National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at Houston

(Thursday, May 17th)

Final Score: Houston 4, Milwaukee 0

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - J.A. Happ went six innings, Jed Lowrie hit a two-run homer and the Astros completed a two-game sweep of the Brewers with a 4-0 win on Thursday.

Happ (3-3) gave up seven hits, struck out four and walked one for Houston, which earned just its second series sweep of the season.

"I'm just trying to be aggressive and throw strikes," said Happ. "With the pitches that I miss and that they get on, the guys behind me do a great job."

Lowrie's homer came in the fourth inning, as did RBI singles by Chris Snyder and Jordan Schafer.

Shaun Marcum (2-2) was charged with four runs -- three earned -- on nine hits over five innings in the loss. He walked one and struck out five.

"It's always good when we go home because we need to get it going," said Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke. "Maybe going home will help us, but we need to get some things corrected offensively."

Milwaukee slugger Ryan Braun came to the plate with one down and the bases loaded in the third inning. A walk to Marcum, a double by Norichika Aoki and an infield single by Rickie Weeks preceded Braun's at-bat, which resulted in a pop out to first baseman Carlos Lee in foul territory. Aramis Ramirez grounded out to end the threat and the Astros went on top for good an inning later.

Lee began the fourth with a base hit before Lowrie sent a 3-2 fastball over the fence in right. Later in the inning, Snyder scored Brian Bogusevic with a line drive to center and Schafer followed with a two-out RBI single to cap the scoring.

Game Notes

The Astros' only other sweep this season occurred April 30-May 2, when they took three games from the Mets. They also earned their first sweep of the Brewers since winning three straight games from July 30-August 1 in 2010...Interleague play begins for both teams on Friday. The Brewers will host the Twins for three games while the Astros welcome the Texas Rangers for three games in the annual Lone Star Series.
