Tight End Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Garrett Graham, TE, HOUCold10/20/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Texans TE Garrett Graham was held without a catch in Houston's Week 6 loss to the Colts as he continues his slid from fantasy-worthy status.
Insight: Graham caught 49 balls for 545 yards and five touchdowns while sharing time with Owen Daniels last season and some thought he could blossom with Daniels in Baltimore. That hasn't happened and we aren't expecting much from him on Monday night against the Steelers.
Julius Thomas, TE, DEN10/20/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Broncos tight end Julius Thomas posted a disappointing four catches for 27 yards and no touchdowns.
Insight: Thomas' streak of five games with at least one touchdown pass came to an end Sunday night against the 49ers, but no fantasy owner can complain about his production this season.
Jason Witten, TE, DALCold10/20/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten continues to be ignored in the Dallas offensive game plans.
Insight: Witten was targeted just twice against the Giants. The Cowboys did hit backup tight end Gavin Escobar for two touchdowns. Those used to go to Witten. It's time to move on from the two-time All-Pro.
Gavin Escobar, TE, DAL10/20/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: For the first time this season Cowboys backup tight end Gavin Escobar produced fantasy worthy statistics.
Insight: Escobar caught three balls for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He'll have to do it more than once before we declare him fantasy worthy, but its a start.
Larry Donnell, TE, NYG10/20/2014 9:49:00 AM
Description: Giants tight end Larry Donnell was effective against the Cowboys, rebounding from an ugly outing against the Eagles.
Insight: Donnell caught all seven targets for a team-leading 90 yards. Unfortunately he fumbled twice in the fourth quarter.
Antonio Gates, TE, SDC10/20/2014 9:33:00 AM
Description: Chargers tight end Antonio Gates had a couple of All-Pro catches, but his game numbers were just average - three receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: It all came down to the fact the Chiefs held the ball for 39 minutes and the Chargers offense didn't get enough chances.
Greg Olsen, TE, CAR10/19/2014 7:34:00 PM
Description: Panthers tight end Greg Olsen led the team with eight catches and 105 receiving yards in Week 7.
Insight: Carolina really struggled on offense, so Olsen was one of the bright spots. He caught all eight of his targets.
Jimmy Graham, TE, NOS10/19/2014 7:21:00 PM
Description: Saints tight end Jimmy Graham did not catch a pass against the Lions in Week 7.
Insight: Graham played just 30 snaps due to his shoulder injury. Drew Brees targeted him twice, and Graham caught neither. The good news is he did not appear to suffer any setbacks.
Martellus Bennett, TE, CHI10/19/2014 7:02:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett had 58 receiving yards on Sunday versus Miami.
Insight: Bennett had five catches but did not score as Matt Forte scored both of the Chicago touchdowns. He is still a TE1 in all formets.
Scott Chandler, TE, BUF10/19/2014 6:45:00 PM
Description: Bills tight end Scott Chandler caught three passes for 36 yards on Sunday against the Vikings.
Insight: Chandler, like most tight ends, is sort of boom-or-bust. He will occasionally have a big game but will mostly sit between the 30-60 yard range.
Owen Daniels, TE, BAL10/19/2014 6:25:00 PM
Description: Ravens tight end Owen Daniels caught a touchdown pass in Week 7 against the Falcons.
Insight: Daniels led the team with six receptions and nine targets on Sunday. It was Daniels' third touchdown of the season, and we expect him to continue to be involved in the passing game.
Jordan Reed, TE, WAS10/19/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed had five catches for 54 yards on Sunday versus the Titans.
Insight: Reed had a nice day as he tied Pierre Garcon for the team lead with six targets, but Niles Paul had the big play out of the tight ends. Paul had a 50-yard catch and outgained Reed in the passing game, 58 to 54, even though Reed had three more catches.
Delanie Walker, TE, TEN10/19/2014 6:01:00 PM
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker had a disappointing game against the Redskins.
Insight: Walker had two catches for 17 yards. Unfortunately, the magic Walker had at the beginning of the season seems to have faded. Walker also seems more productive when Jake Locker is under center.
