Description: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks according to nhl.com.
Insight: Chara tore his posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Thursday night versus the Islanders. Even at age 37, he is a huge part of the Bruins and his fantasy teams' defense. Chara will be greatly missed.
Description: Bruins winger Milan Lucic scored his first goal of the season on Thursday against the Islanders.
Insight: Lucic has had a rough start to the season, but he finally got rid of the goose egg in the goal column. The goal, however, did not help the Bruins win as Boston dropped its fifth game of the young season.
Description: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara left Thursday's game against the Islanders with an undisclosed injury.
Insight: Chara left with 8:13 remaining in the first period, which was right after the captain nailed John Tavares. There was nothing noticably wrong on the replay. Chara has two goals, one assist and a minus-two rating after nine games.
Description: Bruins winger Milan Lucic busted out of his early-season slump in Tueaday's win.
Insight: He has yet to score a goal, but Lucic did have three assists, along with a +1 rating. He now has five points on the season, and owners should expect him to start lighting the lamp extremely soon.
Description: Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton had a goal and assist on Saturday against the Sabres.

Description: Bruins winger Loui Erksson scored in the 2-1 loss to the Avalanche on Columbus Day.
Insight: It was Eriksson's first goal of the season as he tied the game on the power play at the 7:50 mark of the second period. Boston, however, suffered a heart-breaking loss, allowing the game-winner inside of one second left in the third period.
Description: Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk scored his team's first goal of the season and his first as an Islander as New York beat Carolina, 5-3, on Friday.
Insight: The Bruins just traded Boychuk last week, but he did not seem effected by the lack of practice time with his new teammates. Boychuk had assists on the next two Islanders' goals. Two of Boychuks' three points in the game came on the power play.
Description: Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask is starting on Thursday against the Red Wings.
Insight: The Bruins begin the season with back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday this week, but Boston will have its Vezina trophy winning goalie between the pipes for both games. Rask stopped 19-of-20 shots against the Flyers on Wednesday.
Description: Bruins left wing Brad Marchand should continue to be a solid fantasy contributer in 2014-15.

Description: Bruins winger Loui Erksson will start the season on the top line for Boston.
Insight: From the 2008-09 season through 2011-12, Eriksson compiled at least 63 points each year. However, after playing in only 61 games during his first season in Boston, he was only able to manage 10 goals and 27 assists, with a +14 rating. Playing on the top line will give Eriksson a nice chance to get back to the 70-point mark. Look to target him around the 13th round.
Description: Bruins center David Krejci is ready for a career-year in 2014-15.
Insight: Fresh off a six-year, $43.5 million extension, Krejci will be centering Boston's top line this season. Coming off a 62-point season (19 goals, 50 assists), he will be a solid target starting around the seventh round of fantasy drafts.
Description: Milan Lucic is hoping for a long-term commitment from the Boston Bruins.
Insight: After commitments to David Krejci, Tuuka Rask, and Patrice Bergeron, Lucic would seem to be next in line. At 26-years-old, he is just entering his prime, and will have a tremndous opportunity to build off his big 2013 season (23 goals, 35 assists, 30+/-). Target Lucic in the middle of your draft.
Description: Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has been awarded the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender for the 2013-14 season.
Insight: Boston goalies have taken three of the last six Vezina trophies. Rask was certainly deserving of the honor, winning 36 games for the B's this year while logging an impressive 2.04 GAA. Only Minnesota's Josh Harding (.933) had a higher save percentage than Rask (.930) during the regular season.
Description: Boston goalie Tuukka Rask stopped all 33 shots for his second shutout of the postseason Thursday against Montreal.
Insight: Just another playoff masterpiece from one of the best goaltenders in hockey. The Bruins desperately needed this game and Rask is a huge reason why they were able to escape Montreal with a 2-2 series split. Game 5 will be Saturday at TD Garden.
Description: Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has produced a point in seven straight games this postseason.
Insight: If not for a goose egg in Game 1 of the first round against the Red Wings, Bergeron would have a 21-game points streak, as he ended the regular season with at least one point in his final 13 games. He scored a goal Tuesday against the Canadiens but Boston lost to fall behind 2-1 in the series.
Description: Bruins left wing Brad Marchand handed out two assists Saturday in a victory over Montreal.
Insight: He also had two assists in Game 1. Marchand actually didn't have a shot on goal in this game, the first time that's happened to him since March 12th. The series is tied at one heading into Tuesday's Game 3 at Montreal.
Description: Milan Lucic had a goal and an assist Saturday in Boston's series-clinching win over the Red Wings.
