Orioles 1B Davis exits with wrist sprain

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Baltimore Orioles first baseman and home run champion Chris Davis left Sunday's season finale against the Red Sox with a left wrist sprain after a collision at the bag in the fourth inning.

Davis was hurt when Boston's Jacoby Ellsbury ran into the first baseman's glove hand while trying to beat out a throw from Orioles catcher Steve Clevenger.

The throw was tight to the line and Davis' glove came off in the collision. He held his left wrist and walked toward the mound, where he was met by a trainer.

Ryan Flaherty replaced Davis, who ended the season as the major league leader with 53 home runs.

Davis had 138 RBI -- one more than Detroit's Miguel Cabrera for the MLB lead. Cabrera wasn't in the lineup Sunday for the Tigers.

Davis is the first Orioles player to lead the majors in home runs since Frank Robinson in 1966.