Clay Harbor, TE, JAC10/19/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor led the team with six catches on Sunday against the Browns.
Insight: Harbor did not get many yards on those catches as he finished with 34 receiving yards, but it was nice to see him involved in the offense.
Jordan Cameron, TE, CLE10/19/2014 5:42:00 PM
Description: Browns tight end Jordan Cameron had one catch for five yards in Jacksonville.
Insight: We thought Cameron turned the corner last week against the Steelers. Turns out he still has some fantasy busts in him.
Dwayne Allen, TE, IND10/19/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Colts tight end Dwayne Allen caught three passes for 52 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals on Sunday.
Insight: Allen has found the end zone in five of seven games this season. With that large of a sample size, owners really need to consider picking this guy up off the waiver wire.
Jermaine Gresham, TE, CIN10/19/2014 5:22:00 PM
Description: Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham led the team with 10 catches on Sunday against the Colts.
Insight: Without A.J. Green, Gresham had his breakout game with catches. He led the team with 12 targets. Unfortunately, he only averaged 4.8 yards per catch and Cincinnati was shutout.
Greg Olsen, TE, CAR10/19/2014 12:20:00 PM
Description: Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is active as expected.
Insight: Olsen didn't miss any practice time to his sore ankle and should be started as always.
Owen Daniels, TE, BAL10/19/2014 12:12:00 PM
Description: Ravens tight end Owen Daniels is active for Week 7.
Insight: Daniels appeared on the practice report for non-injury reasons. Start him as you normally would.
Jimmy Graham, TE, NOS10/19/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Saints tight end Jimmy Graham plans to play in Week 7 against the Lions according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Graham plans to test out his shoulder to make sure. He will have a limited role, likely playing in red zone packages. The Saints used Graham the same way for a few games last year, and he still managed to lead the NFL with 16 receiving touchdowns. Graham is still a must-start.
Vernon Davis, TE, SFX10/17/2014 5:21:00 PM
Description: 49ers tight end Vernon Davis (back) is listed as probable entering Week 7 against Denver.
Insight: He didn't have any setbacks this week in practice, as he was able to be a full participant throughout. He will be a TE1 for Sunday night's matchup.
Jimmy Graham, TE, NOS10/17/2014 3:42:00 PM
Description: Saints tight end Jimmy Graham isn't sounding optimistic about his chances of playing Sunday.
Insight: Graham was expected to miss a couple of weeks with his shoulder injury, but is hoping it will get better by Sunday pre-game. Our best guess is that Ben Watson will be the Saints starter come kickoff.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, NEP10/17/2014 9:49:00 AM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski didn't produce big numbers Thursday night, but not because Tom Brady didn't try to get him the ball.
Insight: Gronkowski led the Patriots with 10 targets, but caught just five of them for 68 yards. He's healthy and this was just a game in which the Pats featured Shane Vereen, so no need to panic.
Jace Amaro, TE, NYJ10/17/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Jets rookie tight end Jace Amaro had a tough night against New England catching just three passes for 22 yards.
Insight: Like all rookies, Amaro is inconsistent and it doesn't help that he's got Geno Smith as his quarterback.
Jeff Cumberland, TE, NYJ10/17/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland has taken a backseat to Jace Amaro of late, but he was the better tight end Thursday night.
Insight: Cumberland caught 3-of-4 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown. He's still not fantasy owrthy.
Eric Ebron, TE, DETCold10/16/2014 4:21:00 PM
Description: Detroit rookie tight end Eric Ebron has a hamstring injury from practice Wednesday and did not practice Thursday.
Insight: Seems like Matthew Stafford will be missing another weapon Sunday. He's already likely to be without WR Calvin Johnson and TE Joseph Fauria.
Jimmy Graham, TE, NOS10/16/2014 3:30:00 PM
Description: Saints coach Sean Payton insists he's optimistic that tight end Jimmy Graham might play in Week 7.
Insight: Sounds a bit like the A.J. Green situation with the coach playing games with the defensive coordinator. Graham was expected to miss a couple of weeks with his shoulder injury.
Jace Amaro, TE, NYJ10/16/2014 2:14:00 PM
Description: Jets rookie tight end Jace Amaro, dealing with a knee issue, should be ready to go after a full practice Tuesday.
