Hot7/28/2014 11:03:00 PM
Description: Astros DH Chris Carter went 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI Monday against the Athletics.
Insight: Carter has gone 23-for-75 (.307) with six doubles, eight home runs and 19 RBI in July, but with 110 Ks in 309 at-bats this season he can't be counted on for long-term production. He's hit .214 with 21 home runs, 49 RBI and a .771 OPS.

Hot7/20/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: Astros DH Chris Carter has batted .306 with six home runs in July.
Insight: Carter also struck out 17 times in 49 at-bats during that span and 104 times in 283 at-bats this season. He's hitting .205 with 19 home runs and 41 RBI.

7/9/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter went 2-for-4 with two solo homers Tuesday at Texas.
Insight: Carter (.194) has sent one to Souvenir City four times in his past four games and has 17 home runs this season. However, fantasy owners looking to ride his hot streak should think again with Yu Darvish on the hill Wednesday. Carter is 0-for-11 with seven Ks against the Rangers right-hander.

6/11/2014 10:41:00 PM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter smashed two homers in Wednesday's victory over the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Both were solo shots. Carter has six RBI in his last three contests but is still hitting just .199 for the season. Until he can get that average up to a more respectable level, we can't endorse Carter as a fantasy option.

6/8/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: Astros DH Chris Carter slugged his first career grand slam Sunday versus Minnesota.
Insight: After going 78 games without a grand slam, the Astros hit two in a span of three innings on Sunday. Carter is hitting under .200 but at least he has ten homers and 27 RBI. The 27-year-old is owned in fewer than ten percent of ESPN fantasy leagues.

6/7/2014 12:31:00 PM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter is not in Saturday's starting lineup. Jesus Guzman will be the DH against Minnesota and Kyle Gibson.
Insight: Carter is only batting .181 against right-handers with an ugly .672 OPS, so Guzman gets an opportunity. We don't like either hitters' chances on Saturday.

6/4/2014 11:57:00 AM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter has hit Angels flamethrower Garrett Richards well throughout his career (6-for-13, 1 HR, 1 2B).
Insight: Carter has struck out three times against Richards, but that's nothing out of the ordinary for the power-hitting DH, who is batting .200 on the year and struck out a whopping 62 times. Still, he's got nine home runs and 11 doubles and could be a savvy play tonight.

5/31/2014 1:23:00 PM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Insight: After hitting two home runs on Wednesday, Carter went hitless in his next to games. The 27-year-old has always had good power but his .193 batting average in 166 at bats this season can't be too appealing to fantasy owners.

5/28/2014 7:45:00 PM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter belted a pair of homers Wednesday in a victory over the Royals.
Insight: Carter's four runs batted in were a season-high. The 27-year-old has always had good power but his .200 batting average in 160 at bats this season can't be too appealing to fantasy owners.

5/19/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter is 5-for-10 with a homer and a 1.445 OPS versus Angels right-hander Garrett Richards.
Insight: Carter led the league in strikeouts last season with 212 and can't bat his weight, but he had a good week, hitting .368 over the past five games and could be useful in this spot start.

Cold4/11/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter is 0-for-8 with six strikeouts against Texas starter Yu Darvish.
Insight: Carter led the league in strikeouts last season with 212 and is doing the same this year. He's a home run hitter, with 29 long balls last season, but it comes at an expensive price to your team batting average. Obviously, avoid him on Friday.

7/14/2013 12:54:00 PM
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter is not in the lineup for the second straight day Sunday due to a minor ankle injury, according to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Carter has 18 home runs, 47 RBI and a .795 OPS this season, but he's hitting just .229 with an absurd 123 strikeouts in 288 at-bats.

6/23/2013 8:12:00 PM
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs Sunday against the Cubs.
Insight: Carter struck out at least once in each of the first 18 games of June, but he has gone two straight games without a K.

6/21/2013 9:38:00 PM
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter slugged his 15th homer of the season Friday against the Cubs.
Insight: Carter's 15 home runs and 38 RBI are nice, but he has a horrific 38.2 percent strikeout rate and is hitting just .221.

5/9/2013 1:01:00 PM
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter is hitless in 10 previous at bats against Angels lefty Jason Vargas.
Insight: Carter leads Houston with eight homers and 18 RBI this season. Unfortunately, his batting average is hovering right around the Mendoza line (.212 in 33 games). Thursday would be a good day to leave Carter on the bench.

Cold9/9/2012 10:57:00 AM
Description: A's first baseman Chris Carter isn't worth starting Sunday against Seattle. He's never gotten a hit in nine tries versus righthander Jason Vargas.
Insight: Carter is 1-for-9 with an astonishing seven strikeouts in his last two games. Make sure you bench him for today's series finale.

8/31/2012 8:59:00 PM
Description: Oakland first baseman Chris Carter is sitting out Friday night's series opener versus the Red Sox.
Insight: Carter (.274, 12 HR, 31 RBI) has driven in at least one run in each of his last five contests but he'll have to watch this one from the bench while Brandon Moss (.239, 14 HR, 30 RBI) fills in at first base.

Hot7/25/2012 10:34:00 PM
Description: Athletics first baseman Chris Carter has belted six homers in 15 games since he was called up from the minors.
Insight: This is the third unheralded Oakland player to go on a tear when he joined the big league team this season. Brandon Inge hit four homers and drove in 16 RBIs in his first 10 games with the team and Brandon Moss hit 11 jacks in his first 27. Those players slowed up after their initial hot streaks and we expect Carter to do the same.
