Description: Phillies third baseman Cody Asche hit his second home run of the season during Wednesday's loss to the Marlins and might be able to repeat that feat on Thursday afternoon.
Insight: Asche has been a solid option this season and now is hitting .340 with overall, but the key to him going deep again is the wind blowing out to right field at about 20 mph today. All he has to do is hit it in the air solidly and it should go out of hitter-friendly Citizen's Bank Park.
Description: Reds third baseman Todd Frazier is just 3-for-24 (.125) against Milwaukee right-hander Kyle Lohse.
Insight: Frazier has been productive this season despite a low .237 batting average with four homers and 13 RBI through the first 15 games. However, Thursday doesn't look like a good matchup for the third baseman.
Description: Mets third baseman David Wright will miss three weeks with his hamstring injury according to the New York Daily News.
Insight: Wright has been out for over a week since suffering a right hamstring strain. The good news is manager Terry Collins says Wright is right where he should be with his rehab although he hasn't started baseball activities yet.
Description: Angels third baseman David Freese went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the, 14-1, victory over the Athletics on Tuesday.
Insight: Freese had a two-RBI single in the sixth to really open up things up against Oakland. After the inning, the Angels led, 10-1. Freese is hitting .236 with three home runs and 11 RBI this season.
Description: Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in the, 6-5, victory over the Twins on Tuesday.
Insight: Moustakas hit a two-run bomb in the fifth to give the Royals a two-run lead, and then the third baseman capped off an eighth inning rally with a single to score the winning run. Moustakas is off to a great start, hitting .327 with three home runs and five RBI.
Description: Cubs third Kris Bryant proved on Monday why he is being considered the next Mike Trout.
Insight: Bryant went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the, 5-2, victory over the Pirates. Bryant had an RBI-single in the fifth and then doubled in two runs in the seventh. Bryant is hitting .429/.571/.1.150 with four RBI although it has been just 14 at-bats this season.
Description: Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval is not in Monday morning's starting lineup.
Insight: Sandoval has played through a left foot bruise, but will not start in the Patriots' Day game. He's batting .289 through the first 11 games, but with a low .696 OPS and zero homers. Utility man Brock Holt, who has already played at 2B, SS, 3B and OF this season, will start at the hot corner.
Description: Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a home run in the, 2-1, victory over the Reds on Sunday night.
Insight: Carpenter hit a solo home run to leadoff the bottom of the first. Kolten Wong hit a sacrifice fly that scored the winning run for the Cardinals in the eighth. Carpenter is hitting .400 with two home runs and 10 RBI in 45 at-bats this season.
Description: Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager went 3-for-5 with three RBI in the dramatic, 11-10, comeback victory over the Rangers on Sunday.
Insight: Seattle fell behind, 10-5, in the sixth, but Seager's RBI-single in the seventh began the comeback. Seager also singled in the eighth to score two more runs. Nelson Cruz completed the comeback with a walkoff single in the ninth.
Description: Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is a career 15-for-25 (.600) against Reds starter Homer Bailey.
Insight: Carpenter has posted back-to-back two-hit games and now sees a pitcher he owns in Bailey who is making his first appearance of the season. That's a great matchup for Carpenter and he's a must-start.

Description: Ble Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson hit a pair of home runs on Friday against the Braves.
Insight: Donaldson didn't have a home run this season coming into Friday's game, but he went deep in the third and fifth innings. Donaldson was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs in the game. He is hitting .302 this season.
Description: Cubs super prospect Kris Bryant went 0-for-4 in his major league debut on Friday agianst the Padres.
Insight: Bryant hit clean up in the Cubs order, and the youngster seemed a bit anxious. He swung at pitches out of the strike zone in all his at-bats, and Bryant struck out three times. He still has tremendous talent, though, and the sky seems to be the limit with him.
Description: Rays third baseman Evan Longoria left Thursday's game after he took a pitch in his left hip according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
Insight: Rays starter Chris Archer hit a couple Blue Jays during the game, and Toronto may have responded by hitting Longoria. Hopefully, the injury to Longoria is not serious. The Rays should have an update soon.
Description: Cubs super prospect Kris Bryant will be called up to the major league club on Friday according to ESPN Chicago.
Insight: The Cubs were expected to keep Bryant in the minors for 10 days to prevent him from becoming a free agent after the 2020 season. Because he started the season in the minors, Bryant will not be a free agent until 2021. In his final Triple-A game on Thursday, he hit a three-run bomb. Bryant should be owned in all standard leagues.
Description: Ble Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson was 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two runs in the, 12-7, victory over the Rays on Wednesday.
Insight: Donaldson got off to a very slow start, but he now has five hits in the last two games. He had a two-RBI single in the second and then an RBI-double in the fifth on Wednesday. As we said on Tuesday, it was only matter of time until Donaldson started producing like this.
Description: Phillies third baseman Cody Asche was 3-for-3 with a walk on Wednesday against the Mets.
Insight: Unfortunately, Asche didn't score or drive any runs in despite reaching base four times. He does, however, have hits in four straight games. In that stretch, Asche is 9-for-14 with a home run, but again, just one RBI and one run. Asche isn't fantasy relevant until he can get some help from the rest of the Philadelphia offense and produce some runs.
Description: Mets third baseman David Wright will like need a DL stint.
Insight: He left Tuesday's game in the ninth after injuring his hamstring,a nd manager Terry Collins said the injury is a "major problem." Ruben Tejada would like see the most time in Wright's absence.

Insight: Donaldson now has three mult-hit games with the Blue Jays this season. He hasn't gone yard yet, but he has two doubles and three RBI. Donaldson is also hitting just .233, but he should get things going hitting in the same lineup with Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion.
Description: Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe is dealing with a hamstring issue but has been upgraded to probable for Tuesday's game against Seattle.
Insight: Uribe is off to a slow start, batting .231 with zero homers or RBI in his first five games. he's not the 20 HR guy he was in Chicago or San Francisco, but he can still knock in a run when needed.
Description: Cubs third baseman Mike Olt is questionable for Tuesday's game against Cincinnati because of a bruised right wrist.
Insight: Olt is hitting .154 this season, but his replacement, Jonathan Herrera, hasn't done much either. Neither player will be of value much longer as Kris Bryant's arrival is right around the corner.
Description: Mets third baseman David Wright is off to a strong start this season and has a favorable matchup on Monday.
Insight: Wright ia a career .429 hitter (12-for-28) against Phillies starter Aaron Harang including five extra base hits. Add it a strong breeze blowing out to left and it could be a good day for Wright, who has started the season batting .320 through six games.

Insight: Wright registered two more hits on Sunday versus the Braves and is hiting .320/.346/.440 after the first week. He also had a walk on Sunday. Wright battled injures last season, so he has the potential to be much better this season since he is healthy.
