Description: Philadelphia center Nerlens Noel gave Sixers fans and fantasy owners a first glimpse of his ability in Saturday's summer league contest.
Insight: The 20-year-old, who sat out the entire season after ACL surgery, played 26 minutes and posted 19 points, two rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block. Most important he looked healthy. He could see plenty of court time in 2014 and could end up being a mid-round fantasy value.
Description: The Sixers took a chance on Kansas center Joel Embiid with the third pick in Thursday's NBA Draft.
Insight: Embiid was supposed to go No. 1 to Cleveland but the Cavs were scared away by his foot injury. When Embiid gets healthy, he and Nerlens Noel will form one of the league's best young low post duos.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams underwent surgery to repair the labrum of his right shoulder, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.
Insight: Carter-Williams was named NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday. The NBA season took its toll on MCW, costing him 12 games due to a left foot bruise, a knee infection and a sore shoulder. However, he finished strong with averages of 17.8 points on .512 shooting, 7.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.5 steals over his last 10 games. With two picks in the lottery, the 76ers' roster should be much improved next season as Carter-Williams tries to improve upon his 16.7 ppg on .405 shooting, 6.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Description: Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams was announced Monday as the NBA's 2013-14 Rookie of the Year. SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: He's only the third rookie in NBA history to average at least 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. MCW isn't a good shooter (40.5 percent) and he can be a bit turnover-prone (3.5 turnovers per game) but his versatility still makes him a strong fantasy asset. At age 22, he's only going to get better.
Description: Philadelphia guard Michael Carter-Williams had another near triple-double Saturday in a loss to Charlotte.
Insight: MCW finished with 23 points, seven boards and eight assists. When Carter-Williams (16.7 ppg, 6.3 apg, 6.1 rpg, 1.9 spg) inevitably wins NBA Rookie of the Year, he'll be the highest draft pick to win the award since Mark Jackson in 1988.
Description: Philadelphia guard Tony Wroten expects to return Saturday against the Pistons. SOURCE: Brian Seltzer, 97.5 The Fanatic
Insight: A sprained ankle has kept him out for the last three games. The Sixers have a chance to make history tonight: another loss would give them 27 in a row, the longest losing streak in NBA history.
Description: Sixers swingman James Anderson had 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting (6-11 3PT) Thursday at Houston.
Insight: Anderson has scored 66 points on 23-of-34 shooting (12-19 3PT) in two games against the Rockets, the team that waived him last July, this season. He's had just one other game with 20+ points in 2013-14.
Description: Philadelphia center Henry Sims has logged two straight double-doubles.
Insight: Sims had 18 points, 15 boards and two blocks in 31 minutes Saturday at Chicago. He has averaged 26.4 minutes, 10.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks over his last 11 games.
Description: With 28 points Saturday at Chicago, Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young had his sixth straight contest with at least 20 points.
Insight: The 76ers have something in common with fantasy owners: both don't care about wins and losses. Young has produced 21.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.7 spg and 1.7 3pg in 15 games since the team traded Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner at the trade deadline. Of course, the Sixers have compiled 24 straight losses.
Description: 76ers guard Tony Wroten sprained his ankle Friday in a loss to New York. He's already been ruled out for the team's upcoming three-game road trip. SOURCE: Chris Vito, Delaware County Daily Times
Insight: That means the earliest he could play again is next Saturday against the Pistons. Expect Hollis Thompson (5.8 ppg) to start in his place.
Description: Sixers swingman James Anderson will return to the lineup Friday after missing the last two games with a bruised thigh. SOURCE: Tom Moore, Bucks County Courier Times
Insight: Tony Wroten (13.5 ppg) will remain in the starting lineup with Hollis Thompson (5.8 ppg) heading back to the bench. Anderson's scoring average in March (12.5 ppg in eight contests) is his highest of the season.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams delivered 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting Wednesday in a loss to the Bulls.
Insight: But more importantly, he had nine rebounds and seven assists, putting him within striking distance of his third triple-double of the season. Wednesday was the Sixers' 22nd loss in a row. That's a new franchise record.
Description: Philadelphia forward Thad Young had another brilliant outing Saturday against Memphis (20 points, seven rebounds, six steals).
