For The Last 15 Days

Wilin Rosario, C, COL5/24/2013 10:45:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario is 6-for-14 with two homers and a 1.556 OPS against Giants starter Tim Lincecum.
Insight: Rosario continues to produce with the bat, hitting .284 with nine homers and 27 RBI. He's a must start in this favorable matchup.
Geovany Soto, C, TEX5/24/2013 10:02:00 AM
Description: Texas catcher Geovany Soto could get a start on Friday against Seattle starter Joe Saunders as he's a career 4-for-6 with a double and a home run against the left-hander.
Insight: Soto is 5-for-12 in his last three starts with a pair of homers. Everyday starter A.J. Pierzynski is just 4-for-16 versus Saunders.
J.P. Arencibia, C, TOR5/23/2013 10:18:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI Thursday against Baltimore.
Insight: Arencibia has 11 homers, but he has done little else. He's hitting .230 with a pitiful 55/2 K/BB.
Salvador Perez, C, KAN5/23/2013 5:05:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez (hip) is back in the lineup Thursday, according to Bob Dutton of the KC Star.
Insight: Perez suffered a bruised hip Monday when he ran into a railing while trying to catch a foul popup. He missed two games.
Matt Wieters, C, BAL5/23/2013 11:42:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters has been thoroughly unimpressive in 18 lifetime at bats against Toronto starter Brandon Morrow.
Insight: Wieters (.230, 7 HR, 26 RBI) is hitting just .111 versus Morrow with five strikeouts. If you have another catcher at your disposal, today would be the day to use him.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL5/22/2013 9:17:00 PM
Description: Braves catcher Evan Gattis hit a grand slam Wednesday against the Twins.
Insight: Gattis hadn't started since May 14, but he hit two pinch-hit homers in the last three games prior to Wednesday. He has 10 homers and 27 RBI, and the Braves are going to have to find a way to get his bat in the lineup more often.
Salvador Perez, C, KAN5/22/2013 5:42:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez is out of the lineup Wednesday for a second straight day due to his deep hip bruise, according to Bob Dutton of the KC Star.
Insight: Perez suffered the injury Monday when he ran into a railing while trying to catch a foul popup. Manager Ned Yost said the catcher is likely to start Thursday against the Angels.
Brian McCann, C, ATL5/22/2013 12:04:00 PM
Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: Typical rest for a catcher after a night game. McCann is batting .282 with four homers and 12 RBI in 12 games this season.
Joe Mauer, C, MIN5/22/2013 11:55:00 AM
Description: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer is not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game with Atlanta.
Insight: Typical day game after a night game off, but since Mauer is 4-for-5 in his career against Braves starter Paul Maholm, fantasy owners can be rightly disappointed.
John Buck, C, NYMCold5/22/2013 10:30:00 AM
Description: Mets catcher John Buck is hitless in eight career at-bats versus Cincinnati right-hander Mat Latos with three strikeouts.
Insight: Considering it's a day game after a night game and Buck's record against Latos, fantasy owners should not expect Buck to start on Wednesday. After a huge April, Buck's May numbers are well below expectations (.196, 1 HR, 6 RBI, .593 OPS).
Salvador Perez, C, KAN5/21/2013 4:38:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez is day-to-day with a deep right hip bruise and won't start Tuesday's game, according to Bob Dutton of the KC Star.
Insight: Perez suffered the injury Monday when he ran into a railing while trying to catch a foul popup. He's available in an emergency situation Tuesday and should be able to return to the starting lineup in a few days.
Josh Phegley, C, CWS5/21/2013 11:56:00 AM
Description: Chicago White Sox minor league catcher Josh Phegley is making people notice down at Triple-A Charlotte, batting .333 with 10 HR, 27 RBI and a 1.052 OPS over his first 33 games.
Insight: The 25-year-old has consistently hit .300 over his minor league career, but this is the first time he's shown this much power. Should the White Sox tire of Tyler Flowers' .195 batting average, they could give the youngster a shot later this season.
Joe Mauer, C, MIN5/21/2013 10:43:00 AM
Description: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer is just 1-for-7 versus Atlanta right-hander Tim Hudson.
Insight: It isn't often that this career .323 hitter has a bad matchup, but today is one of them. In fact, the heart of the Twins lineup; Mauer, Justin Morneau and Josh Willingham are a combined 4-for-37 (.108) off Hudson. Tuesday doesn't figure to be a good offensive game for Minnesota.
Brian McCann, C, ATL5/21/2013 10:32:00 AM
Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann is a career .462 hitter (18-for-39) with a pair of home runs and a 1.354 OPS against Minnesota right-hander Mike Pelfrey.
Insight: Despite the lack of any spring training work, McCann has posted solid power numbers in his first 11 games - 3 HR, .835 OPS. Make sure he's in your lineup for this favorable matchup.
Carlos Santana, C, CLE5/21/2013 9:42:00 AM
Description: Cleveland catcher Carlos Santana is a .130 hitter (3-for-23) versus Detroit right-hander Max Scherzer.
Insight: Santana has finally put it all together with a .296, 7 HR, 16 RBI start and leads the position in OPS (.951). This matchup, however, in not a favorable one.
Salvador Perez, C, KAN5/20/2013 10:37:00 PM