Insight: The Jets offense is a mess, Amaro is coming off 10-catch, 68-yard one touchdown game against the Broncos in Week 6.
Zach Miller, TE, SEA10/15/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Seahawks tight end Zach Miller has been ruled out for Week 7 at the Rams according to ESPN.
Insight: Luke Wilson will start at tight end. Miller remains week-to-week.
Jared Cook, TE, STL10/14/2014 12:32:00 AM
Description: Rams tight end Jared Cook was active tonight with 11 targets, but caught just four for 74 yards.
Insight: Cook had a chance to have a big night but dropped a couple of easy balls. A lot has been expected of him, but he's yet to produce on a consistent basis.
Vernon Davis, TE, SFXCold10/14/2014 12:23:00 AM
Description: 49ers tight end Vernon Davis was active for Monday night against the Rams, but looked like a guy who had missed a lot of practice time.
Insight: Davis saw six targets and grabbed three for 30 yards, but dropped at least two others.
Vernon Davis, TE, SFX10/13/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is active for Monday night against the Rams.
Insight: Davis is worth starting in most fantasy formats. We expect the 49ers to continue its heavy dose of Frank Gore, but perhaps Davis catches a touchdown.
Delanie Walker, TE, TEN10/13/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker had a disappointing game against the Jaguars.
Insight: Walker still caught three passes for 57 yards, but against arguably the worst defense in the league, Walker had one of his worst statistical days so far in 2014. He seems to be more productive with Jake Locker while Charlie Whitehurst favors Justin Hunter.
Heath Miller, TE, PIT10/13/2014 6:34:00 PM
Description: Steelers tight end Heath Miller had two catches for 19 yards against the Browns.
Insight: Miller did not escape the Steelers poor play on offense against the Browns. The tight end had a couple drops as the offense hit its low point for the season. Miller is a hit-or-miss fantasy player.
Jace Amaro, TE, NYJ10/13/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Jets rookie tight end Jace Amaro had 10 catches for 68 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos in Week 6.
Insight: The Jets offense is a mess, but Eric Decker and Jace Amaro are the only players worth owning on the unit. Decker and Amaro will give owners spotty productive just because Geno Smith cannot be counted on week-to-week.
Clay Harbor, TE, JAC10/13/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor was the team's big playmaker in Week 6 against the Titans.
Insight: Harbor caught a 59-yard pass and a 20-yard touchdown. He finished with three catches for 91 yards, which was second behind Shorts' 103 yards.
Dwayne Allen, TE, IND10/13/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Colts tight end Dwayne Allen broke his three-game touchdown streak on Thursday night against the Texans.
Insight: Allen caught just three of seven targets for 49 yards. He remains an interesting tight end starter but is reliant on finding the end zone.
Martellus Bennett, TE, CHI10/13/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett had 52 receiving yards during Sunday's win against Atlanta.
Insight: He did so on four catches. While his numbers have took a little bit of a hit over the past two weeks, Bennett maintains his TE1 status, in Chicago's high-octane offense.
Julius Thomas, TE, DEN10/13/2014 5:47:00 PM
Description: Broncos tight end Julius Thomas had four catches for 51 yards and two more touchdowns in Week 6 against the Jets.
Insight: Thomas is no longer putting up huge yardage totals, but he has scored in every game this season. In the first five games, Thomas has an incredible nine touchdown catches. That's a ridiculous pace to keep up, but he has shown no signs of slowing down.
Jason Witten, TE, DAL10/13/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: Cowboys tight end Jason Witten scored his first touchdown of 2014.
Insight: That was the highlight of the day for Witten, as he totaled only two receptions for 24 yards. While Witten is valuable to the Cowboys' team, he is no more than a TE2 in fantasy football.
Jermaine Gresham, TE, CIN10/13/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham was second on the team in targets and catches in Week 6 against the Panthers.
Insight: Without A.J. Green, Gresham finally took advantage the absence of fellow tight end Tyler Eifert. Gresham caught six passes for 68 yards and received seven targets. If Green does not suit up again, and he is already doubtful, then Gresham is another solid TE start against the Colts next week.
