Running Back Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Andre Ellington, RB, ARI10/22/2014 3:57:00 PM
Description: Cardinals running back Andre Ellington (ribs, foot) was limited during Wednesday's practice session.
Insight: There does not seem to be any issues with Ellington's injuries, putting him on track to be an RB1 this weekend against the Eagles.
Giovani Bernard, RB, CIN10/22/2014 3:52:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Insight: He was most likely limited as a result of taking a few big hits in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis. The injury is not considered serious, making Bernard an RB1 option for Week 8 against Baltimore.
Shonn Greene, RB, TEN10/22/2014 3:12:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene (hamstring) was limited during Wednesday's practice.
Insight: It is a step in the right direction for Greene, as he has failed to practice over the past two weeks. Even if he is able to suit up, Bishop Sankey will most likely lead the team in carries.
Tre Mason, RB, STL10/22/2014 2:14:00 PM
Description: Coach Jeff Fisher stated that "it'll be a week-to-week thing" at running back, as the season progresses.
Insight: This is terrible news for owners who own Tre Mason, Zac Stacy, or Benny Cunningham. Mason shined during Week 7, but it is anybody's guess who will play well moving forward.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JAC10/22/2014 1:59:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart (foot) is expected to return to practice on Wednesday.
Insight: It will most likely be in limited fashion, and Gerhart should be considered questionable at best heading into Week 8. Denard Robinson has earned his carries, and as a result Gerhart will probably be more of a goaline back.
Bryce Brown, RB, BUF10/22/2014 1:13:00 PM
Description: Bills backup running back Bryce Brown was working with the second team in Wednesday's practice according to Bills reporter Mike Rodak.
Insight: Things could, of course, change over the next few days. Brown and Anthony Dixon figure to share the time and we think Brown is the more explosive of the two, but the bigger Dixon is likely to get the goal line work.
Anthony Dixon, RB, BUF10/22/2014 1:10:00 PM
Description: Bills running back Anthony Dixon was working with Kyle Orton and the first team in Wednesday's practice, according to Bill reporter Mike Rodak.
Insight: Dixon and fellow running back Bryce Brown figure to share the time and we think Brown is the more explosive of the two, but the bigger Dixon is likely to get the goal line work.
Darren Sproles, RB, PHI10/22/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) "appears likely" to play in Week 8's contest against Arizona, according to CSN Philadelphia.
Insight: Sproles dodged a bullet by not tearing his ACL, and after getting through Tuesday's practice, it looks like he has a good chance to suit up. Sproles is getting just 5.5 touches per game, so if owners have better options, he is a player that can be kept on the bench.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF10/21/2014 2:15:00 PM
Description: Bills running back C.J. Spiller was placed on injured reserve/designated for return.
Insight: Spiller has a broken collarbone and at the earliest might return for Week 16 if the Bills are still in the playoff hunt. Fantasy owners can safely job him.
Phillip Tanner, RB, BUF10/21/2014 2:00:00 PM
Description: Former Cowboys running back Phillip Tanner has been signed by the Buffalo Bills.
Insight: Not surprising that the Bills would go out an find a running back to replace C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. For fantasy owners he's just insurance behind Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon and has no fantasy value.
Kapri Bibbs, RB, DEN10/21/2014 1:03:00 PM
Description: The Broncos have added a fifth running back to their roster in Kapri Bibbs.
Insight: The pass-happy Broncos don't need that many running backs, but Bibbs was likely a target for other teams dealing with injuries in their backfield.
Antonio Andrews, RB, TEN10/21/2014 12:58:00 PM
Description: The Titans have signed running back Antonio Andrews from their practice squad.
Insight: He'll be behind both Bishop Sankey and Shonn Greene so has little fantasy value. The move could have been made to protect him from getting signed by another team with multiple running back injuries.
Darren Sproles, RB, PHI10/21/2014 12:38:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles (slight MCL tear in his left knee) was practicing Tuesday, according to Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.
Insight: It was a 2-3 week timetable and it appears in may come out on the low side. It will be important to see how he feels on Wednesday and that he continues to improve over the week of practice.
Reggie Bush, RB, DETCold10/21/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush laid another fantasy egg in Week 7, but part of it was he said his ankle was acting up, according to a MLive report.
Insight: Bush is becoming a pretty big bust in 2014 and with the admission that the ankle still isn't healed shouldn't be started. At this point, Joique Bell is ahead of Bush on fantasy depth charts.
Le'Veon Bell, RB, PITHot10/21/2014 11:03:00 AM
Description: Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell continues to show the versatility that makes him a threat in every game.
Insight: It doesn't matter if the Steelers are ahead or behind, Bell is part of the game plan. Monday night he rushed for 57 yards and caught all eight targets for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Arian Foster, RB, HOUHot10/21/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Texans running back Arian Foster posted another 100-yard game Monday night, his fifth such effort in six games this season.
Insight: Fantasy owners are probably a little unhappy Alfred Blue scored the first touchdown of the game, but Foster scored late and posted solid numbers again.
Travaris Cadet, RB, NOS10/21/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: Saints running back Travaris Cadet could see addition work for the next few games with Pierre Thomas sidelined.
Insight: Cadet would likely pick up the receiving work out of the backfield. mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson will continue to man the running game.
Pierre Thomas, RB, NOS10/21/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Saints running back Pierre Thomas left Sunday's game against Detroit with a shoulder injury, and he's expected to miss 2-3 games.
Insight: With Mark Ingram back and Khiry Robinson playing well the running game is taken care of, but Travaris Cadet will probably pick up the receiving work.
Trent Richardson, RB, IND10/20/2014 4:00:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Trent Richardson will have an MRI on the hamstring that forced him out of Sunday's game.
Insight: He's said it was just a tweak and nothing serious, but the results of the MRI will tell us more. Richardson led the Colts with 14 carries and 77 yards in Week 7. If he out for any length of time Ahmad Bradshaw becomes a very good fantasy option.
Bryce Brown, RB, BUF10/20/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Bills backup running back Bryce Brown could end up being the big "winner" after injuries to Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller.
Insight: It's up to Brown and Anthony Dixon to carry the Bills running game for the next few weeks and maybe the next month. We think Brown is the more likely every down back with Dixon the red zone guy.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, DENHot10/20/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman has taken full advantage of the starting opportunity and Montee Ball may not get it back when he returns from injury.
Insight: Hillman rushed 14 times for 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns and caught four balls for 29 yards. Coming on top of last week's 100-yard game, he's going to be tough to move out of the starting lineup.
Frank Gore, RB, SFXCold10/20/2014 10:24:00 AM
Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore turned in another very quiet game - just 20 yards rushing.
Insight: Again falling behind early didn't help, but the 49ers offensive line could do nothing with the Denver defense.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, OAKCold10/20/2014 10:18:00 AM
Description: Once again Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew was ignored.
Insight: MJD saw three carries for six yards and no targets. It's time to let go.
Darren McFadden, RB, OAK10/20/2014 10:17:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden rushed 14 times for 48 yards.
Insight: Not pretty, but at least he's getting the opportunities. Maurice Jones-Drew was supposed to get a larger share of the rushing attempts, but that isn't happening. McFadden is the only fantasy option out of the Raider backfield.
