Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia has gone 5-for-16 with two doubles, a homer and six RBI in five games since he returned from the disabled list.
Insight: The 23-year-old missed nearly four months due to a torn labrum after initially being ruled out for the season. Garcia is hitting .283 with three homers, 10 RBI and an .868 OPS in 46 at-bats this season.
Jose Abreu, 1B 8/19/2014 11:17:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu hit his first home run this month Tuesday against Baltimore.
Insight: Abreu hit at least five homers in every month this season, including May when he missed two weeks with an ankle injury. He's going to need to go on quite a tear to hit five in August. He still has 32 homers, 90 RBI, a .303 average and a .956 OPS this season.
Conor Gillaspie, 3B8/17/2014 7:06:00 PM
Description: Chicago third baseman Conor Gillaspie has quietly put together a very good season and fantasy ought to be paying more attention to his efforts.
Insight: Gillaspie went 1-for-4 with a grand slam to raise his RBI total to 46. He's batting .311 with 46 runs scored in 97 games.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B8/16/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is not in Saturday's lineup against the Blue Jays.
Insight: Dunn has gone 7-for-15 with a double, two homers and five RBI in his last four games, but he's just 8-for-52 (.154) against lefties this season and he'll take a seat against Mark Buehrle. Paul Konerko is DHing.
Avisail Garcia, RF8/16/2014 3:35:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia (torn labrum) has been activated from the 60-day disabled list.
Insight: Garcia was ruled out for the season in April when he suffered a torn labrum, but he's recovered from surgery more quickly than expected. Garcia is still just 23 years old and could be a decent AL-only option down the stretch.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B8/13/2014 6:35:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has homered in two straight games.
Insight: Dunn has six hits in his last 40 at-bats; four left the yard. He's hitting .222 with 19 homers, 47 RBI, 41 runs and a .788 OPS, not fantasy-worthy numbers in most leagues.
Matt Lindstrom, RP8/12/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: White Sox closer Matt Lindstrom (ankle) has been activated from the disabled list.
Insight: Lindstrom suffered a torn tendon sheath in his ankle on May 19 and had to undergo surgery. Ronald Belisario was a horror show as the closer, but Jeff Petricka has been good since he took over the job. Lindstrom will probably have to earn the job back.
Adam Eaton, CF8/6/2014 3:46:00 PM
Description: White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton suffered a bruised lower back when he collided with the outfield wall on Wednesday, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Eaton ran face-first into the chain-link fence in right-center field while running full speed after Adam Rosales' homer. He was able to leave under his own power.

Description: Chicago outfielder Alejandro De Aza (knee) is in the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.
Insight: He sat out Tuesday with a knee bruise. De Aza's average has dropped for a third straight season and he's on pace for fewer homers, RBI and runs than he had in 2013. Fantasy owners can avoid him.
Alejandro De Aza, OF8/5/2014 5:38:00 PM
Description: Chicago outfielder Alejandro De Aza left Monday's game with a left knee bruise and he's out of the lineup Tuesday.
Insight: De Aza's average has dropped for a third straight season and he's on pace for fewer homers, RBI and runs than he had in 2013. Fantasy owners can avoid him.
Andy Wilkins, 1B8/2/2014 11:56:00 AM
Description: White Sox 1B prospect Andy Wilkins is tearing it up at Triple-A Charlotte, batting .290 with 26 HR, 70 RBI and an .889 OPS.
Insight: That's the good news. The bad news is he's got Jose Abreu (.310, 31 HR, 84 RBI) in front of him. We hope Wilkins learns how to play another position, perhaps third base, or else he's not going to see much playing time with the big club,
Tyler Flowers, CHot8/1/2014 4:39:00 PM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers is batting .438 with a 1.142 OPS over the past nine games.
Insight: Flowers is batting .244 this season with six homers, but could be worth a flier in the short-term.

Description: White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton went 3-for-5 with two RBI, two runs and a steal Thursday at Detroit.

Adam Dunn, DH/1B7/30/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has gone 1-for-4 with a solo homer in each of the past two days.
Insight: Dunn still has good power, but he's no longer the 40-homer threat he used to be. He's on pace for 26 home runs, 66 RBI and 59 runs this season.
Avisail Garcia, RF7/30/2014 5:15:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia (torn labrum) will begin a rehab assignment Friday, according to Dan Hayes of csnchicago.com.
Insight: Garcia was ruled out for the season in April when he suffered a torn labrum, but he's recovered from surgery more quickly than expected. Garcia is still just 23 years old and could be a decent AL-only option down the stretch.
Nate Jones, RP7/30/2014 5:05:00 PM
Description: Chicago right-hander Nate Jones, who has been out since April due to a lower back injury, underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. SOURCE: Dan Hayes, csnchicago.com
Insight: Jones was expected to compete for the closer role this season, but he missed most of spring training and has been out since the first week of the season due to his back injury. The torn UCL may keep him out for all of 2015 as well.
Alexei Ramirez, SS7/30/2014 12:31:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez has picked up just six hits in 51 career at-bats against Tigers starter Max Scherzer, a .118 average.
Insight: Ramirez is 10-for-30 with two homers, eight RBI and two steals in his last seven games, but he's not a good option Wednesday.
Dayan Viciedo, RF 7/30/2014 12:29:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo has done well against Tigers starter Max Scherzer.
Insight: Viciedo is 9-for-29 (.310) with three doubles, a triple and two homers against the 2013 AL Cy Young Award winner. He could be a decent fantasy option Wednesday.
Adam Eaton, CFHot7/29/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton has hit .340 with nine doubles, four triples, 18 runs and five steals in his last 37 games.

Matt Lindstrom, RP7/29/2014 9:20:00 PM
Description: White Sox closer Matt Lindstrom (ankle) may need only two or three minor league rehab appearances before returning so he could be back late next week, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Lindstrom suffered a torn tendon sheath in his ankle on May 19 and had to undergo surgery. Manager Robin Ventura said that Lindstrom probably won't go on a rehab assignment until Friday at the earliest. Ronald Belisario and Zach Putnam followed Lindstrom as Chicago's closer and Jeff Petricka has been getting save chances since Putnam went on the DL.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B7/29/2014 9:36:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has faced Anibal Sanchez 36 times and struck out 16 of them without going deep.
Insight: Dunn's .229 batting average is actually his best since 2010, but he's still an all-or-nothing hitter with 15 homers and 108 strikeouts in 292 at-bats. Avoid this matchup.
Alexei Ramirez, SS7/26/2014 10:09:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer Saturday to give him homers on back-to-back games for the first time since Aug 2012.
Insight: Ramirez has three consective two-hit games to raise his batting average to.285 with 46 RBI and 51 runs scored. He's become a solid fantasy shortstop option.
Chris Sale, SPHot7/26/2014 10:05:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Chris Sale shut out the Twins for eight innings giving up just five hits and striking out 12.
Insight: He's now 10-1 on the season with a 1.88 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 122 strikeouts in 110 innings. That's as good as any pitcher in baseball.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot7/25/2014 11:06:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu became the first player in baseball to reach 30 homers this season Friday night.
Insight: Abreu went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs at Minnesota. He's hit safely in a remarkable 33 of his last 34 games.
Alexei Ramirez, SS7/25/2014 11:03:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three runs Friday at Minnesota.

Moises Sierra, CF7/24/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: White Sox outfielder Moises Sierra is a career .500 hitter (8-for-16) against Minnesota starter Phil Hughes.
Insight: Sierra doesn't play every day, so fantasy owners will need to check the starting lineup before considering him, but he is batting .333 over the past two weeks and has a favorable matchup.
Jose Quintana, SPHot7/23/2014 7:50:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana tossed seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits Wednesday against Kansas City.
Insight: Quintana hasn't won since June 29 despite recording a 2.02 ERA in his last four starts. He's 5-7 with a 3.15 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and 118 Ks in 131 1/3 innings this season.
Dayan Viciedo, RFCold7/23/2014 3:41:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo is dealing with tightness in his left hamstring.
Insight: Viciedo was scratched from Wednesday's lineup. He's gone 5-for-45 (.111) with 16 Ks over his last 11 games. His absence allowed Moises Sierra to get a start Wednesday.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B7/23/2014 12:17:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn went deep for the 15th time this season Tuesday, but he doesn't have good numbers against Royals starter James Shields.
Insight: Dunn (.227) is 6-for-32 (.188) with 14 Ks against Shields, Wednesday's scheduled starter.
Alexei Ramirez, SS 7/23/2014 12:15:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez has batted .417 in his career against Royals starter James Shields.
Insight: Ramirez has gone 20-for-48 (.417) with a double, a triple and two home runs against Shields. Give him a try Wednesday.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot7/22/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is out of the lineup Tuesday due to back stiffness, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Insight: The injury is considered minor. Abreu is available to pinch-hit Tuesday and is expected back Wednesday. The first baseman has hit safely in 30 of his last 31 games.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B7/22/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is not a high-average hitter nor very good against left-handers, but he's a career .333 hitter (8-for-24) with a pair of long balls versus Royals southpaw Bruce Chen.
Insight: Dunn has hit .223 with 14 homers, 39 RBI this season, but just .152 with one home run against left-handers, This matchup goes against everything we know about Dunn.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B7/19/2014 6:46:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is not in Saturday's starting lineup versus left-hander Dallas Keuchel.
Insight: Dunn has hit .225 with 14 homers, 36 RBI, 33 runs and an .798 OPS, predictable numbers for the big DH.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B7/18/2014 12:16:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is 2-for-17 (.118) against Houston starter Scott Feldman.
Insight: Dunn has hit .224 with 14 homers, 36 RBI, 33 runs and an .798 OPS, predictable numbers for the big DH. Avoid him Friday.
John Danks, SP7/13/2014 4:49:00 PM
Description: With seven innings of one-run ball Sunday against the Indians Chicago left-hander John Danks dropped his ERA below 4.00 for the first time since April 26.
Insight: Danks is over the shoulder troubles he dealt with in 2012 and 2013. He's gone 5-2 with a 2.69 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP over his last 67 innings after starting out 3-4 with a 5.64 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP in his first 52 2/3.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot7/13/2014 4:33:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will go into the All-Star break with 29 homers, 73 RBI and a .292 batting average.

Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez (back) is not in the lineup Sunday.

Jose Abreu, 1BHot7/12/2014 7:29:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is the MLB leader with 29 home runs and knocked in his 73 rd Saturday afternoon.
Insight: Abreu is going to put up numbers in his first year that few fantasy experts predicted. He's on pace for 50 HR and 125 RBI.
Alexei Ramirez, SS7/12/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez left Saturday's game for a pinch runner in the fourth inning.
Insight: It appears to be a back issue. His hot April (.351) and May (.305) is a thing of the past as he hit just .230 in 24 June and .178 in 11 July games.
Adam Eaton, CF7/12/2014 2:59:00 PM
Description: White Sox outfielder and leadoff man Adam Eaton is not in Saturday's starting lineup while he deals with a sore wrist and ankle.
Insight: Eaton (.270, 1 HR, 25 RBI, 42 runs) doesn't offer much to fantasy owners.
Gordon Beckham, 2BCold7/11/2014 9:54:00 AM
Description: White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham is just 1-for-13 (.077) against Cleveland right-hander Corey Kluber.
Insight: Beckham put together a good May (.306, 4 HR, 10 RBI, .810 OPS), but has since fallen off the map batting just .194 in 36 games from June 1 to July 10.
Paul Konerko, 1B7/10/2014 9:37:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Paul Konerko is a career 10-for-28 (.357) with three home runs and a 1.223 OPS versus Boston left-hander Jon Lester.
Insight: Konerko doesn't get many opportunities to start, but this could be one of them. He's batting just .228 with five homers and 19 RBI in 123 at-bats.
Chris Sale, SPHot7/9/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Chris Sale took a shutout into the eighth inning and left with a 4-1 lead Wednesday at Boston, but the White Sox bullpen gave away the game in the final 1 1/3 innings. Sale allowed four hits and one run, struck out six and walked none in 7 2/3 innings.
Insight: Chicago hasn't been able to solve its closing situation, which makes it all the more amazing that Sale is 8-1. The left-hander has a 2.08 ERA, a 0.84 WHIP and a 102/16 K/BB in 95 innings this season.
Conor Gillaspie, 3BHot7/9/2014 10:23:00 PM
Description: Chicago third baseman Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer Wednesday at Boston.
Insight: Gillaspie has finally started to hit for some pop after failing to hit one out of the park in his first 59 games. He's hit three in his last six games and is now batting .320 with 21 doubles, three triples, 33 RBI, 32 runs and an .835 OPS in 247 at-bats.
Conor Gillaspie, 3B7/8/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Chicago third baseman Conor Gillaspie went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBI and two runs Tuesday at Boston.
Insight: Gillaspie has homered twice in his past six games after failing to go deep in the first three months of the season. He's hitting .317 with an .816 OPS in 243 at-bats.
Paul Konerko, 1B7/7/2014 3:43:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Paul Konerko is a career 7-for-15 (.467) with a 1.263 OPS versus Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Considering Adam Dunn is 0-for-7 against Buchholz, it should be an easy decision for manager Robin Ventura. Update: Konerko is not in the starting lineup.
Paul Konerko, 1B7/7/2014 11:02:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Paul Konerko is a career 7-for-15 (.467) with a 1.263 OPS versus Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Considering Adam Dunn is 0-for-7 against Buchholz, it should be an easy decision for manager Robin Ventura.
Conor Gillaspie, 3B7/6/2014 4:14:00 PM
Description: Chicago third baseman Conor Gillaspie took a pitch off his right knee and was forced to leave Sunday's game.
Insight: Gillaspie still has just one home run, but he's batting .310 in 239 at-bats. His average doesn't make up for the lack of power and speed (zero SB) and he has little fantasy value.
Jose Quintana, SPHot7/5/2014 7:06:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana got the best of Seattle ace Felix Hernandez, going 7 2/3 IP yielding four hits and a walk without a run.
Insight: Quintana bullpen let him and the White Sox down as they gave up two ninth inning runs to tie the game and the game-winning run in the 14th inning.
Jose Quintana, SPHot7/5/2014 11:31:00 AM
Description: Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana is nearly as hot as Seattle ace Felix Hernandez entering their Saturday afternoon showdown at U.S. Cellular Field.
Insight: Quintana and King Felix both enter with ERAs below 1.30 in their last three starts. Quintana has thrown seven innings in each of his previous three outings, recording 21 strikeouts along the way. Current M's haven't had much success against the under-the-radar starter, either, so he's definitely a smart play.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot7/4/2014 9:46:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is now the MLB leader with 27 home runs and tied for the lead with 69 RBI.
Insight: Abreu had the lead in both categories when he went on the disabled list with ankle inflammation on May 18, and he's made up ground after being passed up while recovering. Since he returned from the DL, Abreu has hit 12 homers and driven in 27 runs in 29 games.
Dayan Viciedo, RFHot7/4/2014 9:44:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo went 4-for-4 and homered for the fourth time in his last seven games Friday against the Mariners.
Insight: Viciedo (.252, 10 HR, 30 RBI, .725 OPS) has put up a similar average and OPS to the past two seasons and is on pace for 19 home runs and 56 RBI.
Chris Sale, SPHot7/4/2014 9:40:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Chris Sale struck out 12 batters and didn't walk anyone in a complete-game 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners Friday.
Insight: Sale took a shutout into the ninth inning. The left-hander missed nearly five weeks earlier this season due to an elbow injury, but he has a strong case to make the All-Star team with an 8-1 record, 2.16 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 96/16 K/BB in 87 1/3 innings.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot7/1/2014 10:03:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu went 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI Tuesday against the Angels.
Insight: Abreu has kept up his prolific home run pace even after spending two weeks on the DL due to ankle tendinitis. He hit 10 homers in June and has 26 on the year after Tuesday's bomb. He's tied with Nelson Cruz for the MLB lead in homers.
Jose Quintana, SPHot6/29/2014 4:25:00 PM
Description: Chicago starter Jose Quintana fired seven scoreless innings Sunday at Toronto to lower his ERA to 3.44.
Insight: Quintana (5-7) has allowed three runs on 15 hits with 21 Ks in his last 21 innings. He's a solid low-level fantasy starter.
Zach Putnam, RP6/28/2014 7:50:00 PM
Description: White Sox right-hander Zach Putnam earned his first career save Saturday at Toronto.
Insight: Chicago manager Robin Ventura mercifully removed Ronald Belisario from the closer role following Friday's game, and Putnam appears to be the next man up. He gave up three hits and one run in his 1 1/3 innings Saturday and has a 2.30 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP this season.
Chris Sale, SPHot6/28/2014 7:46:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Chris Sale hasn't had his best stuff or command over his last three starts, but he's managed to make it work (2-0, 3.32 ERA)
Insight: Sale has allowed 23 hits and walked seven batters in his last 19 innings (1.58 WHIP). However, he still has a 2.30 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP in 78 1/3 innings this season. The left-hander has thrown at least 100 pitches in six straight starts, which is a good sign after he missed five weeks with an elbow injury.
Dayan Viciedo, RF6/28/2014 7:33:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo went deep for the second straight game Saturday at Toronto.
Insight: Viciedo hit a three-run shot in the seventh inning and also had a single. The 25-year-old has batted just .169 in June and .202 since the start of May.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B6/28/2014 7:31:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn reached base four times Saturday at Toronto, picking up two hits and walking twice.
Insight: Dunn has hit .237 with 12 homers, 33 RBI, 29 runs and an .817 OPS, predictable numbers for the big DH.
Alexei Ramirez, SS6/28/2014 11:10:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game with Toronto.
Insight: His hot April (.351) and May (.305) is a thing of the past as he's hit just .211 in 24 June games and probably needs the break.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot6/27/2014 10:12:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu clobbered a pair of homers Friday in a victory over the Blue Jays.
Insight: Abreu (.280, 25 HR, 63 RBI) is on pace for 50 homers despite missing two weeks with ankle tendinitis last month. He's been way better than advertised and could wind up being an MVP candidate. Fantasy owners who paid top dollar for Abreu on draft day have to be feeling pretty good about their investment.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B6/27/2014 10:27:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has done well over his career against the knuckleballing R.A. Dickey.
Insight: Dunn is 6-for-13 with two homers and a 1.423 OPS against Dickey. Its been another all-or-nothing season with Dunn, .229 batting average with 85 strikeouts along with 12 homers.
Adam Eaton, CF6/26/2014 8:16:00 PM
Description: Adam Eaton's leg cramped up, forcing him to leave Thursday's game against Toronto. SOURCE: Dan Hayes, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago
Insight: It doesn't sound like anything too serious. Eaton (.283, 1 HR, 22 RBI) went 0-for-1 before exiting, which means his hitting streak will end at 12 games.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B6/26/2014 9:34:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn should be firmly planted on your bench for Thursday's unfavorable matchup against J.A. Happ.
Insight: Dunn id 1-for-12 with four strikeouts against Happ. Dunn's .229 batting averahe is higher than the past three seasons, but he's still an all-or-nothing guy with 12 homers and 85 strikeouts.
Adam Dunn, DH/1B6/25/2014 11:14:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has struggled against Baltimore right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez throughout his career, notching just five hits in 32 at-bats (.156).
Insight: One of Dunn's five hits was a home run (no shock there) but he's struck out 19 times against the once-dominant right-hander. Dunn's average, however, is 71 points higher against right-handers this season and 11 of his 12 homers have come off righties. His OPS is also .875 on the road compared to .732 at home, so if you're feeling lucky, Dunn could surprise.
Jose Quintana, SP6/24/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Chicago starter Jose Quintana earned his first win in almost a month Tuesday against Baltimore.
Insight: Quintana held the Orioles to six hits and one earned run in seven innings of work. Despite a 4-7 record, Quintana owns a solid 3.69 ERA over 16 starts this season. His next start will come Sunday against Toronto.