Insight: Of course, the result was the same as the Sixers lost for the 20th time in a row. The four three-pointers Young hit were his most since December 28th against Phoenix. It doesn't get any easier for the Sixers as their next game is Monday against the conference-leading Pacers.
Description: Sixers power forward Thaddeus Young has averaged 20.6 ppg, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.6 steals in 10 games since the trade deadline.
Insight: The 76ers traded Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes and Lavoy Allen at the deadline, leaving Young as one of the only competent players left on the roster. He has taken advantage of the larger role. In 45 minutes Friday against the Pacers, Young had 25 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Description: Philadelphia shooting guard James Anderson has produced 17.5 ppg, 4.0 3pg, 3.0 rpg and 2.3 apg his last four games.
Insight: Anderson had 17 points, three assists, two rebounds and five triples in 31 minutes Wednesday against Sacramento. His long-range shot has really come along over his last 11 games as he has made 2.8 threes per game in that span. He made just 1.1 threes per game with a .299 3P% his first 53 games.
Description: Philadelphia center Nerlens Noel (torn ACL) is not expected to play this season. SOURCE: Marc Narducci, Philly Inquirer
Insight: He was hoping to return on April 4th so he could debut against his hometown Celtics but that was always a bit of a longshot. Noel is definitely a part of the team's plans, just not this season.
Description: Sixers coach Brett Brown thinks practicing 5-on-5 by the end of the season is a realistic goal for Nerlens Noel (knee), according to beat writer Chris Vito.
Insight: Noel hasn't played since tearing his ACL at the University of Kentucky over a year ago, but a tweet he sent out Sunday indicated that he was targeting April 4 for a return. However, Brown's comments Tuesday suggest that the center won't be back this season.
Description: Sixers guard Michael Carter-Williams produced his second career triple-double Monday in a loss to New York.
Insight: Carter-Williams finished with 23 points, 13 boards and ten assists. As bad as the 76ers have been lately (17 straight losses), Carter-Williams is still a leading candidate for Rookie of the Year.
Description: Nerlens Noel hinted on his Twitter account that his Sixers debut could come April 4th against Boston.
Insight: Noel hasn't played since tearing his ACL at the University of Kentucky over a year ago. He's not a big time scorer but when healthy, Noel can be a dominant shot blocker. When Noel comes back, he'll likely be on a minutes limit.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams has made just 21-of-72 (.292) from the field over his last five games.
Insight: MCW's shooting percentage slipped under 40 percent for the season during this recent slump. He made just 2-of-13 from the field and had four points Saturday against the Jazz, though he did add nine assists, seven rebounds and five steals.
Description: Sixers guard Tony Wroten will come off the bench Wednesday night, according to beat writer Tom Moore. Philadelphia will start James Anderson in his place.
Insight: The move won't change Wroten's fantasy value. With Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes gone, the 76ers have plenty of minutes to fill and Wroten is one of the only competent players they have. He has averaged 25.6 minutes, 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists his last 10 games.
Description: The Sixers keep losing, but that hasn't stopped Thaddeus Young from putting up great numbers. He was brilliant again Monday in a loss to Milwaukee.
Insight: Young shot his way to 28 points in 34 minutes of court time. He also contributed seven assists, six steals and five rebounds. Young (17.5 ppg) is having his best season and needs to be starting in all formats.
Description: Sixers forward Thad Young had a night for the ages Friday against Dallas.
Insight: The Sixers still lost but at least this one was somewhat close (124-112). According to ESPN Stats and Information, Young is the first player to record at least 30 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and seven steals in a game since Hakeem Olajuwon did it in March of 1987. Young has another juicy matchup waiting for him Monday against the Bucks.
Description: The Sixers are considering buying out the rest of Danny Granger's contract. SOURCE: Chris Vito, Delaware County Times
Insight: General manager Sam Hinkie was noncommital on the subject Friday though buying out Granger seems like it would be the right move. Granger was reportedly furious he was traded to Philadelphia and it's clear he wouldn't be part of the team's rebuilding process. Granger (8.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg) won't be in action Friday versus Dallas.
Description: The Sixers landed Danny Granger Thursday as part of a three-player swap. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: You have to feel for Granger here. After eight and a half years in Indiana, Granger (8.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg) goes from the best team in the Eastern Conference to the second-worst. It's actually good for fantasy owners though as Granger should see more playing time in Philly than he did with the Pacers.
