Utah Jazz Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Al Jefferson, C4/19/2013 7:27:00 PM
Description: It's unlikely that the Jazz will be able to retain both Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap in free agency. SOURCE: Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: It's also possible that Utah could wind up without either one of them. Utah had a chance to make the postseason but lost to the Grizzlies Wednesday in a must-win regular season finale.
Al Jefferson, C4/18/2013 9:58:00 AM
Description: Utah big man Al Jefferson was the only one who came to play Wednesday against Memphis (22 points, 16 boards in 40 minutes).
Insight: Jefferson (17.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg) didn't get much help from his teammates as Utah finished with a season-low 70 points in the loss. If it's any consolation to Jazz fans, the Lakers would have made the playoffs anyway by virtue of their win against Houston.
Enes Kanter, C4/9/2013 3:49:00 PM
Description: Utah center Enes Kanter (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season, according to the Deseret News.
Insight: Kanter will undergo a minor surgical procedure on his left shoulder. He dislocated the shoulder on March 27 against Phoenix. The 20-year-old could be a starter next season next to Derrick Favors if the Jazz let both Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap leave via free agency.
Enes Kanter, C3/28/2013 9:26:00 PM
Description: Utah center Enes Kanter has been diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder.
Insight: This injury will probably sideline Kanter for the rest of the season. Look for Derrick Favors to (9.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg) see time at center while Kanter is out.
Enes Kanter, C3/28/2013 2:14:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Enes Kanter (shoulder) will miss Friday's game against Portland. He suffered the injury Wednesday.
Insight: Kanter flirted with fantasy relevance earlier this month when Utah big men Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson were both dealing with injuries but he only averaged 15 mpg in the six games prior to Wednesday.
Paul Millsap, F3/28/2013 2:13:00 PM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap missed practice Thursday with "gastric distress," which sounds like a fancier term for an upset stomach. He will travel with the team to Portland and is expected to play Friday.
Insight: Teammate Randy Foye had the same issue but played Wednesday night.
Gordon Hayward, SFHot3/28/2013 10:05:00 AM
Description: Jazz forward Gordon Hayward had 25 points, six assists, five rebounds and three treys Wednesday against the Suns.
Insight: Hayward is finally getting big minutes for Utah instead of Marvin Williams. The former Butler star is averaging 16.6 points, 3.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 34 minutes since the All-Star break.
Al Jefferson, C3/28/2013 10:02:00 AM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson netted 25 points and had nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 42 minutes Wednesday against the Suns.
Insight: Jefferson isn't going to get to face a much softer front line than he did Wednesday. The Suns are starting Luis Scola at center and Markieff Morris at power forward.
Enes Kanter, C3/27/2013 10:08:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Enes Kanter left Wednesday's game with an injured left shoulder and will not return.
Insight: Kanter flirted with fantasy relevance earlier this month when Utah big men Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson were both dealing with injuries but he only averaged 15 mpg over his previous six games.
Randy Foye, G3/27/2013 8:00:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Randy Foye (illness) will play Wednesday against the Suns.
Insight: Foye is averaging just 6.8 ppg in 24 mpg this month but his presence means fewer minutes for players with fantasy value such as Gordon Heyward.
Marvin Williams, F3/27/2013 6:03:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams (heel) is expected to play Wednesday.
Insight: He's dealing with right heel bursitis. He's only averaging 7.5 ppg and 3.7 rpg this season and shouldn't be in any fantasy lineups.
Gordon Hayward, SFHot3/20/2013 11:01:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard/forward Gordon Hayward exploded for 27 points and eight assists Wednesday against Houston.
Insight: It took Utah a while to figure out Hayward's role but he's settling in nicely as the team's starting small forward. Hayward is averaging 20.3 ppg on 49.1 percent shooting over his last four games.
Gordon Hayward, SF3/17/2013 4:42:00 PM
Description: Utah swingman Gordon Hayward had 17 points and eight rebounds in 38 minutes of play Saturday night against Memphis in his first start since Nov. 16.
Insight: Hayward started the first 10 games of the season but has been coming off the bench ever since. He's averaging five more minutes per game as a starter than as a sub.
Paul Millsap, F3/13/2013 6:15:00 PM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap (knee) is expected to play Wednesday against the Thunder, according to Bill Oram of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Insight: Millsap (15.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg) has missed the last two games with a bruised knee. Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter lose most of their fantasy value when Millsap plays.
Paul Millsap, F3/12/2013 4:18:00 PM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap (knee) will be a game-time decision Wednesday against the Thunder.
Insight: Millsap (15.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg) has missed the last two games with a bruised knee. While Derrick Favors has started both he has played just 22 mpg and scored a total of 10 points. Meanwhile, Enes Kanter is averaging 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds during a span of six straight double-digit scoring games.
Jamaal Tinsley, G3/11/2013 8:30:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Jamaal Tinsley won't be available Monday against the Pistons. Tinsley is dealing with an illness.
Insight: He's posted 5.5 ppg in his last two contests, which is actually slightly better than his season average (a brutal 3.9 ppg in 52 appearances). The moral of the story is, there is no reason to own Tinsley in fantasy right now.
Paul Millsap, F3/11/2013 8:06:00 PM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap won't be in uniform Monday against the Pistons. Millsap has been dealing with a bruised right knee.
Insight: Millsap (15.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg) also missed Saturday's game against the Knicks so fantasy owners shouldn't be caught off guard by this. Derrick Favors (9.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg) should see a nice boost in fantasy value if Millsap's knee woes continue.
Paul Millsap, F3/11/2013 11:33:00 AM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap (knee) missed Saturday's game with New York and is questionable for Monday's game against Detroit.
Insight: The Jazz are calling him day-to-day. Derrick Favors gets the start if Millsap is sidelined and as a starter he's averaged 10.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg and is a viable fantasy option.
Paul Millsap, F3/10/2013 12:34:00 PM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap (knee) will be re-evaluated on Sunday, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.
Insight: Millsap missed Saturday's game with knee inflammation after missing two earlier this month with an ankle sprain. The Jazz are calling him day-to-day.
Paul Millsap, F3/9/2013 6:43:00 PM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap will miss Saturday's game due to right knee inflammation, according to Bill Oram of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Insight: Millsap has played his last three games after missing two due to an ankle sprain. Look for Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter to get a boost in playing time.
