Description: Houston forward Carlos Delfino (foot) left Oklahoma City in a walking boot with a sore left foot Wednesday night. Rockets coach Kevin McHale said Thursday that Delfino is dealing with bone spurs and was scheduled to undergo X-rays. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Delfino has been dealing with a sore foot for a few weeks. He had to sit out the entire second half of Game 5 and has to be considered a game-time decision for Game 6. Francisco Garcia is averaging 15 points and 36 minutes over his last three games.
Jeremy Lin, G5/3/2013 11:41:00 AM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin (chest) will play off the bench Friday in Game 6 against the Thunder. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Patrick Beverly has performed well with Lin out for two games, averaging 15 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 2.0 3pt in that time. More importantly, he has turned it over just once in the last three games.
James Harden, G5/2/2013 5:51:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden has strep throat, but he'll be available Friday for Game 6 against the Thunder. SOURCE: Royce Young, CBSSports.com
Insight: Harden made seven threes and scored 31 points Wednesday despite dealing with what initially was believed to be flu-like symptoms. He's averaging 26.4 ppg in the Rockets' first-round series against Oklahoma City.
Omer Asik, C5/2/2013 9:50:00 AM
Description: Rockets center Omer Asik generated his highest point total of the series Wednesday in Game 5 (21 points on 4-of-6 shooting).
Insight: Oklahoma City's use of the Hack-a-Shaq method backfired. Normally just a 56 percent free throw shooter, Asik converted on 13 of his 18 attempts in Game 5 for a 72 percent success rate. He also did a nice job controlling the glass with a team-high 11 rebounds. If Asik can stay out of foul trouble, he should have another strong outing in Game 6.
James Harden, G5/2/2013 9:45:00 AM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden was spectacular Wednesday in a Game 5 win over OKC.
Insight: Houston's bearded superstar shrugged off flu-like symptoms to lead the Rockets in scoring (31 points on 10-of-16 shooting). Harden was incredibly turnover-prone in Game 4 (10 turnovers) but in Game 5 he took much better care of the basketball (three turnovers in 42 minutes). Harden (7-of-9 from three-point range on Wednesday) and the Rockets will have a chance to tie the series at three games a piece Friday night in Houston.
James Harden, G5/1/2013 9:26:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden will play in Wednesday's Game 5 against the Thunder despite missing shootaround because of flu-like symptoms.
Insight: Harden had a terrible game on Monday (10 turnovers) and he really hasn't played well all series (just 28-for-77 from the field). If the Rockets hope to advance, he'll need to turn things around in a hurry.
Jeremy Lin, G5/1/2013 8:55:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin will miss his second straight game with a bruised chest. SOURCE: Mark Berman, Fox Houston

James Harden, G5/1/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden didn't participate in the Wednesday morning shootaround (illness), but is expected to play in the must-win Game 5.
Insight: Without Harden (25.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 4.3 apg, 2.3 spg in the playoffs) the Rockets can get ready for a May filled with tee times. Even with him they face an uphill battle to stay in the series with the Thunder.
Patrick Beverley, G5/1/2013 10:25:00 AM
Description: Rockets reserve guard Patrick Beverley has been playing a much larger role in the Rockets offense with Jeremy Lin sidelined by a chest injury.
Insight: Beverly (5.6 ppg in the regular season) has been playing the Lin role and doing a solid imitation averaging 12.3 ppg in the series.
Jeremy Lin, G5/1/2013 10:21:00 AM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin (chest) missed Game 4 against the Thunder on Monday night and is questionable for Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals Wednesday.
Insight: Lin, who averaged 13.4 ppg during the regular season is averaging just 4.3 ppg in the playoffs. Patrick Beverly (5.6 ppg in the regular season) has been playing the Lin role and doing a solid imitation averaging 12.3 ppg in the series.

Insight: Lin suffered a chest injury in Game 2 and missed the second half of that game before being limited to just 18 minutes in Game 3. James Harden will be asked to do it all Monday, with Patrick Beverly and Francisco Garcia also figuring into the backcourt mix.
Jeremy Lin, G4/29/2013 2:50:00 PM
Description: Jeremy Lin did not participate in the morning shootaround, but will be a game-time decision for Monday night's game with the Thunder, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com.
Insight: Lin suffered a chest injury in Game 2 and had to sit out the second half. Patrick Beverley should see a heavy workload if Lin can't suit up.
Jeremy Lin, G4/27/2013 9:19:00 PM
Description: Jeremy Lin will be available for the Rockets Saturday night against the Thunder. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle

Jeremy Lin, G4/27/2013 10:57:00 AM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin's chest X-rays came back negative, but he is questionable for Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals Saturday against Oklahoma City.
Insight: Lin only played 20 minutes during Game 2 of Houston's playoff series against the Thunder. He thinks he'll play Saturday in Game 3, but it's a game-time decision. He's only totaled 5.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.5 apg in the first two games of the series.
Jeremy Lin, G4/24/2013 10:57:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin's chest X-rays came back negative, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Lin only played 20 minutes during Game 2 of Houston's playoff series against the Thunder on Wednesday night. He thinks he'll play Saturday in Game 3.
Patrick Beverley, G4/24/2013 10:10:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley played a much larger role than anticipated Wednesday night in OKC.
Insight: With Jeremy Lin struggling with a chest injury, Beverley played essentially the entire second half for Houston. In 41 minutes of court time, he ended up with 14 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to go along with two steals and one block. Beverley would probably be expected to log similar minutes if Lin is still hurt for Game 3, which is scheduled for Saturday night in Houston.
James Harden, G4/24/2013 10:06:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden had another off shooting night but he still managed to produce a game-high 36 points Wednesday in a three-point loss to Oklahoma City.
Insight: Harden went just 9-of-24 from the field but he was active on the boards (11 rebounds) and as usual, he made his living from the free throw line (17-for-20). He's averaging 28 ppg for the series.
Jeremy Lin, G4/24/2013 8:43:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin left the game with a bruised chest and it's unknown if he'll be able to return to action Wednesday night in Oklahoma City. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Patrick Beverley, who moved into the starting lineup for Game 2, will handle the point guard duties with Lin on the sidelines. Lin had seven points on 3-of-7 shooting before the injury occurred.
Patrick Beverley, G4/24/2013 7:51:00 PM
Description: In a surprise move, Rockets coach Kevin McHale opted to start Patrick Beverley instead of Greg Smith Wednesday night against the Thunder.
Insight: They're going guard-heavy and the hope is that Houston will be able to beat Oklahoma City down the floor on most possessions. The 6-foot-1 Beverley posted 11 points Sunday in the series opener.
James Harden, G4/18/2013 9:38:00 AM
Description: Houston guard James Harden had a brutal shooting night Wednesday in Los Angeles (8-for-25 from the field), but he still managed to lead his team in scoring with 30 points.
Insight: Harden (25.9 ppg, 5.8 apg, 4.9 rpg) also took a scary fall during the overtime period but he never came out of the game. Harden shot nearly 45 percent from the field in the first half but he hasn't been nearly as on target since the All-Star break (41.4 field goal percentage).
Chandler Parsons, F4/18/2013 9:36:00 AM
Description: Houston small forward Chandler Parsons did everything he could to fend off the Lakers Wednesday night at Staples Center. His line-drive three-pointer at the buzzer sent the game into overtime.
Insight: Overall he finished with 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting. With James Harden struggling with his shot recently, Parsons will need to have a big series if the Rockets are to have any hope of upsetting the top-seeded Thunder in the first round.
Terrence Jones, F4/14/2013 10:34:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Terrence Jones had nine points, three rebounds, three steals and five blocks in 20 minutes Sunday against the Kings.
Insight: Jones spent most of the season in the D-League after being selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, but he is averaging 10.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.8 blocks in the five games since April 3 in which he has played at least 20 minutes.
Chandler Parsons, F4/14/2013 6:07:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons (calf strain) will return to action Sunday after missing four straight games with a strained right calf. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Parsons returned to practice Thursday but he missed Friday's game. Parsons averages 36 mpg but we wouldn't be surprised if he played less than that on Sunday.
Chandler Parsons, F4/12/2013 6:38:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons (calf strain) will miss Friday's game against the Grizzlies, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com.
Insight: Parsons returned to practice Thursday but he's not ready yet. This will be his fourth straight absence.
Chandler Parsons, F4/11/2013 5:34:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons (calf) returned to pratice Thursday. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Parsons could return to action Friday, but it's not guaranteed. Parsons has missed three straight games with a sore right calf.
Carlos Delfino, F4/11/2013 5:32:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino (flu) returned to practice Thursday, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com.
Insight: Delfino missed four straight games with the flu but he should be able to play Friday night.
Francisco Garcia, F4/9/2013 10:39:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Francisco Garcia is averaging 11.7 points and 3.0 threes over his last six games. He had 15 points in 36 minutes Tuesday night against the Suns.
Insight: Chandler Parsons and Carlos Delfino have been out of the lineup recently, giving Garcia solid playing time at the three.
Carlos Delfino, F4/9/2013 6:58:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino will miss Tuesday's game with an illness, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com.
Insight: This will be Delfino's fourth straight missed game. Several players have been splitting his minutes.
Chandler Parsons, F4/9/2013 11:50:00 AM
Description: Jason Friedman from Rockets.com is reporting that Chandler Parsons will miss Tuesday's game versus Phoenix. Parsons has already missed the last two games because of a strained calf.
Insight: With Carlos Delfino also likely to be sidelined or at least not at full strength, Francisco Garcia should see close to 30 minures of court time. Garcia is averaging 11.5 ppg over the last two games.
Chandler Parsons, F4/8/2013 8:03:00 PM
Description: Jason Friedman from Rockets.com is reporting that Chandler Parsons is questionable for Tuesday's game versus Phoenix. Parsons has sat out the last two games because of a strained calf.
Insight: He missed practice on Monday, which isn't an encouraging sign. Parsons has actually struggled against the Suns this season (12.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 37 percent from the field) so fantasy owners might consider leaving him on the bench even if he's active.
Jeremy Lin, GHot4/7/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin is averaging 19.8 points, 9.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.3 threes in April.
Insight: It has been an up-and-down season for Lin but a strong finish would be much appreciated.
Carlos Delfino, F4/6/2013 8:06:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino will miss Saturday's game due to an illness.
Insight: Delfino missed Friday's game as well. Francisco Garcia will make another start with Chandler Parsons sidelined, and the Rockets will mix-and-match to replace Delfino off the bench.
