Description: Nationals 3B/LF Ryan Zimmerman is 4-for-11 with two home runs against Baltimore right-hander Bud Norris.
Insight: Zimmerman's arm cost the Nationals a key double play Monday night, but he's still hitting the ball through his fielding problems. He's batting .326 over his last 12 games.

Description: I don't usually recommend a hitter based on just three at-bats, but Nationals 3B/LF Ryan Zimmerman is 3-for-3 with three home runs against Baltimore right-hander Chris Tillman.
Insight: Zimmerman hasn't been adversely affected by moving from outfield to third base, in fact, he's batting .471 over his last five games. Add in the favorable matchup and the wind blowing out to dead center Monday and you have all the ingredients for a big day.

6/3/2014 11:00:00 AM
Description: Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman (thumb) has been activated from the disabled list in time for Tuesday's game.

Description: X-rays revealed that Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman's fractured right thumb is not fully healed, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Zimmerman suffered the injury on April 13 against the Braves and is five weeks into his initial four-to-six-week timetable. He's not going to make it back by next week. Zimmerman is expected to get a splint on his thumb that will allow him to begin exercising his right arm.

Description: Ryan Zimmerman (broken thumb) could see time in the outfield when he returns from the disabled list. SOURCE: Washington Post
Insight: Nate McLouth (.118, 1 HR, 1 RBI) hasn't been very productive in left field and the team seems to like using Anthony Rendon (.275, 5 HR, 24 RBI) at third with Danny Espinosa (.221, 6 HR, 10 RBI) at second base. Washington needs Zimmerman's bat in the lineup and using him in left field could be the team's best option while Bryce Harper recovers from thumb surgery.

Insight: It's a really tough break for the Nats as Zimmerman had been off to a great start (.364, 2 HR, 6 RBI in ten games). Anthony Rendon (.372, 2 HR, 9 RBI) should see time at third base while he's out.

4/11/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is hitless in 11 career at-bats versus Atlanta right-hander Julio Teheran.