Al Jefferson, C3/8/2013 7:29:00 PM
Description: Utah big man Al Jefferson will start Friday night's game against Chicago. He's missed the last three games because of a sprained ankle.
Insight: Enes Kanter owners will be disappointed by this news. Jefferson went for 32 points and 13 rebounds when these teams met in February
Al Jefferson, C3/8/2013 12:06:00 PM
Description: Utah Jazz center Al Jefferson will be a game-time decision for Friday's game with Chicago. He's been dealing with a sprained left ankle.
Insight: The Salt Lake Tribune says that Jefferson (17.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg) is expected to play despite the questionable tag. Make sure he's back in your lineup.
Gordon Hayward, SF3/6/2013 10:01:00 PM
Description: Utah swingman Gordon Hayward contributed 25 points off the bench Wednesday against Cleveland.
Insight: Hayward couldn't hit a shot to save his life Monday in Milwaukee (3-for-16 from the field) so it's good to see him get back on track. The Jazz play again Friday night in Chicago.
Mo Williams, PG3/6/2013 6:45:00 PM
Description: Jazz point guard Mo Williams is back in the starting lineup after missing the last 32 games with a torn thumb ligament.
Insight: Randy Foye, Earl Watson, Jamaal Tinsley and Alex Burks should all see fewer minutes now that Williams is back in the fold. Williams had been averaging 12.9 ppg and 6.7 apg in 31.4 mpg before the injury.
Al Jefferson, C3/6/2013 6:35:00 PM
Description: Al Jefferson won't be on the floor Wednesday against Cleveland. The Utah center is still struggling with a sprained left ankle.
Insight: Jefferson (17.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg) hasn't appeared in a game since last Wednesday. Fantasy owners should look to add Derrick Favors (16 ppg, 12.3 rpg in his last three games) or Enes Kanter (20.5 ppg, 16 rpg over his last two games) until Jefferson is cleared to play again.
DeMarre Carroll, SF3/6/2013 6:27:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward DeMarre Carroll will start Wednesday's game against Cleveland, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.
Insight: Carroll is averaging 12 ppg over his last four contests. He'll bump the disappointing Marvin Williams to the bench.
Mo Williams, PG3/6/2013 5:03:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams (thumb) is expected to play Wednesday against Cleveland, according to the Jazz' official Twitter.
Insight: Williams (12.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 6.7 apg) hasn't played since Dec. 22 due to a torn thumb ligament but he'll move back into the starting lineup.
Mo Williams, PG3/5/2013 5:25:00 PM
Description: While Jazz guard Mo Williams (thumb) is listed as out for Wednesday's game, coach Ty Corbin said he isn't ruling him out until they see how he feels during Wednesday's shootaround.
Insight: Williams (12.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 6.7 apg), who hasn't played since Dec. 22 due to a torn thumb ligament, is getting closer to a return. He has gone through two full-contact practices. He was averaging 12.9 points and 6.7 assists per game prior to the injury and will move back into his starting role when he returns to action.
Al Jefferson, C3/5/2013 1:35:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson missed Tuesday's practice and is doubtful for Wednesday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: Jefferson sprained his ankle last Wednesday against the Hawks and hasn't appeared in a game since. Although Derrick Favors started at center in the last game, Enes Kanter has averaged 20.5 ppg and 16 rpg in the two games since Jefferson has been sidelined and is a viable fantasy option.
Enes Kanter, CHot3/5/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: Utah backup center Enes Kanter has exploded while starter Al Jefferson has been sidelined, averaging 20.5 ppg and 16 rpg over the past two games.
Insight: Kanter's performance is the reason the Jazz were looking to trade Jefferson and/or PF Paul Millsap at the deadline. Those in keeper league should stash Kanter on their bench if he's still a free agent.
Paul Millsap, F3/4/2013 10:52:00 PM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap returned in style, posting 22 points and 14 boards Monday in his first game back from a sprained ankle.
Insight: Millsap's prescence couldn't prevent the Jazz from dropping its fourth contest in their last five games. They'll look to right the ship Wednesday night in Cleveland.
Derrick Favors, F3/4/2013 10:47:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Derrick Favors stepped up with 23 points and 15 rebounds Monday against Milwaukee.
Insight: That's much better than the lousy eight point, seven rebound line he produced Friday night versus Charlotte. The potential for greatness is there but Favors needs to develop more consistency.
Paul Millsap, F3/4/2013 7:52:00 PM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap is back in the lineup after missing the team's last two games with a left ankle injury.
Insight: Millsap's return pushes Marvin Williams back to the bench. Millsap (15.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg) scored 19 points in 37 minutes when he faced the Bucks earlier this season.
Al Jefferson, C3/4/2013 7:49:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson is out for Monday night's game against Milwaukee.
Insight: Jefferson sprained his ankle Wednesday against the Hawks and hasn't appeared in a game since. Jefferson's replacement Enes Kanter played well Friday against Charlotte (23 points, 22 boards) and should be worth a start again tonight.
Paul Millsap, F3/4/2013 1:53:00 PM
Description: Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap is questionable for Monday's game against Milwaukee with an ankle injury.
Insight: Utah is already missing Al Jefferson so we could get another chance to see what the future holds for the Jazz frontcourt of Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter.
Al Jefferson, C3/4/2013 1:51:00 PM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson missed Friday's game and is expected to be sidelined for Monday's game against Milwaukee due to a sprained ankle.
Insight: Given the great performance from Enes Kanter (23 points, 22 rebounds) against Charlotte, the Jazz have the luxury of allowing Jefferson to rest since he's obviously not 100 percent.
Al Jefferson, C3/2/2013 1:35:00 PM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson missed Friday's game and is questionable for Monday's game against Milwaukee due to a sprained ankle.
Insight: Given the great performance from Enes Kanter (23 points, 22 rebounds) against Charlotte, the Jazz have the luxury of allowing Jefferson to rest if he's not 100 percent on Monday.
Paul Millsap, F3/1/2013 8:03:00 PM
Description: Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap will miss Friday's game with an ankle injury, according to Bill Oram of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Insight: Utah is also missing Al Jefferson so we are going to see what Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter can do as the starting frontcourt tandem.
Paul Millsap, F3/1/2013 2:32:00 PM
Description: Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap is questionable for Friday's game against Charlotte. He'll be a game-time decision (ankle)
Insight: With Millsap questionable and Al Jefferson doubtful, get Derrick Favors in the lineup.
