44
Name  Ben Tate
Born  8/21/1988
Height  5-11

11/28/2012 3:35:00 PM
Description: Houston running back Ben Tate (hamstring) participated in Wednesday's practice and is expected to backup Arian Foster in Week 13.
Insight: He still doesn't have much fantasy value, but he replaces Justin Forsett on the depth chart.

11/20/2012 12:18:00 PM
Description: Houston backup running back Ben Tate (hamstring) is doubtful for Thursday's game against Detroit.
Insight: Justin Forsett will backup Arian Foster if Tate is again inactive.

11/4/2012 12:20:00 PM
Description: Houston backup running back Ben Tate (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against Buffalo.
Insight: Tate could have joined Arian Foster in feasting on the league's worst run defense. Instead, No. 3 back Justin Forsett, might get enough carries and yards to be a low-end fantasy value.

10/22/2012 11:21:00 AM
Description: Houston backup running back Ben Tate injured his hamstring during Sunday's blowout win over Baltimore.
Insight: Tate will have the bye week to recover. If Tate is healthy enough to play he should be a serviceable flex player against Buffalo's laughably awful run defense in Week 9.

10/12/2012 1:35:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Ben Tate (toe) was officially limited again on Thursday, but coach Gary Kubiak said he expected Tate to play.
Insight: Tate did have one good game against Miami, but his 5-10 rushing attempts per game aren't enough for fantasy owners to start him on a consistent basis. With his toe injury, he'll likely be on the low side in attempts and you should sit him.

10/9/2012 4:59:00 PM
Description: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said running back Ben Tate (toe) was "not close" to suiting up for Monday's game against the Jets.
Insight: It's looking increasingly unlikely that Tate won't play in Week 6 against the Packers. Arian Foster has been getting the full load for Houston even when Tate has been healthy so the backup is no longer a flex option anyway.

10/8/2012 8:10:00 PM
Description: As expected, Houston halfback Ben Tate won't play Monday versus the Jets. Tate is out with an injured toe.
Insight: Tate has only been getting around six carries a game this season, so he hasn't really been able to add much in terms of fantasy production. For now, Arian Foster (380 yards, 4 TD) is the only Texans running back worth owning in fantasy.

10/8/2012 2:29:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Ben Tate (toe) is unlikely to play Monday night against the Jets, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: According to the Texans' official website, coach Gary Kubiak said Tate would "probably be ready" for Monday even though he's dealing with a toe injury but it appears he'll miss the game. If you started Tate at a running back or flex spot the pickings are likely slim on the waiver wire. Justin Forsett, Kevin Walter, Bilal Powell and Jeremy Kerley are little-owned options that you could use.

10/6/2012 8:17:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Ben Tate (toe) returned to practice Saturday. He'll have an extra day of recovery since Houston plays the Jets on Monday night.
Insight: According to the Texans' official website, coach Gary Kubiak said Tate would "probably be ready" for Monday even though he's dealing with a toe injury. Even though Tate is arguably the best backup running back in the league, his usage has been too sporadic to trust him in fantasy, especially while he's banged up.

10/1/2012 6:12:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Ben Tate will undergo X-rays on his sore toe, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Tate is arguably the best backup running back in the NFL but his fantasy value is limited because he's behind Arian Foster, who's on pace for 400-plus carries.

9/16/2012 4:54:00 PM
Description: Texans running back Ben Tate carried 12 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Jaguars after not being involved much in Week 1. Tate only had five carries for six yards last week.
Insight: Tate is going to be a risky week-to-week play because you can't predict how much Houston will use him in any particular game but his potential for RB1 numbers makes him flex-worthy every week.

9/25/2011 8:45:00 AM
Description: ProFootballTalk.com's Mike Florio has been told by a league source that Arian Foster (hamstring, questionable) is not expected to play in Week 3. Source: Pro Football Talk
Insight: ESPN is also reporting that Foster is expected to sit out in week 3. You can remove him from your starting lineup and Ben Tate, who has two straight 100+ yard games, will get the start and workload once again.

9/22/2011 9:26:00 AM
Description: Arian Foster (hamstring) hinted that he will rest in Sunday's game against the Saints. Source: Houston Chronicle
Insight: He wants to be out there, but he's realistic that he doesn't want to risk injuring himself further and causing him to miss the season. We're expecting Ben Tate to get the workload on Sunday.

9/21/2011 5:01:00 PM
Description: Ben Tate is expected to be the Texans' starting tailback when they visit the Saints in Week 3. Source: John McClain via Twitter
Insight: All signs are pointing towards Foster missing this game and perhaps more. Tate was reward the feature back role yesterday and is in line for at least 20 touches against the Saints. We think Tate should be considered a top 15 back in week 3.

3/24/2011 2:21:00 PM
Description: Texans RB Ben Tate is expected to push RB Derrick Ward for the backup spot this year. SOURCE: HOUSTONTEXANS.COM
Insight: Our money is on Tate. He's younger and has more upside than Ward at this stage. Whichever guy wins the job behind Arian Foster, they should be considered as a handcuff later in your fantasy draft.

2/23/2011 11:15:00 AM
Description: Doctors have medically cleared Texans RB Ben Tate after he missed his rookie year with a fractured right fibula and torn ankle ligaments. SOURCE: FACEBOOK
Insight: Even though Arian Foster is the clear starter, Tate is such a perfect fit for the team's zone-blocking scheme, that he could be a solid handcuff at the very least in 2011.

Description: Texans rookie RB Ben Tate's season-ending injury not only included torn ligaments, but a fractured fibula. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: Dynasty owners can continue to keep Tate in the hopes he battles for a backfield spot next year, but redrafters can forget about him.

8/15/2010 12:13:00 PM
Description: There is belief that Texans RB Ben Tate's ankle could be broken. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: According to a source close to Tate, the injury "could be major." We weren't expecting a lot from Tate. But if he's out for the year, this could mean Foster has a firmer grasp on the starting job and the majority of the carries.

8/14/2010 10:05:00 PM
Description: Texans rookie RB Ben Tate had to be carted to the locker room after sustaining a lower right leg injury in the preseason opener.
Insight: Definitely not good sign for the rookie. Those that have been drafting Tate high, as well as before Foster should be holding their collective breaths right now. The running game for Houston all of the sudden isn't look so deep, especially with Steve Slaton still suffering from fumblitis.

8/13/2010 2:42:00 PM
Description: Texans rookie RB Ben Tate is expected to see plenty of work in the team's first preseason game Saturday. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: Tate is going to have to put on quite a show after a disappointing training camp so far. We aren't expecting much out of him this year.
