Description: Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro will start Tuesday versus San Diego. SOURCE: Alex Pavlovic, Mercury News
Insight: Scutaro (.332, 2 HR, 15 RBI) missed about a week with "mallet finger." He's batting just .087 (2-for-23) against the Padres this season.

6/18/2013 9:36:00 AM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro (finger) expects to return to the lineup Tuesday or Wednesday.
Insight: Scutaro has been sidelined with "mallet finger" since being hit by a pitch last Tuesday. If he plays through the injury, he'll risk permanent deformity.

6/17/2013 7:54:00 PM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro remains out of the lineup with a pinky injury.
Insight: Scutaro has been sidelined since getting hit by a pitch last Tuesday. At this point it might make more sense for the Giants to go ahead and put Scutaro (.332, 2 HR, 15 RBI) on the disabled list.

6/12/2013 5:39:00 PM
Description: Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that infielder Marco Scutaro as "mallet finger" tendon damage in his left pinky, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. However, Scutaro wants to play through the injury.
Insight: Scutaro was hit by a pitch on his left hand Tuesday night. X-rays came back negative, but the second baseman is unable to straighten his pinky. If Scutaro keeps playing, there's a chance he'll develop a lifelong finger deformity, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com.

6/11/2013 10:52:00 PM
Description: Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro (hand) doesn't have a fracture, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com, but he might have tendon damage.
Insight: Scutaro was hit by a pitch on his left hand Tuesday night. X-rays came back negative, but the second baseman is unable to straighten his pinky. He'll see a hand specialist Wednesday and definitely will miss at least one game.

6/11/2013 9:21:00 PM
Description: Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro left Tuesday's game after getting hit on the hand with a pitch.
Insight: He'll likely have X-rays soon, so we should know if he has a break or just a contusion.

6/9/2013 8:26:00 PM
Description: Giants 2B Marco Scutaro went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored Sunday versus Arizona.
Insight: Scutaro batted .420 with a 1.033 OPS and a 3/10 K/BB in May and after Sunday's game is 10-for-29 (.345) in June. The infielder has gone 164-for-472 (.347) with a 30/34 K/BB since joining the Giants last season.

Hot5/30/2013 2:44:00 PM
Description: An illness will keep Marco Scutaro out of the Giants starting lineup Thursday, according to Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area.
Insight: Scutaro is hitting .420 (42-for-100) in May and .330 on the season. He should only be out a couple of days.

Hot5/22/2013 10:42:00 AM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro is just 2-for-17 (.118) against Washington ace Gio Gonzalez.
Insight: Scutaro (.337, 25 runs, 1 HR, 11 RBI) is currently on a 19-game hitting streak and a 1.169 OPS over that span. This matchup, however, might give him a problem.

Hot5/19/2013 3:33:00 PM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro is getting the afternoon off Sunday versus the Rockies.
Insight: Scutaro (.331, 1 HR, 10 RBI) has collected a .485 average during his 17-game hitting streak. That's the longest active hitting streak in the major leagues.

Hot5/8/2013 7:11:00 PM
Description: Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro is 15-for-31 (.484) with four walks and one strikeout during an eight-game hitting streak.
Insight: Scutaro has five multi-hit efforts during that stretch, including a 3-for-5 game Wednesday against the Phillies. He has raised his average from .215 to .282 during the streak.

4/18/2013 12:06:00 PM
Description: Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro won't be in the lineup Thursday against Milwaukee.
Insight: Scutaro (.268, 0 HR, 4 RBI) has appeared in 14 of the Giants' first 15 games so he's just getting a day off. The veteran should be well-rested for Friday's tilt against the Padres.

4/11/2013 11:47:00 AM
Description: Good news for Marco Scutaro owners: Scott Feldman is pitching today for Chicago.
Insight: Scutaro has owned Feldman in the past (.400 lifetime). Of course, most of those at bats came when Feldman was in Texas, which is generally considered one of the more hitter-friendly environments in major league baseball. On the other hand, Scutaro has had a very tough time at Wrigley Field in his career (.083 AVG in 24 at bats). That's a little alarming but with a good chunk of the league getting an off day on Thursday, Scutaro should still be worth a start.

12/5/2012 6:27:00 PM
Description: Shortstop Marco Scutaro has agreed to stay with the San Francisco Giants. His new deal is worth $20 million over three seasons.
Insight: Scutaro played the best baseball of his career after the Rockies traded him to the Giants at midseason (.362, 7 HR, 74 RBI) and went on to win his first NLCS MVP Award in October. Given the position's lack of depth, Scutaro is definitely worth looking into in fantasy next season.

10/24/2012 9:20:00 AM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro is one of the few Giants with extensive experience against Justin Verlander, but he's had very little success, going just 5-for-23 (.217) with eight strikeouts.
Insight: The 2012 NLCS MVP doesn't have a good history in his matchups with Verlander and should be avoided in Game 1.

Hot10/22/2012 11:43:00 PM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro had three hits in four at-bats Monday in Game 7 of the NLCS to help the Giants beat St. Louis 9-0 to advance to the World Series.
Insight: Scutaro had multiple hits in six of seven games in the series despite getting taken out on a slide by Matt Holliday in Game 2.

Hot10/22/2012 9:20:00 AM
Description: San Francisco second baseman Marco Scutaro collected two hits in Sunday's Game 6 win over St. Louis.
Insight: He's hitting .458 with five multi-hit games in the series. Scutaro brought home two runs on his second-inning double and now has five RBI in 12 postseason apperances in 2012.

10/15/2012 11:06:00 PM
Description: Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro has been diagnosed with a left hip injury, according to the San Francisco Giants' official Twitter account.
Insight: The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Matt Holliday took out Scutaro on a hard slide at second base early in Game 2 of the NLDS Monday, forcing Scutaro to leave the game. Scutaro will have X-rays on his injured hip.

Hot8/9/2012 9:49:00 AM
Description: The Giants' acquisition of infielder Marco Scutaro has worked out well for both parties. Scutaro is hitting .347 with 13 RBIs in 12 games with the team, including a 3-for-6, seven-RBI performance Wednesday.
Insight: Something tells us that this won't last. Perhaps it's Scutaro's career .271 average and .725 OPS, or the fact that he posted a .684 OPS in 95 games for Colorado this season. Either way, he should only be considered in deeper leagues.

7/28/2012 9:33:00 PM
Description: The Giants acquired infielder Marco Scutaro from the Rockies on Friday for second baseman Charlie Culberson and cash considerations.
Insight: Scutaro (.271, 4 HRs, 30 RBIs) appeared as San Francisco's starting third baseman Saturday against the Dodgers and went 1-for-3. Scutaro hit .299 with the Red Sox a season ago and he is eligible at multiple positions. There's some fantasy potential here.