Scott Chandler, TE, BUF10/13/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Bills tight end Scott Chandler was the leading receiver for Buffalo in Week 6 against the Patriots.
Insight: Chandler caught six passes for 105 yards. Kyle Orton looks very comfortable with Chandler as he only targeted receiver Robert Woods more than he targeted his tight end. Chandler is a solid TE1 in 12-team leagues going forward.
Greg Olsen, TE, CAR10/13/2014 5:19:00 PM
Description: Panthers tight end Greg Olsen led Carolina in receiving during Sunday's tie to Cincinnati.
Insight: He had six receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown, on 11 targets. Olsen continues to be a reliable option for both Cam Newton and fantasy owners. Start him with confidence.
Owen Daniels, TE, BAL10/13/2014 5:17:00 PM
Description: Ravens tight end Owen Daniels caught two passes for 34 yards in Week 6 against the Buccaneers.
Insight: Owners could have picked up Daniels due to the favorable matchup against Tampa Bay, but Joe Flacco ate up the Buccaneers secondary so badly, he didn't need to look for his tight end much. Daniels will remain a low-end TE1 in a 12-team league based on matchups.
Larry Donnell, TE, NYG10/13/2014 4:51:00 PM
Description: Giants tight end Larry Donnell had only one catch in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia.
Insight: He made a miraculous juggling catch for a touchdown, only for it to be called back on an offensive holding call. Donnell totaled only six yards and two targets, and should be considered a low-end TE1 for now.
Vernon Davis, TE, SFX10/13/2014 1:20:00 PM
Description: 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is questionable for Monday night's game with St. Louis after being limited in practice all week.
Insight: Davis left Sunday's game against the Eagles with back spasms after he took a hit from inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans and didn't play in Week 5. He'll be a true game-time decision.
Antonio Gates, TE, SDC10/13/2014 11:12:00 AM
Description: Chargers tight end Antonio Gates saw a team-high eight targets, but caught just three balls for 27 yards.
Insight: At least he scored on one of the three catches to make his day more palatable to fantasy owners.
Jordan Reed, TE, WAS10/13/2014 10:30:00 AM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed returned to action and saw a team-high 11 targets.
Insight: Reed posted eight receptions for 92 yards and sent backup Niles Paul back to the bench.
Zach Ertz, TE, PHI10/13/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Eagles tight end Zach Ertz scored for the first time since the season opener.
Insight: Ertz has made some clutch catches this season, but his fantasy totals haven't reflected that. He's seeing just over five targets per game, but has yet to do much with them.
Jordan Cameron, TE, CLE10/12/2014 6:33:00 PM
Description: Browns tight end Jordan Cameron had his best game of 2014 against Pittsburgh.
Insight: He had three receptions for 102 yards, and a touchdown on Sunday. It was a welcomed sight for owners, as Cameron will be a borderline TE1, from here on out.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, NEP10/12/2014 6:20:00 PM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski totaled 94 yards on Sunday.
Insight: He had seven receptions, and seems to be fully healthy. Brandon LaFell hauled in two touchdowns from Tom Brady as well.
Greg Olsen, TE, CAR10/12/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Panthers tight end Greg Olsen will play Sunday.
Insight: Olsen leads the team in catches and receiving touchdowns through five weeks after a 6-72-2 Week 5. He's dealing with an ankle issue, but has a decent mtachup versis the Bengals who gave up a lot of yards last week to New England's tight ends.
Jimmy Graham, TE, NOS10/12/2014 11:22:00 AM
Description: Saints tight end Jimmy Graham could miss 2-3 weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Insight: Graham and the Saints have a bye this weekend, so this won't change lineups in Week 6, but fantasy owners should make plans to be without their start tight end for a couple of weeks.
Jordan Reed, TE, WAS10/12/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been cleared to play Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Insight: That's great news, if he is indeed active. He's still likely to be on a snap count and share receiving duties with Niles Paul.
Jordan Reed, TE, WAS10/11/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed will see a "decent amount" of snaps if he is active against the Cardinals according to ESPN.