Insight: He finished with three goals in the series. Next up for the B's is Montreal. That could spell trouble as Boston went just 1-2-1 against the Canadiens during the regular season. Then again, the Bruins were 1-3 against Detroit during the regular season and they won that series easily.
Description: Boston goalie Tuukka Rask led the league with seven shutouts in 2013-14. He went 36-15-6 with a 2.04 GAA and a .930 SV% and should be a finalist for the Vezina Trophy.
Insight: Rask benefited from having one of the NHL's best possession teams in front of him and had to make just 1,526 saves, 14th-most in the NHL and 341 behind leader Semyon Varlamov. That may hurt him in the Vezina competition. Still, it was another excellent season for the 27-year-old.
Description: The Bruins made Milan Lucic a healthy scratch for the regular season finale Sunday
Insight: The Bruins rested Lucic, David Krejci, Patrice Bergeron, Jarome Iginla and Zdeno Chara to get them ready for the playoffs. Lucic will end up with 24 goals, 35 assists, 91 penalty minutes, 153 shots on goal and a +30 differential.
Description: Boston center Patrice Bergeron's undisclosed injury was deemed "very minor" by coach Claude Julien. SOURCE: Bruins on Twitter.
Insight: Bergeron didn't play in the season finale Sunday after sitting out some of Saturday's game. He'll finish the regular season with 30 goals, 32 assists, 243 SOG, 43 PIM and a +38 rating and should be ready for the playoffs.
Description: David Krejci helped Boston clinch the President's Trophy by delivering two goals Saturday in a 4-1 win over Buffalo.
Insight: It's the team's first President's Trophy since 1989-90 when Ray Bourque and Cam Neely were running things in Beantown. Krejci is in the midst of his best season as a professional with a team-high 69 points in 80 appearances.
Description: Boston left wing Milan Lucic had two goals and one assist Saturday against the Flyers.
Insight: The 25-year-old Lucic (24 G, 34 A) is two points shy of his third season with at least 60 points. With 87 PIM, a +30 differential and 148 SOG, Lucic has been a top-50 fantasy option this season.
Description: Bruins right wing Jarome Iginla is questionable for Thursday's game against Toronto due to a lower body injury.
Insight: He skated in the morning session. He's put up 30 goals and 31 assists this season, the 12th time he's reached that threshold in his career. Add in 197 SOG and 14 power play points and you have an excellent fantasy value, even at 36-years-old.
Description: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara scored a goal Sunday at Philadelphia.
Insight: Chara has recorded nine points in his last 12 games and 36 in 72 games this season. He has had at least 41 points in each of his last eight full seasons but probably won't get there in 2013-14.
Description: Boston goalie Tuukka Rask made a season-high 49 saves Sunday in a win over Philadelphia.
Insight: What a performance by the 27-year-old netminder. With the win, the Bruins are now 15-0-1 in their last 16 games. They're easily in first place in the Atlantic Division (17 points ahead of Montreal) with seven games left.
Description: Bruins right wing Jarome Iginla tallied two goals Saturday in a win over Washington.
Insight: He's up to 30 goals on the season, the 12th time he's reached that threshold in his career. The fact that Iginla is still scoring at this rate in his late 30s is pretty remarkable. He'll be back in action later this afternoon against Philadelphia.
Description: Boston center Patrice Bergeron lit the lamp twice Thursday against the Blackhawks in a rematch of last season's Stanley Cup Finals.
Insight: Bergeron, if you remember, was admitted the the hospital after Boston's Game 6 loss to Chicago after suffering torn rib cartilage, a broken rib, a separated right shoulder and a punctured left lung over the final three games of the series. He's much healthier now and has scored a goal in five consecutive games. Bergeron has 25 goals, 28 assists and an NHL-leading +38 rating this season.
Description: Boston center Patrice Bergeron scored a goal for the third straight game Saturday at Phoenix.
Insight: Bergeron (22 G, 28 A) reached 50 points for the sixth time in his career Saturday. His +36 rating leads the NHL (teammates David Krejci and Jarome Iginla are second and third with a +35 and +32, respectively).
Description: Bruins right winger Jarome Iginla scored a goal Thursday against Phoenix.
Insight: Iginla has generated a point in three straight games and 21 over his last 17 games. The 36-year-old is still a trusted fantasy option, registering 21 goals, 30 assists, 40 PIM, 176 SOG and a +25 rating in 66 games.
Description: Bruins defenseman Torey Krug missed his first game of the season Thursday.
Insight: No injury; Krug (13 G, 22 A) was a healthy scratch as the team wanted to get Dougie Hamilton back in the lineup. Boston created a logjam on defense when it acquired Andrej Meszaros from the Flyers at the trade deadline.