Carlos Delfino, F4/6/2013 7:27:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino will be a game-time decision due to an illness.
Insight: Delfino missed Friday's game as well. Francisco Garcia will make another start with Chandler Parsons sidelined, and the Rockets will mix-and-match to replace Delfino off the bench if he can't play.
Chandler Parsons, F4/6/2013 12:09:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons was on the sidelines Friday against Portland and is doubtful for Saturday's game against Denver while dealing with a strained right calf.
Insight: Parsons has been a nice fantasy option this season as the No. 3 option for the Rockets (15.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.5 apg) and will be missed by owners.
Carlos Delfino, F4/5/2013 8:40:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino won't be on the floor Friday against Portland.
Insight: Delfino was considered questionable heading into this game because of a foot injury. Turns out it's an illness that's keeping him sidelined. Francisco Garcia will have to play a bigger role in Delfino's absence.
Chandler Parsons, F4/5/2013 8:14:00 PM
Description: A calf injury will keep Houston forward Chandler Parsons on the sidelines Friday against Portland.
Insight: Parsons missed a game earlier in the week but that was because of an illness. Consider him questionable for Saturday's tilt in Denver.
Carlos Delfino, F4/5/2013 11:59:00 AM
Description: Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino (sore foot) is questionable for Friday's game against Portland although he practiced Thursday.
Insight: The three-point specialist has some fantasy usefulness while averaging 10.7 ppg and 2.3 threes per contest.
Carlos Delfino, F4/4/2013 6:07:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino (sore foot) was a late scratch Wednesday night but he practiced Thursday.
Insight: Delfino was expected to play after participating in shootaround Wednesday morning but he was scratched before game time. The 3-point specialist is questionable for Friday's game against Portland.
Chandler Parsons, F4/4/2013 9:36:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons played well in his return from an illness Wednesday against the Kings.
Insight: Parsons posted 29 points in 40 minutes of action. He was 12-of-18 from the field including a terrific 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. After an up and down rookie year, Parsons has emerged as a legitimate fantasy option in his second season, averaging 15.3 ppg in 73 starts in 2012-13.
Carlos Delfino, F4/3/2013 5:02:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino (sore foot) missed practice Tuesday for precautionary reasons but participated in shootaround and is expected to play Wednesday against the Kings, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Delfino has accumulated 66.2 percent of his points this season from behind the arc. He has made 2.3 threes per game.
Chandler Parsons, F4/3/2013 2:19:00 PM
Description: Houston small forward Chandler Parsons didn't play Monday against the Magic (food poisoning), but is expected to suit up on Wednesday.
Insight: He's averaging career-highs in just about every offensive category this season (15.1 ppg, 47.7 field goal percentage, 38.1 percent from three-point range, 72 percent on free throws).
James Harden, G4/3/2013 2:15:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden (foot) returned to practice Tuesday after missing two straight games and is probable for Wednesday's game against Sacramento after he said the foot "felt good."
Insight: Harden has been one of the best all-around players this season, averaging 26.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 5.8 apg, 1.9 spg and 2.3 threes per contest. If he's on the floor, he must be started.
James Harden, G4/2/2013 4:31:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden (foot) returned to practice Tuesday after missing two straight games.
Insight: Harden said he sore foot felt "real good" Tuesday, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com. He should be able to play Wednesday.
Omer Asik, C4/1/2013 10:33:00 PM
Description: Houston center Omer Asik went berserk Monday in a win over the Magic (22 points, 18 rebounds).
Insight: Putting up huge rebounding numbers is nothing new for Asik but it's rare to see him score this many points. Unfortunately, that trend probably won't continue once James Harden (foot) returns to the lineup.
Chandler Parsons, F4/1/2013 7:47:00 PM
Description: Houston small forward Chandler Parsons won't play Monday against the Magic. He's out with food poisoning.
Insight: Parsons should be okay to play Wednesday in Sacramento. He's averaging career-highs in just about every offensive category this season (15.1 ppg, 47.7 field goal percentage, 38.1 percent from three-point range, 72 percent on free throws).
James Harden, G4/1/2013 7:42:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden will take a seat Monday against Orlando. He's still struggling with soreness in his right foot.
Insight: He missed Saturday's tilt against Los Angeles for the same reason. Expect the trio of James Anderson, Carlos Delfino and Francisco Garcia to pick up most of the slack in Harden's absence.
James Harden, G4/1/2013 11:13:00 AM
Description: Houston guard James Harden is doutbful for Monday's game against Orlando with a sore right foot. He missed the morning shootaround.
Insight: Harden is dealing with a nagging foot injury and didn't play on Saturday. He's been playing through it for the most part but this would be a second consecutive game on the sidelines. He's been a top-five fantasy player all season and this would be a huge blow to his owners.
James Harden, G3/30/2013 7:23:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden is taking the night off Saturday against Los Angeles.
Insight: Harden is dealing with a nagging foot injury. He's been playing through it for the most part so we're considering Saturday just a maintenance day for the franchise guard. Carlos Delfino (10.6 ppg) will probably get the start in Harden's place.
Omer Asik, C3/29/2013 5:40:00 PM
Description: Rockets center Omer Asik (illness) missed shootaround Friday but he is expected to play.
Insight: According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Asik is dealing with a "head cold," which shouldn't be enough to keep him out of Friday's game. We'll let you know if anything changes.
Donatas Motiejunas, F3/28/2013 9:40:00 AM
Description: After a three-game run of fantasy usefulness from Feb. 23 to March 1, Rockets forward Donatas Motiejunas is averaging just 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 20 minutes over his last 11 games.
Insight: Motiejunas has started 13 games at power forward but shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters. Thomas Robinson has two double-digit scoring games over the last three but sandwiched between those two is a zero-point, 11-minute effort. And Greg Smith had 18 points and 19 rebounds Wednesday night, but he's averaging 6.0 ppg and 6.1 rpg in 16.5 mpg this month. It doesn't look like fantasy owners can trust any Rockets power forward.
James Harden, G3/28/2013 9:36:00 AM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden has gone ice cold the last five games with 28 field goals on 79 attempts (.354). He's still averaging 24.2 ppg due to his free-throw shooting (52-of-59, .881).
Insight: Harden will have shooting slumps like this once a month before getting back to his usual top-notch production. Fortunately, when his shot isn't falling he can still count on free throws to get his points. You should never even consider removing him from the lineup.
Francisco Garcia, F3/27/2013 11:52:00 AM
Description: Houston SG/SF Francisco Garcia missed Sunday's game and is questionable for Wednesday's game against Indiana due to illness.
Insight: Stuck behind fantasy stud James Harden and talented SF Chandler Parsons, Garcia is getting around 13 minutes which isn't enough to be fantasy-worthy.
James Harden, GHot3/24/2013 10:03:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden knocked in the game-winning shot Sunday against San Antonio.
Insight: Harden finished with 29 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks. As usual, he drew a ton of fouls (15-for-17 from the free throw line). Harden can be a bit turnover-prone from time to time but Sunday he only turned the ball over once in 40 minutes. He's now scored at least 20 points in each of his last five games, averaging 27.2 ppg over that span.
Jeremy Lin, GHot3/20/2013 10:57:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin continued his recent scoring surge by knocking in 24 points Wednesday in a win over the Jazz.
Insight: Could this be the beginning of Linsanity Part II? The 24-year-old is averaging a remarkable 23 ppg over his last three contests. He'll have a chance to extend the hot streak Friday night against Cleveland.
James Harden, G3/20/2013 10:51:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden finished with 29 points Wednesday in a win over Utah.
Insight: Like always, Harden made his living at the free throw line, knocking down his first 17 before missing his final attempt of the night. He's shooting 85.9 percent from that distance this season.
Jeremy Lin, G3/17/2013 9:26:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin had his second straight 20-point game Sunday with 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
Insight: Lin has made 17-of-31 (.548) from the field with six threes over his last two games.
Jeremy Lin, G3/15/2013 10:36:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin had 24 points, eight assists, four steals and three 3-pointers Friday against Minnesota.
Insight: Lin has scored in double figures in all seven games this month.
James Harden, G3/15/2013 10:35:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden had 37 points on just 16 field-goal attempts Friday against Minnesota. He made 8-of-16 from the field, 5-of-10 from 3-point range and 16-of-18 from the foul line and added eight assists and seven rebounds.
Insight: Harden is playing through foot soreness but it doesn't look like it's really going to hinder him at all.
James Harden, G3/15/2013 7:27:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden (foot) will play Friday versus Minnesota.
Insight: Harden is dealing with foot soreness and hasn't been his usual aggressive self lately but he is still averaging 24.8 points and 7.8 assists in March. Keep him in your lineup.
Omer Asik, C3/15/2013 5:23:00 PM
Description: Rockets center Omer Asik (groin) practiced Thursday and is expected to play Friday against the Wolves.
Insight: Asik played 26 minutes Wednesday after suffering the minor strain during Tuesday's practice so he should be fine.
James Harden, G3/15/2013 1:33:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden (foot) practiced Thursday, but will be a game-time decision for friday's contest with Minnesota.
Insight: It's unusual to practice and not play so put him in your lineup as you normally would unless you hear from us that he's sidelined.
Thomas Robinson, PF3/13/2013 10:39:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Thomas Robinson had 12 points, seven rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes of play off the bench Wednesday against Phoenix.
Insight: Robinson hasn't received the minutes boost that we expected after being traded to Houston. Donatas Motiejunas has moved into the starting lineup instead while Robinson gets inconsistent playing time on the bench.
Donatas Motiejunas, F3/13/2013 10:37:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Donatas Motiejunas latest useful game was a 19-point effort Wednesday against Phoenix. Motiejunas added five rebounds and a block in 28 minutes of play.
Insight: Motiejunas has started seven straight games but hadn't scored more than nine points in any of his last four after producing an average of 13.7 in his first three starts.
Omer Asik, C3/12/2013 3:57:00 PM
Description: Rockets center Omer Asik suffered a mild groin strain Tuesday in practice, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com. There's no update on his availability for Wednesday's game.
Insight: Asik has made just 31.8 percent of his free throws in March and is only averaging 8.2 ppg as a result, his lowest for any month this season.
James Harden, G3/12/2013 3:55:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden (foot) practiced Tuesday and is expected to play Wednesday, according to Jason Friedman of Rockets.com.
Insight: Harden got a day off Monday to rest his sore right foot but doesn't expect to miss any time. Play him as you normally would.
