Description: Jeff Suppan gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits in six innings against the Phillies on Sunday.
Insight: Suppan (2-1) has thrown three straight solid starts for San Diego in his first action in the MLB since 2010. However, don't be fooled by his results so far. Suppan is nothing more than a spot starter in NL-only leagues.

9/1/2010 4:51:00 PM
Description: Jeff Suppan was put back in the rotation today and responded by allowing four runs over five innings.
Insight: Suppan will eat some innings for the Cards in September but NL-Only owners should stay away.

8/1/2010 7:15:00 AM
Description: Jeff Suppan improved to 1-6 this year by throwing 5 1/3 scoreless innings last night.
Insight: We definitely aren't ready to believe that Dave Duncan has turned Suppan into a respectable starter. He needs to do more than win one game against the Pirates.

7/23/2010 7:13:00 PM
Description: Suppan allowed five runs on 10 hits over six innings against the Cubs on Friday.
Insight: Suppan is now 0-6 with a 6.18 ERA this season, and is obviously not a good fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

7/19/2010 10:59:00 AM
Description: Suppan allowed one run on five hits over six innings against the Dodgers on Sunday.
Insight: Suppan still has a 6.05 ERA this season, so he is not a fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

7/1/2010 12:44:00 AM
Description: Suppan allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits over 5.2 innings against Arizona on Wednesday.
Insight: Suppan is now 0-4 with a 6.44 ERA this season, and should be avoided in fantasy leagues. (SportsBuff.com)

6/16/2010 12:31:00 AM
Description: In his first start for the Cardinals this season, Suppan allowed one run on four hits over four innings against Seattle on Tuesday night.
Insight: This outing was encouraging, but Suppan still has a long way to go before he becomes a viable fantasy option in any format. (SportsBuff.com)

6/14/2010 10:09:00 AM
Description: Updating an item from last week, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports the Cardinals plan to add Suppan to their roster on Monday.
Insight: Suppan is line to start on Tuesday against Seattle. He had a 7.84 ERA over 13 appearances for the Brewers this season before being released last week. (SportsBuff.com)

6/10/2010 4:45:00 PM
Description: Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports, via Twitter, that the Cardinals have signed Suppan.
Insight: Suppan was released by the Brewers this week. From 2004-2006 with the Cardinals he had a 44-26 with a 3.95 ERA, but we'd be surprised to see him even get close to that kind of performance again. (SportsBuff.com)

6/7/2010 2:58:00 PM
Description: Tom Haudricourt of the Milwauke Journal Sentinel reports, via Twitter, that the Brewers have released Suppan.
Insight: Suppan had been demoted to the bullpen and his struggles continued, so the Brewers dumped him and will have to eat whatever's left of his $12.5 million salary this season. (SportsBuff.com)

4/15/2010 9:23:00 PM
Description: Updating a previous item, Suppan allowed four runs over five innings against the Cubs in his 2010 debut on Thursday.
Insight: Suppan's $12 million salary precludes him to being in the Brewers' starting rotation for at least a little while, whether his pitching backs it up or not. (SportsBuff.com)

4/15/2010 12:45:00 PM
Description: Suppan (neck) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Suppan will start against the Cubs on Thursday afternoon, but he does not have a lot of fantasy value. (SportsBuff.com)

4/9/2010 11:38:00 PM
Description: Suppan (neck) allowed one run on seven hits over 4.1 innings while pitching for Single-A Wisconsin on Friday.
Insight: Suppan threw 74 pitches, 48 for strikes, while striking out four and walking three. He could return to the Brewers' starting rotation as soon as next week, but that does not make him a good fantasy option. (SportsBuff.com)

4/7/2010 12:36:00 PM
Description: Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, via Twitter, that Suppan (neck) will make a rehab start on Friday in Class A ball.
Insight: If everything goes well, Suppan could return to the Brewers as soon as next week. (SportsBuff.com)

4/6/2010 11:36:00 PM
Description: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Suppan (neck) is expected to pitch in a minor league rehab game later this week.
Insight: Suppan was placed on the DL to start the season due to cervical disc pain in his neck, but could return to the Brewers as soon as next week. (SportsBuff.com)

4/5/2010 8:31:00 PM
Description: MLB.com reports Suppan (neck) expects to return from the DL on April 10, the first day he is eligible.
Insight: Suppan's role on the Brewers' pitching staff, once he is healthy, is unknown. (SportsBuff.com)

3/30/2010 11:48:00 PM
Description: The Brewers have placed Suppan (neck) on the 15-day DL retroactive to March 26 with cervical disc pain.
Insight: Suppan could return as soon as the second week of April, but it is unknown if he'll need to be out longer. He is due to make $12.5 million this season, but does not have the upside of Manny Parra or Dave Bush. (SportsBuff.com)

3/30/2010 2:30:00 PM
Description: Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports, via Twitter, that Suppan (neck) will throw a 90-pitch simulated game on Tuesday to test the neck stiffness that has plagued him throughout the spring.
Insight: Even if healthy, Suppan, who has a 7.71 ERA this spring, should not be on the radar of fantasy owners. (SportsBuff.com)

3/26/2010 12:04:00 AM
Description: Suppan allowed two runs over 4.1 innings against the Dodgers on Thursday.
Insight: Suppan has a 7.71 ERA this spring over 16.1 innings, and there's a possibility he could be released. (SportsBuff.com)

3/9/2010 11:44:00 PM
Description: Suppan gave up three runs on five hits over three innings on Tuesday against the Cubs.
Insight: Even though he is due $12 million this season, Suppan is not guaranteed a spot in the Brewers' starting rotation. The team, if they were to attempt to move him, would probably have to pick up most of that money. (SportsBuff.com)