Description: Boston center Patrice Bergeron has collected two goals and three assists his last two games.
Insight: Bergeron is once again atop the leaderboard for +/- with a +32 rating, tied with Matt Niskanen of the Penguins. He had a goal, an assist and three SOG Wednesday at Montreal, bringing him to 45 points in 65 games.
Description: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara's goal on Wednesday gave him a point in two straight games.
Insight: Chara didn't have a point in his first five games of March. The 36-year-old has just 29 points this season and will end up with his lowest point total for a full season since he had 23 in 2001-02 unless he goes off in Boston's last 17 games.
Description: Boston winger Daniel Paille is questionable for Wednesday's game against Montreal due to an upper body injury.
Insight: Paille was sent back into the boards by Florida's Ed Jovanovski. Paille has never scored more than 35 points in a season and this season is no different. He's got nine goals and seven assists in 57 games.
Description: Bruins left wing Loui Eriksson will not play Tuesday, according to Joe Haggerty of csnne.com.
Insight: Coach Claude Julien said that Eriksson is dealing with a "minor issue" and should be back Thursday. The trade deadline is Wednesday, so Boston may be holding the 28-year-old out for a potential deal.
Description: Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid (leg) was expected to return after the break, but apparently suffered a setback and is not ready to go, according to beat writer Amalie Benjamin.
Insight: McQuaid's injury hasn't changed any fantasy lineups as his value is limited by his lack of offensive skills (six points in 30 games). His only value would be in his accumulation of penalty minutes (69).
Description: Boston goalie Tuukka Rask was given a day off to rest from his Olympic efforts, but should be back between the pipes for Saturday's game against Washington.
Insight: Rask led Finland to a bronze medal. He's been a workhorse for the Bruins this season going 25-13-4 with a 2.11 GAA and .928 SV%. The team may lighten his load in the second half of the season to prepare for the playoff run.
Description: Bruins goalie Chad Johnson will start Wednesday against the Sabres.
Insight: Tuukka Rask will get a rest after leading Finland to a bronze medal in the Sochi Olympics. Johnson (11-3-0, 2.13 GAA, .924 SV%) will get Buffalo in the second game of a back-to-back and could be a nice one-day option.
Description: Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid is not expected to return from a leg injury until after the Olympic break.
Insight: McQuaid's injury hasn't changed any fantasy lineups as his value is limited by his lack of offensive skills (six points in 30 games). His only value would be in his accumulation of penalty minutes (69).
Description: Jarome Iginla's assist to Milan Lucic in the first period Tuesday against the Canucks was the 600th of his career.
Insight: That ties Iginla with Martin St. Louis for 77th all-time. The Bruins right wing scored a goal of his own in the second period to put Boston up 2-0. Iginla led the team with five shots on goal.
Description: Chad Johnson (no, not the football player) earned his first shutout of the season Saturday in a win against the Oilers.
Insight: The Bruins netminder collected 22 saves in the victory. Tuukka Rask fantasy owners have to be sweating a bit now that Johnson has played three of the last four games for Boston. It will be interesting to see who gets the start Tuesday against Vancouver.
Description: Bruins center David Krejci racked up three points Tuesday in a blowout win over Florida.
Insight: Krejci finished the game with one goal and two assists. He's collected seven points (one goal, six assists) during Boston's four-game winning streak. The B's have outscored their opponents 21-8 over that stretch.
Description: Milan Lucic tormented his former teammate Tim Thomas Tuesday in a 6-2 Bruins victory.
Insight: Lucic (14 goals, 18 assists) scored twice and finished the evening with a +4 rating. Boston is currently seeded second in the Eastern Conference. They trail Pittsburgh by six points with five games left until the Olympic Break.
Description: Brad Marchand paced the Bruins with a goal and three assists Monday against the Islanders.
Insight: He's up to ten points in his last five games (six goals, four assists). It's no coincidence that Boston has gone 4-0-1 during that stretch. Marchand (17 goals, 16 assists) is quickly approaching must-start fantasy status.
Description: Edmonton defenseman Andrew Ference will not play on Sunday after suffering a head injury Friday night, according to an Edmonton Journal report.
Insight: Ference missed Saturday's practice. Not a big scorer, Ference has posted solid plus-minus numbers for the past three seasons, but this year is stuck with 10 points and a -6 rating in 53 games.
Description: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara's two goals Saturday were his first two since Dec. 17.
Insight: Chara is now tied with Dustin Byfuglien and teammate Torey Krug for third among defensemen with 11 goals. However, he only has 10 assists and 109 SOG in 49 games. Anyone who paid for the 45-point, 200-shot blueliner Chara was from 2004 to 2012 has been disappointed.