Al Jefferson, C3/1/2013 2:30:00 PM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson missed Thursday's practice with an ankle injury and has been downgraded to doubtful for Friday's game, according to the Jazz website.
Insight: Paul Millsap is also dealing with an ankle injury and will be a game-time decision. Derrick Favors could get his fantasy relevance extended for a few more games.
Al Jefferson, C2/28/2013 1:08:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson missed Thursday's practice with an ankle injury and is questionable for Friday's game, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.
Insight: Paul Millsap is also dealing with an ankle injury and missed Wednesday's game. He wasn't at practice either due to the birth of his child but it is unclear if he would have been physically able to participate. Derrick Favors could get his fantasy relevance extended for a few more games.
Derrick Favors, F2/28/2013 11:36:00 AM
Description: Utah power forward Derrick Favors had 17 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks in 38 minutes in a spot start Wednesday.
Insight: Favors was filling in for Paul Millsap (sprained ankle). His value is capped when Al Jefferson and Millsap are both healthy, but he has tremendous upside. The big man is still just 21 years old despite having 196 games of NBA experience. Jefferson and Millsap are both free agents so the Jazz will probably turn Favors loose next season.
Derrick Favors, F2/27/2013 8:30:00 PM
Description: Utah power forward Derrick Favors will get the start Wednesday against the Hawks.
Insight: He's filling in for Paul Millsap (sprained ankle). The 21-year-old has averaged 8.5 ppg in his two starts this season.
Paul Millsap, F2/27/2013 8:15:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Paul Millsap will miss Wednesday's game with an ankle injury.
Insight: Millsap played 36 minutes after spraining his ankle in the first quarter on Monday, but he probably experienced swelling after the game. Get Derrick Favors in the lineup for his one-game boost in value.
Paul Millsap, F2/27/2013 1:29:00 PM
Description: Utah PF Paul Millsap missed practice on Tuesday and Wednesday morning's shootaround after rolling his ankle in Monday night's loss to Boston. He's listed as a game-time decision.
Insight: Millsap is playing well this season, posting 15.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.6 apg and 1.1 bpg. If he's sidelined, Derrick Favors would see the bulk of his playing time. In two starts this season, Favors has averaged 8.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg.
Paul Millsap, F2/26/2013 4:20:00 PM
Description: Utah PF Paul Millsap missed practice on Tuesday after rolling his ankle in Monday night's loss to Boston. He's listed as a game-time decision for Wednesday's game, according to Bill Oram of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Gordon Hayward, SF2/24/2013 9:29:00 AM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward had 23 points with eight rebounds, three assists and one steal while making 13-of-14 from the free-throw line in 34 minutes Saturday night versus the Clippers.
Insight: Hayward looks to be fully recovered from the shoulder sprain that caused him to miss 10 games. He's averaging 20 ppg in two games since making his return.
Gordon Hayward, SF2/19/2013 7:53:00 PM
Description: Utah shooting guard Gordon Hayward (right shoulder) will return to action Tuesday against Golden State. SOURCE: Jody Genessy, Deseret News
Insight: Hayward has missed 10 straight games with a sprained shoulder. He's a decent enough scorer when healthy (13.5 ppg), though he doesn't contribute much in the other categories (2.9 rpb, 2.5 apg, 0.7 spg, 0.6 bpg).
Gordon Hayward, SF2/19/2013 1:46:00 PM
Description: Utah shooting guard Gordon Hayward (right shoulder) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Golden State
Insight: Hayward has missed 10 straight games. He's a decent enough scorer when healthy (13.5 ppg), though he doesn't contribute much in the other categories (2.9 rpb, 2.5 apg, 0.7 spg, 0.6 bpg) therefore his fantasy value is limited.
Paul Millsap, F2/18/2013 7:56:00 PM
Description: The Paul Millsap/Eric Bledsoe trade rumors appear to be losing steam. SOURCE: Dan Woike, Orange County Register
Insight: With Los Angeles trailing San Antonio by just four games in the race for the Western Conference's No. 1 seed, the Clippers will likely stand pat. The Jazz could look elsewhere to deal Millsap (15.1 ppg, 7.4 rpg), who is expected to net a contract of at least $10 million a season in free agency this summer.
Paul Millsap, F2/17/2013 9:50:00 AM
Description: ESPN Los Angeles reports that the Clippers and Jazz are talking about a Paul Millsap for Eric Bledsoe trade.
Insight: Bledsoe might be an upgrade over Utah's current starter at point guard, Jamaal Tinsley (4.0 ppg, 5.0 apg) but Millsap's role in Los Angeles wouldn't be quite as clear. Millsap (15.1 ppg, 7.4 rpg) plays the same position as Blake Griffin (18.5, 8.7 rpg), so he might have to settle for a sixth man role if this trade ever materializes.
Gordon Hayward, SF2/9/2013 9:24:00 PM
Description: Utah shooting guard Gordon Hayward (shoulder) worked out prior to Saturday's game but he is still unavailable to play. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Hayward has missed seven straight and Saturday will make eight. Guard Randy Foye is averaging 15.6 points with 2.7 threes and 4.1 assists in 34.5 minutes in the last seven games.
Al Jefferson, CHot2/9/2013 9:51:00 AM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson's 32 points and 13 rebounds were both game-highs but they weren't enough to lift Utah to victory Friday night against Chicago.
Insight: The 32 points represent a new season-high for Jefferson. He's averaging 19.8 ppg for the month of February, which is 2.4 ppg higher than his season average (17.4 ppg).
Gordon Hayward, SF2/6/2013 5:15:00 PM
Description: Utah shooting guard Gordon Hayward has been ruled out for Wednesday's game due to a shoulder sprain.
Insight: This will be the sixth game in a row Hayward has missed. Randy Foye, who is averaging 15.8 ppg in 32 mpg over his last 12 games, should be active in all fantasy leagues.
Gordon Hayward, SF2/4/2013 8:19:00 PM
Description: Utah shooting guard Gordon Hayward won't play Monday against Sacramento. He's still out with a sprained shoulder.
Insight: This will be the fifth game in a row Hayward has missed. Randy Foye (11.7 ppg) has seen an uptick in playing time and points during Hayward's absence (15.8 ppg in 34.5 mpg).
Gordon Hayward, SF2/4/2013 11:20:00 AM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward is doubtful for Monday's game against Sacramento. Hayward hasn't played in the team's last four games because of a sprained shoulder.