Andre Ellington, RB, ARI10/20/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Cardinals running back Andre Ellington saw another full workload, rushing 24 times and seeing nine targets.
Insight: Ellington rushed for 88 yards (3.7 ypc) and caught six for 72 yards, but failed to get into the end zone. Fantasy owners love the workload as long as his foot injury doesn't get any worse. They can't be happy that backup RB Stepfan Taylor scored twice.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DALHot10/20/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Anther game, another 100-yard day and a touchdowns for Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray.
Insight: He's posted seven consecutive 100-yard games and scored in six of the seven. He's the top fantasy running back through seven games and the only worry for fantasy owners is the heavy workload. He's on pace for 427 rushing attempts and 477 touches.
Andre Williams, RB, NYGCold10/20/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: New York running back Andre Williams posted mediocre numbers again as the Giants starter and has not taken advantage of his opportunity.
Insight: Williams rushed for 51 yards on 18 carries against the Cowboys. That's 35 carries for 110 yards (3.1 ypc) and no touchdowns over the past two games. Rashad Jennings should have no trouble regaining the starting job when healthy.
Branden Oliver, RB, SDC10/20/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Charger rookie running back Branden Oliver was once again the workhorse, but for the first time he didn't produce top numbers.
Insight: Oliver carried the ball 15 times with Ronnie Brown getting just one carry. Unfortunately, he totaled just 78 combined yards and no scores.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KAN10/20/2014 9:20:00 AM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles appears healthy and is back to running as we have come to expect from him.
Insight: Charles rushed 22 times for 95 yards and a score. He wasn't involved in the passing game as much as we'd like, but he's returned to RB1 level.
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF10/20/2014 9:16:00 AM
Description: Bills running back Fred Jackson left Sunday's game against the Vikings with a groin injury and early estimates are from 2-4 weeks.
Insight: The running back had to be carted off the field. With C.J. Spiller out for the season, the Bills will turn to Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR10/19/2014 7:29:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart had 14 carries and 55 rushing yards against the Packers in Week 7.
Insight: Carolina cannot effectively run the ball, which is causing problems in the passing game and on defense. Stewart needs to improve if the Panthers expect to win and if owners expect to continue starting the Carolina running back.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBP10/19/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy had 12 carries for 63 yards and scored for Green Bay on Sunday.
Insight: Lacy is still not getting a ton of work, but he scored and averaged over five yards per carry. Do not give up on Lacy. He is just warming up.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET10/19/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush laid another fantasy egg in Week 7.
Insight: Bush is becoming a pretty big bust in 2014. He carried the ball just four times for 10 yards and caught five passes for 22 yards. At this point, Joique Bell is ahead of Bush on fantasy depth charts.
Mark Ingram, RB, NOS10/19/2014 7:13:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Mark Ingram led the team with 10 carries but only gained 16 yards.
Insight: It was Ingram's first game back from his injury, but it was a big disappointment. Many speculated Khiry Robinson would be involved just as much as Ingram was. That wasn't the case as Robinson only had three carries, but Ingram, obviously, did not take advantage.
Joique Bell, RB, DET10/19/2014 7:11:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Joique Bell had 48 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown against the Saints.
Insight: Although that is an average of below 3.0 yards per carry, Bell looked better than Reggie Bush. Bell is ahead of Bush on fantasy depth charts.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIA10/19/2014 6:54:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller ran for 61 yards on 18 carries against the Bears.
Insight: In the first game since Knowshon Moreno's season-ending injury, Miller was just OK, averaging 3.4 yards per carry. He did add a touchdown.
Matt Forte, RB, CHIHot10/19/2014 6:52:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte scored two more touchdowns against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Insight: Forte had 18 touches for 109 yards. He had a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown. Forte is up there with DeMarco Murray as the best fantasy running back of the first half.
Tre Mason, RB, STLHot10/19/2014 6:35:00 PM
Description: Rookie Tre Mason has become the Rams primary running back.
Insight: Mason rushed 18 times for 85 yards and a touchdown. He's taken over for Zac Stacy who no longer has a role in the offense. Benny Cunningham is the team's receiving back.
Boobie Dixon, RB, BUF10/19/2014 6:34:00 PM
Description: Bills running back Anthony Dixon rushed for 51 yards on 13 carries after C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson left Sunday's game with injuries.
Insight: Spiller could be out for some time with a broken collar bone. Jackson suffered an injury to his groin. Dixon and fellow running back Bryce Brown will be top waiver wire pickups this week if Jackson cannot go in Week 8.
Zac Stacy, RB, STLCold10/19/2014 6:25:00 PM
Description: Say goodbye to any remaining fantasy value for Rams running back Zac Stacy.
Insight: It appears the Rams are ready to hand over the keys to the backfield to rookie Tre Mason. Mason finished with 18 carries for 85 yards and the touchdown and Benny Cunningham did the receiving work. Meanwhile, Stacy and his fantasy owners could only watch.
Antone Smith, RB, ATL10/19/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Falcons backup running back Antone Smith had five touches against the Ravens on Sunday.
Insight: Smith broke his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown at five. It appeared the Falcons were trying to get Smith more involved, but the Atlanta rushing attack was horrible, not giving Smith many opportunities.
Steven Jackson, RB, ATLCold10/19/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: The Falcons rushed for 68 yards against the Ravens and has not had a 100-yard rusher in the last 33 games.
Insight: That almost directly coincides with Steven Jackson's tenure as the starting running back in Atlanta. He has eight carries for 22 yards in Baltimore in Week 7.
Justin Forsett, RB, BAL10/19/2014 6:11:00 PM
Description: Ravens running back Justin Forsett is still the leading rusher for the Ravens.
Insight: He had 23 carries for 95 yards, but Bernard Pierce vultured the one Baltimore rushing touchdown. Forsett is still the guy to owner and start out of the Ravens backfield.
Alfred Morris, RB, WAS10/19/2014 5:49:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Alfred Morris had 18 carries for 54 yards against the Titans on Sunday.
Insight: It was the second worst rushing average, 3.0, Morris has posted this season with the other coming against the Seahawks. He did suffer an ankle injury in the second quarter and played through it, so perhaps that effected Morris' performance.
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN10/19/2014 5:46:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey had 16 carries for 56 yards (3.5 ypc) and nothing in the passing game.
Insight: Sankey has moved into the starting role at running back, but he has done little to prove he deserves to stay there. We would look elsewhere for fantasy running back production.
Ben Tate, RB, CLE10/19/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate was one of the most disappointing fantasy players in Week 7.
Insight: Tate had 202 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games, so to run for only 36 yards on 16 carries against Jacksonville is a huge bust. The Browns did not score a touchdown.
Trent Richardson, RB, IND10/19/2014 5:32:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Trent Richardson led the Colts with 14 carries and 77 yards in Week 7, but also left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return.
Insight: Because the Colts were up 24-0, we don't know if he didn't return because its serious or they just didn't need him with the big lead.
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, IND10/19/2014 5:17:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw scored two touchdowns against the Bengals in Week 7.
Insight: Bradshaw scored a rushing and receiving touchdown. He now has seven scores on the season. Richardson still receives more touches, but Bradshaw gets all the scores, which makes him the better fantasy play.
