Larry Hughes is getting a chance to show what he can do.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
If I told you that there was a player out there, this late in the fantasy season, who would average 21.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.7 apg for you and is still available in more than 50% of the leagues, would you believe me?
Well there is!
His name is Larry Hughes, formerly of the Chicago Bulls and now of the New York Knicks. He is finally healthy and getting a chance to show what he can do. Hughes seems to have very quickly fit into Coach Mike D'Antoni's run and gun offense and at 6'5" can play both shooting guard or small forward.
In fact, on Tuesday night he exploded for 39 points and six rebounds in 42 minutes of action. Hughes has always been a good scorer, topping out in the 2004-05 season with Washington when he averaged 22.0 ppg., but injury problems and his relationship with teammates seemed to keep him from settling in with any team on a long-term basis and he is now with his fifth team since 2000.
Hughes might be that two-to-three week pickup who puts you over the top in either the points or three-point shooting categories and he certainly won't hurt you in free-throw percentage where he is averaging 81.1% for the season.
If you are close and need that little bit down the stretch to capture the crown, take a look at Hughes.
