Description: Winnipeg backup goaltender Al Montoya was available for Thursday's game with the Capitals, but didn't see any action.
Insight: Ondrej Pavelec gave up four goals in a 4-0 loss to Washington and having played 28 games already this season (13-13-2, 2.78 GAA, .904 save percentage) could be in line for a rest. Montoya is 3-0-0 this with a 2.33 GAA and .909 save percentage and just might get the call.

3/16/2013 12:23:00 PM
Description: Winnipeg goaltender Al Montoya is doubtful for Saturday's game against Toronto with a lower body injury.
Insight: It appears to be the same injury he suffered on Feb. 12. Montoya is 3-0-0 this season with a 2.33 GAA and .909 save percentage. Ondrej Pavelec should continue to see the majority of the work in net for the Jets.

3/7/2013 5:29:00 PM
Description: Jets goaltender Al Montoya will start in the crease Thursday versus Tampa Bay.
Insight: It will be Montoya's first start since suffering a lower-body injury on Feb. 12. He has a shutout under his belt but allowed nine goals in 137 minutes (3.94 GAA) over his other three appearances.

Insight: Montoya shut out Ottawa on Saturday before leaving Tuesday's game with an injury. Ondrej Pavelec (3-5-1, 3.28 GAA) doesn't have to worry about a goalie controversy for now. Winnipeg called up Eddie Pasquale from the minors to serve as the backup netminder.

2/12/2013 4:30:00 PM
Description: Winnipeg will start Al Montoya in net Tuesday versus Philadelphia. Montoya is coming off a shutout of Ottawa Saturday night, when starter Ondrej Pavelec had the flu.
Insight: Pavelec is over the flu, but Montoya will get another turn Tuesday. Pavelec hasn't been playing well but we don't expect Montoya to seriously challenge for the starting job.

2/9/2013 5:28:00 PM
Description: With Ondrej Pavelec out with the flu, Jets goaltender Al Montoya stepped in and sticked away 33 shots in a shutout of Ottawa Saturday afternoon.
Insight: Montoya gave up seven goals in 97 minutes over his first two appearances this season, so this effort is surprising. Even with the shutout, he's unlikely to push a healthy Pavelec.

1/27/2013 1:40:00 PM
Description: Al Montoya will tend goal for Winnipeg Sunday against the Islanders.
Insight: Montoya hasn't appeared yet this season after making 52 appearances for the Isles over the past two seasons. Ondrej Pavelec (2-1-1, 2.21, .932 SV%) has the starting job locked down but is getting a break after starting the first four games.

3/23/2011 2:03:00 PM
Description: Montoya made 36 saves Tuesday to knock off the Lightning 5-2.
Insight: The performance followed three straight games of three goals allowed or more for Montoya, all of which the Islanders lost. (RapidDraft.com)

3/19/2011 10:04:00 AM
Description: Montoya made 32 saves for the Isles Friday night but took the 3-2 overtime loss.
Insight: His save totals have remained solid, but Montoya has allowed three goals or more in four of his past five games. He might be coming back to earth after a hot start following his trade. (RapidDraft.com)

3/12/2011 11:00:00 AM
Description: Montoya stopped 26 of 28 shots Friday night for his fourth victory in the past five games.
Insight: Montoya has only allowed more than two goals once in the past five games. His GAA stands at 2.01 for the season. (RapidDraft.com)

2/25/2011 1:01:00 AM
Description: Montoya endured his toughest outing as an Islander, allowing four goals in the overtime loss to Philly Thursday.
Insight: The netminder still managed 39 saves for a .907 rate against the Flyers, so it wasn't exactly a performance over which to beat himself up. (RapidDraft.com)

2/23/2011 9:04:00 AM
Description: Montoya took the 2-1 loss Tuesday night but still has yet to allow more than two goals in a game as an Islander.
Insight: Montoya, who to this point had yet to deliver on his former first-round status, looked like a bit of a desperation move by the goalie-needy Isles. He's sure paying off so far, though, with a .946 save rate. (RapidDraft.com)

2/22/2011 10:05:00 AM
Description: Montoya stopped 20 of 21 shots Monday en route to his second victory in two starts with the Islanders.
Insight: Montoya obviously won't keep up the .953 save rate or 1.23 GAA that he's sporting through four games with the Isles, but why not pick him up and see what happens? (RapidDraft.com)

2/20/2011 1:03:00 AM
Description: Montoya stopped 35 Kings shots Saturday for his second NHL shutout in his first start since being acquired by the Islanders.
Insight: Montoya had allowed three goals on 30 shots in two previous shorter appearances. Saturday's win was his second with the Isles. (RapidDraft.com)

2/9/2011 10:04:00 PM
Description: Montoya was acquired Wednesday by the Islanders following news that G Kevin Poulin's season is over because of a dislocated left kneecap.
Insight: A former first-round pick, Montoya has just four NHL games on his resume to this point. For what it's worth, he did go 3-1 with a 2.08 GAA in those two years ago. This year, though, he was a mere 11-8 with a 3.19 GAA and .891 save percentage for the AHL's San Antonio. (RapidDraft.com)
