Oklahoma City Thunder 2013 Draft Report Card
By Jim Brighters, NBA Editor
Additions: Steven Adams (12)
Andre Roberson (26)
Alex Abrines (32)
Grant Jerrett (40)
(Sports Network) - They took a little of everything, which is exactly what a really good team with a lot of draft choices should do.
Oklahoma City is a Russell Westbrook injury away from getting back to the NBA Finals. Instead, they fell in the Western Conference semifinals to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The reason the Thunder had so many picks was due, mostly, to the James Harden trade. That's how they landed the 12th pick and Steven Adams, the Pitt project, which I will copyright.
Adams is really big, but needs more work than a classic car. Much like all of their rookies last season - Perry Jones, Jeremy Lamb - Adams will probably rent property in Tulsa, home of the Thunder's D-League squad. The Thunder will hope his offensive game comes around.
Roberson could help down the line as a rebounder. It's basically all he does.
Abrines drew comparisons to Rudy Fernandez, but better.
Jerrett is a big who can shoot from far away.
Oklahoma City does some great things, and because they are so good they can afford to do that. Any other team drafts at No. 12, they can't ship that guy down to the minors. They need him to contribute immediately.
OKC may have wanted more return for its trade of Harden, but it did about as well as expected.
