Andris Biedrins went down with a sprained right ankle in a Friday loss to Phoenix.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
The injury/illness bug continues to strike around the NBA. In my piece on Wednesday I outlined the numerous injuries from the previous seven days of play around the league. Nine high-value fantasy players missed time (Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Deron Williams, Brad Miller, Jameer Nelson, Chauncey Billups, Kevin Garnett and Joe Johnson).
Although Parker, Duncan, Williams and Billups have returned to the court, the injury list has continued to grow in the three days since then.
Add two "big-time" stars to the list felled by illness - Washington forward Caron Butler and Houston center Yao Ming. Yao played on Thursday and posted a solid 20 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes, but may or may not play on Saturday against Minnesota. He certainly won't be at 100%.
Butler played last Monday, but has missed two games since then. Washington got blown out in both of the games and Butler's absence hurt Antawn Jamison as he was double teamed into a 4-for-20 shooting night on Wednesday (115-88 loss to New Jersey) and sat out the fourth quarter of a blowout on Friday night (124-103 loss to Denver).
Chris Bosh, F, Toronto missed Friday night's game due to a sprained right knee. His 22.7 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 2.4 apg are hard to replace both on the court and in your fantasy lineup. Jermaine O'Neal picked up the slack on Friday night with 24 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Andris Biedrins, C, Golden State is having his finest season but went down with a sprained right ankle in a Friday loss to Phoenix. Biedrins has been a surprise fantasy contributor with 13.0 ppg and 11.8 rpg. in 2008 and missed just one of the team's 51 games. But this looks like a long recovery as he had to be carried of the court by his teammates. Ronny Turiaf got the additional minutes and posted a solid 11 points and nine boards in 28 minutes and may be able to hold up for a short period of time as a replacement.
Point guard Luke Ridnour, Milwaukee, broke the thumb on his right hand and will be lost to the Bucks for about four weeks. The team is now without both backcourt starters as Michael Redd went down for the season just two weeks ago. As the team's best remaining guard, Ramon Sessions should be a very good fantasy contributor for the next month. If he's available put in your bid right away.
