Third Base Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Ryan Zimmerman, 3B, WAS9/19/2014 7:18:00 PM
Description: Nationals 3B/LF Ryan Zimmerman is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Saturday.
Insight: Zimmerman went 3-for-8 with a home run while hitting at the Nationals' spring training complex. He apparently did not have any issues with his right hamstring. He will likely not play everyday, but Nationals manager Matt Williams will welcome the extra bat with open arms.
Adrian Beltre, 3B, TEX9/19/2014 2:33:00 PM
Description: Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is a career .429 (6-for-14) with three home runs against Angels left-hander Hector Santiago.
Insight: Beltre is having another tremendous season, batting .322 with 18 home runs, 71 RBI and 77 runs.
Aramis Ramirez, 3B, MIL9/18/2014 3:08:00 PM
Description: Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez and second basemen Scotter Gennett are each 6-for-13 (.462) against Cardinals starter Shelby Miller.
Insight: Ramirez has the superior power numbers, hitting two home runs and five RBI off Miller. Either one is a worthy start on Thursday as the Brewers take the field for their most important game of the season to date.
Aramis Ramirez, 3B, MIL9/17/2014 11:31:00 AM
Description: Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez has ridiculous numbers versus Cardinals' ace Adam Wainwright.
Insight: He is 23-for-56 lifetime against Wainwright, with 11 extra-base hits. Not many players hit Wainwright this well, especially righties. Make sure Ramirez is in your lineup for tonight's big game against St. Louis.
Ryan Zimmerman, 3B, WAS9/16/2014 6:03:00 PM
Description: Nationals 3B/LF played three innings at first base in a simulated game on Tuesday.
Insight: Zimmerman hit two doubles in five at-bats and ran the bases without issues. He is expected to play five innings at first base on Wednesday and hopes to return in the final week of the regular season.
Matt Clark, 3B, MIL9/16/2014 4:19:00 PM
Description: He's only played in nine games and totaled 17 official at-bats, but Milwaukee 1B Matt Clark is quickly making a name for himself.
Insight: Clark homered in his third consecutive game Sunday and is back in the lineup Tuesday. He batted .304 with 26 homers in 120 minor league games this season between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Nashville.
Steve Tolleson, 3B, TOR9/15/2014 4:22:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays infielder Steve Tolleson is starting at third base Monday night.
Insight: Tolleson has been pretty irrelavent in 2014 (.232 BA, 3 HR, 14 RBI), but has been given the nod tonight at third base. With only four at-bats over the past 14 days, Tolleson is not a recommended daily fantasy option.
Mike Moustakas, 3B, KAN9/15/2014 3:48:00 PM
Description: Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas is not in Monday's starting lineup.
Insight: Moustakas has a bad history versus John Danks (1-for-13), so this isn't a surprise. Jayson Nix will get the start at the hot corner. Nix and his .130 batting average has no fantasy value.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PIT9/14/2014 7:18:00 PM
Description: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison went 2-for-5 with a two-run double and scored against the Cubs on Sunday
Insight: Harrison's two-RBI double started a big fifth inning for the Pirates as they erased a 3-0 deficit to comeback and win, 7-3. Harrison is hitting .357 in September and now leads the National League with a .317 batting average. He also has a .351 on-base percentage and .508 slugging percentage with 51 RBI and 71 runs.
Todd Frazier, 3B, CIN9/14/2014 7:01:00 PM
Description: Reds 3B/1B Todd Frazier hit his 26th home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.
Insight: Frazier hit a solo shot in the sixth, which accounted for half of the Reds runs on the day. Along with the 26 diggers, Frazier has 75 RBI, 79 runs and 20 stolen bases.
Kyle Seager, 3B, SEACold9/14/2014 12:36:00 PM
Description: Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager is a career .308 hitter with two home runs against Athletics pitcher Jon Lester.
Insight: Seager does not have a hit in a week, so it is tough to plug him into the lineup right now. Hopefully he turns it around with a matchup he has had success with in the past. Seager is batting .272 with 23 home runs and 88 RBI this year.