Description: Royals catcher Salvador Perez injured his hip Monday against the Astros.
Insight: Perez exited in the sixth inning. George Kottaras (.125, 1 HR, 2 RBI) is now behind the plate for Kansas City.
Yan Gomes, C, CLEHot5/20/2013 9:14:00 PM
Description: Indians catcher Yan Gomes smashed a walk-off home run Monday against Seattle.
Insight: It was Gomes' second home run of the game and his fourth of the season. He's gone 9-for-20 at the plate over his last five games.
A.J. Pierzynski, C, TEX5/20/2013 8:15:00 PM
Description: The Rangers are expected to activate catcher A.J. Pierzynski from the disabled list on Tuesday. SOURCE: Anthony Andro, Fox Sports Southwest
Insight: He's been out with a strained oblique. Geovany Soto (.220, 2 HR, 5 RBI) won't see as much playing time now that Pierzynski is healthy again.
Carlos Ruiz, C, PHI5/20/2013 8:09:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia catcher Carlos Ruiz will be sidelined for the next 3-to-4 weeks because of a strained hamstring. SOURCE: Ryan Lawrence, Philadelphia Daily News
Insight: Erik Kratz (.202, 3 HR, 9 RBI) should see most of the action behind the plate while Ruiz is on the disabled list.
Carlos Ruiz, C, PHI5/20/2013 12:22:00 PM
Description: Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz strained his right hamstring while running the bases Sunday and will undergo an MRI on Monday.
Insight: Ruiz had a nine-game hitting streak snapped by the injury. He's hitting .235 in 51 at-bats this season, but is likely to be headed to the disabled list.
Matt Wieters, C, BALCold5/20/2013 10:10:00 AM
Description: Orioles catcher Matt Wieters is 5-for-27 (.185) with nine strikeouts against Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia.
Insight: Wieters is batting .230 with six homers, 23 RBI and a .714 OPS this year, but has just two hits in his last 18 at-bats. This unfavorable matchup isn't likely to help those numbers.
Jose Molina, C, TAMCold5/20/2013 10:01:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is hitless in eight at-bats versus Toronto knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Insight: Molina isn't much of an offensive threat to begin with (.221, .590 OPS) so his lack of success against Dickey shouldn't change many lineups. He's representative of the Rays' team lack of success against Dickey. Only one player on the roster has a batting average above .200 against Dickey (Kelly Johnson - .286).
Buster Posey, C, SFG5/19/2013 3:25:00 PM
Description: San Francisco catcher Buster Posey isn't starting Sunday's game against Colorado.
Insight: Posey is just getting a breather. Guillermo Quiroz (.240, 1 HR, 3 RBI) will get the start behind the plate.
Carlos Ruiz, C, PHI5/19/2013 3:08:00 PM
Description: Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz strained his right hamstring while running the bases Sunday.
Insight: Ruiz had a nine-game hitting streak snapped by the injury. He's hitting .235 in 51 at-bats this season.
Wilin Rosario, C, COLHot5/19/2013 11:39:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario is 6-for-14 with two homers, seven RBI and five runs over his last three games.
Insight: Rosario's 28/6 K/BB is subpar, but he has raised his line-drive rate from 17.3 percent to 21.7 percent since 2012 and has a 20.5 percent HR/FB on a 41.5 percent flyball rate. With all those flyballs, he's perfect for Coors Field.
Joe Mauer, C, MINHot5/19/2013 9:56:00 AM
Description: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer has hit safely in all 14 games this month and is batting .456 in 57 at-bats during that span.
Insight: Mauer has been dealing with some back stiffness but he returned to the lineup Saturday after missing Friday's game and went 2-for-5. Mauer has a favorable matchup against John Lackey of the Red Sox Sunday; Mauer is 11-for-27 (.407) against the right-hander.
Matt Wieters, C, BAL5/19/2013 9:39:00 AM
Description: Orioles catcher Matt Wieters is 6-for-11 with a pair of homers and three walks against Rays left-hander Matt Moore.
Insight: Moore (7-0, 2.44 ERA) is a tough customer, but Wieters seems to have him figured out. Wieters is batting .230 with six homers, 23 RBI and a .714 OPS this year.
J.P. Arencibia, C, TOR5/19/2013 9:31:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia is just 2-for-20 (.100) against Yankees starter CC Sabathia.
Insight: Arencibia is tied for ninth in the majors with 10 homers, but his 52/2 K/BB is atrocious. Keep him on the bench Sunday.
Joe Mauer, C, MIN5/18/2013 4:25:00 PM
Description: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer is back in the lineup Saturday against the the Red Sox.
Insight: Mauer (.349, 2 HR, 13 RBI) missed Friday's game due to back stiffness. He'll serve as the DH Saturday. He's just 1-for-10 with six K against Saturday's scheduled starter Ryan Dempster, but it will be difficult to sit him since he has hit safely in all 13 games this month and is batting .462 during that span.
Wilin Rosario, C, COL5/18/2013 10:50:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario is a career .455 hitter (1.509 OPS) versus two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum.
Insight: Rosario's batting average has cooled over the past two weeks, but he's still doing everything fantasy owners expected of him before the season began - hitting for a decent average (.279) with plenty of power (8 HR, .815 OPS).
Yadier Molina, C, STL5/18/2013 10:47:00 AM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a career .533 hitter (8-for-15) with a 1.333 OPS.