Description: The Clippers sent Byron Mullens to Philadelphia Thursday for a second-round pick. SOURCE: Brad Turner, Los Angeles Times
Insight: Heading to talent-starved Philly will certainly improve Mullens' fantasy potential. Though he barely played in Los Angeles, Mullens should have a significant role now that Spencer Hawes has been traded to Cleveland. If you're looking for a big man who can give you ten and five, Mullens seems like a no-brainer.
Description: Sixers backup PF Arnett Moultrie (ankle) will play Sunday night against the Clippers, making his season debut, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: Moultrie missed the entire season due to an ankle injury and conditioning issues. He averaged 9.4 points and 7.0 rebounds in his last five games last season but doesn't need to be added in fantasy leagues.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams was a game-time decision Monday due to a shoulder injury, but he ended up playing 36 minutes and scoring 21 points against the Nets.
Insight: Sixers coach Brett Brown attributed the injury to the typical wear and tear of the NBA season, and resting him Monday would have been a strictly precautionary move by a team that is playing for the future.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams will play on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets, according to coach Brett Brown. He’s dealing with a shoulder injury.
Insight: Sixers coach Brett Brown said the injury wasn't a result of one incident, but rather the regular wear and tear of the NBA season. The 76ers are playing for the future and have shown they have no problem sitting Carter-Williams to rest minor ailments, but it appears he will get on the floor tonight.
Description: SPhiladelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams will be a game-time decision Monday against the Brooklyn Nets, according to csnphilly.com. He’s dealing with a shoulder injury.
Insight: Sixers coach Brett Brown said the injury wasn't a result of one incident, but rather the regular wear and tear of the NBA season. The 76ers are playing for the future and have shown they have no problem sitting Carter-Williams to rest minor ailments. Tony Wroten has been successful as a starter when Carter-Williams has been out this season.
Description: Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams won't be in the lineup Saturday against Detroit. SOURCE: Keith Pompey, Philly Inquirer
Insight: He's out with a sore shoulder. Backup point guard Tony Wroten played well when MCW was sidelined with a knee infection a couple months ago. If Wroten (12.4 ppg) is available on waivers, we'd recommend scooping him up now before someone else does.
Description: Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes' 20 points Wednesday at Boston were his most since Dec. 21.
Insight: He had his highest scoring game of January on Monday with 18 points, and he exceeded that total one game later. Hawes has averaged 12.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.9 blocks, 0.9 steals and 1.6 threes this month.
Description: Sixers power forward Thaddeus Young flirted with a triple-double Saturday against the Thunder.
Insight: Young had 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals in the loss. After averaging 25.6 points on .559 shooting from Dec. 20 to Jan. 6, Young has cooled off considerably with just 13.6 ppg on .379 shooting his last 10 games. However, he has kept his fantasy value high by picking up 3.4 thefts per game in his last eight contests.
Description: Evan Turner torched the Knicks for 34 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday in a 110-106 Sixers win.
Insight: Turner had 28 points combined in his previous three contests. It's good to see him get back on track after a rough stretch. Turner should be worth a start in his next game Friday against the Raptors.
Description: Philadelphia SG/SF Evan Turner could see time at backup PG, according to coach Brett Brown.
Insight: Turner has cracked the 20-point mark just once in the past eight games and putting the ball in his hands might be just the thing to break him out of the slump. Backup PG Tony Wroten figures to be sidelined for a while.
Description: Michael Carter-Williams had 31 of Philadelphia's 31 points Monday against the Wizards.
Insight: Carter-Williams is one of seven players in the NBA, along with Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Nicolas Batum, James Harden, Lance Stephenson and Russell Westbrook, averaging at least 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. He's at 6.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds to go with 17.5 points, 2.5 steals, 1.0 threes and 0.6 blocks per game.
Description: Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes has averaged 16.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.3 threes and 1.0 blocks over the last three games. He had 17 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, three triples and one rejection Wednesday against Charlotte.
Insight: Hawes' production has fallen off from what he put up the first three weeks of the season, but he's still a very good fantasy center.