Tyler Flowers, C6/21/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: Its just a routine day game after a night game off for the White Sox starter. Flowers is batting .244 this season with five homers. Adrian Nieto will make the start, but he's done little in his 51 at-bats to date.

Description: Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez is just 7-for-42 (.167) against Royals right-hander Jeremy Guthrie.

Alexei Ramirez, SS6/11/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez has picked up just 16 hits in 64 at-bats (.250) with two extra-base hits against Tigers starter Justin Verlander.
Insight: Ramirez is hitting .310 with seven homers and 12 steals this season and Verlander has struggled lately, but Ramirez' sample size against Verlander is relatively large and he hasn't done well.
Tyler Flowers, C6/10/2014 4:35:00 PM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game Detroit.
Insight: Flowers is batting .263 this season with a respectable .702 OPS with five homers. Adrian Nieto will make the start, but he's done little in his 46 at-bats to date.
Tyler Flowers, C6/9/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers is hit less in 10 at-bats against Tigers starter Rick Porcello.
Insight: Flowers is batting .267 this season with a respectable .710 OPS with five homers, but has an unfavorable matchup to be avoided.
Gordon Beckham, 2BHot6/9/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Chicago second baseman Gordon Beckham is a career .414 hitter (12-for-29) against Detroit right-hander Rick Porcello.
Insight: Beckham is hitting .288 for the season after a big May (.306) and has continued into June. Hot hitter plus favorable matchup equals must start.
Alexei Ramirez, SS6/8/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez has collected seven hits in 18 at-bats against Angels starter C.J. Wilson.
Insight: The righty-swinging Ramirez has been much better against right-handed pitchers than lefties this season, but he's been the opposite in previous years and will get to face Wilson Sunday. The shortstop hasn't tailed off after a hot start and is still batting .321 with seven homers, 36 RBI, 34 runs and 12 steals.
Adam Dunn, DH/1BHot6/7/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has homered in three straight games.
Insight: Dunn is very streaky and right now he's on the upswing. His numbers -- .234, 11 HR, 28 RBI, 22 R, .843 OPS -- are in line with what he usually does.
Paul Konerko, 1B6/3/2014 10:25:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Paul Konerko should get the nod over Adam Dunn on Tuesday against Dodgers starter Dan haren.
Insight: Adam Dunn is just 2-for-18 (.111) against the right-hander while Konerko is a career .381 hitter with a home run versus Haren (8-for-21). Jose Abreu is back from the disabled list so neither Dunn or Konerko has the option of playing at 1B.
Adam Dunn, DH/1BCold6/2/2014 7:01:00 PM
Description: The White Sox will give Adam Dunn the night off Monday against the Dodgers. SOURCE: Dan Hayes, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago
Insight: With no DH available in the National League, Dunn (.228, 8 HR, 23 RBI) probably won't see much playing time over the next few days. The free-swinger has just two hits in last 20 at bats.
Marcus Semien, 2B6/2/2014 6:26:00 PM
Description: The White Sox have sent infielder Marcus Semien down to Triple-A Charlotte.
Insight: Semien's fate was probably sealed as soon as Conor Gillaspie came off the disabled list. He played sparingly in May and only managed five hits over his final 24 at bats. The 23-year-old should get another shot at the majors later this season.
Jose Abreu, 1B6/2/2014 2:37:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (ankle) will return to the lineup Monday, according to Seth Gruen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Insight: Abreu was leading the AL in home runs and RBI two weeks ago when he went on the DL with ankle inflammation. He should pick up right where he left off, although tonight he faces two-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw.
Adam Dunn, 1B6/2/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Adam Dunn is a career .615 hitter (8-for-13) with two doubles, four homers and a 2.335 OPS against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
Insight: These results defy all logic. Dunn is a career .219 hitter against left-handers and Kershaw is one of the league's best. Yet the favorable statistics are there in black and white.
Chris Sale, SPHot6/1/2014 8:04:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander Chris Sale wasn't messing around Sunday against San Diego.
Insight: Sale limited the Friars to two hits and one run over nine impressive innings. He struck out nine without allowing a walk. Sale has been a machine this season, logging a 1.59 ERA over 45 1/3 innings. He hasn't lost a decision since September.
Jose Abreu, 1B6/1/2014 12:36:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup Monday, according to Seth Gruen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Insight: Abreu was leading the majors in homers and the AL in RBI when he went on the disabled list with ankle inflammation. He's now tied for fourth in baseball in homers and sixth in the AL in RBI.
Jose Abreu, 1B5/31/2014 1:14:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (ankle) played in a simulated game Saturday and is expected to do it again on Sunday.
Insight: If all goes well, Abreu could return to the White Sox lineup on Monday. Get ready to install him in your lineup next week.
Adam Dunn, 1B5/30/2014 10:01:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Adam Dunn has only faced Padres starter Ian Kennedy five times, but he's knocked out three extra-base hits, including a pair of homers.
Insight: Dunn has struggled of late, batting .174 with one homer over the past eight games, but the sight of Kennedy on the mound could perk him up.
Chris Sale, SP5/28/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: White Sox left-hander Chris Sale threw just three innings Tuesday night due to a two-hour rain delay.
Insight: Sale didn't allow a hit and is clearly in the zone since coming off the disabled list. In fact, in his last three starts going back to before he suffered his elbow injury, Sale has allowed just two hits and one run while striking out 24 batters in 16 innings.
Dayan Viciedo, RF5/27/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo is hitless in 17 at-bats against Cleveland starter Justinb Masterson with seven strikeouts.
Insight: Viciedo has hit just .223 in May, but he's batting .284 with 21 extra-base hits, 20 RBI and 27 runs on 183 at-bats this season. Avoid him on Tuesday.
Dayan Viciedo, RF5/26/2014 5:53:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo stroked his fifth home run of the season Monday against Cleveland.
Insight: Viciedo has hit just .223 in May, but he's batting .284 with 21 extra-base hits, 20 RBI and 27 runs on 183 at-bats this season.
Conor Gillaspie, 3BHot5/26/2014 5:51:00 PM
Description: Chicago third baseman Conor Gillaspie had four hits, including three doubles, Monday against Cleveland.
Insight: Gillaspie still has no home runs, but he's batting .352 in 122 at-bats. His average hasn't been lower than .302 at any point this season.
Gordon Beckham, 2B5/26/2014 7:20:00 AM
Description: Chicago second baseman Gordon Beckham has been hot of late, but faces a tough matchup in Indians starter Josh Tomlin.
Insight: Beckham is hitting .289 for the season and .323 in the month of May, but is 1-for-9 with four strikeouts against Tomlin over his career.
Ronald Belisario, RP5/25/2014 10:06:00 PM
Description: White Sox right-hander Ronald Belisario allowed six runs (five earned) in his first three save chances.
Insight: Chicago skipper Robin Ventura handed the closer role to Belisario when Matt Lindstrom suffered a torn tendon sheath in his ankle this past week, but he hasn't locked down the role. Ventura indicated after Belisario blew a save Saturday that the right-hander will remain the closer for now. Ventura hasn't been predictable in his closer decisions this season, so it's anyone's guess as to whether he'll go with Daniel Webb or Jake Petricka should Belisario falter again.
Gordon Beckham, 2B5/24/2014 8:18:00 PM
Description: Chicago second baseman Gordon Beckham went 3-for-4 Saturday in a loss to the Yankees.

Description: Chicago center fielder Adam Eaton crushed three hits in Saturday's loss to the Yankees.
Insight: Saturday was Eaton's second three-hit game of the season. He's done a nice job lately, hitting .345 in 32 at bats since making his return from the disabled list.
John Danks, SP5/24/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Chicago left-hander John Danks threw eight shutout innings Saturday against the Yankees.
Insight: Unfortunately New York scored three in the ninth to tie the score, costing Danks what would have been his fourth win of the season. Saturday's outing was a huge improvement for Danks, who allowed eight runs on ten hits versus Houston earlier this week. His next start is scheduled for Friday against the Padres.
Chris Sale, SP5/21/2014 11:30:00 PM
Description: White Sox left-hander Chris Sale (elbow) will return to the rotation Thursday against the Yankees, according to Jon Heyman of cbssports.com.
Insight: Sale was diagnosed with a strained flexor muscle in his left elbow after throwing 127 pitches in his last start on April 17. He was expected to make one more rehab start but the team reconsidered because he was so dominant in his first and looked great in his bullpen session this week. Be sure to clear a roster spot if Sale is on your fantasy DL.
Matt Lindstrom, RP5/21/2014 8:29:00 PM
Description: White Sox closer Matt Lindstrom will miss approximately three months after having surgery to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left ankle, according to the team's Twitter.
Insight: Lindstrom suffered the injury during Monday's game and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Ronald Belisario and Daniel Webb are the frontrunners for saves. The 34-year-old Lindstrom can be dropped in all leagues.
Matt Lindstrom, RP5/21/2014 6:37:00 PM
Description: White Sox closer Matt Lindstrom will need to undergo ankle surgery, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Insight: Lindstrom suffered a peroneal tendon subluxation in his left ankle during Monday's game and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Even if the surgery doesn't end his season, it will keep him out for a while. Ronald Belisario and Daniel Webb are the frontrunners for saves. The 34-year-old Lindstrom can be dropped in all leagues.
Alexei Ramirez, SS5/21/2014 2:00:00 PM
Description: Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez owns a .320 batting average this season but that's unlikely to improve Wednesday with Jeremy Guthrie pitching for Kansas City.
Insight: Ramirez has scattered just seven hits in 41 career at bats against the right-hander. Fantasy owners would be wise to avoid this unfavorable matchup.
Chris Sale, SP5/20/2014 7:43:00 PM
Description: White Sox left-hander Chris Sale (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and could be back against the Yankees this weekend, according to Dan Hayes of csnchicago.com.
Insight: Sale was diagnosed with a strained flexor muscle in his left elbow after throwing 127 pitches in his last start on April 17. He was expected to make one more rehab start but the team is reconsidering. Chicago wants to see how he responds to Tuesday's session before making a decision.

Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (ankle) will be in a boot for the next several days, according to Dan Hayes of csnchicago.com.

Alexei Ramirez, SSHot5/19/2014 10:40:00 AM
Description: White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez is a career .444 hitter (8-for-18) against Royals left-hander Jason Vargas.
Insight: Ramirez is in the middle of his best career start, batting .320 with five homers, 28 RBI and an .830 OPS. Add in a strong wind blowing out to left field, with a hot hitter and a favorable matchup and you have a must-start candidate.
Adam Dunn, 1B5/19/2014 10:36:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Adam Dunn is a career .429 hitter versus Royals starter Jason Vargas with a pair of homers and a 1.922 OPS.
Insight: Dunn has been hot of late (.1.065 OPS over the past seven days) and should see plenty of at-bats with Jose Abreu sidelined. We like him in this favorable matchup.
Adrian Nieto, C5/18/2014 5:49:00 PM
Description: White Sox backup catcher Adrian Nieto went 3-for-3 Sunday in a loss to Houston.
Insight: It's Nieto's second three-hit performance in his last four starts. With Tyler Flowers seeing most of the action behind home plate, fantasy owners can't rely on Nieto (.324, 0 HR, 3 RBI) for consistent production.
Adam Eaton, CF5/18/2014 11:21:00 AM
Description: White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton (hamstring) has been activated from the disabled list.
Insight: Eaton strained his right hamstring on May 2. He'll return to a .276 average and a .363 OBP.
Jose Abreu, 1B5/18/2014 11:03:00 AM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his left ankle, according to Scott Merkin of mlb.com.
Insight: Abreu's ankle soreness worsened Saturday and he was removed from Saturday's game for pinch-hitter Paul Konerko. It's a tough blow to fantasy lineups, as Abreu has 15 homers and 42 RBI this season. Konerko will see more playing time in Abreu's absence.
Jose Abreu, 1B5/17/2014 8:29:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu said his sore ankle felt worse Saturday than it did Friday and hinted that he could sit out Sunday, according to Scott Merkin of mlb.com.
Insight: As we suspected, Abreu's ankle injury was the reason why Chicago pinch hit Paul Konerko for Abreu in the seventh inning Saturday.
Jose Abreu, 1B5/17/2014 8:07:00 PM
Description: The White Sox pinch hit Paul Konerko for Jose Abreu (ankle) in the top of the seventh Saturday afternoon against the Astros.
Insight: Abreu has been dealing with a sore ankle and that likely forced him from Saturday's game. We can't think of any other reason the Sox would pinch hit Konerko for Abreu with Chicago down 5-3.
Jose Abreu, 1B5/17/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is probable for Saturday's game against Houston while dealing with a sore ankle. Update: Abreu is in the lineup, at DH, batting third.
Insight: Abreu has 15 homers and 41 RBI this season. He's slugging .606, second in baseball to Troy Tulowitzki. Fantasy owners (and the White Sox) can't afford to be without him.
Chris Sale, SP5/16/2014 9:04:00 PM
Description: White Sox left-hander Chris Sale (elbow) struck out 11 batters over four innings in a rehab start Friday night with Triple-A Charlotte. SOURCE: Scott Merkin, mlb.com

Matt Lindstrom, RP5/14/2014 9:21:00 PM
Description: White Sox closer Matt Lindstrom saved his sixth game of the season Wednesday.
Insight: With Nate Jones on the shelf, the White Sox stuck with Lindstrom through his shaky start (three blown saves in first four chances). He has a 3.50 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP and a 10/9 K/BB in 18 innings, making him a low-end option among closers.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot5/14/2014 6:43:00 PM
Description: White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu hit a go-ahead three-run homer off Luke Gregerson in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday afternoon at Oakland.
Insight: Abreu now has 15 homers and 41 RBI. He's slugging .620, second in baseball to Troy Tulowitzki. We'll see if his 40 percent chase rate (seventh-highest in baseball) catches up to him once pitchers start making adjustments.
Adam Eaton, CF5/14/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton (hamstring) will start a rehab assignment Wednesday, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Insight: Eaton strained his right hamstring on May 2 and has been on the disabled list since then. He's expected to return to Chicago's lineup Sunday.
Jeff Keppinger, 3B5/14/2014 12:12:00 PM
Description: The White Sox have designated infielder Jeff Keppinger for assignment.
Insight: With Conor Gillaspie (.313, 0 HR, 13 RBI) taking the reigns at third base, Keppinger's presence is no longer necessary. Keppinger should catch on with another team shortly, assuming he refuses a minor league assignment.
Alejandro De Aza, OF5/13/2014 8:10:00 PM
Description: Chicago outfielder Alejandro De Aza won't be in action Tuesday against Oakland. SOURCE: White Sox on Twitter
Insight: It's only his second absence of the season. The White Sox will go with a starting outfield of Dayan Viciedo (.303, 3 HR, 14 RBI), Leury Garcia (.216, 0 HR, 1 RBI) and Moises Sierra (.179, 1 HR, 4 RBI).
Chris Sale, SP5/10/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Acting White Sox manager Mark Parent (Robin Ventura is away from the team for his daughter's college graduation) confirmed that Chris Sale (elbow) is scheduled to make two rehab starts. SOURCE: Bruce Levine, CBS Chicago
Insight: Sale was diagnosed with a strained flexor muscle in his left elbow after throwing 127 pitches in his last start on April 17. He could begin the rehab assignment on May 15, which would put him on track to return to the White Sox on May 25 against the Yankees.
Adam Dunn, 1B5/10/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn will not be in the starting lineup against Arizona left-hander Wade Miley.
Insight: No surprise as Dunn is a career .219 hitter against lefties and even worst this season (.158). Paul Konerko will get a rare start at first base.
Paul Konerko, 1B5/10/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: White Sox 1B Paul Konerko will get a rare start on Saturday.
Insight: Adam Dunn gets the day off against the left-handed Wade Miley and the home run leader Jose Abreu will be the DH. Konerko hasn't been fantasy worthy since 2012 and isn't a good play today.
Alexei Ramirez, SS5/9/2014 11:00:00 PM
Description: White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run and four RBI Friday against Arizona.
Insight: He went 4-for-5 Thursday to snap out of a 2-for-19 slump. Prior to Friday, he hadn't homered since April 16. The shortstop is batting .342 with five home runs, 25 RBI, 24 runs and five steals this season.

Jose Abreu, 1B5/9/2014 9:58:00 AM
Description: White Sox 1B Jose Abreu exited Thursday's game with an ankle injury. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet Chicago
Insight: Don't worry, it's nothing serious. Even if he can't play first base for a couple of days, Abreu should be fine to DH. He's been the best power hitter in the American League this season with 12 HR in his first 143 at bats.
Alexei Ramirez, SS5/9/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez bashed four hits Thursday in a loss to the Cubs.

Description: White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham went deep for the second straight game Wednesday against the Cubs.
Insight: Beckham is hitting .231 (12-for-52) this season. He has posted an OPS below .700 in each of the last four seasons and sits there again in 2014.
Adam Dunn, 1B5/7/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn (calf) isn't in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Cubs.