Trent Richardson, RB, IND10/19/2014 5:13:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Trent Richardson led the Colts with 14 carries and 77 yards in Week 7.
Insight: Richardson is still running with a purpose, and the Colts are rewarding him by keeping him their top back despite the production from Ahmad Bradshaw. Richardson still needs to consistently find the end zone though in order to be considering a true RB1.
Giovani Bernard, RB, CIN10/19/2014 5:11:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard had his worst statistical game of 2014 against the Colts in Week 7.
Insight: Bernard was one of a handful of running backs who had scored at least five points in every single week going into Sunday. Bernard had just seven carries for 17 yards and a negative yard in the passing game.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUFCold10/19/2014 2:37:00 PM
Description: Bills running back C.J. Spiller had to be carted off the field on Sunday against the Vikings. UPDATE: Spiller has been diagnosed with a broke collarbone according to Jason La Confora of CBS Sports.
Insight: Spiller has a shoulder injury. We do not yet know if he will return. Fred Jackson is already out of the game with a groin injury.
Alfred Morris, RB, WAS10/19/2014 2:02:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris has left the game in the second quarter due to a sprained left ankle, but has returned.
Insight: Morris already has rushed the ball 10 times for 40 yards, so if he can stay healthy he could have a heavy workload.
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF10/19/2014 1:52:00 PM
Description: Bills running back Fred Jackson left Sunday's game against the Vikings with a groin injury.
Insight: Jackson is out for the game. The running back had to be carted off the field and his hands were covering his face. This gives C.J. Spiller an obvious fantasy boost.
Alfred Morris, RB, WAS10/19/2014 1:50:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris has left the game in the second quarter due to a sprained left ankle.
Insight: Morris has eight rushes for 34 yards, but his return is questionable.
Ben Tate, RB, CLE10/19/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate was on the injury report with a finger injury, but as expected will be ready for the optioning whistle.
Insight: He is locked and loaded as a low-end RB1 this week against the Jaguars.
Zac Stacy, RB, STLCold10/19/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Rams running back Zac Stacy is active for Week 7, but will likely split time with Bennie Cunningham.
Insight: Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that the team will use the "hot hand" approach at running back, moving forward. The backfield also has rookie Tre Mason who was active for the first time in Week 6.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JAC10/19/2014 12:24:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart (foot) is officially inactive Sunday in Week 7
Insight: Storm Johnson and Denard Robinson are expected to share time and neither is a great fantasy option.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, CAR10/19/2014 12:22:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams' ankle will force him to miss Week 7.
Insight: Williams' absence won't hurt the Panthers as much this weekend with Jonathan Stewart returning to the starting lineup.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR10/19/2014 12:17:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is active against the Packers in Week 7.
Insight: Stewart is a worthy fantasy flier at the FLEX position this week. He will get the bulk of the carries again with DeAngelo Williams and Fozzy Whittaker inactive.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIAHot10/19/2014 12:14:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is active for Week 7 against the Bears.
Insight: With the injury to Knowshon Moreno, Miller has increased value as the every-week starter. He is a solid RB2 versus the Bears.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIAHot10/19/2014 12:03:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller has been dealing with a sore knee that limited him in practice, but there was never a real thought that he wouldn't play Sunday
Insight: With the injury to Knowshon Moreno Miller has top-notch fantasy value. He totaled 94 yards and a score last weekend and has three touchdowns in his last two games.
Ray Rice, RB, BAL10/19/2014 10:27:00 AM
Description: The final decision of whether running back Ray Rice will be reinstated this season will come in mid-November according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Insight: That means Rice could sign with another team and become fantasy relevant just in time for the fantasy playoff run. The running back continues to stress that he did not lie to Roger Goodell when interviewed about the elevator incident and should, at the maximum, be suspended for six games as a first-time offender. La Confora speculates the Colts and Patriots may be interested in Rice, but The Sports Network believes the Panthers are a great fit if their running back cannot get healthy.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUFCold10/18/2014 7:37:00 PM
Description: Bills offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett told ESPN he "wants to continue feeding" C.J. Spiller.
Insight: That slightly puts a damper on Fred Jackon's big game last week. Owners of either Bills running back should continue to expect a split backfield. Spiller played just 12 snaps last week, but in every previous game, he had at least 13 touches. He likely saw only 12 snaps against the Patriots last week because he lost a fumble.
Shonn Greene, RB, TEN10/18/2014 2:10:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene (hamstring) has officially been ruled out for Week 7.
Insight: Bishop Sankey will be the lead back, with Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington mixing in as well.
Montee Ball, RB, DEN10/18/2014 12:15:00 PM
Description: Broncos running back Montee Ball (groin) may not retain his role as the featured back upon his return, according to The Denver Post's Mike Klis.
Insight: He has not played well during the time he has been healthy, and now with Ronnie Hillman running well, it is looking likely that Denver will employ a committee approach. If that is the case, Ball will be a player dependent on scoring touchdowns. Owners should hang onto Ball, and expect him to return Week 9 at the earliest, but may be disappointed in his production for the rest of the season.
Zac Stacy, RB, STLCold10/18/2014 11:48:00 AM
Description: Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that the team will use the "hot hand" approach at running back, moving forward.
Insight: We essentially knew this already, but now that Schottenheimer delcared it, it makes Stacy's value plummet even more. With Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason in the mix, Stacy is a borderline droppable player.
Arian Foster, RB, HOU10/17/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Arian Foster (groin) was a full participant in Friday's practice.
Insight: He is locked and loaded as an RB1 for Monday night's tilt versus Pittsburgh.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DALHot10/17/2014 4:08:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray missed Wednesday's practice but practiced in full Thursday and Friday and is ready to go.
Insight: Considering his workload the first six games, he just needed the extra day off. The last person to start the season with six consecutive 100-yard games was the great Jim Brown. Murray has also scored in five of the six contests. He's the top fantasy running back through six games and will be in Week 7 against the Giants.
Branden Oliver, RB, SDCHot10/17/2014 2:31:00 PM
Description: Charger rookie running back Branden Oliver should be a workhorse again in Week 7.
Insight: Oliver carried the ball 26 times last weekend and the Chargers still don't have a viable option behind him.
Donald Brown, RB, SDC10/17/2014 2:28:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Donald Brown (concussion) has yet to be cleared for practice, so it looks like another good week for Branden Oliver fantasy owners.
Insight: It's always a crapshoot when dealing with concussion and trying to figure out a timetable.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR10/17/2014 2:15:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart has made it three consecutive full days of practice and is now in line for a heavy workload Sunday.
Insight: Stewart has been dealing with a knee problem for most of the season, but he's the healthiest back the Panthers have at this time and the Packers have given up the most rushing yards this season - 927 (154.5 ypg).
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN10/17/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey managed 61 yards on Sunday and will get another chance to shine with Shonn Greene not expected to play in Week 7.
Insight: It wasn't a great afternoon, but Sankey was given 18 carries and with volume comes a chance to produce decent numbers against Washington.
Shonn Greene, RB, TEN10/17/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 7 and hopes to start practicing next week, according to John Glennon of The Tennessean.
