Joe Kelly, SP, BOS7/31/2014 12:54:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals have traded Joe Kelly to the Red Sox along with Allen Craig in a deal for John Lackey. Insight: Kelly has a 4.37 ERA this season and a 3.25 ERA in 266 career innings, but his WHIP is 1.38. He won\'t have fantasy value in the AL.
Allen Craig, RF, BOS7/31/2014 12:51:00 PM
Description: Allen Craig is going to Boston along with Joe Kelly in St. Louis\' trade for John Lackey. Insight: Craig hit .307 or higher in each of the last three seasons, but he\'s batted .237 with seven homers, 44 RBI and a .637 OPS this year. Joining the Red Sox won\'t help his immediate fantasy value. The trade will open up a spot in the Cardinals\' everyday lineup for Oscar Taveras.

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, MIN7/30/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, Teddy Bridgewater is closing the gap between himself and Matt Cassel in the competition for the Vikings\' starting QB job. Insight: Jay Glazer reported earlier this week that Bridgewater has been more impressive than the Vikings expected. If Bridgewater can emerge as a viable NFL starter this season, it would be great for the fantasy value of Adrian Peterson, Cordarrelle Patterson and Kyle Rudolph.
Marqise Lee, WR, JAC7/30/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch has been finding ways to "feed" Marqise Lee, according to the Florida Times-Union. Insight: Cecil Shorts\' hamstring strain has given Lee and fellow rookie Allen Robinson a chance to get more work in practice. Lee has been lining up all over the field. "Marqise has that speed factor," coach Gus Bradley said. "He has a chance to break one and is extremely quick. He’s freakish in his skill set in some of the things he does." Shorts is injury-prone and if he goes down for an extended period of time during the season Lee will have a shot to see a ton of targets from Chad Henne.

 Derrick Rose, G, CHI7/29/2014 9:35:00 PM
Description: Syracuse coach and Team USA assistant coach Jim Boeheim said Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been "the most impressive guy" at Team USA\'s training camp, according to ESPNChicago.com. Insight: Rose missed most of last season with a torn meniscus after sitting out all of the previous season while recovering from a torn ACL. Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, another Team USA assistant, also praised Rose. "The same (speed and explosiveness). The strength in his leg is great. His explosion is back. That\'s all there," Thibodeau said.
Manu Ginobili, SG, SAN7/29/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Spurs guard Manu Ginobili (stress fracture in his right leg) has apparently not been granted permission by the Spurs to play in the FIBA World Cup of Basketball. Insight: Ginobili wanted to play for his country in the World Cup, but only if healthy. After a long and successful playoff run, it\'s not surprising that the team wanted the 37-year-old to rest as much as possible in the offseason.

 Eric Staal, C, CAR7/30/2014 5:39:00 PM
Description: Carolina center Eric Staal suffered a core muscle injury while training and needed to undergo surgery, according to hurricanes.nhl.com. Insight: GM Ron Francis said Staal should be ready for training camp. The 29-year-old had just 21 goals, 40 assists and 230 SOG over 79 games in 2013-14 after generating 18 goals, 35 assists and 152 SOG in 48 games during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.
Tyler Ennis, LW, BUF7/17/2014 3:34:00 PM
Description: The Sabres have signed Tyler Ennis to a multiyear contract extension. Insight: The 24-year-old had a career-high 21 goals and added 22 assists and 210 SOG over 80 games in 2013-14. The talent is lacking in Buffalo so he likely won\'t be much better than that in 2014-15.