Description: Sixers guard Tony Wroten (flu-like symptoms/migrane) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: He's proved to be a capable fill-in when Michael Carter-Williams has been out this season and has averaged 24 minutes, 13.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 threes in seven games since MCW returned to the lineup. It's much tougher to start him when Carter-Williams is healthy, but not impossible.
Description: Sixers guard Tony Wroten (illness) will miss Monday's game against the Timberwolves, according to beat writer Chris Vito.
Insight: Wroten is dealing with flu-like symptoms and a migraine. He's proved to be a capable fill-in when Michael Carter-Williams has been out this season and has averaged 24 minutes, 13.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 threes in seven games since MCW returned to the lineup.
Description: Philadelphia rookie Michael Carter-Williams is probable for Monday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: MCW took a blow to the head at the end of Saturday's win over Portland, but it appears he didn't suffer a concussion and is ready to go Monday night. The 22-year-old is a leading candidate for ROY averaging 17.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 7.2 apg.
Description: Sixers power forward Thaddeus Young has averaged 25.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 3.0 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.2 threes over his last six games.
Insight: Young reportedly requested a trade in late December and his trade value is at an all-time high. The same goes for his fantasy value. Young is averaging a career-high 17.9 ppg as well as 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals. He's added 3-point range to his arsenal this season, hitting 41.2 percent of his 2.3 attempts per game after making 33.2 percent on 0.8 attempts his first six seasons.
Description: Philadelphia rookie Michael Carter-Williams came on strong with 27 points, six rebounds and six assists Saturday against Phoenix.
Insight: MCW also padded his league-leading steal total with four more thefts. It looks like the 22-year-old has a bright future in Philly. So far, Carter-Williams leads all rookies in scoring (18.1 ppg), rebounding (5.5 rpg) and assists (7.7 apg).
Description: Sixers power forward Thaddeus Young turned in a second consecutive 30 point/10 rebound outing Saturday in a loss at Phoenix.
Insight: Young made headlines about a week ago when it was reported he had requested a trade. Young later refuted the claim and has now scored 25 or more in each of his last three contests. Fantasy owners can't afford to sit Young while he's this hot. Make sure he's in your lineup Sunday against the Lakers.
Description: Philadelphia small forward Evan Turner (sore knee) will not play Saturday, according to Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News.
Insight: Sixers coach Brett Brown expects Turner to play Sunday night, but he also expected him to play Saturday and he wasn't able to go. The 25-year-old is averaging a career-high 19.3 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 4.0 apg and 1.0 spg.
Description: Sixers G/F Evan Turner made 13-of-22 from the field, including the game-winner as time expired in overtime, and had 29 points, 10 rebounds and five assists Friday against the Nets.
Insight: Turner averaged 21.5 ppg over his first 19 games of the season, but his average dropped to 13.3 ppg over his previous seven games. His swoon coincided with Michael Carter-Williams' seven-game absence due to a knee injury and his big game Friday came in MCW's first game back in the lineup.
Description: Sixers guard Michael Carter-Williams will play in Friday's game versus Brooklyn, according to 76ers beat writer Christopher Vito.
Insight: He's practiced fully the last two days and looks ready to go after missing seven games with a knee infection. When healthy, Carter-Williams (17.7 ppg, 7.3 apg, 5.8 rpg) has been the most productive rookie in the NBA this season.
Description: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young has requested a trade from the 76ers, according to SB Nation's libertyballers.com.
Insight: Young actually submitted a formal trade request weeks ago. "Thad is ready to leave Philly," a source close to Young said. "He isn't with the whole tanking thing." Young is averaging 33 minutes, 15.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game this season but his playing time may dip depending on where he lands.
Description: Sixers guard Michael Carter-Williams is probable for Friday's game versus Brooklyn. SOURCE: Delaware County Times
Insight: He's practiced fully the last two days and looks ready to go after missing seven games with a knee infection. When healthy, Carter-Williams (17.7 ppg, 7.3 apg, 5.8 rpg) has been the most productive rookie in the NBA this season.
Description: Philadelphia rookie Michael Carter-Williams (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, but coach Brett Brown says he is, "Not sure," if MCW will play Friday against Brooklyn.
Insight: A skin infection on Carter-Williams' right knee has kept him out for the last seven games. He's been a top fantasy option when healthy and still is the frontrunner for the NBA Rookie of the Year.