Joe Mauer, C, MIN5/18/2013 9:59:00 AM
Description: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer is 1-for-10 with six strikeouts in his matchups with Boston hurler Ryan Dempster.
Insight: Mauer (.349, 2 HR, 13 RBI) is dealing with back stiffness and missed Friday's game and this matchup should have fantasy owners sitting him for the Saturday game as well.
Joe Mauer, C, MINHot5/17/2013 7:43:00 PM
Description: Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer is out with a stiff back.
Insight: With Mauer sidelined, Ryan Doumit (.216, 3 HR, 16 RBI) will do the catching Friday night against Boston. Mauer (.349, 2 HR, 13 RBI) should be back later in the series.
J.P. Arencibia, C, TOR5/17/2013 9:53:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia is 7-for-15 (.467) against Yankees right-hander Hiroki Kuroda with a 1.267 OPS.
Insight: Arencibia (.236, 10 HR, 20 RBI) is producing solid power numbers, but still hitting for a low average. This is a favorable matchup that should work to his advantage.
Wilson Ramos, C, WAS5/16/2013 7:39:00 PM
Description: Washington catcher Wilson Ramos is back on the disabled list with an injured hamstring.

Insight: Wieters has never taken the next step offensively and his numbers are actually down from last year's level.
Carlos Corporan, C, HOU5/15/2013 6:38:00 PM
Description: Astros catcher Carlos Corporan went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI Wednesday afternoon against Detroit.
Insight: Corporan (.312, 3 HR) has outperformed Jason Castro (.241, 3 HR), but he has limited fantasy value even to NL-only owners while he's Houston's backup.
Yadier Molina, C, STL5/15/2013 4:53:00 PM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina will get a rare day off Wednesday against the Mets.
Insight: Molina has started 37 of St. Louis' 38 games this season. He's hitting .331 (47-for-142).

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C, BOS5/14/2013 3:33:00 PM
Description: Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is not starting Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay.
Insight: No injury, just a day of rest for the catcher, who has played 29 games this season, batting .263 with four homers and 11 RBI. His 36 strikeouts in 95 at-bats is a little concerning, but catchers with an .828 OPS are hard to come by.
Jose Molina, C, TAMCold5/14/2013 11:20:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina is hitless in 10 at-bats versus Boston starter John Lackey.
Insight: Molina isn't much of an offensive threat to begin with (.159, .445 OPS) so his lack of success against lackey shouldn't change many lineups.

Description: Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is a career .667 hitter (6-for-9) versus Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick with a home run and a 1.811 OPS.
Insight: Montero is off to a slow start, batting .203, and has been dropped from the cleanup spot. Kendrick is a much improved pitcher this season, so history may not repeat itself in this matchup.
Yadier Molina, C, STLHot5/12/2013 10:12:00 AM
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a .625 hitter (5-for-8) with a home run and a 1.667 OPS against Colorado lefty Jorge De La Rosa.

Description: Cleveland catcher Carlos Santana is a .375 hitter (9-for-24) versus Detroit starter Rick Porcello with three home runs and a 1.215 OPS.

Wilin Rosario, C, COL5/11/2013 1:42:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against St. Louis. No injury, just a rest day after a night game.
Insight: Rosario is doing everything fantasy owners could want - hitting for a decent average (.295) with plenty of power (7 HR, .864 OPS). He continues to produce top-five fantasy value at the catching position.
Brian McCann, C, ATL5/11/2013 1:38:00 PM
Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann is not in Saturday's starting lineup versus the San Francisco Giants.
Insight: Despite the lack of any spring training work, McCann is off to a hot start, batting .308 with a home run and five RBI in his first three games. He'll likely get a day or two rest each week until he builds up his stamina.
J.P. Arencibia, C, TOR5/11/2013 9:39:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia is hitless in 14 at-bats with four strikeouts against Boston starter Clay Buchholz.

Insight: Molina is having another fine all-around season, batting .339 and playing great behind the plate. He's a must start.
Jose Molina, C, TAM5/10/2013 10:08:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay catcher Jose Molina has three extra base hits, including a pair of home runs, in six at-bats versus Padres starter Edinson Volquez.
Insight: Molina has been struggling at the plate, going hitless in his last six games, so it would take a leap of faith to put him in a fantasy lineup for Friday based on such a small sample size.
Carlos Santana, C, CLE5/10/2013 9:46:00 AM
Description: Cleveland catcher Carlos Santana is just a .100 hitter (2-for-20) versus Detroit starter Max Scherzer.
Insight: The Indians gave Santana Thursday off, but it probably would have been a better idea to give him Friday off. Santana (.358, 7 HR, 15 RBI) is one of the league's top-hitting catchers, but this is an unfavorable matchup.
