Description: Toronto starter Dustin McGowan got his first win since June 22, 2008 Friday against the Orioles.
Insight: McGowan fired 6 1/3 scoreless innings, struck out two, walked one and gave up five hits. The right-hander dealt with numerous shoulder injuries from 2008-12 before finally returning last season and throwing 25 2/3 innings in relief. It's a good story, but he's not really a fantasy option you want to pursue.

Description: Dustin McGowan will serve as Toronto's fifth starter to begin the season, according to the Toronto Star.
Insight: McGowan threw just 21 big league innings from 2009-12 due to three separate shoulder surgeries to repair a frayed labrum and torn rotator cuff before returning for 25 2/3 frames last year. His best season was 2007, when he went 12-10 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 169 2/3 innings. He could be a decent AL-only option, but there's no need to draft him in mixed leagues.

His best season was 2007, when he went 12-10 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 169 2/3 innings. He's expected to be a 1-2 innings reliever, manager John Gibbons said, so he won't have any fantasy value.

Insight: Don't get ahead of yourself - not even McGowan thinks he will break spring training with Toronto. He will wait a couple days and see how his arm feels. It's a positive step but he is months away from pitching in a game.