Description: Philadelphia backup point guard Tony Wroten may have a future even when Michael carter-Williams returns to the lineup.
Insight: According to a report in the Delco Times, 76ers coach Brett Brown wants to put them both on the floor at the same time with Wroten at shooting guard. If you haven't picked him up, (he's owned in just 27 percent of Yahoo leagues) this might be a good time to take a flier on him.
Description: Philadelphia guard Tony Wroten had 18 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two threes Saturday against Portland.
Insight: Michael Carter-Williams is the frontrunner for NBA Rookie of the Year, but his injuries have allowed the 20-year-old Wroten to show what he can do. He's averaging 18.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds in his 10 starts this season.
Description: According to ESPN, 76ers coach Brett Brown said after Wednesday's shootaround that PG Michael Carter-Williams (knee) will miss his fourth straight game Wednesday at Minnesota.
Insight: Carter-Williams is dealing with a bacterial skin infection in his right knee. He traveled with the team for its two-game road trip and will continue to do so but won't play until his infection is gone and his knee has healed. That leaves him without a definitive return date. Tony Wroten has put up fantasy-worthy numbers as a starter this season and should be added in most leagues for a short-term boost.
Description: Sixers coach Brett Brown said that point guard Michael Carter-Williams (knee) would travel with the team for its two-game road trip that starts Wednesday at Minnesota, according to Christopher A. Vito of delcotimes.com.
Insight: Carter-Williams has missed three straight games due to a bacterial skin infection in his right knee. He's questionable for Wednesday.
Description: Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams (knee) will not play Monday, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: Carter-Williams has a bacterial skin infection in his knee and just spent four days in the hospital. He rejoined the team Monday but was limping during shootaround and should be considered questionable for Wednesday's game. Replacement Tony Wroten has averaged 36.5 minutes, 19.8 points, 5.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals in six starts this season.
Description: Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams is in the hosptial with a knee infection. SOURCE: Chris Vito, Delaware County Daily Times
Insight: Obviously, Carter-Williams won't be playing Saturday against Denver. Backup point guard Tony Wroten will be worth rostering if this ends up being a lengthy absence for the rookie out of Syracuse.
Description: Philadelphia power forward Thaddeus Young is playing Saturday versus Denver. SOURCE: Tom Moore, Bucks County Courier Times
Insight: Young was a game-time call because of a sore glute muscle. He's averaging almost 16 ppg this season. Lavoy Allen would see most of the playing time at the four if Young were to get re-injured.
Description: Philadelphia guard Tony Wroten had 21 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, one steal and one block in 35 minutes Friday at Charlotte.
Insight: Wroten started in place of the injured Michael Carter-Williams, who missed the game with a knee injury. The 20-year-old Wroten has been superb as a starter this season, posting averages of 19.8 points, 6.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in five games.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams (sore right knee) will miss Friday's game, according to Jeff Skversky of WPVI Philadelphia.
Insight: Carter-Williams (17.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 7.3 apg, 3.1 spg, 1.5 threes per contest) did not travel with the team to Charlotte. Tony Wroten, who has averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in four starts this season, will start in MCW's place Friday.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams has been playing through a right knee injury. SOURCE: Christopher Vito, Delaware County Daily Times
Insight: Carter-Williams admitted after Tuesday's game that his knee isn't feeling 100 percent, claiming he first injured it Sunday against Detroit. If MCW can't go Friday versus Charlotte, Tony Wroten would get the start at point guard.
Description: Sixers guard Michael Carter-Williams notched his first career triple-double Tuesday in an overtime win over Orlando.
Insight: He finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds and ten assists. It's the first triple-double by a 76ers rookie since Andre Iguodala had one in 2005. Fantasy owners can't be thrilled with all the turnovers (seven on Tuesday) but overall, Carter-Williams' career is off to an impressive start.
Description: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young will return to the starting lineup after coming off the bench on Wednesday. SOURCE: Tom Moore, Bucks County Courier Times
Insight: He was terrific Wednesday after missing three games for personal reasons (26 points on 9-of-15 shooting). He's averaging 32.1 mpg this season and should see at least that much playing time against the Pelicans on Friday night.
