How long will Gallinari's hot streak last?
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari has the reputation of a sharpshooter, but his last 24 games actually represent the best 3-point shooting stretch of his career.

Gallinari has made 43.8 percent from behind the arc on 6.1 attempts and 46.6 percent from the field for 19.7 ppg during that stretch.

The former New York Knick has never shot better than 38.1 percent from 3-point range in a full season (he made 44.4 percent from there in 28 games as a rookie). He's at 37.4 percent through 52 games this season despite his current hot streak.

Keeping him below 40 percent is an ice cold stretch earlier this season in which Gallinari made just 30.7 percent on 3s and 38.5 percent overall.

Slumps like those have been a regular occurrence for Gallinari in his career.

Prior to this season, Gallinari had shot 40 percent from 3-point range in a full month (10 games or more) exactly once since 2009. That came back in November 2009, when he knocked down 40.5 percent in 14 games.

Gallinari actually made 40 percent from 3-point range in both March and April 2010, but he played just six games in each month. He failed to shoot better than 38.9 percent from 3-point range in any month last season.

But the forward has managed to drain 2.7 3-pointers on 6.1 attempts per game since Dec. 26. He has 10 20-point games in that span. Gallinari had eight 20- point games in his first 28 games, but had almost as many single-digit scoring games with seven in that stretch. Gallinari has scored in double figures in 21 straight games and 23 of the last 24.

With 27 games remaining this season, fantasy owners need to decide if Gallinari has suddenly turned into a player who can shoot better than 40 percent from 3- point range in 50 straight games or if a cold streak is coming.

Given Gallinari's middling rebounding numbers (5.5 per game) and the fact that he takes more than 41 percent of his field-goal attempts from downtown, his status as an elite fantasy forward is greatly tied to his ability to hit the 3- ball.

Based on his career inconsistency, it's going to be extremely tough for Gallinari to maintain his hot streak for another two months.
