In his first four games of 2009, Eric Gordon is averaging 26.3 ppg, 3.3 apg and 1.3 spg.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
When he was averaging two points and one assist in his first two NBA games, there wasn't much of a clamor to have Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Eric Gordon on our fantasy teams.
In 14 November games, Gordon improved to 7.8 ppg and 1.7 apg while playing 19 minutes. Better, but not enough to get noticed by the masses.
Then in December, Gordon's playing time jumped to more than 39 minutes-per-game and his points correspondingly leapt up to 13.9 ppg. The former Indiana Hoosier began to get picked up.
Now it's January and in his first four games of 2009, Gordon is averaging 26.3 ppg, 3.3 apg and 1.3 spg. In fact, he hasn't scored less than 20 points in a game since December 28th.
For the season, Gordon is averaging 12.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.9 apg and 1.1 spg. Because of the slow start, his numbers don't look as impressive as they could, but having seen his progression, we see good things for him for the rest of the season.
Yet he is still only owned in about 60% of the leagues.
Gordon has always been a pure scorer. After being named Indiana's "Mr. Basketball" in 2007, he played one year at Indiana leading the Big Ten in scoring and tied for 19th in the nation at 20.9 ppg. Gordon also ranked fifth in free throw percentage (.834) and 10th in steals (1.3 spg) and set an Indiana and Big Ten freshman record for total points scored (669), breaking the old mark held by Michael Redd of Ohio State in 1998.
If you are lucky enough to be in a league where he is still available...what are you waiting for?
