Milton Bradley is owned in less than 40% of all leagues.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
It's a new week and with it come a new set of free agents worthy of your consideration for pickup. There's still time to make a run towards the title, or at least beat your rival.
Before tomorrow's September 1st call up, here is a list of guys currently getting it done. Particularly if you need outfield help, you should comb the list for possible waiver pickups.
Milton Bradley, OF, Chicago Cubs - Bradley has been a disappointment for most of the season, batting 50 points lower than last year, but over the past seven days he's batting .545, with two home runs and an OPS of 1.598. He's been much more effective in Wrigley Field hitting .329 in front of the home fans versus .208 on the road. The Cubs play 11 of the next 17 at home. Bradley is owned in less than 40% of all leagues.
Andy Marte, 1B, Cleveland - Since being recalled at the end of July, Marte has collected 15 hits in his last 44 at-bats, including three home runs and 12 RBIs. He's hitting better on the road (.333) than in Cleveland (.211) and they're in Detroit right now. Marte, 4% ownership, is available in almost every league.
J.D. Drew, OF, Boston - Drew is batting .359 over the past two weeks with five home runs and eight RBIs. His OPS is a solid 1.289. Drew is owned in 35% of all leagues.
Scott Podsednik, OF, Chicago White Sox - If you are looking for steals, Podsednik has five over the past 10 games. He's also scored seven runs and batted .325.
Mitch Maier, OF, Kansas City - Maier was up for a "cup of coffee" last year, but is getting a good look this time around. He's batted .292 in August with three home runs, 13 RBIs and three stolen bases. The Kansas City outfielder in owned in less than 1% of all leagues.
Nelson Figueroa, SP, New York Mets - Since being re-installed into the rotation, Figueroa had his second consecutive outing yielding one earned run. In seven innings against the Cubs, he yielded just six hits and struck out 10. Perhaps he has found something.
Brian Duensing, SP, Minnesota - Duensing pitched seven innings on Friday, yielding three hits, one earned run and collecting eight strikeouts. It was his second start after 15 relief appearances. As a starter he is 2-0 with 11 K's in 12.0 innings and a ERA of 2.25. Those are the kind of numbers the team was hoping to get from another lefty - Francisco Liriano.
