Vince Young says he's been cut by Green Bay
(Sports Network) - It appears that Vince Young will not be the backup quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers haven't made it official, but Young announced via Twitter on Saturday morning that he has been cut by the club.
"Thanks to the @packers for the opportunity great organization great team wonderful fans good luck this season," Young wrote.
The Packers released quarterback Graham Harrell earlier this week, leaving Young as the presumptive top candidate to be Rodgers' understudy.
Young, who signed with Green Bay in early August, last played in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011. He appeared in six games that season and threw for 866 yards with four touchdowns and nine interceptions.
The 30-year-old former Tennessee Titans starter was with the Buffalo Bills during the 2012 preseason, but was cut before the start of the campaign.
Young, the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, spent the first five years of his career with the Titans. In 60 career games, Young has thrown for 8,964 yards, 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions.
