Description: Reds starter Johnny Cueto pitched his worse start since May 20, allowing six runs in five and 2/3 innings and losing to the Cubs, 7-0, on Tuesday.
Insight: Cueto obviously did not have his control as he struck out eight but also walked five batters, a season high. To put things in prespective, Cueto walked just seven batters in six starts during the month of May. He is still in the Cy Young conversation, even though Clayton Kershaw is the clear leader, at 18-9 with 2.33 ERA, 228 strikeouts and 0.98 WHIP.

Description: Cincinnati right-hander Johnny Cueto tied Adam Wainwright, Wily Peralta and Clayton Kershaw for the Major League lead in wins Sunday against the Marlins.
Insight: Cueto struck out nine and allowed two runs on five hits in eight innings. If not for Kershaw, Cueto (14-6, 2.05 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) would be the frontrunner for the NL Cy Young Award.

Hot8/5/2014 10:10:00 PM

Insight: Cueto (13-6, 2.04 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) gave up two runs on five hits and struck out six. The right-hander posted a 2.58 ERA in each of the first four months this season and he's off to a good start in August.

Description: Cincinnati right-hander Johnny Cueto was masterful again Saturday, yielding just four harmless hits over seven innings in a 1-0 Reds win over Washington.
Insight: Cueto's ERA is now 2.08 as he notched his 11th victory of the season. He's certainly among the top-three pitchers in the NL.

Description: Cincinnati right-hander Johnny Cueto was at it again Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Insight: Los Angeles managed just three hits in Cueto's six innings of work. If the season ended today, Cueto would be the easy choice for the National League Cy Young Award. He leads the NL in both strikeouts (109) and ERA (1.85) and is second in quality starts (11).

Hot5/9/2014 10:00:00 PM
Description: Cincinnati right-hander Johnny Cueto remained 3-2 despite allowing two runs on five hits in eight innings Friday against Colorado.
Insight: Cueto has a 1.43 ERA and a 0.73 WHIP this season, but he's received very little run support. The right-hander is obviously due for some regression -- he has a .160 BABIP and a 99.5 LOB% -- but he's still an excellent starter who has a 9.71 K/9 and a 2.29 BB/9.

Description: Cincinnati right-hander Johnny Cueto fired eight scoreless innings Sunday against Atlanta.
Insight: The Reds weren't able to score for Cueto (2-2, 1.15 ERA) so he had to settle for a no-decision. Cueto has allowed just one earned run in his last 30 innings pitched (0.30 ERA). He and Julio Teheran, the two starters featured today at Turner Field, might be the two hottest pitchers in baseball right now.

4/5/2014 7:05:00 PM
Description: Reds starter Johnny Cueto has struck out 17 batters in 14 innings over his first two starts.
Insight: Cueto dealt with shoulder irritation late in spring training but he has tossed seven innings in each of his first two starts and allowed eight hits and three earned runs. He made three trips to the DL last year due to a right lat strain and has only thrown 200 innings once in his career, but he has posted a 2.61 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP when he's been on the hill the last three seasons.
