QB Alex Smith completed 17-of-24 passes for 158 yards with one touchdown for a 102.4 passer rating.
The Packers, meanwhile, fell to 1-2 in the preseason when Brady Quinn found Stephen Williams for a 42-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to propel the Seattle Seahawks to a 17-10 win.
Aaron Rodgers played only a series, connecting on 4-of-7 throws for 41 yards before giving way to Graham Harrell, who put up an underwhelming 49 yards on 6-of-13 passing.
Vince Young fared well, rushing three times for 39 yards and throwing for 41 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-7 passing.
Green Bay then released Harrell on Sunday, meaning Young will likely be the Packers' No. 2 quarterback behind Rodgers.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Chiefs and Packers have met in the preseason finale. Green Bay holds a slim 7-6-1 advantage in the all-time exhibition series between the two clubs.