Yangervis Solarte, 3B, SDP9/14/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Padres infielder Yangervis Solarte was 2-for-4 with a home run against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Insight: Solarte hit a solo home run in the seventh inning as the Padres tried to rally from a six-run deficit. San Diego ended up losing, 10-4. Solarte is 4-for-9 in the weekend series with Arizona.
Todd Frazier, 3B, CIN9/14/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Reds 3B/1B Todd Frazier went 3-for-4 with two runs and a strikeout to help the Reds defeat the Brewers, 5-1, on Saturday.
Insight: It was Frazier's third multi-hit game in the last nine games. He is hitting .279 in September and that is his season batting average as well. Frazier also has 25 home runs, 74 RBI and 78 runs this year.
Aramis Ramirez, 3B, MIL9/14/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez hit a solo home run against the Reds on Saturday.
Insight: The homer was the lone Brewers run as Milwaukee lost to Cincinnati, 5-1. It was also only one of two hits the Brewers recorded on Saturday. Ramirez has 15 homers this year with 65 RBI and is batting .296. The way the Brewers are struggling as a team, it is hard to keep throwing their players into fantasy lineups on a daily basis.
Evan Longoria, 3B, TAM9/13/2014 4:09:00 PM
Description: Rays third baseman Evan Longoria went 2-for-4 with a home run on Saturday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: The homer was Longoria's 21st of the year. The third baseman is also hitting .252/.320/.406 with 87 RBI.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PIT9/12/2014 11:00:00 PM
Description: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison went 3-for-4 on Friday to move back in front of Justin Morneau for the NL batting title lead as the Pirates defeated the Cubs, 7-3.
Insight: Harrison went 0-for-5 on Thursday to drop his average to .314 but he is back to .318 after Friday. In his last two games against the Cubs, Harrison is 7-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI. He also walked on Friday.
Anthony Rendon, 3B, WASHot9/12/2014 10:57:00 PM
Description: Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon went 3-for-5 on Friday despite his career .100 average against Mets starter Dillon Gee, but it wasn't enough as Washington lost to New York, 4-3.
Insight: Rendon hit a home run in the fifth to tie the game, 3-3, but New York answered to take the lead for good in the bottom of the inning. Rendon is 6-for-10 so far in New York with two home runs, a double, three RBI, and four runs as he continues his breakout season. The 24-year-old is batting .285 with 20 homers and 80 RBI while playing both second and third base.
Cody Asche, 3B, PHI9/12/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Phillies third baseman Cody Asche hit a walkoff home run to defeat the Marlins, 3-1, on Friday.
Insight: Asche hit his homer in the tenth off Marlins reliever pitcher Dan Jennings. The bomb was Asche's 10th of the year. He is hitting .254 with 45 RBI in 362 at-bats.
Todd Frazier, 3B, CINCold9/12/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: Reds 3B/1B Todd Frazier is just 2-for-18 (.111) against Milwaukee starter Kyle Lohse.
Insight: Frazier's numbers since the All-Star break aren't very good (.249, 6 HR, 21 RBI, .667 OPS) and this matchup won't help. Frazier is hitting .276 with 74 RBI and .789 OPS to go along with the 25 homers.
Anthony Rendon, 3B, WAS9/12/2014 1:26:00 PM
Description: Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon may be having a breakout season, but he's just a .100 hitter (2-for-20) against Mets starter Dillon Gee.
Insight: Rendon has been very good for Washington this year, playing second and third (while Ryan Zimmerman has been out) and hitting .282 with 19 home runs, 79 RBI, a league-leading 105 runs and a .812 OPS this year.
Chase Headley, 3B, NYY9/12/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Yankees third baseman Chase Headley is doubtful for Friday's doubleheader against Baltimore.
Insight: Headley was hit in the jaw by a pitch and is expected to stay in New York Friday. He's done little this season for fantasy owners, batting .238 with 11 HR, 45 RBI and a .679 OPS.
David Wright, 3B, NYM9/10/2014 3:41:00 PM
Description: Mets will start Daniel Murphy at 3B with regular third baseman David Wright dealing with his shoulder injury.