Insight: He has 44 carries for 190 yards and one touchdown this season. This was expected, and it gives rookie tailback Bishop Sankey another huge opportunity.
Bilal Powell, RB, NYJ10/17/2014 10:01:00 AM
Description: Jets running back Bilal Powell left Thursday night's game in the second half due to a foot injury.
Insight: Powell is No. 3 on the depth chart behind Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson and has no value for fantasy owners.
Brandon Bolden, RB, NEPCold10/17/2014 9:45:00 AM
Description: New England running Brandon Bolden was a complete non-factor in Thursday's game against the Jets.
Insight: Fantasy owners who picked him up thinking he would take over the Stevan Ridley role were extremely disappointed with his no carries, one-catch effort.
Shane Vereen, RB, NEP10/17/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: New England running back Shane Vereen was the running back to have last night as he posted 43 yards rushing and caught five passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
Insight: We weren't sure how things would play out with Stevan Ridley sidelined, but Vereen saw 11 of 14 running back carries and was a force in the passing game. Brandon Bolden and Jonas Gray were non-factors.
Chris Ivory, RB, NYJ10/17/2014 9:24:00 AM
Description: Jets running back Chris Ivory reappeared after being two ugly games to post 107 yards and a score on 21 carries and catch four balls for 18 yards.
Insight: Ivory was "the guy" with Chris Johnson as an afterthought and we liked what we saw.
James White, RB, NEP10/16/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Patriots rookie running back James White is healthy scratch for Thursday's game against the Jets.
Insight: Some thought he would be mixed in at running back due to the Stevan Ridley injury. However, with rainy conditions at Foxboro, New England is holding White out. Brandon Bolden is in line for more work, with Jonas Gray mixing in as well. Shane Vereen will have the best opportunity to be a RB2 moving forward.
Ben Tate, RB, CLE10/16/2014 6:12:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate was on the injury report with a finger injury, but still practiced in full.
Insight: He is locked and loaded as a low-end RB1 this week against the Jaguars.
Theo Riddick, RB, DET10/16/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Theo Riddick (hamstring) has yet to return to practice and is not going to play this weekend.
Insight: With Reggie Bush likely to join Joique Bell in the backfield, the Lions won't miss Riddick.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET10/16/2014 4:11:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush has now practiced two straight days (limited) and seems to be on track to play Sunday.
Insight: If Bush does play we will be back to a shared situation to the dismay of Joique Bell owners. Bush has not been very good this season, with 302 yards and one touchdown split over five games.
Storm Johnson, RB, JAC10/16/2014 4:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville rookie running back Storm Johnson has been spliting first string reps with Denard Robinson, according to Jaguars beat writer Mark Long.
Insight: Johnson rushed 10 times for 21 yards and a touchdown against the Titans and coach Gus Bradley said that was the plan ... to give him 10 carries. Sounds like a shared situation which won't make either fantasy owner happy.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIAHot10/16/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller has been dealing with a sore knee that limited him in practice, but it shouldn't change his Sunday status.
Insight: With the injury to Knowshon Moreno Miller has top-notch fantasy value. He totaled 94 yards and a score last weekend and has three touchdowns in his last two games.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DALHot10/16/2014 12:42:00 PM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray missed Wednesday's practice due to illness, but was back taking his regular reps on Thursday.
Insight: Considering his workload the first six games, he might just have needed the day off. The last person to start the season with six consecutive 100-yard games was the great Jim Brown. Murray has also scored in five of the six contests. He's the top fantasy running back through six games.
Le'Veon Bell, RB, PIT10/16/2014 12:38:00 PM
Description: Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell's off-the-field issues should not concern fantasy owners for this season.
Insight: Bell's attorney waived his preliminary hearing, but the entire issue isn't likely to be completed until January and it will likely end up effecting next season's fantasy value in the form of a couple of weeks suspension.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR10/16/2014 12:33:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart has made it two consecutive full days of practice and is now in line for a heavy workload Sunday.
Insight: Stewart has been dealing with a knee problem for most of the season, but he's the healthiest back the Panthers have at this time. DeAngelo Williams (ankle) and Mike Tolbert (leg) are out while Darrin Reaves (calf) and Fozzy Whittaker (quad) are questionable at best.
Mark Ingram, RB, NOS10/15/2014 4:29:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Mark Ingram told ESPN that he is ready to go in Week 7.
Insight: Ingram has been fully practicing this week. We expect him to get 12-15 carries this Sunday against Detroit, but the stout Lions defense keeps Ingram a low-end RB2 or FLEX play in his first weekend back.
Ryan Mathews, RB, SDC10/15/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Ryan Mathews is not practicing this week according to the Union-Tribune San Diego.
Insight: Mathews is now one month removed from his MCL sprain, but he still has not begun running. He will return in Week 8 at the very earliest.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET10/15/2014 3:30:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush practiced on Wednesday.
Insight: Bush missed Week 6 mostly as a "precaution" according to Bleacher Report. He is fully expected to play against the Saints much to the dismay of Joique Bell owners. Bush has not been good this season, so it is tough to plug him anywhere but the FLEX position or at RB2 in 12-team leagues or larger.
Matt Asiata, RB, MINCold10/15/2014 2:03:00 PM
Description: Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said he would like to get running back Matt Asiata more touches and rookie Jerick McKinnon fewer touches this week according to WGR.
Insight: Why? Besides the game against the Falcons where Asiata scored three touchdowns, he has not done much to help the team. And even in that game, McKinnon outgained Asiata yardage wise. Asiata has averaged 3.5 yards per carry versus McKinnon's 5.0. The biggest reason for putting Asiata on the field more than the 15 snaps he saw in Week 6 were to help in pass protection. Asiata could continue to score on occasion, but McKinnon is still the back to owe in Minnesota.
Andre Williams, RB, NYG10/15/2014 1:54:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Williams will start again in Week 7 against the Cowboys.
Insight: Williams rushed for 58 yards on 16 carries against the Eagles last week in his first start in Rashard Jennings' absence. That was relatively disappointing, but the Giants fell behind early and were forced to abandon the running game. Williams hopes to be more involved this week, but Dallas has been an underrated defense to start the year.
Rashad Jennings, RB, NYG10/15/2014 1:47:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Rashad Jennings has been ruled out for this Sunday's game against the Cowboys according to NFL Network.
Insight: Jennings just isn't ready yet and the Giants have a Week 8 bye, so coach Tom Coughlin said he hopes to have Jennings back in Week 9. Andre Williams will start again at running back.
Chris Ivory, RB, NYJCold10/15/2014 8:18:00 AM
Description: Jets running back Chris Ivory has disappeared over the last two games.
Insight: The promise of two double-digit fantasy point days to start the season has faded and Ivory can't be started at this point in time.
Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, ATLCold10/15/2014 8:11:00 AM
Description: Falcons running back Jacquizz Rodgers has all but disappeared with the emergence of Antone Smith.
Insight: Smith is doing what Rodgers hasn't been able to do over the past three season, give the Falcons backfield an explosive weapon who can score from anywhere on the field.
Carlos Hyde, RB, SFXCold10/15/2014 7:55:00 AM
Description: San Francisco rookie running back Carlos Hyde hasn't scored since Week 3 and as Frank Gore has gotten more work, the rookie's numbers have suffered.
