Final Score: Colorado 10, Chicago White Sox 4
Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - DJ LeMahieu tied the game with an RBI double in the sixth inning and hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth, leading the Colorado Rockies to a 10-4 win over the Chicago White Sox in the finale of a three-game series on Wednesday.
LeMahieu's hit in the eighth keyed a six-run rally that broke the game wide open. He had three hits and scored twice for the Rockies, who took the first and third games to win their second straight series.
Charlie Blackmon also had three hits, an RBI and two runs scored for Colorado.
Conor Gillaspie hit a two-run single for the White Sox, who finished 2-4 on a six-game road trip.
Justin Morneau singled to lead off the eighth against Scott Downs (0-2) and Nolan Arenado followed with a hit off Ronald Belisario. Both moved up on a bunt and LeMahieu laced a 94 mph pitch to center field to bring them home.
"With the infield in I was just trying to elevate something," said LeMahieu. "He threw the sinker but I think he left it up a little bit. I was just lucky to hit it hard."
Josh Rutledge and Michael Cuddyer added RBI singles in the inning and Carlos Gonzalez knocked in two with a double.
Earlier, LeMahieu knocked White Sox right-hander Erik Johnson out of his first interleague start with his line-drive double to tie the game.
White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia was hurt diving for the hit when he rolled over on his left shoulder.
Garcia left the game, but the White Sox said initial X-Rays on his shoulder were negative for fracture, separation or dislocation.
Johnson gave up nine hits and a walk and struck out four in 5 2/3 innings.
"The Rockies put together some great at-bats," said White Sox second baseman Marcus Semien. "They didn't get out of their zone. They got their pitch to hit and they didn't chase too many. We tried as a defense but they hit the ball hard."
Rockies righty Juan Nicasio went five frames, also allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Rex Brothers (1-0) got two outs in the eighth and picked up the win.
Blackmon stroked Johnson's second pitch for a triple in the first inning and scored on Cuddyer's ground out to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.
Tyler Flowers and Adam Eaton each hit an RBI single in the second inning for the White Sox, but Blackmon and Arenado did the same for Colorado -- in the second and third innings -- to give the home team a 3-2 lead.
Gillaspie's two-run single for Chicago in the fifth scored Eaton and Semien, who had led off with back-to-back base hits.
The White Sox return to start a four-game homestand with Cleveland on Thursday ... The Rockies start a seven-game road trip Friday in San Francisco.