Insight: Hayward is getting closer to a return but he's still not quite there yet. His absence means more playing time for Randy Foye (11.7 ppg) and Marvin Williams (8.6 ppg).
Earl Watson, G2/2/2013 9:19:00 PM
Description: Jazz point guard Earl Watson is out indefinitely after an MRI revealed a small stress fracture in his right leg.
Insight: Watson is a terrible shooter (30 percent for the season) but a decent ballhandler and a solid distributor (4.2 apg). With that said, he only plays about 18 minutes a game so fantasy owners shouldn't miss him too badly.
Gordon Hayward, SF2/2/2013 9:10:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward is a no-go for Saturday's game against the Blazers. Hayward hasn't played since last Saturday because of a sprained shoulder.
Insight: Hayward is getting closer to a return but he's still not quite there yet. His absence means more playing time for Randy Foye (11.5 ppg) and Marvin Williams (8.5 ppg).
Gordon Hayward, SF2/1/2013 8:11:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Gordon Hayward (shoulder) won't play Friday. He said that while his shoulder is improving, he is still feeling pain in certain movements. SOURCE: David Locke, Jazz radio broadcaster
Insight: Hayward has been a solid contributor averaging 13.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg but he's dealing with a sprained right shoulder. Friday will be his third straight absence and he might not be ready for Saturday either.
Gordon Hayward, SF2/1/2013 4:10:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Gordon Hayward (shoulder) missed the morning shootaround and is expected to miss Friday's game.
Insight: Hayward has been a solid contributor averaging 13.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg but he's dealing with a sprained right shoulder. Friday will likely be his third straight absence.
Gordon Hayward, SF1/31/2013 1:23:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Gordon Hayward (shoulder) is doubtful for Friday's game. SOURCE: Jody Genessy, Deseret News
Insight: Hayward has been a solid contributor averaging 13.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg but he's dealing with a sprained right shoulder. Friday would be his third straight absence.
Paul Millsap, F1/31/2013 10:14:00 AM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap helped the Jazz beat New Orleans Wednesday night with 25 points on 7-of-12 shooting, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 34 minutes.
Insight: Millsap bounced back from a four-point effort Monday. He's averaging 15.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks in January.
Gordon Hayward, SF1/30/2013 1:32:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Gordon Hayward won't play Wednesday night versus New Orleans due to his sprained right shoulder.
Insight: Hayward has been a solid contributor averaging 13.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg. He's been very durable and Monday's missed game was his first since 2010.
Gordon Hayward, SF1/28/2013 7:59:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Gordon Hayward won't be on the floor for Monday's night tilt against Houston. Hayward sprained his shoulder last weekend in a win over Indiana.
Insight: This will be the first game Hayward (13.5 ppg) has missed since his rookie season in 2010-11. Consider him a question mark for Wednesday's matchup versus the Hornets.
Mo Williams, PG1/28/2013 11:15:00 AM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams had surgery on his right thumb on Jan 4 and isn't scheduled to be evaluated until mid-February despite his being involved in layup drills this week.
Insight: Williams (12.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 6.7 apg) isn't likely to return to the Jazz lineup until March.
Gordon Hayward, SF1/28/2013 11:11:00 AM
Description: Utah Jazz guard Gordon Hayward, who suffered a grade-1 right shoulder sprain late in Saturday's game against Indiana, is questionable for Monday's game against Houston.
Insight: Hayward is averaging 13.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg this season, primarily off the bench. His absence would mean more PT for Marvin Williams.
Gordon Hayward, SF1/27/2013 1:12:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward suffered a grade-1 right shoulder sprain late in Saturday's game against Indiana, but X-rays came back negative. Hayward is considered day-to-day. SOURCE: Jonathan Rinehart, Utah Jazz PR Director
Insight: Hayward is averaging 14.5 ppg in January, his best for any month this season. Utah next plays Monday against the Rockets.
Paul Millsap, F1/27/2013 10:19:00 AM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap is enjoying his best month of the season in January with averages of 15.8 points on 50.3 percent shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in 12 games.
Insight: Millsap is getting nearly 32 minutes per game this month, up two minutes from December.
Al Jefferson, CHot1/27/2013 10:15:00 AM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson averaged just 12.3 points in the three games prior to Saturday but he put up 25 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block while making 11-of-20 from the field Saturday night against the Pacers.
Insight: Jefferson's 20 field goal attempts were his most this month. With 17.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.1 blocks, 1.2 turnovers and .478/.846 shooting percentages, Jefferson is one of the top commodities in fantasy basketball.
Gordon Hayward, SF1/15/2013 4:53:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward is averaging 15.4 points on 47.2 percent shooting over his last 13 games.
Insight: Hayward's season averages leave him just outside the top-100 overall in Yahoo! leagues. His 23 blocks rank seventh among shooting-guard eligible players.
Jamaal Tinsley, G1/14/2013 10:06:00 AM
Description: Jazz backup point guard Jamaal Tinsley is questionable for Monday's game against Miami due to an illness.
Insight: Tinsley is only getting about 20 minutes of court time and producing 3.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 5.1 apg which certainly isn't enough to help fantasy lineups.
Marvin Williams, F1/13/2013 11:20:00 AM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams (knee) could return to the lineup as soon as Monday against the Heat. "Marvin's coming around," coach Ty Corbin said. "We'll see when we get back (to Utah)." SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: Williams has missed three straight games with right knee inflammation. The small forward is only averaging 8.9 points and 3.5 boards per game this season so fantasy owners shouldn't be desperate to have him back.
Paul Millsap, F1/12/2013 10:54:00 PM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap has enjoyed the month of January. In seven games this month, the power forward is averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks.
Insight: Millsap is shooting 52.7 percent from the field on 13 attempts in January. He only attempted 10.9 shots per game in December but has benefited from an increase of 2.0 minutes per game.
Randy Foye, G1/12/2013 10:48:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Randy Foye drilled three more treys Saturday against the Pistons. He has made 14 shots from long distance over his last four games.
Insight: Foye scored 17 points with two steals in Saturday's game but also turned the ball over five times with zero assists and one rebound. Foye offers virtually nothing in the latter two categories and should only be relied upon for threes in deep leagues.
Al Jefferson, CHot1/12/2013 10:41:00 PM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson has poured in 20-plus points in three straight games with double-digit rebounds in two of them.
Insight: Jefferson has made 31-of-52 (.596) from the field in that span. He had 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and four steals Saturday at Detroit.
