Douglas-Roberts has fantasy potential

Chris Douglas-Roberts is averaging over 34 minutes-per-game.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - New Jersey Nets shooting guard Chris Douglas-Roberts was stuck in a "dead-end" job last year, primarily sitting on the bench watching veteran Vince Carter play big minutes at his position. The 31-year-old Carter averaged 36.8 mpg while "CDR" got on the floor for just 13.1 mpg.

But all that changed over the summer, when the Nets sent Carter to Orlando for Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee, and Tony Battie.

Douglas-Roberts started the first five games this season, before coming down with "swine-flu like" symptoms and missing three games. He has returned to the lineup and on Tuesday night posted career highs in points (27), rebounds (12) and minutes (43:33). And even better news - CDR said he was only at about "80- percent" back.

Instead of 13 minutes-per-game Douglas-Roberts is averaging over 34 minutes- per-game and his fantasy numbers are improving dramatically. CDR is averaging 15.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 1.4 apg playing mostly at shooting guard, but also getting some time at small forward. CDR has scored at least 16 points in five of his last six games.

Obviously, when PG Devin Harris returns from injury, likely Saturday, some of CDR's scoring opportunities will disappear, but he'll also see more open shots as Harris draws the double-team.

The really good news is that Douglas-Roberts is only owned in 29% of all fantasy leagues. Pick him up today and start him tonight against Milwaukee.
