Hurricanes acquire D Bergeron from Tampa Bay
Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
In exchange, Tampa Bay will receive forward Adam Hall and a 2013 seventh-round draft choice for the 32-year-old veteran, who had spent his last three seasons with the Lightning.
Bergeron has appeared in 12 games during the 2012-13 campaign, registering one goal and four assists. The 10-year veteran led Tampa Bay defensemen in points (24) and power-play points (9) over 43 games last season.
"Marc-Andre is a skilled, veteran defenseman who has made a good career out of helping teams on the power play," said Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford.
A journeyman throughout his career, Bergeron has also spent time with Edmonton, the New York Islanders, Anaheim, Minnesota and Montreal, appearing in 477 total games to register 82 goals, 149 assists and 209 penalty minutes.
Hall heads back to Tampa Bay, where he played earlier this season. He appeared in 20 games for the Lightning and notched four assists before being waived and claimed by Carolina in March.
The 32-year-old Michigan native played just six games for the Hurricanes and failed to record a point.
Hall has 65 goals and 82 assists for 147 points in 591 NHL games with the Hurricanes, Lightning, Penguins, Wild, Rangers and Predators since making his debut with Nashville during the 2001-02 season.