Description: Bruins winger Brad Marchand had two goals for the second straight game Monday against the Kings.
Insight: Marchand has put the puck in the net in four straight games while scoring six goals in that span. He's attempting to make up for a lackluster first 45 games of the season in which he had just 21 points (10 goals).
Description: Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid is doubtful for Monday's game against Los Angeles with an undisclosed injury.
Insight: McQuaid's injury won't change any fantasy lineups as his value is limited by his lack of offensive skills (six points in 30 games). His only value would be in his accumulation of penalty minutes (69).
Description: Brad Marchand scored both Boston goals Sunday in a shootout loss to Chicago.
Insight: Though it won't count toward his season total, Marchand did score on his only attempt of the shootout period. Marchand has followed up a four-game scoreless drought with goals in each of his last three contests.
Description: Bruins left wing Shawn Thornton is finished with his 15-game suspension and should be available Saturday.
Insight: Thornton was banned for hitting Brooks Orpik after the whistle in a game. Playing on the fourth line, he hasn't been a productive fantasy player this season, tallying just three goals in 27 contests.
Description: Boston left wing Milan Lucic won't be available for Tuesday night's game in Anaheim. SOURCE: Jamie Erdahl, NESN
Insight: He's out with an illness. It's the first game Lucic has missed this season and just his seventh absence since the start of the 2010-11 campaign. He's third on the team in scoring with 30 points in 42 games.
Description: Bruins defenseman Torey Krug notched two goals in Saturday's win over Winnipeg.
Insight: It's only the second multi-goal effort of Krug's career. He's tied with Erik Karlsson and Shea Weber for the league-lead in goals by a defenseman (ten each). Teammate Zdeno Chara is fourth with nine goals in 41 contests.
Description: Boston defenseman Torey Krug participated in warmups and should play Saturday, according to Amanda Bruno of masslive.com.
Insight: Krug missed the last four minutes of Thursday's game and sat out Friday's practice for maintenance due to an undisclosed injury. The 22-year-old is tied for fourth among blueliners with eight goals.
Description: Boston goalie Biklas Svedberg picked up a 3-2 overtime win in his NHL debut Thursday against Nashville.
Insight: The 24-year-old Svedberg had a tremendous 2012-13 season with Providence, putting up a 2.17 GAA and a .925 SV%, but he slipped to 2.87 and .909 in 22 games this season. As long as Tuukka Rask is healthy and Chad Johnson is still on the roster, Svedberg won't play enough to be a fantasy option.
Description: Bruins left wing Shawn Thornton won't appeal his 15-game suspension. He'll be out until January 11th. SOURCE: Amalie Benjamin, Boston Globe
Insight: Thornton was banned for hitting Brooks Orpik after the whistle in a game earlier this month. Thornton's first appeal was denied and he had been considering a second appeal with a neutral arbitrator but at this point it's probably easier for him to just accept his suspension and move on. He hasn't been a productive fantasy player this season, tallying just three goals in 27 contests.
Description: Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg has a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season, according to bruins.nhl.com.
Insight: Seidenberg will require 6-8 months of recovery, Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said. The defenseman suffered the injury Friday against Ottawa and is a much bigger loss to Boston than fantasy owners.
Description: Boston goalie Tuukka Rask turned aside 33 shots in Friday's 5-0 win over Ottawa.
Insight: The shutout was Rask's fourth of the season. It was also Rask's fourth win in a row. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more consistent netminder in hockey than the one between Boston's pipes right now. Rask is a must-start.
Description: Boston left wing Brad Marchand had two goals on five shots Thursday at Buffalo.
Insight: Marchand's production has really dipped this season as he has scored seven goals with 16 points in 35 games, a pace of 16 goals and 37 points per 82 games. He had 18 points and 36 points in 45 games last season.
Description: Bruins backup netminder Chad Johnson will start Thursday's game at Buffalo.
Insight: Johnson will be making his eighth start and ninth appearance of the year. He's 6-1-0 with a 2.17 GAA and a .921 SV%. Tuukka Rask, who shut out Calgary Tuesday, should be back between the pipes for Saturday's game, also against the Sabres.
Description: According to the Boston Herald, Bruins forward Loui Eriksson is still experiencing concussion symptoms.
Insight: Eriksson suffered his second concussion in 45 days on Dec. 7. "We’re careful with that," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said. "I talked to Loui a little bit (Monday). He’s coming along, but he’s still experiencing symptoms. With that type of injury, you see slow improvements, and that’s what Loui is going through right now. So I don’t know what the time period would be."