Insight: Kendall Hunter was the handcuff for Frank Gore, but tore his right knee ACL leaving Hyde. Hyde scored twice in the first two weeks, but his production has slipped since and fantasy should keep him on the bench.
Joseph Randle, RB, DAL10/14/2014 8:54:00 PM
Description: The Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys do not plan to suspend running back Joseph Randle for his shoplifting arrest.
Insight: Randle will be fined between $10,000 and $30,000. Fantasy owners will likely not want to touch Randle this week, but since he is not going to miss any games, owners should consider picking him up. Randle is the handcuff for the overworked DeMarco Murray, who has not played an entire 16-game season in his career.
Zac Stacy, RB, STLCold10/14/2014 8:25:00 PM
Description: Rams coach Jeff Fisher confirmed there was nothing wrong with running back Zac Stacy on Monday night according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.
Insight: Fisher said the team just wanted to use three running backs, and it will likely continue to do so going forward. To make matters worse, Stacy was the least productive Rams' back with just 17 yards on eight carries against the 49ers.
Brandon Bolden, RB, NEP10/14/2014 4:53:00 PM
Description: New England running Brandon Bolden should see an increased workload with the season-ending injury to Stevan Ridley.
Insight: Shane Vereen likely will see more work in the running game along with his receiving, but he's not a workhorse running back and Bolden fits that bill.
Shane Vereen, RB, NEP10/14/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: New England running back Shane Vereen should see an increased workload with the season-ending injury to Stevan Ridley.
Insight: Vereen will likely share the load with Brandon Bolden and perhaps even James White, but the extra work will make Vereen a better fantasy option.
Roy Helu Jr., RB, WAS10/14/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu is putting up decent numbers in the passing game which is good considering he's averaging just 17.5 ypg rushing the football.
Insight: He's combined for 60.5 ypg, but his inability to get into the end zone (1 TD) makes him unplayable in all but ppr leagues.
Mark Ingram, RB, NOS10/14/2014 3:15:00 PM
Description: Saints running back Mark Ingram should regain his starting spot in Week 7, but may share more time with Khiry Robinson than in the past.
Insight: Robinson ran well while Ingram was sidelined and has earned playing time. throw in Pierre Thomas and the three-way split likely makes them all candidates for your fantasy bench.
Joseph Randle, RB, DAL10/14/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill reports second-year running back Joseph Randle was arrested for shoplifting Monday night.
Insight: Randle is Demarco Murray's backup and has rushed 16 times for 113 yards this season. Hard to understand given his half-million dollar salary.
Storm Johnson, RB, JAC10/14/2014 12:01:00 PM
Description: Fantasy owners thought Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson would get a full starter's workload, but apparently that wasn't the plan, according to a Florida Times-Union report.
Insight: Johnson rushed 10 times for 21 yards and a touchdown against the Titans and coach Gus Bradley said that was the plan ... to give him 10 carries. That's bad news for fantasy owners who claimed him off the waiver wire hoping he'd be a full-time starter.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIAHot10/14/2014 11:34:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller's fantasy value jumps up with the surprising news that Knowshon Moreno has been placed on injured reserve due to an ACL tear.
Insight: Miller has scored three times in the past two weeks and additional carries will make him a viable fantasy option and borderline RB1.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, MIA10/14/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno, was a surprise return to the lineup in Week 6, now is a surprise member of the injured reserve after suffering an ACL tear against Green Bay.
Insight: This comes out of the blue as there was no mention of it throughout the game or by the Dolphins. Lamar Miller's value jumps with this news.
Zac Stacy, RB, STLCold10/14/2014 12:30:00 AM
Description: Rams running back Zac Stacy saw eight carries for just 17 yards and two catches for another 17 yards.
Insight: Stacy hasn't gotten the workload he saw in 2013 and that's hurt his fantasy value. He's averaged 10.2 rushing attempts per game versus 20.8 over the final 12 games last season.
Tre Mason, RB, STL10/14/2014 12:29:00 AM
Description: Rookie Tre Mason was finally active for a game and led the team in rushing with 40 yards on five carries.
Insight: He also caught one for 12 yards. Mason is third on the depth chart behind Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham, but itsa nice to see him get on the field and produce.
Frank Gore, RB, SFX10/14/2014 12:16:00 AM
Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore turned in a very quiet game - just 38 yards rushing.
Insight: Falling behind by 14 points didn't help, but he still saw 16 touches and did nothing with them to end his 100-yard game streak at two.
Stevan Ridley, RB, NEP10/13/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Patriots running back Stevan Ridley is officially done for the season.
Insight: He tore both his ACL and MCL, and could have played his final snap with New England, as he will be a free agent after the season. With the uncertainty at running back for the Patriots, owners can target James White and Brandon Bolden on waivers, but need to realize that no tailback is a sure thing. Shane Vereen will see the most increase in playing time, making him a viable RB2, moving forward.
Chris Johnson, RB, NYJCold10/13/2014 6:22:00 PM
Description: It has gotten worse and worse for Jets running back Chris Johnson.
Insight: Johnson has three carries for nine yards as the Jets gained just 31 yards rushing on 15 attempts. Chris Ivory had eight rushes for seven yards. The Jets offense is a disaster. It would be better to stay away from the entire unit.
Storm Johnson, RB, JAC10/13/2014 6:01:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson rushed 10 times for 21 yards against the Titans on Sunday.
Insight: Johnson had his opportunity with a friendly matchup and Toby Gerhart inactive. He was a huge dud. Quarterback Blake Bortles led the team in rushing.
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, IND10/13/2014 5:57:00 PM
Description: Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw caught another touchdown pass on Thursday night against the Texans.
Insight: That makes five touchdown catches for Bradshaw this year. He is the more fantasy productive back for the Colts, but Trent Richardson continues to see the bulk of the carries.
Isaiah Crowell, RB, CLE10/13/2014 5:43:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Isaiah Crowell seems to have moved into the second running back role behind starter Ben Tate.
Insight: Tate rushed for 78 yards and 25 carries and two touchdowns while Crowell gained 77 yards less than half the attempts, 11, on Sunday. Crowell also scored. Terrence West is the odd man out as he did not have a rush attempt against the Steelers.
Eddie Lacy, RB, GBP10/13/2014 5:38:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Eddie Lacy had a quiet afternoon on Sunday.
Insight: He had 14 carries for 40 yards, and did not contribute at all in the passing game. Besides for Week 5, Lacy has been a disappointment thus far, in 2014.
Jeremy Hill, RB, CIN10/13/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill was pretty disappointing in Week 6 against the Panthers.
Insight: Hill rushed eight times for 22 yards. He averaged just 2.8 yards per attempt while fellow running back Giovani Bernard gained 7.6 yards per carry. Hill did score a touchdown to make his day somewhat respectable.
Bernard Pierce, RB, BAL10/13/2014 5:03:00 PM
Description: Ravens running back Bernard Pierce led the team in carries but rushed for only 2.1 yards per attempt.
Insight: This led to an abysmal 32 yards on 15 carries. Justin Forsett was much more productive with 111 yards on 14 rushes. Pierce is not worth owning in most fantasy formats.
