The receiver opposite Terrell Owens sees very little change in his statistical production.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
The conventional wisdom heard around fantasy "experts" is that Terrell Owens coming to Buffalo will help Bills' wide receiver Lee Evans because Owens will require double-teaming and therefore Evans' numbers should improve.
If only the statistics would bear that out, but alas, they don't.
Based on Owens' previous two team changes, from San Francisco to Philadelphia in 2004 and from Philadelphia to Dallas in 2006, the receiver opposite Owens sees very little change in his statistical production.
When Owens came to the "City of Brotherly Love," Todd Pinkston was the leading wide receiver with 36 catches for 572 yards and just two scores. On the other side of the field was the "immortal" James Thrash with 558 yards on 49 receptions and one TD.
With Owens garnering double coverage on almost every play and making 77 catches for 1,200 yards and 14 TDs in 12 games, Pinkston again caught 36 balls for 676 yards and one TD.
Jump to Dallas in 2006 and Owens teamed up with veteran Terry Glenn. While Owens was grabbing 85 balls for 1,180 yards and 13 scores, Glenn caught eight more balls for 89 less yards and one less touchdown.
Combining the two receivers, Pinkston and Glenn, for pre- and post Owens production, we find it to be almost identical - 98 receptions for 1,708 yards and nine TDs before Owens and 106 receptions for 1,723 yards and seven scores with Owens.
So what should we expect from Evans, who has averaged 59 catches for 948 yards and six scores since 2004?
Simple that, no more, no less.
Currently, Evans has a RapidDraft ADP of 80.6 - making him a late eighth/early ninth round selection.