Thomas Robinson, PF3/10/2013 9:23:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Thomas Robinson has not received the minutes boost we expected since joining Houston. He's only playing 14 mpg in six games, down from 16 with Sacramento.
Insight: We expected Robinson to take over the starting PF spot after Patrick Patterson was traded for him. However, Donatas Motiejunas has taken over that role. The Rockets likely still have plans to get Robinson involved in the rotation but until that happens he's useless to fantasy owners.
Carlos Delfino, F3/10/2013 9:18:00 AM
Description: Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino had 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting with five threes in 28.5 minutes off the bench Saturday against Phoenix.
Insight: Delfino ranks fifth in the NBA with 2.5 3-pointers per game and he has averaged 3.2 threes and 30 minutes in nine games since Marcus Morris and Patrick Patterson were traded. Delfino has been the biggest beneficiary of those trades so far.
James Harden, G3/7/2013 9:55:00 AM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden registered 28 points on 5-of-17 shooting Wednesday at Dallas.
Insight: Harden, who also handed out nine assists, was a perfect 16-of-16 from the charity stripe. He's averaging 10 free throw attempts per game this season, most in the NBA.
Thomas Robinson, PF3/3/2013 9:46:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Thomas Robinson made 3-of-4 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line in 18 minutes of play for 10 points Sunday against the Mavericks. He added eight rebounds and three steals.
Insight: Robinson only played 10.5 ppg and attempted two field goals in his first two games with the Rockets but he received more minutes Sunday with the team up big on Dallas. We eventually expect Robinson to replace Donatas Motiejunas in the starting lineup, but until that happens he won't put up many fantasy worthy lines.
Chandler Parsons, FHot3/3/2013 9:38:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons was nearly perfect Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. He made 12-of-13 from the field, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range, and 2-of-2 from the foul line for 32 points.
Insight: Parsons could have had even more but a huge lead allowed Houston to rest its stars in the fourth quarter. The Rockets forward has scored more than 20 points in four straight games while making 39-of-60 (.650) from the field during the streak.
Carlos Delfino, F3/1/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino was one of three Houston players along with James Harden and Chandler Parsons to score 20-plus points Friday against the Magic.
Insight: Delfino made five threes as part of a 21-point game. He has been one of the top 3-point shooters in the NBA this season with 124 makes in 49 games. Delfino has seen a boost in minutes since Houston's deadline deals sent several rotation players out of town.
Donatas Motiejunas, F3/1/2013 9:48:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Donatas Motiejunas had his third straight double-digit scoring game with a career-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting (2-5 3PT).
Insight: Motiejunas has stepped into the starting five following the trades of Patrick Patterson and Marcus Morris while the team eases new acquisition Thomas Robinson into action. He's averaging 13.7 ppg over the last three games.
Chandler Parsons, F3/1/2013 9:46:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons had his third straight 20-point game Friday against the Magic with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting (3-7 3PT).
Insight: Parsons has been a worthy sidekick to James Harden all season. He helps fantasy owners in six categories.
Donatas Motiejunas, F3/1/2013 6:56:00 PM
Description: Donatas Motiejunas will start at power forward again for the Houston Rockets on Friday.
Insight: Motiejunas has stepped into the starting five following the trades of Patrick Patterson and Marcus Morris. He's averaging 12 points and 6.5 rebounds over the last two games. He could be a nice short-term add while the team gets new acquisition Thomas Robinson up to speed.
Jeremy Lin, G3/1/2013 2:06:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin (ankle) will be a game-time decision Friday against the Magic, but is expected to play after making through the morning shootaround.
Insight: Lin has been dealing with ankle issues on and off all season which may explain his disappointing numbers. James Harden is also a game-time call but it sounds like both players will be able to go.
James Harden, G3/1/2013 2:00:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden (knee) didn't practice Thursday, but made it through the Friday morning shootaround and is expected to play against Orlando Friday night.
Insight: Harden banged knees with Monta Ellis during Wednesday's game but still played 38 minutes. He's been a fantasy stud from the moment he put on the Rockets uniform (26.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.1 threes).
Jeremy Lin, G2/28/2013 2:44:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin (ankle) will be a game-time decision Friday against the Magic, but he says he'll be fine. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Lin has been dealing with ankle issues on and off all season. James Harden is also a game-time call but it sounds like both players will be able to go. If they don't Francisco Garcia and Carlos Delfino will play shooting guard and Patrick Beverley would step in at point guard.
James Harden, G2/28/2013 2:38:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden (knee) didn't practice Thursday and will be a game-time decision Friday against the Magic. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Harden banged knees with Monta Ellis during Wednesday's game but still played 38 minutes.
Thomas Robinson, PF2/28/2013 11:27:00 AM
Description: Forward Thomas Robinson only played eight minutes and scored two points in his Rockets debut Wednesday night. He has been working daily with coach Kevin McHale and assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff on low-post drills, accoridng to the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: McHale is a Hall of Fame big man so Robinson is in good hands. Donatas Montiejunas has started and played 24.5 minutes over the last two games but Robinson is a more highly regarded prospect and should eventually take over starting duties. Fantasy owners should exercise patience if they can.
Omer Asik, C2/27/2013 10:42:00 PM
Description: Omer Asik had a monster game Wednesday against the Bucks. In 31 minutes, the Rockets center racked up 16 points while collecting 22 rebounds.
Insight: The 22 boards is a new season-high for Asik. Wednesday was the 17th time this season Asik has pulled down 15 or more rebounds in a game.
Francisco Garcia, FCold2/27/2013 7:50:00 PM
Description: Swingman Francisco Garcia will make his Rockets debut Wednesday against Milwaukee.
Insight: Garcia came over in the Thomas Robinson trade last Wednesday. He's been brutal this month, averaging just 3.1 ppg on 26.7 percent shooting. The move to Houston, where he'll be behind James Harden on the depth chart, won't do anything to help his fantasy value.
Thomas Robinson, PF2/26/2013 4:41:00 PM
Description: Thomas Robinson will make his Rockets debut on Wednesday, coach Kevin McHale said. SOURCE: David Barron, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Houston sent power forwards Patrick Patterson and Marcus Morris packing, leaving Robinson as the best option to fill the void. He's worth a look in fantasy leagues, as 25 mpg is a possibility immediately, even with Donatas Montiejunas named as the starter for Wednesday.
Greg Smith, C2/26/2013 11:20:00 AM
Description: Rockets backup center Greg Smith is probable for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee while dealing with a bruised right knee.
Insight: Smith isn't fantasy worthy, averaging 5.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg, but his absence would add more minutes to Omer Asik who has been very productive this season averaging 10.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg.
Chandler Parsons, F2/22/2013 6:57:00 PM
Description: Houston small forward Chandler Parsons will start Friday night's game against the Nets.
Insight: Parsons (14.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg) sprained his ankle Wednesday against the Thunder but he was able to return to the game. We'd expect him to post his usual numbers Friday against Brooklyn.
Jeremy Lin, G2/20/2013 10:45:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin shook off a hand injury to score 29 points Wednesday in a win over Oklahoma City.
Insight: An excellent start to the second half for the artist formerly known as "Linsanity." The talented 24-year-old will look to keep the momentum going Friday night when the Rockets travel to Brooklyn.
James Harden, G2/20/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: James Harden went bonkers against his old team on Wednesday night. The Houston shooting guard dominated the Thunder for a season-high 46 points on 14-of-19 shooting.
Insight: Harden (26.5 ppg) drilled 11 of his 12 free throw attempts while knocking down a season-high seven three-pointers. It's his second 40-point game of the season.
Francisco Garcia, F2/20/2013 8:41:00 PM
Description: Guard Francisco Garcia will be heading to Houston along with Thomas Robinson and Tyler Honeycutt for Patrick Patterson, Toney Douglas and Cole Aldrich.
Insight: Garcia has been lost in Sacramento's sea of guards this season and is only averaging 17 mpg. However, there won't be many minutes available at shooting guard or small forward with James Harden, Chandler Parsons and Carlos Delfino occupying those roles.
Thomas Robinson, PF2/20/2013 8:11:00 PM
Description: The Kings have traded power forward Thomas Robinson to the Rockets for Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich and Toney Douglas. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports
Insight: With Marcus Morris also having been traded in a separate deal, Robinson has immediate fantasy value as the presumed starting power forward for the high-flying Rockets.
Marcus Morris, F2/20/2013 7:35:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Marcus Morris won't be available for Wednesday night's game against the Thunder according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: No reason has been given for the absence, which has led some to speculate that Morris (8.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg) could be involved in a trade. We'll let you know when we hear more about Morris' sudden disappearance.
James Harden, G2/20/2013 2:26:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden (ankle) played in the All-Star game Sunday night on his home court in Houston, so he should certainly be expected to play in Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City.
Insight: Harden sprained his ankle and missed the Rockets' final game before the All-Star break, but after playing in the midseason classic he said his ankle was "real good." He's been one of this season's biggest stories averaging 26.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.0 threes.
Toney Douglas, G2/20/2013 2:23:00 PM
Description: Rockets backup PG Toney Douglas is questionable for Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City with a hip pointer. He has missed the last three games and will be a game-time decision.
Insight: Douglas doesn't give fantasy owners much (8.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.9 apg) nor does his backup - Patrick Beverly.
Jeremy Lin, G2/19/2013 1:38:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin has a sore right hand but is probable for Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City
Insight: X-rays taken before the All-Star break were negative. Lin is averaging 12.6 points, 6.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals. Hopefully the break will do him some good.
James Harden, G2/19/2013 1:36:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden (ankle) played in the All-Star game Sunday night on his home court in Houston, so he should certainly be expected to play in Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City.
Insight: Harden sprained his ankle and missed the Rockets' final game before the All-Star break. He's been one of this season's biggest stories averaging 26.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.0 threes.
Jeremy Lin, G2/18/2013 10:49:00 AM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin has a sore right hand and is questionable for Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City
Insight: X-rays taken before the All-Star break were negative. Lin is averaging 12.6 points, 6.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals. Hopefully the break will do him some good.
James Harden, G2/18/2013 10:44:00 AM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden (ankle) played in the All-Star game Sunday night on his home court in Houston, so he should certainly be expected to play in Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City despite a questionable tag.
Insight: Harden sprained his ankle and missed the Rockets' final game before the All-Star break. He's been one of this season's biggest stories averaging 26.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.0 threes.
James Harden, G2/17/2013 6:48:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden (ankle) will play in the All-Star game Sunday night on his home court in Houston.
Insight: Harden sprained his ankle and missed the Rockets' final game before the All-Star break. Harden being active Sunday should tell fantasy owners that he'll be ready to play Wednesday.