Doug Martin, RB, TAM10/13/2014 5:03:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers running back Doug Martin disappeared in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Insight: With the game out of hand early, Tampa Bay had to essentially abandon the running game. Martin finished the day with 11 carries for 45 yards, along with one catch for only three yards. He is no more than a RB3 for now.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, MIN10/13/2014 4:43:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon saw a lot more work than Matt Asiata and is obviously the guy to have on your roster.
Insight: McKinnon rushed 11 times for 40 yards and caught six balls for 42 yards. Not great, but better than the 13 combined yards Asiata put up.
Matt Asiata, RB, MINCold10/13/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: It's clear that Vikings running back Matt Asiata is no longer the focal point of the running game after seeing just 15 snaps and two carries Sunday versus the Lions.
Insight: Asiata was dealing with a groin injury but that had not kept him out of practice. At this point Jerick McKinnon is the guy to roster.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUFCold10/13/2014 4:28:00 PM
Description: Bills running back C.J. Spiller played just 12 of 69 snaps, according to the box score.
Insight: It wasn't long ago that he was supposed to be the fantasy darling who was going to be run until he puked. His fantasy value is minimal these days with Fred Jackson seeing 75 percent of the snaps and 14 touches to six against New England.
Zac Stacy, RB, STL10/13/2014 1:25:00 PM
Description: Rams running back Zac Stacy is listed as probable for the Monday night divisional matchup with the 49ers.
Insight: Stacy hasn't gotten the workload he saw in 2013 and that's hurt his fantasy value. He's averaged 10.8 rushing attempts per game versus 20.8 over the final 12 games last season.
Darren Sproles, RB, PHI10/13/2014 1:13:00 PM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles, who left Sunday night's game, has a slight MCL tear in his left knee, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: It's apparently a 2-3 week timetable for his return. The only good news is the Eagles have their bye next week so Sproles will have a couple of weeks to get healthy and may miss only one or at most two games.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, OAKCold10/13/2014 11:14:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hand surgery) has been available to run, but hasn't gotten much work.
Insight: Sunday he saw four rushing attempts and ran for 30 yards. At this point he's not startable for fantasy owners.
Darren McFadden, RB, OAK10/13/2014 11:12:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden rushed 14 times for 80 yards.
Insight: Maurice Jones-Drew was supposed to get a larger share of the rushing attempts, but that didn't happen. We still don't know what to make of the Raiders backfield and at this time don't recommend either back, but if you must then McFadden is the option.
Branden Oliver, RB, SDCHot10/13/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Charger rookie Branden Oliver was impressive again against Oakland, rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: He carried the ball 26 times and appears that he's turning into a classic workhorse back. He's a must start.
Antone Smith, RB, ATLHot10/13/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Falcons backup running back Antone Smith once again scored from long range - this time on a 41-yard reception.
Insight: The most explosive back in Atlanta isn't Steven Jackson or Jacquizz Rodgers it's Smith who has five touchdowns this season from 54, 38, 48, 74 and 41 yards.
Steven Jackson, RB, ATLCold10/13/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Does anyone besides me wonder why Falcons running back Steven Jackson still has the starting job?
Insight: Jackson rushed for 25 yards on six carries Sunday against Chicago which is above his season average of 3.8 ypc. Isn't it time to give Antone Smith a shot as the starter based on what he's done?
Matt Forte, RB, CHIHot10/13/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte did everything Sunday against Atlanta.
Insight: Forte rushed 17 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns and caught a team-high 10 balls for 77 yards. Forte has 775 yards from scrimmage in six games (129.6 ypg).
Andre Ellington, RB, ARI10/13/2014 10:35:00 AM
Description: Cardinals running back Andre Ellington saw another full workload.
Insight: Ellington rushed for 67 yards on 19 carries and caught six balls, but for just 26 yards.
Alfred Morris, RB, WAS10/13/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris was a non-factor Sunday against the Cardinals with 41 yards on 14 carries.
Insight: Morris had a big day against a weak Jacksonville defense in Week 2, but other than that he's been a disappointment to fantasy owners.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEA10/13/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: Once again the Seahawks forgot they have a stud running back in their backfield.
Insight: Lynch saw just 10 carries for 61 yards and caught one ball for one yard. That's not enough opportunities for one of the game's best running backs.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEA10/13/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: At least Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch saw 20 touches today.
Insight: He only totaled 71 yards and no touchdowns, but the workload was more in tune with what fantasy owners expect.
DeMarco Murray, RB, DALHot10/13/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray rushed for over 100 yards for a sixth straight game.
Insight: The last person to start the season with six consecutive 100-yard games was the great Jim Brown. Murray has also scored in five of the six contests. He's the top fantasy running back through six games.
Andre Williams, RB, NYG10/13/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Giants Andre Williams had the running game all to himself Sunday, but like the rest of the New York offense, failed to deliever.
Insight: Williams rushed for 58 yards on 16 carries. He's likely to get another shot next week against Dallas because starter Rashad Jennings isn't due back until after the Week 8 bye.
LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI10/13/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back LeSean McCoy finally broke out with a 149-yard effort against the Gioants Sunday night.
Insight: He didn't get into the end zone, but he ran like we have come to expect for the first time this season. Not unrelated, the Eagles offensive line dominated the Giants defensive line.
Stevan Ridley, RB, NEP10/12/2014 7:04:00 PM
Description: Patriots running back Stevan Ridley possibly tore his ACL in New England's Week 6 win.
Insight: An MRI is scheduled for Monday, but reports have not been good. If Ridley is sidelined for the rest of the season, Shane Vereen will see an increased workload, and Brandon Bolden will see an increase in snaps as well.
Ben Tate, RB, CLE10/12/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate scored his first two touchdowns of 2014.
Insight: He had 25 carries for 78 yards, and is clearly Cleveland's lead back. Isaiah Crowell did chip in with 11 carries for 77 yards. Tate will continue to be a solid RB2 moving forward.
Le'Veon Bell, RB, PIT10/12/2014 6:28:00 PM
Description: Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell had a solid day in Sunday's loss to Cleveland.
Insight: He had 18 carries for 82 yards, and four receptions for 23 yards. While the yardage total is nice, Bell still only has one touchdown on the season.
Joique Bell, RB, DET10/12/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Joique Bell scored a touchdown in Week 6 versus Minnesota.
Insight: He had 18 carries for 74 yards, making the touchdown huge for fantasy owners. If Reggie Bush is unable to play next week, Bell will maintain his RB2 status.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, DEN10/12/2014 6:03:00 PM
Description: Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman had 100 rushing yards in his first start of the season.
Insight: He did so on 24 carries, and also added three catches for 16 more yards. As long as Montee Ball is out, Hillman will have a great opportunity to produce.
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN10/12/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey managed 61 yards on Sunday.
Insight: Not a great afternoon, but Sankey was given 18 carries. If Shonn Greene is able to return, Sankey will be no more than a RB4.
Giovani Bernard, RB, CIN10/12/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard had a monster game Sunday against the Panthers.
Insight: He had 137 yards on 18 carries, including an 89-yard touchdown run. Bernard left the game with a shoulder injury, but did return. However, while he was out, Jeremy Hill was able to manage a touchdown. Assuming he is healthy, Bernard will be a RB1.
