8/31/2014 8:03:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run on nine hits, struck out six and walked one in six and 2/3 innings against the Braves on Sunday.
Insight: Unfortunately, Braves' starter Alex Wood was even better, pitching eight shutout innings, so Eovaldi received the loss. The lone run of the day was Evan Gattis' solo home run in the second inning. Eovaldi is 6-10 with a 4.19 ERA this year.

8/8/2014 10:13:00 PM
Description: Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi has allowed one run on two hits over 15 innings in August, facing the Reds in both starts.
Insight: Eovaldi's terrific start (3.05 ERA in first 13 starts) gave way to a 6.41 ERA from June 13 to July 28, but he's back on track. He threw eight scoreless innings Friday to get his ERA back below 4.00. He's 6-6 with a 3.99 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and 105 Ks in 151 innings, so he's a decent NL-only option.

Cold7/28/2014 10:21:00 PM
Description: Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi has allowed 18 runs on 21 hits over 16 1/3 innings his last three starts.
Insight: Eovaldi had a 3.05 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in his first 13 starts, but he's been tagged for 64 hits and 38 earned runs over 53 1/3 innings in his last nine (6.41 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). His ERA and WHIP stand at 4.37 and 1.26, respectively, after he allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings Monday against the Nationals. Eovaldi throws as hard as anyone in the league, but he doesn't have the secondary stuff to generate strikeouts.

7/9/2014 7:08:00 PM
Description: Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run on four hits in seven innings Wednesday at Arizona, but Steve Cishek's blown save cost him his sixth win.
Insight: Eovaldi (3.61 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) has an overpowering fastball, but his lack of a secondary pitch prevents him from racking up strikeouts. The right-hander has a 6.24 K/9 in 119 2/3 innings.

6/23/2014 10:42:00 PM
Description: Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi rebounded from two poor outings in a row with 6 1/3 scoreless innings Monday at Philadelphia.
Insight: Eovaldi (5-3, 3.52 ERA) has commanded his stuff much better in 2014, lowering his BB/9 from 3.39 to 1.54. The right-hander has one of the hardest fastballs in the majors at 95.5 mph, but he lacks the secondary stuff to be a big-time strikeout artist (6.86 K/9).

6/18/2014 10:23:00 AM
Description: Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi has been reinstated from paternity leave.
Insight: He didn't have to miss any starts. The hard-throwing right-hander is 4-2 this year with a 3.50 ERA in 87 1/3 innings.

5/26/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi has given up three earned runs on 13 hits with a 7/2 K/BB over 12 1/3 innings since his worst start of the year on May 15.
Insight: Eovaldi gave up six runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings at San Francisco three starts ago, but he's won his last two games and is 4-2 with a 3.36 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He's lowered his BB% from 8.9 in 2013 to 4.9 this year.

Hot4/30/2014 10:01:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi had another dominant start Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing just three hits and one earned run in seven innings.
Insight: Eovaldi is 2-1 with a 2.58 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and a fantastic 35/5 K/BB in 38 1/3 innings. He walked 3.39 batters per nine innings last year but has taken a big step forward.

Hot4/23/2014 6:52:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi struck out seven and allowed one unearned run on five hits in six innings Wednesday at Atlanta but he took a no decision.
Insight: Eovaldi, who is one of the hardest throwers in the majors, has taken a major step forward in his first 31 1/3 innings. He has a 2.87 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP and a 30/4 K/BB after putting up a 3.39 ERA and a 3.39 BB/9 in 2013. Eovaldi's numbers could be even better, but he has a .330 BABIP despite inducing a fantastic line-drive rate of 16.1 percent.

4/1/2014 9:45:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed two runs on six hits, walked one and struck out six over six innings Tuesday against the Rockies.
Insight: Eovaldi, who averaged 96.1 mph with his fastball in 2013, had a 3.39 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and a 78/40 K/BB in 106 1/3 innings. He's yet to develop a consistent secondary pitch, however.

9/23/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: Miami righthander Nate Eovaldi was dealing Monday against Philadelphia.
Insight: The 23-year-old flamethrower turned in one of his best outings of the season, surrendering just three hits over 7 2/3 scoreless frames. The victory was Eovaldi's fourth of the year. He'll look for win No. 5 Sunday against the Tigers.

9/18/2013 10:18:00 AM
Description: Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi is probable for Wednesday's scheduled start against Philadelphia due to back tightness.
Insight: Eovaldi tossed eight scoreless innings at Atlanta on Sept. 1, but gave up five earned on nine hits in his last start. The right-hander has been solid this season and aside from a nine-run outing on Aug. 16 against the Giants in which he allowed 12 hits in three innings, Eovaldi has a 2.98 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.

9/12/2013 11:00:00 AM

The right-hander has been solid this season and aside from a nine-run outing on Aug. 16 against the Giants in which he allowed 12 hits in three innings, Eovaldi has a 2.98 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.

9/1/2013 7:57:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Nate Eovaldi threw all zeros Sunday in a win against Atlanta.
Insight: The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the righthander. Prior to Sunday, Eovaldi (8 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 6 K's, 2 BB) hadn't won in almost two months (July 12th versus Washington).

8/21/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: After giving up 12 hits and 11 runs (nine earned) over three innings in his last start, Miami right-hander Nathan Eovaldi had a bounce-back effort Wednesday versus the Dodgers.
Insight: Eovaldi gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits, walked two and struck out five over seven innings. Even with his last start on his record, he still has a 3.82 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP in 70 2/3 innings this season.

8/11/2013 9:34:00 AM
Description: Marlins pitcher Nathan Eovaldi shut down the red-hot Braves Saturday night over seven innings.
Insight: Eovaldi struck out eight and allowed just one hit without giving up a run. The hard-throwing right-hander has posted a 2.82 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in 10 starts this season and should be added in all 12-team leagues.

7/25/2013 9:55:00 PM
Description: Marlins pitcher Nathan Eovaldi held the Rockies scoreless on three hits over six innings Thursday.
Insight: Eovaldi gave up six earned in four innings at Milwaukee his last time out, but he has thrown at least six innings and allowed three runs or less in his other six starts this year.

6/23/2013 9:38:00 PM
Description: Marlins pitcher Nathan Eovaldi threw six strong innings Sunday at San Francisco to earn his first win of the season.
Insight: Eovaldi spent the first two and a half months of the season on the DL with shoulder inflammation, but he has thrown quality starts in each of his first two outings this season and should be added in 12-team leagues.

6/19/2013 9:47:00 AM
Description: Marlins pitcher Nathan Eovaldi made his season debut Tuesday at Arizona and allowed two runs on three hits in six innings.
Insight: Eovaldi spent the first two and a half months of the season on the DL with shoulder inflammation. He came out throwing in the high 90s Tuesday, and only walked one batter. If he can keep his walks down, he has potential to be a solid fantasy arm.