James Harden, G2/14/2013 1:09:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden is uncertain for Sunday's All-Star game with a sprained ankle. SOURCE: Mark Berman, KRIV
Insight: Harden said the swelling has reduced and he can walk with no issues but doesn't know if he'll play Sunday. One thing that might compel him to suit up is that the game is being played in front of the home fans in Houston, but he says that he doesn't want to jeopardize playing for the Rockets after the All-Star break. Harden is also captaining a 3-player team in the Shooting Stars event on Saturday, but we can't see him playing in that with an ankle injury.
Jeremy Lin, G2/14/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: The X-rays on Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin's sore right hand came back negative. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Lin is averaging 15.2 points, 6.9 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.4 threes with .479/.469/.816 shooting percentages over his last 11 games. We'll revisit this situation after the All-Star break if Lin's hand is still sore.
James Harden, G2/13/2013 10:09:00 PM
Description: Updating an earlier report, Houston shooting guard James Harden (ankle) won't play Wednesday. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Harden initially felt good during warmups but he felt soreness after warming up in his injured right ankle.
James Harden, G2/13/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Houston shooting guard James Harden felt good in warmups and will be in the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Clippers. Harden injured his ankle Tuesday night against Golden State.
Insight: This is a complete 180 from what we were hearing earlier in the day. Expect The Beard to post his usual numbers (26.1 ppg, 5.7 apg) tonight in L.A.
James Harden, GHot2/13/2013 11:39:00 AM
Description: Houston Rockets star shooting guard James Harden is expected to miss Wednesday's game against the LA Clippers after suffering an ankle injury late in Tuesday's game. He was already questionable heading into the game with a sore knee.
Insight: Harden is putting up huge numbers in his first season as the focal point of the Houston offense - 26.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.0 three per contest. If he can't go, the Rockets would likely give Carlos Delfino the start, though he couldn't possibly fill Harden's shoes.
James Harden, GHot2/12/2013 2:25:00 PM
Description: Rockets star shooting guard James Harden is questionable for Tuesday's game against Golden State with a sore left knee. He missed Monday's practice.
Insight: Harden is putting up huge numbers in his first season as the focal point of the Houston offense - 26.1 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.8 spg, 2.0 three per contest. If he can't go, the Rockets would likely give Carlos Delfino the start, though he couldn't possibly fill Harden's shoes.
Patrick Beverley, G2/11/2013 11:45:00 AM
Description: Houston guard Patrick Beverley posted a very impressive six points, five rebounds and eight assists in 19 minutes on Sunday against Sacramento in a backup role for Jeremy Lin.
Insight: Beverly actually started the second half and could end up jumping over Toney Douglas on the depth chart as the primary backup to Lin.
Toney Douglas, G2/11/2013 11:42:00 AM
Description: Rockets guard Toney Douglas is questionable for Tuesday's game Golden State with a hip pointer.
Insight: Jeremy Lin (12.5 ppg, 6.1 apg) didn't see extra minutes with Douglas sidelined on Sunday, they went to Patrick Beverley who posted a very impressive six points, five rebounds and eight assists in 19 minutes.
Toney Douglas, G2/10/2013 12:06:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard Toney Douglas is doubtful for Sunday's game against Sacramento with a hip pointer.
Insight: Jeremy Lin (12.5 ppg, 6.1 apg) will be forced to play some extra minutes if Douglas (8.1 ppg) is sidelined.
Royce White, F2/9/2013 3:21:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Royce White has passed his physical and will report to the team's D-League affiliate on Monday. SOURCE: Houston Chronicle
Insight: White is one step closer to making his NBA debut. He has spent the entire season embroiled in a dispute with the Rockets over the handling of his mental illness but came to an agreement with the team late last month.
James Harden, GHot2/8/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden steamrolled the Blazers for 35 points Friday night in Houston.
Insight: Harden is averaging 35.5 ppg on 23-of-32 shooting (71.9 percent) over his last two outings. He's gone 8-of-12 from three-point distance over that span. Is there anything this guy can't do?
Toney Douglas, G2/8/2013 9:07:00 PM
Description: A hip pointer has forced Rockets guard Toney Douglas from Friday night's game against the Trail Blazers.
Insight: It doesn't look like he'll be returning. Jeremy Lin (12.5 ppg, 6.1 apg) will be forced to play some extra minutes if Douglas (8.3 ppg) is indeed done for the night.
Carlos Delfino, F2/8/2013 12:02:00 PM
Description: Houston Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino is questionable for Friday's game against Portland after participating in the Friday morning shootaround.
Insight: Delfino is averaging 10.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.2 apg and a stunning 2.5 threes per night. If he returns, rookie Chandler Parsons could lose minutes.
Patrick Patterson, F2/6/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Rockets power forward Patrick Patterson scored 15 points with three rebounds in 35 minutes Wednesday versus Miami.
Insight: Patterson is producing an average of 14 points and 5.6 rebounds in 28 minutes over his last seven games. Meanwhile, Marcus Morris has played more than 20 minutes just once in his last eight contests. Morris' presence limits the value of both players but it appears that Patterson at least has moved ahead of Morris in the PF timeshare.
James Harden, G2/6/2013 10:08:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden poured in a game-high 36 points Wednesday against the Heat. He also collected a season-best 12 rebounds in 40 minutes of action.
Insight: Harden (25.8 ppg, fifth in the NBA) continues to draw fouls like nobody's business (12-of-13 from the line Wednesday) while drilling tons of three-pointers (8-of-13 from long range in his last two games). Wednesday was Harden's third double-digit rebounding game of the season.
Jeremy Lin, G2/5/2013 10:45:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin's rolled ankle didn't hold him back at all Tuesday against Golden State. Lin scored 28 points with nine assists, one steal and five triples.
Insight: Lin still struggles with inconsistency but he has been much better since mid-December. Prior to Tuesday, Lin was averaging 13.3 points, 6.3 assists and 2.2 steals in his last 26 games. He produced just 10.8 points in his first 23 games.
Carlos Delfino, F2/5/2013 6:47:00 PM
Description: Houston Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino will miss the next two games with loose cartilage in his right elbow. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Delfino's main fantasy contribution is the 3-ball. He made an average of 3.1 threes in 18 games from Dec. 26 to Jan. 28. Chandler Parsons should see 40-plus minutes Tuesday and Wednesday.
Carlos Delfino, F2/5/2013 10:15:00 AM
Description: Houston Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino left Saturday's game against Charlotte because of a strained elbow and is questionable for Tuesday's game against Golden State.
Insight: Delfino (10.5 ppg) is a borderline fantasy player who provides scoring, but little else. But his absence from the lineup would make starter Chandler Parsons (14.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.6 apg) an even better value.
Jeremy Lin, G2/4/2013 3:49:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin is questionable for Tuesday's game against Golden State after turning an ankle in Monday's practice.
Insight: Lin posted 12.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 5.5 apg in 17 January games. We don't hear the term "Linsanity" much anymore as the Houston guard is just another face in the crowd, overshadowed by James Harden's monster season.
Carlos Delfino, F2/3/2013 1:25:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard/forward Carlos Delfino left Saturday's game against Charlotte because of a strained elbow.
Insight: Delfino (10.5 ppg) is a borderline fantasy player who provides scoring but little else. For now, consider him questionable for Tuesday's game in Miami.
James Harden, G2/3/2013 9:03:00 AM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden recorded his first career triple-double Saturday versus the Bobcats.
Insight: He racked up 21 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 40 minutes of action. The 11 rebounds were a season-high for Harden, who will be attending his first All-Star Game later this month.
Chandler Parsons, F1/31/2013 10:25:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons knocked down 8-of-13 from the field (3-7 3PT) for 21 points with three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block Wednesday at Denver.
Insight: Parsons had a bout of inconsistency earlier this month but he's averaging 14.8 points on 52.2 percent shooting with 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.7 threes over his last 12 games.
Royce White, F1/27/2013 4:31:00 PM
Description: Rookie forward Royce White has officially been reinstated by the Rockets. He'll join Rio Grande of the NBA Development League on February 11th.
Insight: White was suspended earlier this month after refusing his assignment to the D-League and ranting on Twitter about the Rockets' perceived mishandling of his mental illness. We're not sure what to expect from White or if we'll even see him in the NBA this season but this is at least a step in the right direction.
James Harden, G1/23/2013 10:21:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden had a better shooting night Wednesday against the Nuggets, going 8-of-17 from the field (2-6 3PT, 5-5 FT) for 23 points with seven assists, three rebounds and one steal but he also turned the ball over seven times.
Insight: Harden came in having made a pitiful 28-of-100 from the field (4-of-27 3PT) over his last five games but still averaged 21.4 ppg in that span because he made 45-of-54 from the foul line. While we'd like to see fewer turnovers from Harden (3.9 per game), he more than makes up for it in other areas.
Royce White, F1/23/2013 6:51:00 PM
Description: According to the Houston Chronicle, forward Royce White is close to returning to the Rockets. White was suspended earlier in the month for refusing to report to the team's D-League affiliate in Rio Grande.
Insight: White is expected to start in the D-League so he won't have fantasy relevance right away.
Greg Smith, C1/23/2013 11:29:00 AM
Description: Rockets backup center Greg Smith is questionable for Wednesday's game against Denver as his wife just gave birth to a baby.
Insight: Smith isn't fantasy worthy, averaging 5.8 ppg and 4.4 rpg, but his absence will add more minutes to Omer Asik who has been very good this season averaging 10.3 ppg, 11.0 rpg.
Jeremy Lin, GCold1/21/2013 9:59:00 PM
Description: Houston guard Jeremy Lin has gone ice cold. He's shot just 4-for-17 from the field (23.5 percent) over his last two games.
Insight: Kevin McHale raised a few eyebrows by benching Lin for the start of the second half Saturday against Minnesota. Monday Lin played even worse, contributing only four points in 24 minutes of action. Backup Patrick Beverley (6.0 ppg) could begin to see more minutes if Lin's struggles continue.
James Harden, G1/21/2013 8:22:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden's shooting slump continued on Monday (5-for-20 from the field) but he was still able to score 29 points because of his success from the free throw line (19-of-21).
Insight: Harden is an embarrassing 0-for-12 from the three-point line in his last two games. Shooting woes aside, Harden still managed to reward fantasy owners with a team-high seven rebounds and seven assists on Monday.
