Philadelphia Flyers (41-23-10) at New York Rangers (41-21-12), 7 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers will fight for the Atlantic Division lead tonight when they meet at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers currently hold the top spot in the Atlantic with 94 points, but Philadelphia is just two points back.
The Blueshirts should be well rested for tonight's tilt, having been off since Thursday's loss to the Ottawa Senators. Dany Heatley notched a goal and an assist while Ray Emery stopped 24 shots to lead the Sens to the 4-1 victory at Scotiabank Place.
Fedor Tyutin scored the only goal while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots for the Rangers, who had a two-game winning streak stopped.
Jaromir Jagr posted an assist in the loss to extend his point streak to 11 games. His stretch is currently the longest in the NHL. Jagr also leads the league in goals (52) and points (114).
Teammate Michael Nylander will also carry a 10-game point string into tonight's contest.
Tonight is the first of two in a row at home for the Rangers, who are 23-8-6 as the host club this season.
The Flyers ended a two-game skid with Sunday's 4-1 road victory over the Islanders. Robert Esche stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced to help Philly down New York at the Nassau Coliseum.
Mike Knuble, R.J. Umberger and Jeff Carter each scored first-period goals for the Flyers. Peter Forsberg was held scoreless and had his point streak halted at six games.
Flyers center Petr Nedved missed Sunday's contest with a strained groin and is questionable for tonight's test.
Philadelphia, which is an impressive 21-11-4 as the visiting team this season, is playing the middle segment of a three-game road trip tonight.
The Rangers and Flyers have split six meetings this season with each team going undefeated on the opponents' home ice. Philadelphia has won eight of the last 12 matchups overall.