Insight: The move allows Dilson Herrera to get at-bats at second base. Wright is expected to be shut down for the remainder of the season, according to beat reporter Adam Rubin.
Anthony Rendon, 3B, WAS9/10/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon is a career .000 hitter against Braves starter Aaron Harang and is not in the starting lineup.
Insight: OK, he's faced him just seven times. He's also dealing with an illness that could keep in sidelined for a couple of days. Rendon has been very good for Washington this year, playing second and third (while Ryan Zimmerman has been out). He is hitting .279 with 18 home runs, 77 RBI, a league-leading 103 runs and a .803 OPS this year.
Will Middlebrooks, 3B, BOS9/10/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks is questionable for Wednesday's game against Baltimore having caught the bug that's been going around the Red Sox clubhouse.
Insight: It's a shame as Middlebrooks has an excellent matchup Wednesday against Wei-Yin Chen. He's a career .421 hitter against the Orioles left-hander. Update: Middlebrooks is not in the lineup.
Anthony Rendon, 3B, WAS9/10/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon is a career .000 hitter against Braves starter Aaron Harang,
Insight: OK, he's faced him just seven times. Rendon has been very good for Washington this year, playing second and third (while Ryan Zimmerman has been out). He is hitting .279 with 18 home runs, 77 RBI, a league-leading 103 runs and a .803 OPS this year. This matchup, however, isn't a good one.
Will Middlebrooks, 3B, BOS9/10/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks is questionable for Wednesday's game against Baltimore having caught the bug that's been going around the Red Sox clubhouse.
Insight: It's a shame as Middlebrooks has an excellent matchup Wednesday against Wei-Yin Chen. He's a career .421 hitter against the Orioles left-hander.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PIT9/9/2014 3:58:00 PM
Description: Pirates star utility man Josh Harrison was not in the lineup on Monday, but is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: Harrison rolled his left ankle making a catch on Saturday. He has not played since then. The 27-year-old has had a tremendous season, batting .315 with 13 HR, 48 RBI, 66 runs and 17 SB in 124 games.
Kris Bryant, 3B, CHCHot9/9/2014 2:16:00 PM
Description: Cubs minor league third baseman Kris Bryant was named the 2014 Minor league Player of the Year by Baseball America.
Insight: It wasn't much of a contest. The 22-year-old Bryant blasted 43 home runs, 78 extra-base hits, 110 RBI while batting a combined .325 at Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa. He even stole 15 bases. He should be a fixture for the Cubs starting next season and he likely won't come cheap at your fantasy draft.
Evan Longoria, 3B, TAM9/9/2014 11:46:00 AM
Description: Rays third baseman Evan Longoria is a career .417 hitter (10-for-24) against Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda.
Insight: Longoria continues to muddle through with mediocre number for a hitter of his talent. He's hitting .254 with 19 home runs, 83 RBI and a .723 OPS. The good news is he's hit .300 this week entering this favorable matchup.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PIT9/9/2014 10:36:00 AM
Description: Pirates star utility man Josh Harrison was not in the starting lineup on Monday and is questionable for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: Harrison rolled his left ankle making a catch on Saturday. He has not played since then. The 27-year-old has had a tremendous season, batting .315 with 13 HR, 48 RBI, 66 runs and 17 SB in 124 games.
Lonnie Chisenhall, 3B, CLE9/8/2014 4:33:00 PM
Description: Indians 3B/DH Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Monday's loss to the Angels.
Insight: Chisenhall accounted for all the Indians' runs, hitting a two-run home run in the fifth and driving in Carlos Santana in the sixth. The Angels beat the Indians, 12-3. Chisenhall raises his season totals to .291 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PITHot9/8/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Phillies.
Insight: Harrison rolled his left ankle making a catch on Saturday. He has not played since then. Pittsburgh has won the last two games without him. Brent Morel will play third on Monday. Harrison has had a tremendous season, so Pittsburgh hopes to get him back soon.
Kyle Seager, 3B, SEAHot9/8/2014 12:21:00 PM
Description: Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager is 6-for-16 (.375) with a double and home run in his career against Astros starter Brad Peacock.