Paul Millsap, F1/11/2013 10:40:00 PM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap had another solid game Friday against the Hawks. He finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and five assists as the Jazz fell 103-95.
Insight: Millsap's versatility is one of the reasons why he's so valuable in fantasy. Friday was his eighth double-double of the season.
Randy Foye, G1/11/2013 10:34:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Randy Foye was a sizzling 6-of-7 from three-point range Friday against the Hawks.
Insight: He finished the game with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Foye is only averaging 11 ppg this season but every once in a while he'll blow up and have a monster game like this.
Al Jefferson, C1/9/2013 10:41:00 PM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson roughed up the Bobcats for 26 points Wednesday in Charlotte.
Insight: Jefferson shot an impressive 11-of-15 from the field. Jefferson's next game is Friday night in Atlanta. He scored 28 the last time he played the Hawks back in March.
Marvin Williams, F1/8/2013 4:51:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams (knee) will be sidelined for at least three games due to right knee inflammation. He underwent treatment Tuesday morning and the team wants to see how he'll respond. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Williams' 8.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game will be easily replaceable. In fact, fantasy owners might want to take this chance to move on from the forward completely.
Enes Kanter, C1/7/2013 8:34:00 PM
Description: Utah center Enes Kanter will be in the lineup Monday against Dallas. Kanter had missed the team's last two games with a sprained ankle.
Insight: Kanter's return is noteworthy because it means fewer minutes for Derrick Favors. Kanter (6.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg) is a good young player but he's not someone you'd want to start in a fantasy league.
Al Jefferson, C1/5/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson hasn't had a double-double in his last four games but he has scored 85 points with 11 blocks in that stretch.
Insight: Jefferson is shooting 48.3 percent from the field and a near-perfect 97.4 percent from the foul line (37-38 FT) in his last 14 games.
Derrick Favors, F1/5/2013 10:32:00 AM
Description: Jazz forward Derrick Favors is averaging 9.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.3 blocks in 22 minutes over his last 11 games.
Insight: Favors has been cutting into Paul Millsap's minutes and received even more playing time -- 31:30, second-most minutes this season -- Friday against Phoenix with fellow youngster Enes Kanter out with an ankle injury.
Paul Millsap, F1/5/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, three assists and five steals in 32 minutes and 32 seconds of playing time Friday against the Suns.
Insight: It was just the second time in the last 11 games that Millsap has played 30 minutes. He's only averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals in that span; those aren't the numbers we have come to expect from Millsap.
Enes Kanter, C1/4/2013 8:00:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Enes Kanter won't play on Friday at Phoenix due to a sprained right ankle. SOURCE: Jody Genessey, Deseret News
Insight: Kanter is coming off a 15-point, eight-rebound game against the Timberwolves but has only averaged 6.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 15 minutes per game this season. Derrick Favors could pick up more minutes as a result of Kanter's absence.
Mo Williams, PG1/2/2013 7:41:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams will undergo surgery on his right thumb on Friday. He'll be in a splint for six weeks before being re-evaluated. SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: Williams sprained his right thumb nearly two weeks ago but his first MRI revealed unspecified damage and he had been waiting for the swelling to go down to have another test. Unfortunately, the second MRI revealed what was ultimately a worst-case scenario for fantasy owners.
Mo Williams, PG1/2/2013 4:50:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams is heading to New York to finally have the second MRI on his sprained right thumb. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Williams sprained his right thumb nearly two weeks ago but his first MRI revealed unspecified damage and he has been waiting for the swelling to go down to have another test. The second MRI should allow the team to produce a timetable for his return.
Marvin Williams, F1/2/2013 3:15:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams is questionable for Wednesday's game against Minnesota due to right knee inflammation.
Insight: Williams is simply not putting up the production he did in Atlanta. Even then he never seemed to play up to his potential. He's currently averaging 9.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 0.9 apg.
Paul Millsap, FCold12/31/2012 1:54:00 PM
Description: Utah power forward Paul Millsap played a season-low 20 minutes Sunday versus the Clippers and was on the bench for the entire fourth quarter.
Insight: Millsap, who finished the night with nine points on 2-of-7 shooting, has been losing minutes to Derrick Favors and no longer appears to be a reliable fantasy option. He's only played 30 minutes once in his last seven appearances.
Gordon Hayward, SF12/29/2012 10:11:00 AM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward is averaging 14.5 points on 52.9 percent shooting his last four games.
Insight: Hayward's shot attempts have been inconsistent and he hasn't shot well when given more opportunities this season. He's a low-level fantasy guard.
Paul Millsap, FCold12/29/2012 10:09:00 AM
Description: Jazz forward Paul Millsap is only averaging 12.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks per game in his last eight.
Insight: Millsap scored 20-plus in four straight before his current stretch of eight straight games without a 20-point game. He hasn't shot any worse than his season average during that span but has attempted just 9.1 field goals per game compared to a season average of 11.2.
Al Jefferson, C12/29/2012 9:49:00 AM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson made seven baskets on 17 attempts Friday against the Clippers while also hitting all eight of his free throws. He finished with 22 points and eight rebounds with two steals and two blocks in 33 minutes.
Insight: Jefferson's points are down 2.7 per game but his rebounds are up and he's also shooting a career-best 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.
Randy Foye, G12/29/2012 9:45:00 AM
Description: Jazz shooting guard Randy Foye bested his previous season high by eight points Friday night, scoring 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting and making 5-of-9 from 3-point range. He added five rebounds.
Insight: Foye has started the last 21 games for Utah but his production has actually dipped despite playing more minutes.
Mo Williams, PG12/28/2012 8:11:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams said the swelling has almost subsided in his thumb to get another MRI, but there is still no timetable for his return. SOURCE: Jody Genessy, Deseret News
Insight: Williams sprained his right thumb last week but his first MRI revealed unspecified damage and he has been waiting for the swelling to go down to have another test. He's out indefinitely.
Mo Williams, PG12/23/2012 6:14:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams will have another MRI when the team gets back to Salt Lake City after the first one revealed unspecified damage. SOURCE: Jody Genessy, Deseret News
Insight: Williams said Saturday that the injury remindeded him of when he tore a ligament in his thumb in 2008, requiring offseason surgery. He's out indefinitely until the team can re-examine him once the swelling subsides. Williams said he figured the injury was "significant" when it caused him a lot of pain during his daily routine.