Insight: That's great news, if he is indeed active. Will he be? All signs point to yes, but the Redskins play at 4:25 ET on Sunday, so it will take a small leap of faith to roll with Reed. The Cardinals do give up the sixth most fantasy points in the league. So he has that going for him ... which is nice. Even if he plays, Reed is a boom-or-bust this week.
Jordan Cameron, TE, CLE10/10/2014 7:47:00 PM
Description: Browns tight end Jordan Cameron is probable for Week 6.
Insight: We say fire the Browns tight end up for this "friendly" matchup against the Steelers. Cameron has just 56 receiving yards over the last two games, but he looks completely healthy. He also had 47 yards on two catches before exiting with an injury Week 1 versus Pittsburgh.
Jordan Reed, TE, WAS10/9/2014 7:08:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed was limited in Thursday's practice but told reporters that he expects to play on Sunday against the Cardinals.
Insight: It will be Reed's first game since Week 1. With Kirk Cousins having a bounce back game against the Legion of Boom on Monday night, Reed is a low-end TE1 this weekend.
Greg Olsen, TE, CAR10/9/2014 1:32:00 PM
Description: Panthers tight end Greg Olsen missed a second practice, but is expected to play Sunday, according to beat writer Steve Reed.
Insight: Olsen leads the team in catches and receiving touchdowns through five weeks after a 6-72-2 Week 5.
Tom Crabtree, TE, NOS10/9/2014 1:13:00 PM
Description: The Saints signed Tom Crabtree.
Insight: Its purely an insurance policy in case Jimmy Graham isn't ready, though with a bye week that isn't likely. Crabtree has no fantasy value.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, NEPHot10/8/2014 5:59:00 PM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been removed from the Week 6 injury report.
Insight: Gronkowski's snaps and statistics have been trending up the entire year, so this news is just further indication that the tight end is getting healthy. Gronkowski is a top-three tight end this Sunday against the Bills.
Jordan Cameron, TE, CLE10/8/2014 5:46:00 PM
Description: Browns tight end Jordan Cameron has been fully practicing this week.
Insight: Cameron has been disappointing this year with six receptions for 103 yards but two catches and 47 of those yards came against the Steelers before he left with a shoulder injury in Week 1. If he can stay on the field for the entire game in Week 6, we expect Cameron to put up his most productive fantasy day of 2014.
Niles Paul, TE, WAS10/6/2014 7:42:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul (concussion) is active for Monday night's game against the Seahawks.
Insight: Paul is the starter as Jordan Reed is inactive for the fourth straight game. Seattle actually struggles against tight ends, so if there is any player a fantasy owner wants starting against the Seahawks on Monday, it would be Paul.
Jordan Reed, TE, WAS10/6/2014 7:36:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed is inactive for Monday night's game against the Seahawks.
Insight: Reed has not played since the season opener. He practiced a little this week, so he is a strong candidate to return in Week 6. Niles Paul, who suffered a concussion last Thursday, will start in Reed's place.
Tim Wright, TE, NEPHot10/6/2014 10:43:00 AM
Description: Patriots tight end Tim Wright was very active Sunday night, catching all five targets for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Wright seemed to be everywhere, but in fact, he was only out there for 19 of 86 plays. When he was out there he was a factor, but we'd like to see him out there more.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, NEPHot10/6/2014 10:40:00 AM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski looked as healthy as we have seen him all season.
Insight: Gronkowski was feisty and productive as he caught six passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Antonio Gates, TE, SDC10/6/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Chargers tight end Antonio Gates caught just four balls for 60 yards, but two were for touchdowns to make Chargers fans and fantasy owners happy.
Insight: It's been feast or famine with Gates this season with two huge games and three weak ones. It's likely to stay that way as quarterback Philip Rivers doesn't usually force the ball to any one receiver, instead taking what the defense gives him.
Julius Thomas, TE, DEN10/6/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Broncos tight end Julius Thomas caught six passes for 66 yards, but with a couple of touchdowns to make fantasy owners happy.
Insight: Thomas hasn't put up many yards since the opening game, but he's scored in every game this season and with Sunday's two touchdowns it brings his total to seven for the season.