Justin Forsett, RB, BAL10/12/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Ravens running back Justin Forsett produced 111 yards on 14 carries Sunday afternoon.
Insight: He has seemingly taken over the job as Baltimore's lead back. Bernard Pierce did manage a touchdown in garbage time, but Forsett is the tailback for owners to hold on to, as of now.
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF10/12/2014 5:21:00 PM
Description: Bills running back Fred Jackson again received more carries then fellow running back C.J. Spiller in Week 6.
Insight: Jackson only gained 26 yards on 10 carries and caught four passes for 17 more yards, but he did score a rushing touchdown. Jackson is proving he is the better back to own in the Bills backfield.
Stevan Ridley, RB, NEP10/12/2014 3:43:00 PM
Description: Patriots running back Stevan Ridley has left the game with an apparent knee injury.
Insight: Ridley had just 23 yards on 10 carries and one catch for six yards.
Giovani Bernard, RB, CIN10/12/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard has left the game with a shoulder injury after being slammed into the ground by Luke Kuechly in the fourth-quarter.
Insight: Bernard has 115 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, though he gained almost all of it on an 89-yard touchdown gallop. His return is questionable
Theo Riddick, RB, DET10/12/2014 3:33:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Theo Riddick suffered a hamstring injury and will not return to the game.
Insight: He had five receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown before departing. Joique Bell will see an even larger workload.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIA10/12/2014 12:25:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller will have to share carries with returning Knowshon Moreno.
Insight: Miller should still see the majority of the work this week as Moreno will likely be on a snap count. Next week he will be a lot riskier play, but for Week 6 he's still the best Dolphins option.
Joique Bell, RB, DET10/12/2014 12:13:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Joique Bell is active and starting against the Vikings.
Insight: Bell missed last week, but with Reggie Bush inactive, Bell should be in line for a ton of touches. Get him into your lineups, as he is a RB2 on the day.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET10/12/2014 12:11:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush (ankle) is anactive versus Minnesota.
Insight: This comes as no surprise, as Bush failed to practice all week. Joique Bell gets the start, and will have a big workload.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, MIA10/12/2014 12:10:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno is active for Week 6 against the Packers.
Insight: That is interesting because Moreno was limited in practice on Friday. On Thursday, he had problems practicing with a bulky brace on his healed dislocated elbow. We expect him to see around 6-10 touches with Lamar Miller still getting the bulk of the workload.
Shonn Greene, RB, TEN10/12/2014 12:04:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene (hamstring) is out Sunday against Jacksonville.
Insight: This was expected, and it gives rookie tailback Bishop Sankey a huge opportunity to become Tennessee's lead dog. Expect Dexter McCluster to be mixed in as well.
Terrance West, RB, CLE10/12/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Browns running back Terrance West in inactive for Week 6.
Insight: That means Ben Tate should get almost all the running back carries with Isaiah Crowell and his backup.
Storm Johnson, RB, JAC10/12/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson will have a great opportunity against Tennessee.
Insight: He will start and should see the majority of the workload. However, owners beware of Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson stealing some carries on Sunday.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JAC10/12/2014 11:53:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart (foot) is officially inactive Sunday against the Titans.
Insight: Storm Johnson will be the lead back, with Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson being mixed in as well.
Darren Sproles, RB, PHI10/12/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Eagles running back Darren Sproles left Sunday night's game with a left knee injury.
Insight: No word on how serious, but we should know in the next few days. The only good news is the Eagles have their bye next week so Sproles will have a couple of weeks to get healthy.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, DEN10/12/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman will start against the Jets.
Insight: If Hillman can produce early in the game, he could be in line for a big day. However, owners should note that Denver could use the "hot-hand" approach. Look for C.J Anderson and Juwan Thompson to get some snaps as well.
Montee Ball, RB, DEN10/12/2014 11:40:00 AM
Description: Broncos running back Montee Ball (groin) is officially inactive versus the Jets.
Insight: This is no surprise, as Ball is expected to miss a few weeks with the groin injury. Ronnie Hillman will start in his place, and will have a ton of upside.
Darrin Reaves, RB, CAR10/12/2014 11:39:00 AM
Description: Panthers running back Darrin Reaves gets another chance to show his abilities with Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams sitting out Week 6.
Insight: Reaves is also dealing with a hip issue, but Carolina has no one else left to run the ball. he carried it 11 times for 35 yards in Week 5.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR10/12/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart was inactive for Week 5 and couldn't make it to the line for Week 6 either.
Insight: Stewart joins fellow running back DeAngelo Williams on the sidelines. Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya would carry the load in the backfield.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, DEN10/11/2014 3:58:00 PM
Description: Denverbroncos.com reports that the team could use a running back by committee approach against the Jets in Week 6.
Insight: Specifically, the website said the team plans to use the "hot hand". Ronnie Hillman is expected to start, but C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson will also receive carries. That makes none of them very good fantasy plays.
Frank Gore, RB, SFXHot10/11/2014 3:55:00 PM
Description: San Francisco offensive coordinator told CSN Bay Area the team is purposefully limiting running back Frank Gore's carries this season.
Insight: Gore has 77 rushes this season, which is the second-fewest through five games of any season in his career. Gore has been used more in the last two games, getting 24 carries against Philadelphia in Week 4 and 18 attempts versus the Chiefs in Week 5. The 49ers won both those games after starting the year 1-2. It might be hard to turn away from the running game the rest of the season because that is how San Francisco wants to win. Perhaps Carlos Hyde will be more involved going forward, but count on Gore to get his share.
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN10/11/2014 1:21:00 PM
Description: Titans rookie running back Bishop Sankey should lead the team in carries with Shonn Green out with a hamstring injury.
Insight: Where have we heard this before? Even with Greene in the lineup, coach Ken Whisenhunt has said Sankey will be more involved but that hasn't happened yet. Tennessee might be forced to go to Sankey, though, with no Greene, and the Jaguars are a favorable matchup.
Andre Williams, RB, NYG10/11/2014 1:19:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Giants do not trust rookie running back Andre Williams in the passing game.
Insight: Williams has not displayed very good hands catching balls. He has also not shown the ability to pass block. That likely means he will not play much on third down, which makes him a much riskier play against the Eagles this Sunday night.
Joique Bell, RB, DET10/11/2014 10:21:00 AM
Description: ESPN reporter Michael Rothstein predicts Lions running back Joique Bell to receive between 15-to-18 carries against the Vikings this Sunday.
Insight: Reggie Bush is not expected to play, so Bell will be the go-to back for the Lions. Minnesota has allowed the eighth most fantasy points to opponents running backs, so Bell could be in for his best fantasy day of the year.
Mark Ingram, RB, NOS10/11/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Saints running back Mark Ingram will move slowly back into his starting role.
Insight: Ingram is hoping to return in Week 7 after the Saints bye this weekend, but with the emergence of Khiry Robinson, New Orleans has the luxury of not rushing Ingram back into the feature role. Once Ingram does regain the starting position, Robinson is also expected to be more involved than he was before Ingram's injury.
