(Tuesday, February 26th)
Final Score: Boston 4, NY Islanders 1
Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Brad Marchand and David Krejci tallied in the second period, as Boston downed the New York Islanders, 4-1, at Nassau Coliseum.
Adam McQuaid scored in the first period and Gregory Campbell added a late marker for the Bruins, winners of four straight contests and seven of their last nine.
Tuukka Rask made 36 saves, as Boston concluded a five-game road trip at 4-1-0.
"Good to get the win," said Rask. "You've got to be confident when you're winning, but you've got to realize we're not playing a full 60 minutes."
Casey Cizikas provided the sole offense for the Islanders, who have lost two in a row and four of six. Evgeni Nabokov yielded three goals on 33 shots in the setback.
"We competed hard," said Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. "That's one of the best teams that we're going to play and I give our guys credit. We did a lot of good things. A couple breakdowns cost us some goals."
Marchand put the visitors on top to stay with 38 seconds elapsed in the middle stanza when he backhanded an Andrew Ference rebound home from the slot, and it was 3-1 at 5:16 when Krejci finished off a rush by one-timing Milan Lucic's feed from the left circle.
Nabokov held the fort for the hosts in the third with 11 stops, but Campbell hit the empty net with 1:05 remaining to seal the victory.
McQuaid's right-point blast squeaked through the crook of Nabokov's arm with 6:43 played after the opening faceoff, but Cizikas evened things at 15:49.
The Bruins have won both meetings this season and eight of 10 since the start of the 2010-11 campaign ... Rask has stopped 116 of a possible 122 shots in winning his last four starts ... Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin both recorded a pair of assists for Boston ... The Islanders sport the worst home record in the NHL at 2-8-0, having won just once in eight February residencies.