Alexei Ramirez, SS5/6/2014 1:32:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez will be searching for his first hit against Cubs starter Edwin Jackson when the two square off Tuesday night.
Insight: Ramirez is 0-for-17 against Jackson and he also went 1-for-13 with five Ks in his last three games. He's had a terrific season (.328, 4 HR, 19 RBI, 19 R, 5 SB) but should be avoided Tuesday.
Dayan Viciedo, RF5/4/2014 6:00:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo hit a go-ahead three-run homer off Cleveland closer John Axford in the top of the ninth inning Sunday.
Insight: Viciedo, who took over the starting right-field job when Avisail Garcia went down, is hitting .330 with 11 doubles, two homers, 12 RBI and a .913 OPS in 100 at-bats this season.
Dayan Viciedo, RF5/3/2014 11:37:00 AM
Description: White Sox right fielder Dayan Viciedo is hitless in 14 lifetime at bats against Justin Masterson.
Insight: Unfortunately, that's the pitcher Viciedo will have to face on Saturday. If it's any consolation, Viciedo owns the third-highest batting average in the American League this season (.337 in 92 at bats).
Alexei Ramirez, SS5/3/2014 11:35:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez hasn't had much luck against Indians starter Justin Masterson in his career.
Insight: Ramirez is 9-for-21 against him with seven strikeouts (.176 AVG). With Masterson (0-1, 4.84 ERA) throwing for Cleveland on Saturday, Ramirez (.356, 4 HR, 19 RBI) isn't likely to extend his hitting streak to six games.
Tyler Flowers, C5/2/2014 3:56:00 PM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers is not in Friday's starting lineup. Adrian Nieto will be behind the plate.
Insight: He's hitting .354 this season with a home run and nine RBI. Flowers is just a .213 career hitter in 201 major league appearances. Nieto is batting .190 and has little fantasy value.
Adam Dunn, 1B5/2/2014 9:58:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in his only at-bats versus Cleveland right-hander Danny Salazar.
Insight: Dunn (.269, 5 HR, 12 RBI) has the usual high strikeout rate (30 percent) we expect from him, but even he doesn't usually put up many "golden sombreros.". Avoid this matchup.
Alexei Ramirez, SSHot5/2/2014 9:54:00 AM
Description: Its a small sample size, but Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez is 6-for-7 (.857) with a home run and a 2.286 OPS versus Cleveland starter Danny Salazar.
Insight: We have seen the best of Ramirez over these opening 29 games this season. He's batting .351 with four homers, 19 RBI and a career-high .910 OPS. Fantasy owners have been waiting six years for this type of production. He's a must start on Friday.
Conor Gillaspie, 3B4/30/2014 12:20:00 PM
Description: Chicago third baseman Conor Gillaspie should be able to return from the DL as soon as he's eligible on May 7th. SOURCE: Daryl Van Schouwen, Chicago Sun-Times
Insight: He went on the DL last week with a sore hand. Fantasy owners would love to have Gillaspie and his .302 batting average back in the lineup and it sounds like that will happen sooner rather than later.
Alexei Ramirez, SS4/30/2014 11:25:00 AM
Description: Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez will have a tough matchup Wednesday when he faces Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer.
Insight: Tough is an understatement. This is more like impossible. Ramirez has managed just four hits in 44 lifetime at bats with Scherzer throwing (.091 AVG). Obviously that doesn't bode well for fantasy owners.
Chris Sale, SP4/29/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: White Sox manager Robin Ventura said the chances of left-hander Chris Sale (elbow) coming off the disabled list when he's first eligible May 3 are "slim at best." SOURCE: Scott Merkin, mlb.com
Insight: Sale was diagnosed with a strained flexor muscle in his left elbow after throwing 127 pitches in his last start on April 17. He's been playing catch and is hoping to avoid having to go on a minor league rehab assignment.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot4/27/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu continued his assault on the majors Sunday against the Rays.
Insight: After homering and driving in four runs, Abreu leads baseball with 10 home runs and 31 RBI. He has hit six of his home runs in the last eight games.
Erik Johnson, SPCold4/27/2014 6:12:00 PM
Description: The White Sox demoted right-hander Erik Johnson to Triple-A on Saturday.
Insight: Johnson, Chicago's top prospect, allowed four runs on four hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings Friday against Tampa Bay and owns a 6.46 ERA this season. Chicago is down to just Jose Quintana and John Danks from its Opening Day rotation.
Alexei Ramirez, SS4/27/2014 11:13:00 AM
Description: Be cautious in using White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez on Sunday. He's only a .174 career hitter against Rays left-hander David Price.
Insight: That's certainly not what fantasy owners are looking for. Still, it's tough to sit Ramirez when he's hit .344 with 17 RBI in his first 25 games. Use your best judgment here.
Gordon Beckham, 2B4/27/2014 11:07:00 AM
Description: Chicago second baseman Gordon Beckham is hitting a brutal .136 in 22 lifetime at bats versus David Price.
Insight: That doesn't bode well for Beckham with Price (3-1, 4.04 ERA) getting the start on Sunday. So far, Beckham is 2-for-10 since being activated from the disabled list on Thursday.
Scott Carroll, SP4/26/2014 9:02:00 PM
Description: Right-hander Scott Carroll is set to make his big league debut Sunday against Tampa Bay. SOURCE: Marc Topkin, Tampa Bay Times
Insight: Carroll earned the promotion after going 3-1 with a 1.57 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Charlotte. If Sunday's start is a success, Carroll could get a few more turns in the rotation while Chris Sale recovers from a strained flexor muscle.
Conor Gillaspie, 3B4/26/2014 3:33:00 PM
Description: White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to April 22 due to soreness in his left hand.
Insight: The 26-year-old is quietly hitting .302 with seven doubles, 12 RBI and a .760 OPS in 16 games for the White Sox this season. Marcus Semien (.225, 3 HR, 13 RBI) should see most of the playing time

Insight: Eaton (.282, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 15 R, 1 SB) suffered a left hamstring injury last Saturday and missed the last five games.
Adam Dunn, 1B4/24/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Thursday at Detroit.
Insight: As usual, Dunn (.266, 5 HR, 11 RBI) has a high strikeout rate (30 percent), but he's actually getting some good luck on balls in play this year. His .333 BABIP is 67 points higher than last year.
Dayan Viciedo, RFHot4/24/2014 5:52:00 PM
Description: Chicago right fielder Dayan Viciedo has gone 14-for-24 (.583) with four doubles, one home run, five RBI and six runs over his last six games.
Insight: Viciedo took over the starting job in right field when Avisail Garcia suffered a season-ending injury and has hit .377 in 69 at-bats. His strikeout rate is down from 20.7 percent in 2013 to 14.5 percent this year, but he also has benefited from a .431 BABIP and only has one home run all season.
Gordon Beckham, 2B4/24/2014 12:14:00 PM
Description: White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham has been activated from the disabled list and is in Thursday's starting lineup.
Insight: Beckham missed the first few weeks of the season with a strained oblique. His return will mean less playing time for Marcus Semien (.234, 3 HR, 13 RBI) and Conor Gillaspie (.302, 0 HR, 12 RBI).
Alexei Ramirez, SS4/24/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez is just 4-for-42 (.095) against Detroit ace Max Scherzer.
Insight: Ramirez is off to a quick start, batting .352 with four homers, 15 RBI, 15 runs and a .944 OPS. he's hit safely in 21 of 22 games this season. All these numbers are well above his six-season averages and he's a "sell high" candidate. Don't start him against Scherzer.
Dayan Viciedo, RFHot4/23/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Chicago right fielder Dayan Viciedo jolted four hits in Tuesday night's loss to the Tigers.
Insight: Viciedo is now on a four-game hitting streak (10-for-18). His .361 batting average this season is fifth-best in the major leagues.
Jose Abreu, 1BHot4/22/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu socked a solo homer over the center-field wall off Justin Verlander in the top of the first inning Tuesday night.
Insight: That's the center-field wall at Comerica Park, 420 feet away from home plate, if you were wondering. Abreu went 2-for-3 with two runs in the game and has six homers on the young season. He's done a good job to shake off his first MLB slump, going 8-for-20 with three doubles and two homers after a 1-for-25 stretch.
Gordon Beckham, 2B4/22/2014 9:22:00 PM
Description: White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham should be activated from the disabled list later this week. SOURCE: WhiteSox.com
Insight: He's hoping to play this weekend against the Rays. Beckham missed the first few weeks of the season with a strained oblique. His return will probably mean less playing time for Marcus Semien (.227, 2 HR, 9 RBI) and Conor Gillaspie (.302, 0 HR, 12 RBI).
Conor Gillaspie, 3B4/22/2014 5:40:00 PM

Description: It didn't take long for Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu to break out of his 1-for-25 slump. He's gone 5-for-9 with three RBI over his last two games.
Insight: Three of those hits came in Sunday's blowout win over Texas. Up to this point, Abreu has performed about the way you would expect him to. He's provided strong power numbers for the White Sox (five HR, 17 RBI) but has not been able to hit for a high average (.243 in 19 games this season).
Dayan Viciedo, RFHot4/20/2014 8:30:00 PM

Insight: Ramirez went 2-for-4 and is now hitting .420 with three home runs, 12 RBI, 11 runs and three steals despite batting mostly out of the seven- and eight-hole. His home run total declined in each of the last three years down to six in 2013 but his steal total increased in the last two up to 30 in 2013. Maybe he can finally put the 20-homer power he flashed as a rookie in 2008 together with baserunning ability he displayed last year.
Tyler Flowers, CHot4/12/2014 10:51:00 AM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers is not in Saturday's starting lineup. Adrian Nieto will be behind the plate.
Insight: He's hitting .419 this season but don't expect it to last. Flowers is just a .213 career hitter in 201 major league appearances. Nieto is 2-for-9 this season without a home run or RBI.

Description: White Sox right-hander Erik Johnson is off to a shaky start this season.
Insight: Johnson has allowed 19 hits and 11 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings. MLB.com rated him as Chicago's top prospect before the season began after he went 12-3 with a 1.96 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP and a 131/40 K/BB in 142 minor-league innings last year. He also had a terrible spring (6.35 ERA, 1.53 WHIP in 17 IP) so avoid him until further notice.
Avisail Garcia, RF4/9/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Chicago right fielder Avisail Garcia jammed his left shoulder while attempting to make a diving catch Thursday. X-rays ruled out a fracture, separation or dislocation, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Description: White Sox second baseman Marcus Semien ripped four hits Tuesday in a victory over Colorado.
Insight: It's the seventh multi-hit game of Semien's career and his first of the four-hit variety. The jury's still out on Semien's fantasy potential but at least he's hanging in there with a .273 average in the month of April (9-for-33).

Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu showed off his power by swatting two long balls Tuesday in a blowout win against the Rockies.
Insight: Coors Field, aka Hitter's Paradise, was up to its usual tricks on Tuesday night. In total, seven balls left the yard with six of those round-trippers belonging to the White Sox. Abreu is tied with Minnesota's Chris Colabello for the league-lead in RBI with 11 through eight games.

Description: Chicago right fielder Avisail Garcia belted four hits Tuesday in a 15-3 onslaught of Colorado.

Tommy Hanson, SP4/7/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Rangers castoff Tommy Hanson has caught on with the White Sox. SOURCE: Jon Heyman, CBS Sports
Insight: It's a minor league contract. Hanson was a total disaster in Anaheim last season (4-3, 5.42 ERA) and was just as bad with Texas during spring training (0-2, 6.43). It's going to take a lot for him to get back on the fantasy radar.

Description: Chicago right-hander Nate Jones (hip) is expected to miss more than 15 days, according to Dan Hayes of csnchicago.com.
Insight: He strained a hip muscle on April 3. Jones was the favorite to win Chicago's closer job but manager Robin Ventura went with Matt Lindstrom and Jones then allowed four runs without getting an out in middle relief. His ERA and WHIP will remain infinite until he returns from the DL.
Alejandro De Aza, LF4/6/2014 12:32:00 PM
Description: Chicago left fielder Alejandro De Aza is not in the lineup Sunday, probably because he is just 4-for-24 (.167) against Royals starter James Shields.