Description: Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask held Calgary scoreless Tuesday night in Boston.
Insight: He saved all 21 shots that came his way. It was a nice bounceback effort from Rask after getting pulled Saturday against Vancouver. He's having another excellent season and should be starting in all formats.
Description: Bruins right wing Jarome Iginla was back on the ice Tuesday just three days after dislocating his left ring finger. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet New England
Insight: Tuesday's game has added meaning for Iginla because it's against Calgary, the team he played his first 15 seasons with. Even in his mid-30s, Iginla continues to be a solid fantasy contributor with 19 points in 33 games this season.
Description: Boston winger Reilly Smith had two goals Saturday at Vancouver.
Insight: That gives the 22-year-old four goals and six points over ihs last five games. Loui Eriksson was the big piece of the Tyler Seguin trade with Dallas, but Smith is third on the Bruins with 23 points while Eriksson has been limited to 24 games and 14 points by multiple concussions.
Description: Jarome Iginla is questionable for Tuesday's game against Calgary dislocated left ring finger.
Insight: Iginla has always been a points producer and this year is no different (8 G, 11 A). If he's ready to go you start him, but you will have to check back on Tuesday to verify that he's in uniform.
Description: Boston left wing Shawn Thornton has been given a 15-game suspension for attacking Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik in a game last week. SOURCE: Darren Dreger, TSN
Insight: Thornton knocked Orpik unconscious and also gave him a concussion. Thornton has already begun serving the ban and will be eligible to return in mid-January. He hasn't been a factor in fantasy this season anyway (three goals in 27 games).
Description: Boston winger Daniel Paille is out for Thursday's game against Edmonton due to an upper body injury.
Insight: Paille was sent back to Boston to be checked out further. He isn't much of a fantasy value as he hasn't cracked the 16-point mark over the past two seasons. He's got three goals and two assists in 30 games this season.
Description: Bruins left wing Milan Lucic scored two goals and spent five minutes in the penalty box Saturday against the Blue Jackets.
Insight: Lucic has 10 goals and 20 points in 28 games after scoring just seven goals with 27 points in 46 last season. However, he has 21 PIM this season after averaging 1.48 penalty minutes per game over his first six seasons. His newfound discipline has hurt his fantasy value.
Description: Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, out with a lower body injury for the past four games, could be ready to go Friday against Boston.
Insight: Seidenberg has six points, all assists, in 21 games this season, but does provide a solid +10 rating for fantasy owners. The team sent defenseman Kevan Miller back to the minors which may be a strong indication that Seidenberg is ready to get back on the ice.
Description: Boston netminder Tuukka Rask tied a career-high with 43 saves in Tuesday night's 2-1 win over the Rangers.
Insight: Rask dominated New York in the playoffs last season and he was at it again Tuesday night at MSG. For the season, Rask is 12-5-1 with a career-best 1.61 GAA (third-lowest in the NHL) in 18 appearances.
Description: Bruins backup netminder Chad Johnson was reported by Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record to be the starter for Tuesday's game at New York, but Tuukka Rask ended up starting and making 43 saves on 44 shots in a 2-1 win.
Insight: Johnson has made just three starts this season and is 2-1-0 with a 2.30 GAA and a .917 SV%. He isn't a fantasy factor.
Description: Boston center Patrice Bergeron tormented the Leafs in last year's postseason and he did it again Saturday night at TD Garden.
Insight: Bergeron snapped a four-game scoreless streak by netting two goals as the Bruins cruised to a 3-1 victory. If you recall, Bergeron led a three-goal comeback in the third period of Game 7 against Toronto last May. Boston would go on to lose to the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals, four games to two.
Description: Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid hurt his right leg eight minutes into the first period Saturday against Toronto. The injury will keep him out for the rest of the game. SOURCE: Jamie Erdahl, NESN
Insight: Perhaps he injured it during his fight with Maple Leafs left wing Frazer McLaren. Until we know more, consider McQuaid day-to-day.
Description: Boston left wing Brad Marchand's goal Thursday against Florida was just his fifth point of the season.
Insight: Marchand produced 0.75 ppg over the previous two seasons, but he'll have to play catch-up to get there after a slow start. The winger has skated just over 15 minutes per game this season after playing 17 mpg last season.
Description: Boston's Torey Krug ranks second in the NHL among defensemen with five goals.
Insight: The 22-year-old blueliner came into Tuesday's game tied with five other blue-liners with four goals apiece. Krug scored one against Dallas, but Ottawa's Erik Karlsson scored a pair in his game. Five of Krug's eight points have come on the power play.