James Harden, GCold1/20/2013 10:48:00 AM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden had another tough outing Saturday against the Timberwolves. He finished with 18 points but was only 5-of-18 from the field including a pitiful 0-for-7 from three-point distance.
Insight: He's shot just 37.5 percent (51-for-136) during Houston's seven-game losing streak. Harden will snap out of this slump sooner or later so fantasy owners don't need to panic.
Carlos Delfino, F1/18/2013 9:30:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting with five assists, three rebounds, two steals and three treys Friday against Indiana.
Insight: Delfino has made 2.4 threes per game over his last 25 games. He's also averaging 10.1 points, 2.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game, numbers that make him a worthwhile add in fantasy leagues.
Jeremy Lin, G1/17/2013 10:40:00 AM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin is averaging 14.4 points, 6.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.0 threes while shooting 46.5 percent from the field over his last 21 games.
Insight: Linsanity is a distant memory but Lin is still a solid fantasy point guard if you can deal with the turnovers.
James Harden, G1/17/2013 10:36:00 AM
Description: Houston shooting guard James Harden only shot 5-of-23 (1-8 3PT) for 20 points with eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals Wednesday against Dallas.
Insight: Harden has only made 13-of-43 (.302) over the last two games. He was due for a cold streak after averaging a ridiculous 29 points on 49.6 percent shooting his previous 20 games. Fortunately the Rockets guard always finds a way to contribute in the other categories while still getting his share of points even when his shot is off.
Jeremy Lin, G1/15/2013 5:56:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin will play Tuesday despite spraining his ankle in Monday's practice. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: This is the second time since mid-December that Lin has sprained his ankle in practice, but he hasn't missed a game this season and is averaging 12.1 ppg, 3.9 reb, 6.3 ast and 2.1 stl.
Jeremy Lin, G1/14/2013 3:05:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin sprained his left ankle during practice on Monday and will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.
Insight: Lin is averaging 12.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 6.3 apg, 2.1 spg this season. Toney Douglas would get much of Lin's court time if Lin can't run.
Marcus Morris, F1/13/2013 9:59:00 AM
Description: Rockets power forward Marcus Morris scored just four points on 2-of-6 shooting in 21 minutes Saturday against the 76ers.
Insight: Morris is only averaging 5.9 ppg in 21 mpg this month, due in large part to Patrick Patterson, who has returned from an injury to average 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds in 21 minutes per game in January. Both players are going to struggle to have fantasy value, especially when Carlos Delfino is taking up so many minutes off the bench as the three to Chandler Parsons' four.
Chandler Parsons, F1/13/2013 9:47:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons scored 23 points with nine rebounds, four assists and six turnovers Saturday against the 76ers. Parsons' scoring output could have been even better, but he only made 1-of-7 from 3-point range.
Insight: Parsons has attempted at least 10 shots in each of his last four games and is averaging 17.3 points in that span. He only scored 26 points combined in his previous four games.
James Harden, G1/11/2013 10:11:00 PM
Description: Houston shooting guard James Harden saw his streak of 25-point games come to an end Friday night in Boston.
Insight: Harden finished one point shy of recording his 15th game in a row of 25 or more points. Ironically, the last time Harden scored fewer than 25 was also against the Celtics back on December 14th.
Chandler Parsons, F1/8/2013 11:07:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons showed no ill effects of his flu Tuesday when he scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and two threes against the Lakers.
Insight: Parsons has been slumping lately -- 10.9 ppg on 43.7 percent shooting his last 11 games prior to Tuesday. Hopefully he can return to his early-season form.
Jeremy Lin, G1/8/2013 11:01:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin scored 19 points with six rebounds, five assists, four steals and two threes but also turned the ball over seven times Tuesday against Los Angeles.
Insight: When it comes to Lin, you just have to take the good with the bad. That includes his bouts of inconsistency shooting the ball and far too many turnovers (3.1 per game). The point guard has picked it up in his last 16 games, averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.1 threes per game in that span.
Carlos Delfino, F1/8/2013 10:59:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino has made 19 triples over his last five games, including 5-of-7 Tuesday against the Lakers.
Insight: Most of Delfino's shot attempts come from 3-point range and he doesn't get to the line much so his value is closely tied to his ability to drain the 3-ball. Right now, he's doing that very well.
James Harden, GHot1/8/2013 10:50:00 PM
Description: With 31 points on Tuesday versus the Lakers, Rockets guard James Harden tied a franchise record with his 13th consecutive game with 25 or more points.
Insight: Harden added nine assists, six rebounds and one triple with 8-of-8 from the foul line on Tuesday. The shooting guard has been unstoppable in his last 17 games, scoring 25-plus in 16 of them and averaging 29.5 points on 49.8 shooting, 5.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.1 threes over in that stretch.
Chandler Parsons, FCold1/8/2013 4:47:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons (flu) will be active Tuesday after participating in shootaround. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Parsons has been playing at a high level, averaging 14.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.3 spg, well above expectations, but he has slumped lately -- 10.9 ppg on 43.7 percent shooting his last 11 games.
Chandler Parsons, F1/8/2013 10:43:00 AM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons is questionable for Tuesday's game against the LA Lakers. He's been dealing with the flu bug that seems to be everywhere.
Insight: Parsons has been playing at a high level, averaging 14.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.3 spg, well above expectations. Jeremy Lin and James Harden are getting all the press, but don't overlook Parsons if you need SF help. Carlos Delfino would see most of the playing time if Parsons can't go.
Royce White, F1/6/2013 7:49:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Royce White has been suspended for a week after refusing his assignment to play in the D-League.
Insight: White, a first round pick, admitted in an interview earlier this week that there's a chance he might never play in the NBA. This situation doesn't look very promising.
Carlos Delfino, F1/5/2013 10:15:00 AM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino has scored 22 points in two of his three games since returning from a two-game absence, but he only had two points in the other game.
Insight: Delfino made six threes on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 4 but missed all four of his 3-point attempts on Jan. 2. The 3-point attempts are certainly there -- Delfino is averaging 6.1 in 25 minutes this season -- but he has to make more of them to offset below average production in other areas.
James Harden, GHot1/5/2013 10:10:00 AM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden has scored 25 or more points in 11 straight games, tied for the third-longest streak in franchise history. Harden is only two away from the Rockets record, set by Moses Malone in 1981-82, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Insight: Harden has actually posted 25 or more points in 14 of the last 15 games, with a 21-pointer on Dec. 14 breaking the string. The guard is averaging 29.5 points on 49.8 percent shooting with 5.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 2.1 threes, 2.8 turnovers and an .876 free-throw percentage on an incredible 11.3 attempts per game during that stretch.
Patrick Patterson, F1/4/2013 10:20:00 AM
Description: Rockets power forward Patrick Patterson hasn't regained his starting job yet but a change could be on the horizon. Patterson scored 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting on Friday against the Bucks while starter Marcus Morris had zero on 0-of-7 shooting in 25 minutes.
Insight: Patterson missed seven games in December due to a foot injury and has been coming off the bench in four games since returning to action. Morris was a solid replacement in Patterson's absence but Patterson has made 13-of-15 from the field over his last two games compared to Morris' 2-of-14.
Patrick Patterson, F1/2/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Marcus Morris played well when Rockets forward Patrick Patterson was out of the starting lineup and scored 39 points in Patterson's first two games back, but the two split the power forward minutes on Wednesday against the Hornets.
Insight: Patterson's minutes have increased in each game since returning from a sore foot. He hasn't yet regained his starting role but played 23 minutes to Morris' 21 on Wednesday and scored 15 points with 10 rebounds. Look for the two to flip roles soon, with Patterson becoming the more valuable fantasy property but ultimately being limited by Morris' presence.
Royce White, F12/31/2012 3:28:00 PM
Description: According to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets do not plan to release disgruntled rookie Royce White despite his refusal to play in the D-League.
Insight: White hasn't appeared in a single game for the Rockets this season and who knows if he ever will. We'll let you know if anything changes but for now, he's not a fantasy option.
Royce White, F12/30/2012 2:21:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Royce White has, once again, refused an assigment to the D-League.
Insight: Here we go again. The Rockets and their first round draft pick seem to be at an impasse and it doesn't look like this situation will be resolved any time soon. Ignore him in fantasy.
Marcus Morris, FHot12/30/2012 10:42:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Marcus Morris scored a season-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting with four threes, six rebounds and one steal Saturday against the Thunder.
Insight: Morris has been superb in eight games since joining the starting lineup in place of the injured Patrick Patterson. In that span, he's averaging 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.0 threes per game.
Royce White, F12/30/2012 10:38:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Royce White has been assigned to the D-League.
Insight: White had been on a sabbatical to deal with some of his personal issues including OCD, anxiety disorder and a fear of flying but now it appears he's finally ready to rejoin the team. Obviously, he won't have any fantasy value until he's back up with the big team but this at least looks like a step in the right direction for the talented but very high maintenance power forward.
Patrick Patterson, F12/29/2012 7:45:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Patrick Patterson is active for Saturday's game against the Thunder. Patterson had missed Houston's previous seven games because of a bruised right hip.
Insight: Coach Kevin McHale is going to be cautious with his big man so don't expect Patterson to see a ton of minutes tonight against OKC. He had been averaging a career-best 13.2 ppg before the injury.
Chandler Parsons, F12/28/2012 11:07:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons scored 24 points with eight rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block Friday against the Spurs. Parsons made 11-of-15 from the field (2-5 3PT).
Insight: Parsons only gets to the foul line 2.4 times per game so he has to shoot well to keep his scoring average up. He has done that this season while also providing strong numbers in rebounding, assists, steals and 3-pointers.
James Harden, GHot12/28/2012 11:00:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden made 10-of-22 from the floor (3-4 3PT, 10-13 FT) for 33 points with seven assists, five rebounds and two steals Friday against the Spurs
Insight: Harden is averaging 29.9 points over his last 11 games as he has improved his shooting percentage dramatically, especially from 3-point range, in that span.
Carlos Delfino, F12/28/2012 7:02:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino (illness) isn't expected to play Friday against the Spurs. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Delfino is making 2.0 threes per game this season but that's where his fantasy value ends. He is only shooting 36.7 percent from the field with averages of 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
Chandler Parsons, F12/26/2012 7:28:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons will play Wednesday against the Timberwolves despite a knee injury.
Insight: Parsons broke out of a mini-slump with 23 points on Christmas but then after the game it was reported he had swelling in his knee. Parsons might not play his usual allotment of minutes tonight so fantasy owners should be hesitant to start him.