Dayan Viciedo, LF4/5/2014 11:27:00 AM
Description: If White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo gets a chance to start against lefty Bruce Chen, he is a worthy gamble for fantasy owners. Update: Viciedo is starting and batting cleanup.
Insight: Viciedo is 10-for-29 (.345) with three homers versus Chen. He stuck in a backup role behind Alejandro de Aza, Adam Eaton and Avisail Garcia and may not get the opportunities he saw over the past two seasons. Start him on Saturday.
Adam Dunn, 1B4/5/2014 11:26:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is a career .333 hitter versus Royals left-hander Bruce Chen. Update: Dunn is not in the starting lineup.
Insight: Dunn normally struggles against lefties (career .220 hitter), so this is outside his comfort zone, but he's 8-for-24 with four extra base hits and a 1.133 OPS against Chen.
Dayan Viciedo, LF4/5/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: If White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo gets a chance to start against lefty Bruce Chen, he is a worthy gamble for fantasy owners.

Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers stayed hot with three hits Friday against Kansas City.

Nate Jones, RP4/4/2014 9:20:00 PM

Description: White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie has missed two games due to illness, but is expected to return on Friday.
Insight: The 26-year-old Gillaspie has yet to produce enough with the bat to be fantasy worthy. He batted .245 with 13 HR and 40 RBI last season.

Nate Jones, RPCold4/3/2014 8:11:00 PM
Description: White Sox reliever Nate Jones re-injured his left glute Thursday in a loss to Minnesota. SOURCE: Dan Hayes, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago

Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two walks and two steals Wednesday against the Twins.
Insight: Ramirez' home run total dipped in each of the last three seasons, going from 18 in 2010 to six last year, but he stole a career-high 30 bases in 2013 to keep himself on the fantasy radar.

Dayan Viciedo, LF4/2/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: If White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo gets a chance to start againat Minnesota hurler Kevin Correia you should consider him for a spot start as he's 5-for-8 with a couple of extra base hits and a 1.792 OPS in their matchups.
Insight: Viciedo is stuck in a backup role behind Alejandro de Aza, Adam Eaton and Avisail Garcia and may not get the opportunities he saw over the past two seasons. He averaged 473 at-bats and 19.5 homers over that span.
Alejandro De Aza, LF3/31/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Chicago left fielder Alejandro De Aza blasted two home runs off Ricky Nolasco Monday against the Twins.
Insight: De Aza lost both his starting center-field job and the leadoff spot in the order to Adam Eaton, and he'll split time with Dayan Viciedo in left field. Monday's results should help him remain on the heavy side of that platoon early this season.
Matt Lindstrom, RP3/31/2014 1:25:00 PM
Description: The White Sox will go with Matt Lindstrom at closer to start the season. SOURCE: Daryl Van Schouwen, Chicago Sun-Times

Insight: Beckham had a promising rookie year in 2009 but has posted an OPS south of .700 in each of the last four seasons. There's no reason to own him in mixed leagues. With Jeff Keppinger (shoulder) also starting the season on the DL, Marcus Semien will start at second base.
Jose Quintana, SP3/24/2014 8:20:00 PM
Description: The White Sox have signed left-hander Jose Quintana to a five-year extension. SOURCE: Scott Merkin, MLB.com
Insight: The deal could be worth up to $26 million if Quintana gains Super 2 status. He's had a shaky spring so far (0-2, 16.36 ERA in five appearances) but we're confident Quintana will get it together by the time the regular season starts.
Nate Jones, RP3/23/2014 1:29:00 PM
Description: The White Sox are still undecided on who will be their closer in 2014, according to Scott Merkin of mlb.com.