Lamar Miller, RB, MIA10/10/2014 7:53:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is probable for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Insight: Miller was added to the injury report on Thursday with a foot injury. He did, however, practice in full on Friday. He is a bit of a risky play because Knowshon Moreno will likely also play. No one knows for sure how the workload will be divided.
Zac Stacy, RB, STL10/10/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: Rams running back Zac Stacy practiced on Friday after missing Thursday's practice.
Insight: Stacy is dealing with a calf strain, but he should not miss Monday night's game. Still, Benny Cunningham and Trey Watts may see some action, which makes Stacy more of a FLEX play rather than a RB2.
Darrin Reaves, RB, CAR10/10/2014 7:37:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Darrin Reaves is probable for Week 6 against the Bengals.
Insight: Reaves is dealing with a hip issue, but Carolina has no one else left to run the ball. He will likely start with all the injuries at running back for the Panthers. Jonathan Stewart is a game-time decision, but he didn't make it through the second quarter of his last start. Even if Reaves starts, Reaves is not much better than a low-end RB3.
Andre Ellington, RB, ARI10/10/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Cardinals running back Andre Ellington is a solid RB1 despite the quarterback situation in Arizona.
Insight: Ellington probably sees his stock rise because third-string quarterback Logan Thomas might start. The Redskins defense hasn't allowed many fantasy points to opposing backs this year, but they did allowed 225 rushing yards to Seattle at home. Ellington should see more than 20 touches on Sunday.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, MIA10/10/2014 5:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno is listed as probable for Week 6 against the Packers.
Insight: That is interesting because Moreno was limited in practice on Friday. On Thursday, he had problems practicing with a bulky brace on his healed dislocated elbow. Even if he plays, it is a bit risky to count on Moreno getting the bulk of the carries over Lamar Miller in his first game back.
Arian Foster, RB, HOUHot10/10/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: Texans running back Arian Foster added a 109-yard, two TD night onto last weekend's 157-yard game.
Insight: Foster is obviously healthy again which makes him a top-five back in any league.
Trent Richardson, RB, IND10/10/2014 9:33:00 AM
Description: Colts running back Trent Richardson is running hard, but he still dances instead of picking a hole and running through it.
Insight: Richardson rushed for 41 yards and a score on 17 carries. Bradhsaw saw a total of 11 carries and 6 targets, so this continues to be a 50-50 split in the workload.
Alfred Blue, RB, HOU10/9/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Texans receiver Alfred Blue is active for Thursday night's game against the Colts.
Insight: Blue will not get many carries though unless Arian Foster suffers an injury.
Matt Asiata, RB, MIN10/9/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Matt Asiata is listed on the Week 6 injury report, but he is practicing this week.
Insight: Asiata has a groin injury but that has not kept him out of practice. He has a tough matchup in Week 6 against the Lions, but he can still be a viable FLEX start.
Joique Bell, RB, DET10/9/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Joique Bell (concussion) is practicing in full ahead of Week 6.
Insight: With Reggie Bush (ankle) looking unlikely to play, Bell should be in for a major workload. He will be a RB2 with upside this week against Minnesota.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET10/9/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush did not practice on Thursday due to an ankle injury according to the Detroit Free Press.
Insight: Bush can still play Sunday if he practices on Friday, but owners should have a backup plan in case he doesn't suit up. Joique Bell and Theo Riddick are both practicing, so the Lions have options at running back this week.
Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN10/9/2014 4:34:00 PM
Description: Vikings suspended running back Adrian Peterson is facing a possible arrest for violating terms of his bond.
Insight: Peterson admitted to marijuana consumption, before taking a madatory drug test on Wednesday, according to court records. His trial date has been set for December 1st, and it remains unclear if this will have any effect, but is still troubling to hear nonetheless. The chances of Peterson returning to play in 2014, grows smaller and smaller by the day.
Shonn Greene, RB, TEN10/9/2014 3:59:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene was unable to practice Thursday and his availability could come down to Friday's practice.
Insight: If Greene is a no-go, that adds to Bishop Sankey's fantasy value in a favorable matchup against a weak Jacksonville defense.
Donald Brown, RB, SDC10/9/2014 3:57:00 PM
Description: Chargers running back Donald Brown missed another practice due to a concussion and is almost certainly going to miss Week 6.
Insight: Thus adds more value to Branden Oliver with only "newly-acquired" Ronnie brown as a backup.
Juwan Thompson, RB, DEN10/9/2014 3:42:00 PM
Description: Denver backup running back Juwan Thompson was back at practice Thursday, according to Broncos beat reporter Jeff Legwold.
Insight: Thompson saw more work than C.J. Anderson in Week 5 and as a bigger back than Ronnie Hillman, might see some goal line carries.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, CAR10/9/2014 1:29:00 PM
Description: Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart was inactive for Week 5, but returned to the practice field Thursday, according to beat writer Steve Reed.
Insight: Stewart has a better chance than fellow running back DeAngelo Williams to return Sunday. Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya would carry the load in the backfield if Stewart isn't ready. Given Stewart's injury history, fantasy owners should not count on him.
Ronnie Hillman, RB, DEN10/9/2014 12:12:00 PM
Description: Denver running back Ronnie Hillman will be the starting tailback, according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Hillman isn't thought of as an every down back, but its Hillman, C.J. Anderson or rookie Juwan Thompson. At least for one week, Hillman may be fantasy worthy.
Toby Gerhart, RB, JACCold10/9/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart has been dealing with a foot issue, but it hasn't and isn't expected to keep him out of the game.
Insight: Herhart has been a huge disappointment this season and at this point the Jaguars seem to be looking at their other options, including Storm Johnson.
Andre Ellington, RB, ARI10/8/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: Cardinals running back Andre Ellington was limited in Wednesday's practice because of his foot.
Insight: Ellington has not fully practiced all season because of his foot, so this really isn't a concern. Washington is a tough matchup, but Marshawn Lynch gained over 100 yards of offense and caught a touchdown pass, so Ellington is a low-end RB1 or high-end RB2.
Ben Tate, RB, CLE10/8/2014 6:03:00 PM
Description: Browns running back Ben Tate is fully practicing this week.
Insight: Tate finally returned to action against the Titans last week and rushed for 123 yards on 22 carries. Tate is a low-end RB1 this week against the Steelers. Tate averaged 6.8 yards per rush against Pittsburgh in Week 1.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, MIN10/8/2014 6:01:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon is fully practicing this week.
Insight: McKinnon's ankle injury is not a concern for his status in Week 6. McKinnon and the Vikings, however, have a tough matchup against the Lions.
Reggie Bush, RB, DET10/8/2014 3:24:00 PM
Description: Lions running back Reggie Bush was held out of practice on Wednesday.
Insight: He is dealing with an ankle injury, and his status is up in the air. Bush downplayed the injury, but owners will need to see some progress, as the week progresses. Joique Bell returned to practice for Detroit, but is still in the concussion protocol.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, MIA10/8/2014 12:51:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (elbow) is back at practice Wednesday.
Insight: He is wearing a brace protecting his dislocated elbow, but it's a great sign he is back on the practice field. It is hard to determine who will see the majority of carries between him and Lamar Miller, but a timeshare should be expected. If Moreno suits up, he should be viewed as a RB3 with RB2 upside.