Mo Williams, PGCold12/23/2012 12:20:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams left Saturday's game with a sprained right thumb. He'll have an MRI to see if there is any ligament damage. SOURCE: Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Williams said the injury remindeded him of when he tore a ligament in his thumb in 2008, requiring offseason surgery. "It's the same feeling," Williams said. "I'm just crossing my fingers that the MRI is negative." The Jazz said Saturday that the team is still deciding if the MRI will take place Sunday in Orlando or once the team returns to Utah. He's doubtful to play Sunday against the Magic. Jamaal Tinsley and Earl Watson will handle PG duties, with Tinsley serving as a decent add for assist-needy fantasy owners.
Paul Millsap, FHot12/22/2012 10:34:00 PM
Description: With 11 points Saturday against the Heat, Jazz power forward Paul Millsap is only averaging 10.8 ppg his last five games.
Insight: Millsap scored 20-plus in four straight before a current five-game stretch in which he has tallied a high of 12 points. This is the second time this season he has followed up a brief stretch of dominance with some mediocrity -- he averaged 25.3 ppg from Nov. 12-16 but only 9.8 ppg his next nine.
Al Jefferson, CCold12/22/2012 10:31:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson has scored just 10 points total his last two games while shooting 3-for-16. He at least chipped in with 11 rebounds and two blocks Saturday after picking up six boards to go with four points Wednesday.
Insight: Jefferson has been excellent this season so there's no reason to think this is anything more than a simple cold streak, unless it's related to the back spasms that caused him to miss a game earlier this month.
Mo Williams, PGCold12/22/2012 9:27:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams left Saturday's game with a sprained right thumb. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune

Description: Jazz forward Derrick Favors played his most minutes since Nov. 23 Tuesday against Brooklyn and scored 13 points with two rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
Insight: Favors was in the game for 25 minutes, the first time he has logged 20 minutes in four games since returning from plantar fasciitis.
Marvin Williams, F12/18/2012 10:38:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams had his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes Tuesday.
Insight: Williams has managed to have less fantasy value in Utah than he did in Atlanta the last few seasons.
Mo Williams, PGCold12/18/2012 10:33:00 PM
Description: Utah point guard Mo Williams scored 19 points on 6-of-17 shooting with six assists and two rebounds Tuesday at Brooklyn, matching his combined point total for the previous three games.
Insight: Williams didn't exactly heat up Tuesday but did hit three 3-pointers and all four of his free throws. However, he's only shooting 35 percent from the field in his last four games.
Josh Howard, SF12/17/2012 10:07:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves forward Josh Howard is doubtful for Monday's game against Orlando with a hyperextended right knee.
Insight: Howard (6.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.4 apg) was about to see a dip in his playing time anyway what with the return of SF Andrei Kirilenko and guard Ricky Rubio to the Minnesota lineup.
Mo Williams, PG12/16/2012 11:24:00 AM
Description: Utah point guard Mo Williams has only scored 19 points combined his last three games after putting in 22 on Dec. 9
Insight: Williams hasn't attempted more than nine shots and is only shooting 34.8 percent during that span to make matters worse.
Josh Howard, SF12/14/2012 2:20:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Josh Howard is probable for Friday's game against New Orleans after illness kept him out of the game versus Denver.
Insight: Howard (7.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.4 apg) might actually start at guard for injured Malcolm Lee, though more than likely he'll backup Alexey Shved.
Paul Millsap, FHot12/13/2012 9:35:00 AM
Description: Jazz power forward Paul Millsap tossed in 24 points while muscling his way to 12 rebounds Wednesday in a 99-96 win over San Antonio.
Insight: Millsap even found time to dish out five assists, which ties a season-high. He's averaging 20.6 ppg over his last five contests and has arguably been Utah's best player this season.
Derrick Favors, F12/12/2012 10:00:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Derrick Favors will return to action Wednesday against the Spurs after missing five games in a row with plantar fasciitis.
Insight: Favors is posting career-highs in scoring (9.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg) and has emerged as one of the NBA's most talented shot blockers. Start him if you've got him.
Derrick Favors, F12/12/2012 10:51:00 AM
Description: Utah PF/C Derrick Favors (foot) has been upgraded to probable and will be a game-time decision Wednesday against San Antonio.
Insight: Favors (9.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.9 bpg) has been sidelined with plantar fasciitis recently, missing the team's last five games. He'll return to a reserve role behind starting power forward Marvin Williams (10.3 ppg).

Description: Jazz forward Paul Millsap has produced three consecutive games with at least 20 points after failing to reach that mark in nine straight.
Insight: Millsap went off for 25.3 ppg over a three-game stretch from Nov. 12-16 but averaged just 10.8 ppg in his next nine games. He'll try to extend his 20-point streak to four games Wednesday versus San Antonio.
Al Jefferson, C12/10/2012 11:25:00 AM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson (back spasms) returned to the lineup Sunday against the Lakers after a one-game absence and scored 14 points with 11 rebounds and one block in 30 minutes.
Insight: Jefferson wanted to play Friday but the Jazz coaching staff decided to play it safe and give him the night off. He's one of fantasy's top big men so hopefully his $23,000 bed can keep his back nice and limber.
Mo Williams, PG12/10/2012 11:24:00 AM
Description: Utah point guard Mo Williams is averaging 15.2 points and 8.5 assists in six games since returning from a foot injury.
Insight: Williams (14.2 ppg, 7.2 apg) has dealt with a variety of injuries all season but has still been a strong fantasy producer. Owners are going to have to worry more about his health than a decline in production as the season goes on.
Derrick Favors, F12/10/2012 10:19:00 AM
Description: Jazz forward Derrick Favors (plantar fasciitis) was medically cleared to play Sunday but ended up shutting things down after feeling some pain during pre-game warmups. Favors could return for Wednesday's game if he can bear the pain. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Favors (9.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.9 bpg) has missed five straight games with his foot injury. He said he didn't feel like Sunday was a major setback.

Al Jefferson, C12/7/2012 1:50:00 PM
Description: Utah Jazz center Al Jefferson doesn't expect to miss time with back spasms, but he's listed as questionable for Friday night's game with Toronto.
Insight: Jefferson left Wednesday's game with the ailment. Back spasms can be tricky because they can pop up at any time, but the big man didn't seem concerned about his status for Friday's game. Still, 17.4 ppg, 10.7 rpg guys are rare and can't be replaced when they are forced to sit. Watch this one carefully as we approach game-time.