Matt Davidson, 3B3/23/2014 12:48:00 PM
Description: The White Sox optioned third baseman Matt Davidson to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
Insight: Chicago dealt closer Addison Reed to get Davidson from the Diamondbacks this offseason, but it has decided to begin the season with Conor Gillespie at the hot corner even though Davidson has hit .308 with two home runs this spring. Davidson has hit 78 homers over the last four minor-league seasons.
Jose Abreu, 1B3/22/2014 5:39:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu (ankles) will get a few days off to rest, according to csnchicago.com.
Insight: Abreu has been playing with sore ankles and the White Sox want to make sure he is healthy for the start of the regular season. The Cuban first baseman has been as good as advertised this spring, hitting .317 with two homers and nine RBI in 41 at bats.
Tyler Flowers, C3/21/2014 8:56:00 PM
Description: White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers exited Friday's spring training matchup with leg cramps. SOURCE: Daryl Van Schouwen, Chicago Sun-Times
Insight: It doesn't sound like anything to be overly concerned about. In 84 games last season, Flowers demonstrated nice power (10 HR) but failed to hit for average (.195 in 256 at bats).
Jose Abreu, 1B3/21/2014 8:52:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu left Friday's game early because of ankle soreness. SOURCE: Scott Merkin, MLB.com
Insight: His removal was considered precautionary. Abreu has been as good as advertised this spring, hitting .317 with two homers and nine RBI in 41 at bats.
Jose Quintana, SPCold3/18/2014 9:14:00 PM
Description: White Sox pitcher Josh Quintana gave up nine earned runs without getting an out during Tuesday's Cactus League start against the Athletics and has a 30.00 ERA, but the team isn't panicked about his struggles this spring. SOURCE: Dan Hayes, csnchicago.com
Insight: "It just looks a little flat," manager Robin Ventura said. "But velocity is there. Really in the middle of the plate is where he was today. His cutter wasn't as sharp as it was in the past. That could be from getting on top of it and not having as much slide across the plate. He was in the middle today. ... You definitely think about it, but I wouldn't say it's a concern." A National League scout said he didn't detect any obvious arm issues but though the lefty had a poor delivery. Quintana went 9-7 with a 3.51 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and 164 strikeouts in 200 innings last season.
Gordon Beckham, 2B3/15/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Chicago second baseman Gordon Beckham will be shut down for the next week with a strained oblique. SOURCE: Scot Gregor, Daily Herald
Insight: Beckham's 2013 season was disappointing to say the least. With just five hits in his first 30 spring training at bats (.167 AVG), 2014 isn't off to such a great start either. Avoid him in fantasy leagues.
Nate Jones, RP3/5/2014 1:53:00 PM
Description: Nate Jones, one of the White Sox's top closer candidates, threw about 40 pitches in a bullpen session Wednesday and felt fine, according to JJ Stankevitz of csnchicago.com. Jones has been out with a gluteal strain and is targeting Saturday for his Cactus League debut.
Insight: Chicago is in search of a new closer after trading Addison Reed to the Diamondbacks. The hard-throwing Jones has a good shot to win the closer job, as Ronald Belisario still hasn't arrived to camp due to visa issues and Matt Lindstrom aggravated an oblique injury. Scott Downs and rookie Daniel Webb are the other options.
Ronald Belisario, RP3/4/2014 8:01:00 PM
Description: According to mlb.com, Ronald Belisario still hasn't reported to White Sox camp due to visa issues.
Insight: Robin Ventura had no updates on the situation Tuesday, saying only that "it's gone dark." Belisario's chances of grabbing the closer role are all but gone. It will either be Nate Jones, Matt Lindstrom, Daniel Webb or Scott Downs closing games for the White Sox to start the season.
Nate Jones, RP3/2/2014 8:04:00 PM
Description: Nate Jones, one of the White Sox's top closer candidates, could return from a gluteal strain as soon as Saturday, according to Scott Merkin of mlb.com.
Insight: Chicago is in search of a new closer after trading Addison Reed to the Diamondbacks. The hard-throwing Jones is competing with veterans Scott Downs, Ronald Belisario, Mitchelle Boggs and Matt Lindstrom for the job after posting a 4.15 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 78 innings last season.
Nate Jones, RP2/26/2014 6:52:00 PM
Description: Nate Jones, one of the White Sox' top closer candidates, said he no longer feels any of the effects of a gluteal strain that kept him out the first week of camp. SOURCE: csnchicago.com
Insight: Chicago manager Robin Ventura said that Jones isabout a week behind his teammates and won't pitch in the early portion of the White Sox' Cactus League schedule. However, Ventura expects him to be ready for the season. Chicago is in search of a new closer after trading Addison Reed to the Diamondbacks. The hard-throwing Jones is competing with veterans Scott Downs, Ronald Belisario, Mitchelle Boggs and Matt Lindstrom for the job after posting a 4.15 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 78 innings last season.
Adam Dunn, 1B2/25/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Chicago 1B/DH Adam Dunn says he plans to continue his career beyond this season. SOURCE: WhiteSox.com
Insight: Dunn has contemplated retirement in the past but insists it's not on his mind right now. The 34-year-old is 39th on MLB's all-time home run list with 440 jacks in 6,454 career at bats. Dunn made headlines earlier this week with the news that he might be present at the Oscars after playing a small role in the Academy Award-nominated Dallas Buyers Club.
Matt Lindstrom, RP2/17/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Relief pitcher Matt Lindstrom could end up starting the season as the White Sox closer as he has more experience at it than Chicago's other options. Pitching coach Don Cooper called Lindstrom, Nate Jones and Daniel Webb as the three likeliest closer candidates in a CSNChicago.com report.
Insight: We think its possible that Lindstrom will start the season as the closer if he shows well in spring training, but by the end of the season it will be Jones' job. Its certainly worth watching as he'd be a cheap source of saves.
Mitchell Boggs, RP2/7/2014 9:41:00 PM
Description: Former St. Louis reliever Mitchell Boggs has agreed to a one-year deal with the White Sox. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: The contract is worth $1.1 million. Boggs will probably be used in a setup role, which means he won't have much of a fantasy impact in 2014.
Erik Johnson, SP1/26/2014 2:36:00 PM
Description: White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said to pencil in Erik Johnson as a starter next season.
Insight: A second-round selection (80th overall) in the 2011 Amateur Draft, Johnson had five major league starts last season. He went 3-2 with a 3.25 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Not great, but not horrible either. He was also 12-3 with a 1.96 ERA and 0.986 WHIP in 24 minor league starts.
Matt Davidson, 3B12/16/2013 3:03:00 PM
Description: Diamondbacks third base prospect Matt Davidson has been traded to the Chicago White Sox for closer Addison Reed.
Insight: The 22-year-old Davidson could open the season as the White Sox starter at third base. He hot just .237 in 76 at-bats with Arizona, but banged out 17 HR at Triple-A. The last time Chicago had a fantasy quality was 2006 when Joe Crede batted .283 with 30 HR and 94 RBI.
Paul Konerko, 1B12/4/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: Paul Konerko isn't going anywhere. The veteran first baseman has agreed to a $2.5 million contract that will keep him in Chicago for another season. SOURCE: Scott Merkin, MLB.com
Insight: Jose Abreu and Adam Dunn are likely to see most of the reps at first base which means Konerko probably won't be an everyday player anymore. Because of this, his fantasy use will be limited to AL-only formats.
Jose Abreu, 1B10/19/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu has agreed to a record-breaking six-year, $68 million deal with the White Sox. SOURCE: Jesse Sanchez, MLB.com
Insight: The Red Sox, Astros and Rangers were also bidding on the talented 26-year-old. It's the largest contract ever given to an international player, topping the $56 million Texas paid for Yu Darvish in 2012. Abreu's presence now makes veteran first baseman Paul Konerko expendable.
Paul Konerko, 1B9/29/2013 10:56:00 AM
Description: White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko is still on the fence about retirement. SOURCE: Chicago Sun-Times
Insight: He'll take a month off to weigh his options. If Konerko (.245, 12 HR, 54 RBI) decides to play one more season, it's doubtful that he'd play for anyone other than the White Sox.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/29/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez has hit just .114 in his career against Kansas City starter Bruce Chen.
Insight: Ramirez (.282) has swiped 30 bases and hit 39 doubles, but he has a career-low five home runs with 47 RBI, 67 runs and a .685 OPS in 670 plate appearances. Sit him Sunday.
Dayan Viciedo, LF9/29/2013 10:29:00 AM
Description: White Sox left fielder Dayan Viciedo has gone 10-for-27 (.370) with three home runs against Royals starter Bruce Chen.
Insight: Viciedo has dropped off from 25 homers and 78 RBI a year ago to 14 home runs and 56 RBI this season. The outfielder has hit .333 with four homers, 19 RBI and an .863 OPS over his last 29 games, though, and is in a position to finish the season with a big game against Chen.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/27/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez has a .410 average (16-for-39) against Kansas City Royals right-hander James Shields.
Insight: Ramirez has set a career high with 39 doubles, but with just five homers and 47 RBI his fantasy value continues to fade.
Adam Dunn, 1BCold9/26/2013 9:34:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is 4-for-26 (.154) with 12 strikeouts against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie.
Insight: Dunn hit .286 with 22 homers, 61 RBI and a .945 OPS from May 14 to Aug. 17, but he bookended that with a .133 average, six homers, 12 RBI and a .535 OPS from April 1 to May 13 and a .115 average, four homers, 10 RBI and a .431 OPS from Aug. 18 to Sept. 24. It's safe to drop him.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/26/2013 9:32:00 AM
Description: Thursday's starter Jeremy Guthrie of the Royals has limited White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez to a .158 average in their previous meetings.
Insight: That has come across 38 at-bats. Ramirez has set new career lows with five homers and 47 RBI while producing career highs with 39 doubles and 30 steals. He shouldn't be started Thursday based on his past struggles against Guthrie.
Paul Konerko, 1B9/24/2013 9:55:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko left Tuesday's game after fouling a ball off his knee, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
Insight: Konerko is expected to address his future during Chicago's final homestand this weekend, ESPN Chicago reported earlier today. The 37-year-old has hit just .248 with 11 homers, 53 RBI and a .672 OPS in 508 plate appearances this season.
Jeff Keppinger, 3B9/24/2013 5:25:00 PM
Description: White Sox third baseman Jeff Keppinger will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Thursday, according to Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com.
Insight: Keppinger hit .253 with a .600 OPS in 117 games with the White Sox this year after hitting .325 with an .806 OPS in 115 games with the Rays in 2012.
Adam Dunn, 1BCold9/24/2013 12:01:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn has struck out 16 times in 29 official at bats versus Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jimenez.
Insight: Since June, Dunns OPS has dropped in each month to a low of .457 in September with just two homers. If he's not hitting the long ball, he's of no value to fantasy owners.
Chris Sale, SP9/22/2013 10:15:00 AM
Description: White Sox lefty Chris Sale fired 7 2/3 shutout innings Saturday in a no-decision against Detroit.
Insight: Because it's the White Sox we're talking about, the Tigers ended up winning 7-6 in extra innings. If the sabermetricians had their way, Sale (2.97 ERA) would probably be the frontrunner for the AL Cy Young. Unfortunately for Sale, his 11-13 record will probably prevent him from winning the award.
Adam Dunn, 1BCold9/22/2013 10:13:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn shouldn't be started with Anibal Sanchez on the mound Sunday.
Insight: In fact, you might want to drop Dunn altogether. He hasn't had a multi-hit game since August 17 and is hitting .120 (12-for-100) over his last 29 games. He's 7-for-30 (.233) with zero homers and 14 K against Sanchez.
Avisail Garcia, RF9/20/2013 10:50:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia returned to the lineup and went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI Friday night.
Insight: Garcia left the team earlier this week to be with his wife for the birth of their child. He's hitting .306 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 33 games with the Sox.
Avisail Garcia, RF9/20/2013 6:33:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia is in the starting lineup Friday.
Insight: Garcia left the team earlier this week to be with his wife for the birth of their child.
Andre Rienzo, SP9/20/2013 4:48:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Andre Rienzo has been scratched from his Friday night start.
Insight: Rienzo posted a 4.06 ERA and struck out 113 batters in 113 innings with Triple-A Charlotte this season, but has done little to excite fantasy owners with a 2-2 record, a 5.04 ERA and 1.56 WHIP. Dylan Axelrod (4-9, 5.33 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) will get the start in Rienzo's place.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/20/2013 10:50:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez is just 4-for-39 (.103) versus Tigers ace Max Scherzer.
Insight: Ramirez (.285, 5 HR, 47 RBI, 30 SB) had an excellent August and has continued to produce in September to earn low-end fantasy status. this matchup, however, is not a good one.
Dayan Viciedo, LF9/18/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: White Sox left fielder Dayan Viciedo is 8-for-19 (.421) with a home run and a 1.158 OPS versus Minnesota starter Scott Diamond.