Marcus Morris, FHot12/25/2012 12:02:00 PM
Description: With starting PF Patrick Patterson out of the lineup, backup Marcus Morris has played at a fantasy-worthy level.
Insight: As a starter the second-year PF has averaged 13.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 1.6 apg, also exactly the same production as Patterson.
Patrick Patterson, F12/25/2012 12:00:00 PM
Description: Houston PF Patrick Patterson (13.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.4 apg) will need a couple more weeks before he can return from a right foot injury.
Insight: Patterson's spot in the lineup has been ably manned by Marcus Morris. As a starter the second-year PF has averaged 13.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 1.6 apg, also exactly the same production as Patterson.
James Harden, GHot12/25/2012 11:53:00 AM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden has become a fantasy superstar after getting out from under the shadow of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City.
Insight: Harden's scoring average has jumped from 16.8 ppg to 25.6 ppg and while his shooting percentages are down it's because he forcing up 17 shots per game in this offense. He's going to the line 10 times per game which certainly has been a big contributor to his rise in scoring average. He's playing the most minutes of his career (38.6) which is also helping push him to career highs in rebounds (4.4), assists (5.4), steals (1.5), blocks (.0.5) and turnovers (3.7).
Jeremy Lin, G12/25/2012 11:47:00 AM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin is averaging 18.3 points and 8.3 assists since facing his old club a week ago (three games).
Insight: Lin (11.7 ppg, 6.6 apg, 4.4 rpg) is still trying to figure out how he and James Harden, who also likes to play with the ball in his hands, will mesh together, but we like the more motivated Lin we have seen this past week.
Marcus Morris, FHot12/22/2012 10:50:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Marcus Morris made 6-of-8 from the floor (3-4 3PT) for 16 points Saturday against Memphis.
Insight: Morris has started the last four games and averaged 15.5 ppg during that span. Patrick Patterson will miss two more weeks due to a bruised right knee so go ahead and grab Morris.
Jeremy Lin, GHot12/22/2012 10:46:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin is averaging 18.3 points and 8.3 assists his last three games.
Insight: Lin (11.6 ppg, 6.0 apg, 3.9 rpg) is far from perfect but he's certainly worth owning in fantasy leagues.
James Harden, GHot12/22/2012 10:40:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden has accumulated 240 points with a .519 shooting percentage his last eight games. That's 30 ppg. Harden had 31 points on 9-of-13 shooting (3-3 3PT, 10-12 FT) with eight assists, two rebounds and three steals Saturday against the Grizzlies.
Insight: If we had a few complaints with Harden's high-scoring start to the season, it's that he only shot 41 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from 3-point range while turning the ball over 4.1 times per game in his first 17 games. His last eight, he has made 41.2 percent of his 3-point attempts while turning it over 2.9 times per game.
Marcus Morris, F12/20/2012 10:33:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Marcus Morris is has tallied 15.3 ppg and 4.7 rpg in three games since joining the starting lineup.
Insight: Morris has hit two 3-pointers per game in that span. Morris will only be valuable while Patrick Patterson (right knee bruise, day-to-day) is out.
Jeremy Lin, G12/17/2012 9:58:00 PM
Description: Houston point guard Jeremy Lin went into the birthplace of Linsanity -- Madison Square Garden -- and beat the Knicks with 22 points (9-15 FG) with eight assists, four rebounds and two steals Monday.
Insight: It was Lin's best game since scoring 38 points on Dec. 19 against the Spurs. He had 22 points combined in the three games following that huge effort.
James Harden, GHot12/17/2012 9:53:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden is averaging 27 ppg in four games since returning from a sprained ankle. He had 28 on 9-of-18 shooting (2-6 3PT, 8-9 FT) with 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals Monday in a win over the Knicks.
Insight: Harden is putting up 29 ppg on 49.1 percent shooting (52-of-106) his last six games.
Jeremy Lin, G12/17/2012 10:38:00 AM
Description: Houston point guard Jeremy Lin has posted just 6.0 ppg and 4.5 apg in his last two contests.
Insight: Perhaps Lin was focused on the upcoming Monday night matchup with his old team - the New York Knicks. He's not hurt that we know of, so we have no other explanation for his poor play of late.
Patrick Patterson, F12/15/2012 10:02:00 PM
Description: An MRI on Patrick Patterson's foot revealed a bone bruise.
Insight: It appears the Houston forward will be out indefinitely. Patterson (13.2 ppg) may have suffered the injury during Friday's night's win against the Celtics.
Marcus Morris, FCold12/15/2012 10:11:00 AM
Description: Rockets reserve forward Marcus Morris is only averaging 4.3 ppg with 3.6 rpg on 30 percent shooting in his last 10 games.
Insight: Morris turned in 10.6 ppg and 4.8 rpg in Houston's first 11 contests but has been a non-factor since. It's time to cut him loose.
Chandler Parsons, F12/15/2012 10:09:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons had 15 points and came within one rebound and two assists of a triple-double Friday against Boston.
Insight: Parsons has picked up right where he left off before missing one game with an injured shoulder at the end of November. In seven games this month, Parsons is averaging 15.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.9 threes per game.
Greg Smith, C12/15/2012 10:09:00 AM
Description: Rockets center Greg Smith made 8-of-9 field goal attempts Friday against the Celtics for 20 points off the bench in 22 minutes.
Insight: Smith had a similar game on Dec. 4, making 7-of-8 for 21 points, but he followed that up by scoring nine points total over his next four games. He'll only be a fantasy option if Omer Asik gets injured.
Jeremy Lin, G12/14/2012 10:13:00 AM
Description: Houston point guard Jeremy Lin had just five points Friday against Boston.
Insight: Lin (11.0 ppg, 6.1 apg) scored 38 points on Dec. 10 but he's produced just 30 points combined in his other five games since Dec. 4.
James Harden, GHot12/13/2012 3:31:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden returned to the lineup Wednesday and scored 31 points on 10-of-20 shooting with four rebounds, two assists and three steals in 39 minutes.
Insight: Harden missed Monday's game due to a sprained ankle, but it wasn't a serious concern. The shooting guard is on fire his last three games, averaging 33 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.0 steals while shooting 56.6 percent from the field.
James Harden, G12/12/2012 7:04:00 PM
Description: Rockets shooting guard James Harden missed Monday's game against the Spurs because of a sprained right ankle but he'll be back on the court Wednesday for Houston's game versus the Wizards.
Insight: Harden was back at practice on Tuesday so there was never much doubt about his availablity for tonight's game. He enters Wednesday with the league's fifth-highest scoring average (24.7 ppg).
Jeremy Lin, GHot12/12/2012 6:48:00 PM
Description: Houston point guard Jeremy Lin will be in the starting lineup Wednesday when the Rockets host Washington. Lin sprained his ankle in practice earlier in the week.
Insight: Lin (11.4 ppg, 6.1 apg) is coming off a season-best 38-point performance Monday versus San Antonio and should be in for another big game Wednesday against the reeling Wizards.
James Harden, G12/12/2012 10:11:00 AM
Description: Houston guard James Harden (ankle) practiced Tuesday and is expected to play Wednesday against the Wizards.
Insight: Harden (24.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.6 apg) sat out Monday's game due to a sprained right ankle. Fantasy owners can't afford to have Harden out for long. He's scored 68 points in his last two starts.
Jeremy Lin, G12/11/2012 4:34:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin sprained his left ankle near the end of practice Tuesday. He's day-to-day and questionable for Wednesday's game.
Insight: The Rockets won't know the severity of Lin's injury until they see if there is swelling, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, though he did say the team didn't seem "overly concerned."
James Harden, G12/11/2012 4:32:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden (ankle) practiced Tuesday and is expected to play Wednesday against the Wizards. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Harden (24.7 ppg, 5.6 apg, 4.4 rpg) sat out Monday's game due to a sprained right ankle. The sooner he can get back in the lineup, the better.
James Harden, G12/10/2012 7:02:00 PM
Description: Houston guard James Harden has been ruled out for Monday's game against San Antonio.
Insight: He'll sit out to rest his sprained right ankle. Carlos Delfino (9.3 ppg) will fill in and get the start at shooting guard.
James Harden, GHot12/10/2012 1:11:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden (ankle) didn't participate in shootaround Monday and is a game-time decision for Monday's game. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Harden rolled his ankle in the first half Saturday but played through it on his way to 39 points and nine assists. However, just nine of those points came in the second half after his ankle tightened up during halftime.
James Harden, GHot12/9/2012 11:26:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden scored 30 points in the frst half despite turning his ankle when he stepped on Mavericks big man Elton Brand's foot, but the ankle tightened at halftime and Harden had just nine points after the break. SOURCE: Houston Chronicle
Insight: "It was all my adrenaline in the first half," Harden said. "At halftime, I kind of sat down and got real tight. I just have to get treatment and ice it and get ready to go." We assume Harden will be available Monday when the Rockets host San Antonio, but we'll keep you posted.
Chandler Parsons, F12/8/2012 11:09:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons has not shot well in his last three games, hitting just 14-of-43 (.326) from the field.
Insight: Hopefully Parsons injured shoulder isn't still bothering him. He did have a double-double Saturday despite the cold spell, scoring 18 points with 10 boards, five assists and two steals. Fantasy owners have no choice but to keep starting the forward.
Toney Douglas, G12/8/2012 11:00:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard Toney Douglas has severely cut into Jeremy Lin's minutes over the last three games, averaging 28 mpg to Lin's 21.
Insight: Lin's poor shooting and sloppy ballhandling have landed him on the bench more often in favor of Douglas, who has scored 15 ppg his last three games.
James Harden, GHot12/8/2012 10:54:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden hit 10 of his 17 field goal attempts (4-of-9 3PT) and 15-of-16 free throws for 39 points with nine assists, six rebounds, two steals and one block Saturday versus Dallas.
Insight: The one blemish was Harden's six turnovers, but you won't hear us complaining. The shooting guard has made 20-of-33 (7-of-15 3PT) from the field over his last two games after hitting just 3-of-19 on Dec. 4 against the Lakers. Harden has averaged 24.7 points through 19 games despite not shooting well from 3-point range. If he can get it going from downtown in addition to averaging 9.4 free-throw attempts per game, watch out.
Toney Douglas, G12/4/2012 10:45:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard Toney Douglas joined teammate Greg Smith in helping Houston come back from a 17-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday. Douglas scored 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting with three assists, four rebounds, two steals and three threes.
Insight: Douglas has had some decent games as Houston's backup PG this season but nothing like this explosion. We don't expect an encore but could see Douglas cut into struggling starter Jeremy Lin's minutes like he did Tuesday.
