Description: Brewers right-hander Matt Garza was ejected Saturday night for hitting Andrew McCutchen in the fifth inning.
Insight: McCutchen was hit for the first time in the third inning, and Edinson Volquez retaliated by throwing at Ryan Braun in the fourth. At the point, warnings were issued to both benches. Garza did not appear to mean to hit McCutchen in the fifth, but was tossed nonetheless. He was throwing well after 4 2/3 innings, striking out six and not letting up a run. Garza's pitch count was at 86, making it unlikely he would advance too far into the game.

Insight: The Brewers have hoped all along that Garza could rejoin the pitching rotation without needing a minor league rehab assignment, and this is certainly a good sign. With Mike Fiers pitching very well, it's anticipated that Garza's return will bump Jimmy Nelson to the bullpen.

Description: Updating a previous report, the Brewers and Matt Garza are still in talks and no deal is official yet. SOURCE: Brewers on Twitter
Insight: We imagine the deal will be finalized within the next 24 hours. Fox's Ken Rosenthal was the first to report that Garza had signed with Milwaukee for four years and $52 million. It seems like most teams were waiting to see what happened with Masahiro Tanaka before making any big moves. Now that Tanaka is with New York, we should see a lot of free agent signings in the next week.