Description: Utah forward Derrick Favors will be a game-time decision Friday against Toronto. He's missed the last three games with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

Insight: Williams is averaging 10.4 ppg this season, which is about what you'd expect from him. He averaged 7.5 ppg in two games against the Magic last season.
Marvin Williams, F12/5/2012 12:18:00 PM
Description: Utah SF Marvin Williams (10.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.1 apg) is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Orlando. He's suffering from concussion symptoms.

Derrick Favors, F12/5/2012 12:16:00 PM
Description: An MRI on Jazz forward Derrick Favors' foot confirmed that the big man has plantar fasciitis. He missed Monday's game against the Clippers.
Insight: Favors had his foot re-examined Monday after his previous test results were inconclusive. Plantar fasciitis has a tendency to linger, which isn't good for Favors' fantasy value.
Josh Howard, SF12/4/2012 9:51:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Josh Howard scored 16 points with 10 boards Tuesday against the 76ers, both season highs.
Insight: Howard has started the last three games at small forward for Minnesota. He's going to have to prove he can do this consistently before we recommend him as a fantasy option.

Description: After Jazz F/C Derrick Favors exited with a foot sprain, Enes Kanter stepped in with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds Friday against the Thunder.

Description: Utah forward Derrick Favors left Friday's game versus the Thunder with a strained arch on his right foot and will not return. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Favors had zero points and two turnovers in nine minutes before he left the game. The forward-center came in averaging 9.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson and Enes Kanter would likely absorb Favors' minutes if the 21-year-old has to miss any time.

Derrick Favors, F11/25/2012 11:08:00 AM
Description: Utah forward Derrick Favors has scored less than 10 points in four of his last five games.
Insight: His one double-digit scoring effort was a 16-point, 14-rebound performance Friday against the Kings. Favors should be owned in most formats because he provides elite production in blocked shots and is a solid rebounder but owners should expect inconsistent scoring production as Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin tinkers with his rotation.

Description: Jazz guard Jamaal Tinsley started in place of the injured Mo Williams Saturday and had 14 points with seven assists and two rebounds.

Insight: Bell played for Mike D'Antoni while in Phoenix so perhaps that is what's fueling the Lakers' interest. Bell hasn't played a single game for the Jazz this season. At this point, it's pretty obvious that Utah is trying to shop him.
Derrick Favors, F11/23/2012 7:52:00 PM
Description: Utah forward Derrick Favors will be active for Friday's game against Sacramento. Favors missed practice earlier in the week because of a bruised right knee.
Insight: He's also been dealing with a bruised ankle. Favors might not be as productive as usual playing banged up tonight against the Kings, a team that has limited him to just 6.8 ppg in eight prior meetings.

Description: Utah Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said he will start a big lineup with Derrick Favors joining Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap Monday against the Rockets. SOURCE: Steve Luhm, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Favors also started Saturday's game against Washington and played 29 minutes. The 21-year-old has provided fantasy owners with averages of 9.5 points, 7.6 rebounds 1.1 steals and 2.2 blocks in 11 games this season.
Al Jefferson, C11/17/2012 10:28:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson broke out for 21 points and 13 rebounds Saturday in a win over the Wizards.
Insight: It's the third time in five games Jefferson has registered at least 20 points. He also matched a season-high with two blocked shots. Utah's next game is Monday night against the Rockets.
Mo Williams, PG11/17/2012 2:59:00 PM
Description: Utah point guard Mo Williams (thumb) will be a game-time decision Saturday versus the Wizards. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Williams injured his thumb Monday against Toronto and hit it from a different angle on the first play Friday versus Philadelphia, according to Oram. Williams missed a game earlier this month with a strained right abductor muscle but is averaging 16 points and 6.9 assists per game.
DeMarre Carroll, SF11/16/2012 10:42:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward DeMarre Carroll was perfect from the field and foul line Friday in a career night against the 76ers.
Insight: Carroll shot 6-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe for 17 points. He also had five rebounds, two steals and zero turnovers in 23 minutes. Carroll has only played in five of Utah's 10 games this season so he's not much of a fantasy factor despite Friday's effort.
Paul Millsap, FHot11/16/2012 10:38:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Paul Millsap is on fire, averaging 23.5 points and 10.3 rebounds his last four games.
Insight: Millsap has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games this season and has reached the 20-point mark in three straight. When you factor in his 1.4 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.0 3PM per game, Millsap is one of fantasy's best all-around players.
Josh Howard, SF11/16/2012 12:10:00 PM
Description: Josh Howard passed his physical, was at the morning shootaround and is expected to dress for Friday's game against Golden State.
Insight: It's been three years and three teams since Howard was a factor in the fantasy world. We don't expect him to see enough time in Minnesota to be of value to fantasy owners.
Mo Williams, PG11/13/2012 2:02:00 PM
Description: Utah point guard Mo Williams is questionable for Wednesday's game against Boston with a sore right groin.
Insight: This is what happens when you play an injury-prone 29-year-old 50 minutes a game. Sure, he scored 17 and dished out 14 assists, but now his availability is in question.
Al Jefferson, PFHot11/12/2012 10:45:00 PM
Description: Jazz center Al Jefferson turned in a monster fantasy game Monday versus the Raptors. In 49 minutes of action, Jefferson notched 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as Utah won 140-133 in triple-overtime.
Insight: That's back-to-back excellent games for the nine-year veteran. Jefferson's next game is against his former team the Celtics Wednesday night in Boston.
Paul Millsap, F11/12/2012 10:41:00 PM
Description: Forward Paul Millsap led the Jazz with 34 points in 44 minutes of playing time Monday versus Toronto.
Insight: This was Millsap's highest scoring output of the season. The 27-year-old was an extremely efficient 11-for-16 from the field and is now shooting 67 percent over his last two games.
Mo Williams, PG11/12/2012 6:51:00 PM
Description: Utah point guard Mo Williams will start Monday night's game against Toronto. Williams missed Saturday's win over Phoenix because of an injured groin.
Insight: In six games Williams has averaged 16.8 ppg, his highest scoring output since 2009 when he scored 17.8 ppg for the Cavaliers.
Jamaal Tinsley, G11/11/2012 6:12:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Jamaal Tinsley started in place of the injured Mo Williams Saturday and had 14 assists with zero points.
Insight: Pretty unselfish. Williams has a strained abductor muscle so he could miss a few games. Tinsley might be able to help in deeper leagues.