Description: Philadelphia guard Tony Wroten will be active for Friday's game against Toronto. SOURCE: Tom Moore, Bucks County Courier Times
Insight: Wroten (12.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.4 apg) had been questionable because of a strained back. He's having a strong season but we'd expect his production to fall a little now that Michael Carter-Williams is back from a foot injury.
Description: Sixers guard Tony Wroten (strained back) is questionable for Friday's game against New Orleans.
Insight: Wroten (12.6 ppg, 3.4 apg) saw some run earlier in the year when Michael Carter-Williams was out with a foot injury. Now that MCW is back to 100 percent, Wroten shouldn't be much of a factor in fantasy even when healthy.
Description: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young played 28 minutes off the bench and had 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting with eight rebounds in his return to the lineup Wednesday at Orlando.
Insight: Young had missed the Sixers' previous three games while dealing with a personal issue, and coach Brett Brown opted to bring him off the bench. Young made 2-3 from 3-point range this season but has just seven makes on 18 attempts in 13 games.
Description: Sixers guard Tony Wroten (strained back) won't be on the floor Wednesday versus the Magic. SOURCE: Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: Wroten (12.6 ppg, 3.4 apg) saw some run earlier in the year when Michael Carter-Williams was out with a foot injury. Now that MCW is back to 100 percent, Wroten shouldn't be much of a factor in fantasy.
Description: 76ers center Spencer Hawes is out for Saturday's game against Indiana because of a sore knee. SOURCE: Keith Pompey, Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: This will be Hawes' first absence of the season. Hopefully he'll be able to return quickly. Hawes has posted a double-double in four of his last five games, averaging 18.2 ppg and 9.8 rpg over that span.
Description: Sixers G/F Evan Turner had 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting with six rebounds, three assists and one steal Friday against Milwaukee.
Insight: Turner has continued to churn out 20-point efforts despite making just six of his 34 3-point attempts (.176) all season. He's taking 17.5 shots and 5.6 free throws per game, up from 12.8 land 2.5 last season.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Tony Wroten suffered a lower-back strain Friday against the Bucks.
Insight: He's done for the night. The guard obviously had more fantasy value when Michael Carter-Williams was out, but he came into Friday averaging 27 minutes, 13.3 points, 3.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game before playing 11 minutes Friday.
Description: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young (personal) will miss a second straight game Friday, according to beat writer Tom Moore.
Insight: Young is averaging 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game this season. Sixers coach Brett Brown said the team will give Young "time and space, and are here when he is ready to return."
Description: Philadelphia shooting guard James Anderson has scored in double figures in four of his last five games.
Insight: One of those games was a career-high 36 points. He had 13 points, five rebounds, one steal and three threes Wednesday against Toronto and should continue to get more than 30 minutes per game as the 76ers' starting two-guard.
Description: Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes briefly left Wednesday's game after banging his knee but he returned and finished with 28 points, 10 boards, three assists, one block and three triples in 37 minutes against the Raptors.
Insight: Hawes continues to get huge minutes and produce the best numbers of his career by far. The 7-foot-1 center added a consistent 3-point shot to his arsenal and has made 1.8 per game while averaging a 15-10 double-double and nearly two blocks per game.
Description: According to beat writer Tom Moore, 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams will play Wednesday without a minutes restriction.
Insight: MCW has missed the last four games due to a sprained foot. He's been a strong fantasy player this season, averaging 17.4 points, 7.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.9 threes per game.
Description: Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams is expected to miss the final game of the team's three-game road trip because of a sore foot.
Insight: The earliest we will likely see Carter-Williams back in uniform is Wednesday against the Raptors. Tony Wroten is averaging 38 minutes over the past three games as his replacement and posting very good numbers (19.6 ppg, 6.3 apg, 4.3 rpg).
Description: Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams is expected to miss the remainder of the team's three-game road trip because of a sore foot. SOURCE: Philadelphia Inquirer
Insight: There's two games left on it, which means the earliest we'd see Carter-Williams back in uniform is Wednesday against the Raptors. Tony Wroten has done an admirable job filling in for him over the last two contests (20 ppg, 8.5 apg in that span).
Description: Sixers guard James Anderson went off for a career-high 36 points in a win Wednesday over the Rockets.