Greg Smith, C12/4/2012 10:42:00 PM
Description: Rockets center Greg Smith hit 7-of-8 shots and scored 21 points with nine rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes off the bench to spark a 17-point comeback victory over the Lakers Tuesday.
Insight: Smith scored 13 points in just 16 minutes in Houston's last game. While this is likely a one-off effort on an off night for Omer Asik (10 points, 9 rebounds, 24 minutes), Smith is someone to keep an eye on.
James Harden, G12/4/2012 10:38:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden only made 3-of-19 from the floor but hit 9-of-11 free throws for 15 points with 10 rebounds, six assists and four turnovers Tuesday against the Lakers.
Insight: Harden hasn't shot well in his new role as Houston's go-to guy, hitting on just 41 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from 3-point range, but he's attempting 9.2 free throws per game and making 83.3 percent of them.
Carlos Delfino, F12/1/2012 7:30:00 PM
Description: Houston swingman Carlos Delfino will be active for Saturday night's game versus the Jazz. Delfino has missed the past two weeks because of a groin injury.
Insight: Delfino needs to improve his field goal percentage (currently at a career-low 33.3 percent) before we can recommend him as a legitimate fantasy option.
Chandler Parsons, F12/1/2012 2:59:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons told CSN Houston that he was able to go through the entire shootaround Saturday and will play versus Utah. SOURCE: Howard Chen, CSNHouston.com
Insight: Parsons missed Nov. 28 against the Thunder due to a strained shoulder but will be back in the starting lineup. He's averaging 38 mpg this season. Carlos Delfino (groin) is also expected to play for the first time since Nov. 14. Delfino should get 20-plus minutes as a backup SG/SF but doesn't hold much fantasy value.
Chandler Parsons, F11/29/2012 9:58:00 PM
Description: An MRI confirmed a right shoulder strain for Houston forward Chandler Parsons. He's day-to-day. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: Parsons has played 38 minutes per game this season as Houston's starting small forward. He's averaging 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.4 threes and 1.1 steals per game and should be owned in all leagues. The Rockets play Saturday against the Jazz, but a more realistic return date for Parsons might be Dec. 4 against the Lakers.
Chandler Parsons, F11/28/2012 7:05:00 PM
Description: Houston forward Chandler Parsons will sit out Wednesday's game against the Thunder because of a sore shoulder.
Insight: Parsons has had a breakout season, scoring a career-best 15.7 ppg in 14 contests. We wouldn't expect the 24-year-old to miss much time with this injury.
Patrick Patterson, FHot11/28/2012 9:36:00 AM
Description: Houston forward Patrick Patterson stayed hot with a 27-point outing Wednesday night against Oklahoma City.
Insight: Patterson set a career-high with 22 points in Tuesday night's win against the Raptors but that mark lasted only about 24 hours. He's averaging an impressive 19.6 ppg in his last five contests. Fantasy owners should be taking advantage of Patterson's hot streak.
Patrick Patterson, FHot11/27/2012 10:33:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Patrick Patterson scored a season-high 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting Tuesday against Toronto.
Insight: Patterson has started all 13 games after missing the season opener with an injury. He's averaged 16.7 points during a streak of six straight double-digit scoring games.
Jeremy Lin, G11/27/2012 10:27:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin had his strongest shooting game of the season Tuesday against Toronto, making 7-of-9 buckets for 16 points. He also had 10 assists, four rebounds, three steals and just three turnovers in the game.
Insight: Lin has been a mess as of late, shooting poorly and turning the ball over at an unacceptable rate. He got things back on track Tuesday after showing glimpses of a turnaround last week against the Knicks.
James Harden, G11/27/2012 10:24:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden made 9-of-19 from the field (4-of-8 3PT) for 24 points with 12 assists, six rebounds and three steals Tuesday versus Toronto.
Insight: We've grown accustomed to these tremendous all-around efforts from Harden. The Rockets shooting guard has handed out 21 assists over his last two games.
Chuck Hayes, C11/27/2012 11:46:00 AM
Description: Sacramento backup center Chuck Hayes is questionable for Tuesday's game against Minnesota after receiving stitches for a cut over an eye.
Insight: Hayes isn't playing at a fantasy-worthy level as the backup to DeMarcus Cousins. He's averaging 3.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 2.2 apg.
Carlos Delfino, F11/27/2012 11:20:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino is doubtful for Tuesday's game against Toronto with a strained groin. Delfino had offseason hernia surgery.
Insight: Delfino isn't likely to come back from this injury before he's 100 percent given the offseason surgery. He was averaging just 24 mpg off the bench as Houston's backup SG/SF. He's made 1.9 threes per game but doesn't play enough to warrant a fantasy roster spot with his 8.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 1.9 apg averages.
James Harden, G11/23/2012 10:44:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden led the team in scoring with 33 points Friday in a win against New York.
Insight: Harden made all 16 of his free throw attempts during the game. He also led the team with nine assists.
Chandler Parsons, F11/23/2012 10:42:00 PM
Description: Forward Chandler Parsons scored a season-high 31 points in Houston's surprising win over the Knicks on Friday night.
Insight: Parsons accomplished this in just 34 minutes of playing time. He connected on 13 of his 17 field goal attempts including four of seven from behind the three-point line. This was the third time this season Parsons has scored 20 or more points.
Carlos Delfino, F11/23/2012 12:16:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino is expected to miss Friday's game against New York. He is dealing with a groin injury and there is no schedule for his return to the lineup.
Insight: Delfino is averaging just 24 mpg off the bench as Houston's backup SG/SF. He's made 1.9 threes per game but doesn't play enough to warrant a fantasy roster spot with his 8.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 1.9 apg averages.
Patrick Patterson, FHot11/22/2012 12:54:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Patrick Patterson is averaging 17 points over his last four games. He scored 20 with eight rebounds on 8-of-16 shooting Wednesday versus the Bulls.
Insight: Patterson has started 11 straight after missing the first game of the season due to injury. He's been a solid fantasy forward in deeper leagues but doesn't offer elite production in any category.
James Harden, G11/22/2012 12:51:00 PM
Description: Houston shooting guard James Harden fought through illness to score 28 points on 8-of-14 shooting with four rebounds, three assists, three 3-pointers and five steals Wednesday against the Bulls.
Insight: Harden was clearly out of sorts Monday in Utah, hitting just one of six shots for six points before sitting out the entire second half. His turnovers (six on Wednesday, 50 in 12 games) are still troubling but there's been little else to complain about with Harden this season.
James Harden, G11/21/2012 5:33:00 PM
Description: Houston shooting guard James Harden is expected to suit up Wednesday against Chicago despite suffering from flu-like symptoms earlier in the week.
Insight: Harden was clearly out of sorts Monday in Utah, hitting just one of six shots for six points before sitting out the entire second half. Now that the illness has passed, Harden is a must-start in all fantasy leagues.
James Harden, G11/19/2012 10:41:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden left Monday's game with "upper respiratory distress." SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Harden has been ill the past two games but is feeling worse today. He started anyway but only played 17 minutes and made 1-of-6 from the field. We consider him day-to-day.
James Harden, G11/19/2012 8:38:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden is battling "upper respiratory distress" but will start Monday's game against the Jazz. SOURCE: Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle
Insight: Harden has been ill the past two games but is feeling worse today. The Rockets guard is averaging 26 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists through 10 games this season. He's played 40 mpg, up from 31:23 last season.
James Harden, G11/19/2012 8:06:00 PM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden is battling "upper respiratory distress" and will be a game-time decision Monday.
Carlos Delfino, F11/19/2012 10:10:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino missed Sunday's game against the LA Lakers and is questionable for Monday's contest at Utah. He is dealing with a groin injury.
Insight: Delfino is averaging just 24 mpg off the bench as Houston's backup SG/SF. He's made 1.9 threes per game but doesn't play enough to warrant a fantasy roster spot with his 8.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 1.9 apg averages.
Carlos Delfino, F11/18/2012 11:20:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino is questionable for Sunday's game against the LA Lakers.
Chandler Parsons, FHot11/17/2012 9:22:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons played nearly 48 minutes in Houston's overtime loss Friday against the Trail Blazers, scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting with 11 rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers.
Insight: Parsons was already in the top ten in average minutes per game prior to Friday, and he got more playing time with Carlos Delfino out. The forward has attempted at least 10 shots in his last five games while averaging 19 ppg and 8.3 rpg over the last three.
Jeremy Lin, G11/17/2012 9:14:00 AM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin had his first double-digit assist game of the season Friday against Portland.
Insight: Lin has slipped as of late after a hot start, scoring less than 10 points three straight games prior to his 11-point effort Friday. Lin also grabbed six rebounds to go with his 11 assists. Lin needs to get his shooting percentage (.355) up but he's still providing owners with solid value due to his foul shooting (.857) and steals (2.3). He's also minimized his turnovers, averaging one less per game despite playing nearly eight minutes more per game than last season.
James Harden, G11/17/2012 9:12:00 AM
Description: Rockets guard James Harden has scored 59 points over his last two games, including 29 with six rebounds and six assists Friday against Portland.
Insight: Harden is averaging nearly nine more shot attempts than he had last season. He's yet to find his 3-point stroke (.259) despite taking six per game. If those shots start falling, watch out.
Carlos Delfino, F11/16/2012 6:18:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino is dealing with a groin injury and will be a game-time decision Friday against Portland.
Insight: Delfino is averaging 24 mpg off the bench as Houston's backup SG/SF. He's made 1.9 threes per game but doesn't play enough to warrant a fantasy roster spot. The Rockets have several options who can absorb Delfino's minutes but none are of concern to fantasy owners.
Chandler Parsons, F11/16/2012 6:14:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons' 38.3 minutes per game rank seventh in the NBA this season.
Insight: Parsons has started all eight games and contributed 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. His most important asset to fantasy teams is his 3-point shooting; he's making 2.1 threes per game.
James Harden, G11/14/2012 10:29:00 PM
Description: Guard James Harden led Houston with 30 points Wednesday in a win over New Orleans.
Insight: This breaks a little bit of a dry spell for Harden, who hadn't gone over 25 points in a game since November 2nd. It's his third game of the season with 30-plus points.
Greg Smith, C11/9/2012 1:39:00 PM
Description: Rockets backup center Greg Smith is probable for Friday's game against Memphis. He's been dealing with a sore left foot.