Al Jefferson, PF11/11/2012 10:10:00 AM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson scored a season-high 27 points and tied a season best with 14 rebounds Saturday against the Suns. Jefferson shot 12-of-20 and had two assists, a steal and two blocks.
Insight: Jefferson hit just 1-of-9 shots for four points Friday so it's good to see him bounce back immediately. He's averaging 14.0 ppg and 10.7 rpg with four double-doubles in seven games this season.
Mo Williams, PGHot11/10/2012 8:21:00 PM
Description: Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said he doesn't think guard Mo Williams (right abductor strain) will play Saturday against the Suns. SOURCE: Paul Coro, Arizona Republic
Insight: Williams (16.8 ppg, 6.3 apg) averaged 20.2 points and 6.8 assists in his first five games but he had just two points and four assists in an injury-shortened appearance Friday. Jamaal Tinsley will start if Williams can't play.
Al Jefferson, PF11/9/2012 6:53:00 PM
Description: Utah center Al Jefferson will play Friday night against the Nuggets despite a stomach illness that has kept him out of practice the past few days.
Insight: Jefferson has recorded double-digit rebounds in three out of his five games this season. He averaged 20 ppg in three meetings against Denver in 2011-12.
Al Jefferson, PF11/8/2012 3:31:00 PM
Description: Jazz F/C Al Jefferson is questionable for Friday's game due to a stomach virus. SOURCE: Bill Oram, Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Jefferson is expected to travel to Denver with the team before being re-evaluated. The 27-year-old is averaging 10.0 rebounds per game through five contests but his 13.4 ppg and 0.8 bpg are a little underwhelming.
Derrick Favors, F11/5/2012 10:44:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Derrick Favors had his first double-digit scoring effort of the season Monday against the Grizzlies. Favors finished with 14 points with eight rebounds, three steals and a block on 6-of-12 shooting.
Insight: We're still waiting for Favors to consistently crack this Utah big man rotation but he has a ton of upside as a 21-year-old with two years of NBA experience. While the scoring hasn't been there yet, Favors has contributed 7.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals per game this season.
Marvin Williams, G11/5/2012 10:41:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams scored 21 points in his debut with the team, but he's produced just 19 combined in the next three games.
Insight: Like we said, Williams wasn't going to magically become a 20-point scorer after averaging close to 10 the last three seasons in Atlanta. Leave him on the free agent wire.
Mo Williams, PGHot11/5/2012 10:35:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams has attempted 16 shots per game in Utah's first four contests after hoisting just 11.8 last season with the Clippers. Williams is off to a hot start, averaging 20.8 points with 6.8 assists per game.
Insight: Williams has been set free by the Jazz. With all of Utah's big men clogging the paint, the veteran should continue to have plenty of space to work with on the perimeter.
Gordon Hayward, SF11/5/2012 10:30:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Gordon Hayward scored 19 points with five rebounds, two assists and a steal Monday in Utah's fourth game of the season.
Insight: Hayward has started off averaging 14.8 in four games this season after posting 16.1 ppg in the final month of last season.
Randy Foye, G11/2/2012 10:39:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Randy Foye nailed four 3-pointers off the bench Friday in a loss to the Hornets.
Insight: Foye finished with 20 points after scoring 13 in the opener. He'll continue to come off the bench but should provide average production if you need threes.
Marvin Williams, G11/1/2012 4:05:00 PM
Description: Jazz forward Marvin Williams was excellent in his regular season debut with the team, scoring 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting with three rebounds, one assist, a steal and a block.
Insight: Williams has never averaged more than 14.8 ppg in any season and didn't exceed 10.4 in any of the last three so he's not going to suddenly become a 20 ppg scorer. However, he could be a decent fantasy forward now that he's away from the burden of missed expectations in Atlanta.
Mo Williams, PG11/1/2012 4:03:00 PM
Description: Jazz guard Mo Williams had 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting and six assists in his team debut Wednesday night.
Insight: Williams dealt with some minor injuries during the preseason but he looked healthy Wednesday. The veteran is going to be relied upon heavily to score for Utah so make sure he's in your lineup.
Paul Millsap, F11/1/2012 10:23:00 AM
Description: Utah forward Paul Millsap blew up for 13 points and 15 boards Wednesday in a win over Dallas.
Insight: Millsap is about as consistent as they come and certainly one of the more underrated names in fantasy hoops. He'll look to build off this strong outing Friday when the Jazz travel to New Orleans.
Mo Williams, PG10/27/2012 10:07:00 PM
Description: Utah guard Mo Williams has returned to practice.
Insight: Williams has dealt with various groin and abdominal ailments throughout the preseason but it looks like he should be fine for Wednesday's regular season opener against Dallas.
Gordon Hayward, SF10/15/2012 3:12:00 PM
Description: Gordon Hayward has started three games at shooting guard this preseason and is averaging 9.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 1.0 apg in just 19 minutes.
Insight: Hayward started 58 of 66 games last season averaging 11.8 ppg, but will have to fight off Randy Foye and Alex Burks for playing time. At 6-foot-9 Hayward can also play at the SF position, but his best spot would seem to be at guard.
Randy Foye, G7/24/2012 8:07:00 PM
Description: Free agent shooting guard Randy Foye has signed a contract with the Utah Jazz.
Insight: Foye started at shooting guard for the Los Angeles Clippers the majority of the season after Chauncey Billups went down. He averaged 11.0 points and 2.0 threes per game, numbers he has a good shot at duplicating as part of Utah's guard rotation with ex-Clippers teammate Mo Williams and returning Jazz players Gordon Hayward and Alec Burks.
Alec Burks, G7/10/2012 10:44:00 PM
Description: Utah Jazz second-year guard Alec Burks scored 31 points on 10 of 14 shooting in Utah's second summer league game Tuesday.
Insight: Burks figures to be a heavy part of the Jazz' guard rotation with Mo Williams and Gordon Hayward, as Devin Harris has been dealt to Atlanta for small forward Marvin Williams.
Mo Williams, PG6/29/2012 9:14:00 PM
Description: The Los Angeles Clippers have dealt guard Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz as part of a four-team deal also involving the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks. The Clippers landed forward Lamar Odom in the trade.
Insight: Williams was drafted by Utah but only spent one season there. The guard averaged 13.2 ppg in 52 games for the Clippers in 2011-12. He should have a larger role on the Jazz, as starting PG Devin Harris is no Chris Paul.