Insight: Viciedo hasn't been able to duplicate last year's power numbers and will come up short of his 25 HR, 78 RBI production of a season ago. This matchup, however, is a favorable one.
Avisail Garcia, RF9/18/2013 9:53:00 AM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia wasn't in the lineup on Monday or Tuesday due to his wife giving birth.
Insight: He should be back with the team shortly. He's batting .300 as a member of the White Sox and .276 overall this season.
Hector Santiago, SP9/17/2013 8:50:00 PM
Description: The White Sox will skip left-hander Hector Santiago's next start, according to Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com.
Insight: "The last few starts he's had, he just looks tired," manager Robin Ventura said. "Pitching as many innings as he has this year, just give him a rest and see what he does next time out." Overall, Santiago has thrown a career-high 142 2/3 innings and posted a 3.53 ERA this season. As a starter, he is 4-7 with a 3.47 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 124 1/3 innings.
Avisail Garcia, RF9/16/2013 6:17:00 PM
Description: White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia won't be in the lineup on Monday. SOURCE: Dan Hayes, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago
Insight: His wife just gave birth. He should be back with the team shortly. Jordan Danks will be the team's interim right fielder during Garcia's absence.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/16/2013 11:52:00 AM
Description: Chicago outfielder Avisail Garcia was scratched from Sunday's lineup to be with his pregnant wife and is questionable for Monday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: With the September roster exansion in effect, the White Sox can get by without him if necessary. The 22-year-old has hit .300 with two homers and a .733 OPS in his first 32 games with Chicago.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/15/2013 2:16:00 PM
Description: Chicago outfielder Avisail Garcia was scratched from Sunday's lineup to be with his pregnant wife. SOURCE: Scott Merkin, MLB.com
Insight: With the September roster exansion in effect, the White Sox likely won't place Garcia on the paternity leave list. The 22-year-old has hit .300 with two homers and a .733 OPS in his first 32 games with Chicago.
Paul Konerko, 1B9/15/2013 10:39:00 AM
Description: Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko has gone 3-for-18 (.167) with zero extra-base hits against Cleveland's Zach McAllister.
Insight: The two will square off Sunday. Konerko has long appeared to be ageless but he has hit a wall this season, batting .247 with 11 homers, 51 RBI and a .679 OPS in 479 plate appearances.
Adam Dunn, 1B9/14/2013 10:30:00 AM
Description: Keep away from Chicago first baseman/DH Adam Dunn on Saturday.
Insight: Dunn is a career .172 hitter with 16 strikeouts in 29 at-bats against Saturday starter Ubaldo Jimenez.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/10/2013 5:33:00 PM
Description: Chicago outfielder Avisail Garcia is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.
Insight: Garcia had a double root canal and missed Monday's game but he is already good to go. He has hit .320 with two homers since joining the White Sox in a three-team trade with Detroit and Boston.
Gordon Beckham, 2B9/10/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham is a career .435 hitter (10-for-23) against Detroit right-hander Rick Porcello.
Insight: Beckham has done little this season, batting .274 with four homers ans 21 RBI in 88 games so it would be a huge risk to start him even with these favorable numbers.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/10/2013 10:32:00 AM
Description: Chicago outfielder Avisail Garcia is doubtful for Tuesday's game against Detroit after having some dental work done.
Insight: Garcia was acquired from the Tigers as part of the Jake Peavy trade in late July. He's done well in his first stint as an everyday player, hitting .320 with 13 RBI in 27 games since the trade.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/9/2013 1:47:00 PM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez is just 4-for-37 (.108) versus Tigers ace Max Scherzer.
Insight: Ramirez (.284, 4 HR, 43 RBI, 30 SB) had an excellent August to earn low-end fantasy status.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/8/2013 11:28:00 AM
Description: Chicago right fielder Avisail Garcia missed another game Monday because of a root canal. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet Chicago
Insight: The White Sox are well out of the playoff race and can afford to give their young outfielder a few days to heal up. Jordan Danks (.239, 3 HR, 7 RBI) is getting the start in his place.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/8/2013 11:28:00 AM
Description: Chicago outfielder Avisail Garcia will need a few days to recover after having some dental work done. SOURCE: Daryl Van Schouwen, Chicago Sun-Times
Insight: Garcia was acquired from the Tigers as part of the Jake Peavy trade in late July. He's done well in his first stint as an everyday player, hitting .320 with 13 RBI in 27 games since the trade.
Paul Konerko, 1B9/8/2013 10:55:00 AM
Description: Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko won't be in the starting nine Sunday versus Baltimore.
Insight: Jeff Keppinger will get the start at first while Adam Dunn will do the DHing. Konerko, who is 4-for-10 in the series, will be a free agent after this season.
Alejandro De Aza, CF9/7/2013 10:45:00 AM
Description: Chicago center fielder Alejandro De Aza is not in Saturday's starting lineup versus Baltimore.
Insight: De Aza has been a decent fantasy value this season and could end up posting a 20-20 season. He needs five homers and one stolen base to reach that mark.
Adam Dunn, 1B9/7/2013 10:40:00 AM
Description: Chicago first baseman/DH Adam Dunn is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Insight: Dunn's batting average has been much better in the second half (.247), but at the expense of home runs. He hit 24 in 87 first-half games and just six in 45 games after the break.
Tyler Flowers, C9/5/2013 9:17:00 PM
Description: White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers had season-ending shoulder surgery on Thursday. SOURCE: White Sox.com
Insight: He's looking at a 2-to-3 month recovery window. We'd expect him to be ready for Spring Training.
Avisail Garcia, CF9/4/2013 10:16:00 PM
Description: Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia is batting .344 with four doubles, a triple, two homers and 13 RBI in 25 games since coming over from the Tigers.
Insight: He went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI Wednesday against New York. The 22-year-old has a bright future.
Adam Dunn, 1BCold9/4/2013 12:17:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman/DH Adam Dunn has been ice cold at the plate (two for his last 21) and Wednesday's meeting with CC Sabathia probably won't help matters.
Insight: Dunn's career average versus Sabathia is a pathetic .156 in 32 at bats. The free swinger has whiffed 16 times in his last ten appearances.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/4/2013 12:14:00 PM
Description: Gordon Beckham isn't the only White Sox player with a good history against CC Sabathia. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez has also had success against the lefthander.
Insight: He's hitting .423 against Sabathia in 26 prior engagements. Ramirez (.285, 4 HR, 43 RBI) is one stolen base away from 30, the first time he's approached that threshold in six major league seasons.
Gordon Beckham, 2B9/4/2013 12:10:00 PM
Description: White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham owns Yankees starter CC Sabathia.
Insight: Sabathia, who takes the hill for his 29th start of the season Wednesday at Yankee Stadium, has given up eight hits to Beckham in 20 at bats. Beckham broke out of an 0-for-11 drought by smacking two hits in Tuesday's loss.
Adam Dunn, 1B9/4/2013 10:18:00 AM
Description: Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports is hearing that White Sox DH/1B Adam Dunn may retire after the season.
Insight: He still has a year left on his contract and with 30 HR in 130 games this season, he's having a typical Adam Dunn year. So why would he quit? Well, perhaps it's because the game just isn't fun for him anymore. "I'm not coming back to chase home run numbers or whatever," Dunn told Rosenthal. "If I end up with 499 and I'm not having fun, see ya - 499 it is." As it stands now, the power-hitting Dunn is 41st on the all-time home run list with 436 blasts in 1,851 big league appearances.
Alejandro De Aza, CF9/3/2013 10:21:00 PM
Description: Chicago center fielder Alejandro De Aza had three hits, including a solo home run, Tuesday against the Yankees.
Insight: De Aza has just three homers in the second half after hitting 12 in the first. Tuesday's game helped snap a 2-for-18 slump.
Jose Quintana, SP9/2/2013 7:38:00 PM
Description: White Sox pitcher Josh Quintana only threw one inning (20 pitches) Monday against the Yankees due to a lengthy rain delay.
Insight: Quintana has had a solid campaign, going 7-4 with a 3.69 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and 139 strikeouts in 165 2/3 innings. Whether the White Sox choose to bring him back on three days rest or leave him on his regular routine, Quintana's next start will come at Baltimore.
Tyler Flowers, C9/2/2013 11:55:00 AM
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers needs shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season.
Insight: Dan Hayes of Comcast Chicago says the surgery will sideline Flowers for the next 3-to-6 months. Josh Phegley (.211, 4 HR, 17 RBI) is starting at catcher Monday against New York.
Alexei Ramirez, SS9/2/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez had a fine afternoon Sunday against the Red Sox (3-for-5 with two stolen bases) but we wouldn't expect much from him Monday against New York.
Insight: Ramirez has been disastrous against starter Phil Hughes (1-for-11). Most days, Ramirez is an intriguing fantasy option due to his speed (29 steals) and high batting average (.288). Monday, however, we'd stash him on the bench.
Gordon Beckham, 2BCold9/2/2013 10:26:00 AM
Description: Chicago second baseman Gordon Beckham didn't play yesterday and it might be wise to sit him again Monday against New York.
Insight: That's because Beckham is only hitting .077 against Yankees starter Phil Hughes. Given the slump he's been in over the last week (just two for his last 19), we wouldn't recommend putting Beckham in your lineup on Labor Day.
Avisail Garcia, CF8/29/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI Wednesday against Houston.
Insight: It was his first home run since joining the White Sox. He's hitting .352 with an .851 OPS over 19 games with the team.
Chris Sale, SP8/29/2013 10:26:00 AM
Description: Chicago ace Chris Sale bounced back from allowing eight earned runs over seven innings by going eight innings and allowing one earned run on four hits Wednesday against the Astros.
Insight: A matchup with Houston is certainly a good way to get back on track. Sale struck out 12 batters Wednesday and is 10-12 with a 2.99 ERA and a stellar 193/39 K/BB over 180 1/3 innings this season.
Avisail Garcia, CF8/26/2013 11:07:00 AM
Description: Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia exited Sunday's game after slamming into the wall chasing Jeff Baker's home run and is questionable for Monday's game against Houston with a head injury.
Insight: Garcia hit the back of his head and his right shoulder trying to make the catch and was shaken up. He passed a concussion test and is day-to-day.
Avisail Garcia, CF8/25/2013 4:18:00 PM
Description: Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia exited Sunday's game after slamming into the wall chasing Jeff Baker's home run.
Insight: Garcia hit the back of his head and his right shoulder trying to make the catch and was shaken up. It wouldn't be surprising if he suffered a concussion.
Paul Konerko, 1BCold8/25/2013 11:22:00 AM
Description: Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko's miserable season has gotten worse in August -- he's hitting .203 with a .603 OPS this month -- but a matchup with Texas' Matt Garza Sunday might be able to help Konerko recapture his youth for a day.
Insight: The 37-year-old Konerko owns a .467 average (7-for-15) with two doubles, three homers, two walks, seven RBI and zero strikeouts against Garza. If you're still holding onto Konerko, start him Sunday.
Adam Dunn, 1B8/25/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Adam Dunn hit his 29th home run of the season Saturday against Texas.
Insight: Dunn has been a .301 hitter since early June, but as his average has increased his power has dropped off just a bit. He only has five home runs over his last 40 games.
Paul Konerko, 1B8/23/2013 11:25:00 AM
Description: Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko is questionable for Friday's game against Texas after missing the last game due to feeling lightheaded, according to beat reporter Dan Hayes.
Insight: The 37-year-old has hit a wall in 2013, batting .241 with nine homers and a .662 OPS in 94 games after being a .300 hitter for the past three seasons.
Alexei Ramirez, SS8/22/2013 9:50:00 AM
Description: White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez is batting .326 with three homers, 13 RBI and an .837 OPS in August and owns a .389 lifetime average against Royals starter James Shields.
Insight: Ramirez had one homer all season coming into the month, but he has rediscovered his power stroke. The shortstop is 14-for-36 with two homers against Shields, so make sure he's in your lineup Thursday.
Adam Dunn, 1B8/21/2013 11:30:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH/1B Adam Dunn is 3-for-23 (.130) with 11 strikeouts against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie.
Insight: Dunn's batting average is up (.237) and his strikeouts are down (139 in 418 at-bats), but he's still not producing at his 2002-2010 level.
Paul Konerko, 1B8/21/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko has struck out 11 times in 36 at-bats against James Shields of the Royals.
Insight: Konerko is 6-for-36 (.167) against Thursday's starter. After producing solid numbers for years, the 37-year-old has hit a wall in 2013, batting .241 with nine homers and a .662 OPS in 94 games.
Jeff Keppinger, 3B8/21/2013 9:38:00 AM
Description: White Sox third baseman Jeff Keppinger is questionable for Wednesday's game against Kansas City with a stiff lower back.
Insight: Keppinger provides nothing for fantasy owners, no speed (zero steals) and very little power (3 HR, .572 OPS). Conor Gillaspie is only a slightly better option.