Insight: Smith scored 10 points and pulled down five rebounds in 17 minutes against Detroit in his only on court appearance this season. He's worth keeping an eye on in deeper leagues.
Patrick Patterson, F11/8/2012 10:33:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Patrick Patterson scored 18 points with five rebounds and two 3-pointers on 8-of-13 shooting Wednesday.
Insight: Patterson missed the season opener due to a quad injury but he has played 32.3 mpg the last three contests and is averaging 13.0 points and 6.0 boards per game. He's an average fantasy option in deeper leagues.
Carlos Delfino, F11/8/2012 10:29:00 AM
Description: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino has attempted 26 3-pointers in four games this season, making 10 and averaging 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Insight: Delfino has also chipped in six steals in 25 minutes off the bench. If you need 3-pointers, Delfino could be the man you're looking for.
Royce White, F11/7/2012 10:30:00 AM
Description: Rockets rookie power forward Royce White is questionable for Wednesday's game against Denver with a migraine problem.
Insight: We're still waiting to see how Houston uses the talented rookie in a regular season game, but he'll likely get limited minutes behind Patrick Patterson.
Jeremy Lin, G11/2/2012 10:14:00 PM
Description: Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin followed up a strong debut with a near triple double in Friday's win over Atlanta.
Insight: Lin had 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists while shooting 6-of-16 from the field. He clearly has good chemistry with backcourt mate James Harden already.
James Harden, GHot11/2/2012 10:10:00 PM
Description: It didn't seem like there were many ways Rockets guard James Harden could top his debut with the team. How's this: 45 points on 14-of-19 shooting, 2-of-4 from 3-point range and 15-of-17 from the foul line Friday night against the Hawks.
Insight: Harden scored 37 points with 12 assists, six rebounds and four steals in his Rockets debut. Friday's performance wasn't as well rounded but it was still impressive. If you haven't drafted yet, there's certainly a strong case to be made for Harden as the fourth overall pick after LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul.
Patrick Patterson, F11/2/2012 2:50:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Patrick Patterson (left quad) is expected to play and start on Friday against Atlanta, coach Kevin McHale said.
Insight: Patterson averaged 7.7 ppg and 4.5 rpg last season while starting just one of 64 games. His numbers should rise with the start, but he may not reach fantasy worthy level.
Carlos Delfino, F11/1/2012 5:21:00 PM
Description: Sharp-shooting forward Carlos Delfino came off the bench and played 24 minutes in the season opener Wednesday, but scored 15 points on the strength of five made threes.
Insight: Delfino played behind starter Chandler Parsons (42.5 minutes, 11 points) but could carve out a significant role for himself due to Houston's lack of bench depth. Scoop him up if you need 3-point shooting.
Jeremy Lin, G11/1/2012 9:19:00 AM
Description: Point guard Jeremy Lin nearly posted a double-double Wednesday in his Rockets debut.
Insight: Lin finished with 12 points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals as Houston defeated the Pistons 105-96. Turnovers remain an issue for Lin (he had four on Wednesday) but if he can post a stat line like this every night, fantasy owners should be pretty happy.
James Harden, GHot10/31/2012 10:33:00 PM
Description: James Harden was dominant in his first game with the Rockets, scoring 37 points and dishing out 12 assists in 44 minutes of action.
Insight: Harden, who signed an $80 million extension earlier in the day, also had six rebounds and four steals in Houston's 105-96 win over the Pistons. The Rockets' next game is Friday night in Atlanta.
James Harden, G10/31/2012 6:44:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Chris Broussard reports that guard James Harden and the Rockets have agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract extension.
Insight: Harden is set to make his debut for Houston Wednesday night against the Pistons. During his first three seasons with Oklahoma City, Harden averaged 12.7 ppg.
Patrick Patterson, F10/30/2012 8:28:00 PM
Description: Rockets forward Patrick Patterson (quad) is "iffy" to play Wednesday, coach Kevin McHale said.
Insight: The Rockets are extremely thin and unproven at the forward spots. Chandler Parsons and rookies Terrence Jones, Royce White and Donatas Montiejunas may see major minutes at the forward spots in the season opener. It's a fantasy situation to avoid if you can, though we like the second-year forward Parsons as the best option in the short-term.
James Harden, G10/28/2012 10:13:00 AM
Description: The Thunder have traded guard James Harden to the Houston Rockets for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and draft picks. The Rockets will also receive Cole Aldrich, Lazar Hayward and Daequan Cook.
Insight: Harden was looking for a new contract and Oklahoma City didn't want to pay him and risk crossing the luxury tax threshold. The exciting young guard already had major fantasy value but the trade makes him even more attractive. He'll start at shooting guard next to Jeremy Lin after coming off the bench for most of his career. As the focal point of Houston's offense we should see his scoring average increase from the 16.8 he posted last season.
Royce White, F10/6/2012 12:04:00 PM
Description: Forward Royce White has come to an agreement with the Rockets that will allow him to take a bus to away games that are close enough to drive to instead of flying with the team. White will report to Rockets camp on Monday.
Insight: It's a unique situation but it should help White in dealing with his anxiety issues. White probably won't play a major role in Houston as a rookie.
Royce White, F10/4/2012 12:25:00 PM
Description: Houston rookie forward Royce White is seeking permission from the team to travel by bus instead of flying to some of the team's away games this season.
Insight: White, well known for his anxiety disorder, has a crippling fear of planes, and has not reported to Rockets camp because of personal issues. White showed plenty of potential last year at Iowa State when he led the team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals but his mental illness could prevent him from being an effective player at the next level. We'd be weary abou White's fantasy prospects heading into the season.
Carlos Delfino, F8/13/2012 9:12:00 PM
Description: Swingman Carlos Delfino agreed to a deal with the Houston Rockets on Monday.
Insight: Delfino (9.0 ppg, 2.3 apg, 3.9 rpg) is expected to compete with Chandler Parsons (9.5 ppg, 2.1 apg, 4.8 rpg) for Houston's starting small forward position next season.
Courtney Lee, SG7/19/2012 5:01:00 PM
Description: According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics will acquire guard Courtney Lee from the Rockets in a sign-and-trade deal for JaJuan Johnson.
Insight: Details are being finalized. Lee averaged 11.4 points and made 1.5 threes per game with Houston last season, but he isn't likely to get a boost in production as he battles with Jason Terry and Avery Bradley for playing time at shooting guard.
Jeremy Lin, G7/17/2012 10:53:00 PM
Description: The Knicks have officially declined to match Houston's three-year offer sheet for point guard Jeremy Lin, meaning Lin is now a member of the Rockets.
Insight: Lin will step right into Houston's starting PG role, as Goran Dragic and Kyle Lowry are gone. He'll get plenty of playing time but he may have a difficult time matching the 18.5 points and 7.6 assists he averaged in 26 games (25 starts) as a full-time rotation player with the Knicks last season, as the Rockets have gutted their roster this offseason.
Courtney Lee, SG7/12/2012 9:42:00 PM
Description: The Timberwolves are expected to pursue free agent shooting guard Courtney Lee if the Trail Blazers are able to retain small forward Nicolas Batum.
Insight: Batum (13.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg) agreed to the Timberwolves' offer sheet but it looks like Portland is going to match Minnesota's four year, $46.5 million offer. The Celtics have also demonstrated an interest in Lee (11.4 ppg) this offseason.
Luis Scola, F7/12/2012 7:32:00 PM
Description: Houston used its amnesty clause to waive forward Luis Scola on Thursday. The Rockets are hoping this maneuver will create enough cap room to land Orlando center Dwight Howard.
Insight: The Rockets made a push for Howard in the days leading up to the draft and now that the Nets seem to have moved on from Howard, Houston's interest has been renewed. Either way, this is a pretty risky move on the Rockets' part. Scola was one of the team's top contributors last season, posting 15.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg in 66 games. If Houston fails to bring in Howard, they'll have a difficult time finding someone to replace Scola's steady production at the power forward position.
Toney Douglas, G7/9/2012 9:46:00 PM
Description: Guard Toney Douglas has been traded to Houston as part of a sign-and-trade deal for center Marcus Camby.
Insight: Douglas averaged 10.6 ppg in 81 games in 2010-11, but he fell out of Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's rotation and stayed on the bench when Mike Woodson took the reigns. Douglas ended up averaging 6.2 points in 38 games. Houston lost free agent point guard Goran Dragic to the Suns and Kyle Lowry to trade, so there isn't much guard competition on the roster right now. Douglas could make for a nice late-round sleeper in deeper leagues.
Courtney Lee, F7/8/2012 10:32:00 PM
Description: The Celtics met with free agent Courtney Lee on Saturday and appear to be interested in working out a sign and trade deal for the Houston guard.
Insight: Lee (11.4 ppg) moved into the starting lineup after Kevin Martin went down with an injury and ended up averaging 13.2 ppg over the season's final two months. If Lee went to Boston he'd probably serve as Jason Terry's backup at shooting guard until Avery Bradley is healthy enough to return from offseason shoulder surgery. Marcus Camby, who went to college close to Boston at the University of Massachusetts, could also be involved if the Rockets and Celtics decide to engage in a sign and trade for Lee.
Marcus Camby, C7/2/2012 10:13:00 PM
Description: Free agent center Marcus Camby is hoping to remain with the Houston Rockets this offseason.
Insight: Unfortunately for Camby, it's not that simple. The Rockets are already pursuing Chicago center Omer Asik (3.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg) and it's doubtful Houston would give a big contract to a 38-year-old entering his 17th NBA season. Camby has also expressed an interest in playing for the Heat if Houston passes on him. Despite his age, Camby remains an above average rebounder and shot blocker (9 rpg, 1.4 bpg).
Jeremy Lamb, SG6/28/2012 8:49:00 PM
Description: Connecticut guard Jeremy Lamb will head to Houston as the No. 12 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Insight: Lamb is a big-time scorer (17.7 ppg for the Huskies in 2011-12) with tons of fantasy potential. Houston isn't the best situation for him because he'll likely start behind Kevin Martin on the team's depth chart at shooting guard but even in limited playing time Lamb should still be able to reward his owners with double-digit points on most nights.
Kyle Lowry, G5/27/2012 9:54:00 PM
Description: Kyle Lowry wants out of Houston if Kevin McHale is still the team's coach next season.
Insight: The Rockets really don't need Lowry now that Goran Dragic has emerged as Houston's point guard of the future. The Rockets could revisit a trade discussed earlier in the season that would have sent Lowry to Los Angeles in exchange for the Lakers' Pau Gasol if Lowry is serious about wanting to be traded.