Insight: Anderson was unconscious from deep, pouring in 6-of-8 from downtown. He also contributed five rebounds and a trio of steals. Anderson had been averaging just 6.9 ppg heading into tonight's contest.
Description: Updating a previous item, 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams was a late scratch Wednesday against Houston. SOURCE: Chris Vito, Delaware County Daily Times
Insight: Carter-Williams hurt his knee earlier in the week. The injury isn't considered serious so it looks like the Sixers are just playing it safe. Tony Wroten ended up getting the start at point guard.
Description: Philadelphia point guard Michael Carter-Williams missed Tuesday's practice due to a sore foot, according to Tom Moore of buckscountycouriertimes.com.
Insight: It was a precautionary move so MCW should play Wednesday against the Heat. The 22-year-old is coming off his worst game of the season Monday in which he shot 2-of-11 for eight points. However, he's averaging 17.4 points, 7.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 2.6 steals and 1.9 threes per game, making him a top fantasy asset.
Description: Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes had 17 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two threes Monday against the Spurs.
Insight: Shockingly, Hawes has been a top-20 overall fantasy player this season. He's averaging 33 minutes, 15.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.8 threes per game. All would be career highs for the six-year veteran.
Description: 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams netted 21 points in Saturday's loss at Cleveland.
Insight: The rookie from Syracuse made all three of his three-point attempts. His 13 assists in the contest were a career-high. There's still a lot of basketball left to be played but if the season ended now, Carter-Williams would be the obvious choice for NBA Rookie of the Year.
Description: Evan Turner led the Sixers with 31 points Saturday in an overtime loss at Cleveland.
Insight: For Turner, Saturday was about volume. Though he didn't shoot the ball particularly well, the 23 shots Turner attempted were a season-high. It also helped that he was money from the free throw line (11-of-13). Turner matched a season-high with ten boards in the loss.
Description: Philadelphia backup guard Tony Wroten scored a career-high 18 points in 26 minutes Friday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Wroten has been getting consistent playing time in coach Brett Brown's rotation and has scored in double figures in five of six games this season. The 6-foot-6 guard is also averaging 4.0 rebounds to go with his 11.5 ppg, but he's only a fantasy option in extremely deep leagues.
Description: Sixers G/F Evan Turner had his fifth 20-point game of the season Friday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Turner scored 22 with 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal and is averaging 22.2 ppg through six contests. He didn't have his fifth 20-point game last season until Dec. 7 but is being asked to do a lot more offensively this season following the trade of Jrue Holiday.
Description: Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes continued his strong start with 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, one steal and two threes Wednesday against the Wizards.
Insight: Hawes is averaging 17.2 points, 11 boards, 3.4 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.8 threes per game this season. The Sixers have no depth so Hawes will continue to play big minutes and should be owned in all leagues.
Description: Philadelphia small forward Evan Turner led all scorers with 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting in a shocking season-opening win over the Heat.
Insight: Turner added five assists, four rebounds and a steal but missed all four of his 3-point attempts. On a roster devoid of talent, Turner is sure to top last season's 12.8 field-goal attempts and 13.3 points per game.
Description: Philadelphia 76ers rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams had the best debut a rookie could possibly dream of Wednesday night -- he scored 22 points with 12 assists, seven rebounds, nine steals and four threes and the Sixers pulled off an upset win over the defending NBA champion Miami Heat.
Insight: The knock on MCW coming out of Syracuse is that he can't shoot, but the rookie started out his NBA career red hot. He's going to get every chance to succeed this season and should be owned in all leagues, even if this may be his best game of the season.
Description: Former 2012 first-round pick of the Rockets, Royce White, was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Insight: Anxiety issues have prevented White from appearing in a single NBA game up to his point.
White led Iowa State in points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocked shots as a sophomore so he obviously has talent, but the other issues are apparently too much to overcome.
Description: Philadelphia coach Brett Brown doesn't think rookie Nerlens Noel will be able to play this season. SOURCE: Bob Cooney, Philadelphia Daily News
Insight: Noel tore his ACL about eight months ago and it could take him eight more months to get back to 100 percent. That's actually not the worst news in the world as the Sixers are trying to land the No. 1 pick in next year's draft.