Insight: Seager has been hitting the ball well lately, going 3-for-5 on Saturday and 3-for-4 last Wednesday. In the first week of September, Seager hit .385 with three home runs. With the recent hot streak and favorable matchup, he is a must-start on Monday.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PITHot9/7/2014 7:26:00 PM
Description: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison did not play on Sunday against the Cubs.
Insight: Harrison left after rolling his left ankle after making a catch in the first game on Saturday and did not return. He went through drills in Sunday's pre-game but apparently did not feel well enough to go. Pittsburgh did just fine, scoring 10 runs.
Mike Olt, 3B, CHC9/7/2014 7:21:00 PM
Description: Cubs third baseman Mike Olt had a career-day, hitting 3-for-3 with a RBI on Sunday against the Pirates.
Insight: Even with the three hits on Sunday, Olt is hitting .154 in 195 at-bats this season. At one point, fantasy owners could put up with the bismol batting average because he was on pace to hit 25 home runs. Olt's power numbers, however, have evaporated in the second half as he is sitting with 12 homers on the year. He is Dan Uggla with less power.
David Wright, 3B, NYM9/7/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Mets third baseman David Wright is a career 2-for-14 (.143) hitter against Reds starter Mat Latos.
Insight: However, Wright's two hits against Latos are a double and home run. The third baseman had a big game on Friday, going 4-for-5 with a double, and followed that up, hitting 1-for-4 on Saturday.
Juan Uribe, 3B, LOS9/7/2014 10:37:00 AM
Description: Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe is a career 2-for-15 (.133) hitter against Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill.
Insight: Uribe is hitting .294 so far in September with one home run and four RBI but this is a matchup to stay away from. Uribe is hitting .294 with seven home runs and 41 RBI in 326 at-bats this year.
Kyle Seager, 3B, SEA9/7/2014 10:11:00 AM
Description: Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager went 3-for-5, hitting a two-run home run, as the Mariners beat the Rangers, 4-2, on Saturday.
Insight: The home run was Seager's 23rd of the season, which is a new career high. Seager's 88 RBI is also a career high. The first baseman did have a chance to put the game out of reach but grounded into a double play in the top of the ninth. In the eighth, Seager appeared to jam his ankle trying to round third base, but he finished the game. We will continue to monitor the situation.
Aramis Ramirez, 3B, MIL9/7/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez is a career .415 hitter (22-for-53) against Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.
Insight: Ramirez has cooled since completing a huge August (.380, 2 HR, 13 RBI, .961 OPS). He's batted just .217 over his last six games.
Casey McGehee, 3B, MIA9/6/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run on Saturday in a loss against the Braves.
Insight: McGehee has hits in his last nine games and is batting .364 over that stretch. McGehee has been a tremendous surprise for the Marlins this year, hitting .295 with 32 extra-base hits and 66 RBI. The only blemish on McGehee's resume this year is his lack of home runs. He only has three the whole season.
Todd Frazier, 3B, CIN9/6/2014 8:16:00 PM
Description: Reds 3B/1B Todd Frazier hit a home run for the second straight game against the Mets, going 2-for-3, as the Reds won, 2-1, on Saturday.
Insight: Frazier broke out of his six-game slump on Friday, going 3-for-5. He is now 5-for-8 in the series against the Mets. The home run was Frazier's 25th of the season. Frazier is hitting .278 with 73 RBI and .801 OPS to go along with the 25 homers.
Josh Harrison, 3B, PITHot9/6/2014 5:15:00 PM
Description: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison left Saturday afternoon's resumed suspended game with an ankle injury according to Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Insight: Harrison suffered the injury making a catch in foul ground. Chase d'Arnaud replaced Harrison at third base. Before departing, Harrison went 4-for-6 with the game-winning single in the top of the 11th. With another game on Saturday, Harrison will likely need to rest and could be out a few days. The Pirates need him though as they continue to chase after a playoff spot.
Chris Johnson, 3B, ATLCold9/6/2014 11:48:00 AM
Description: Braves third baseman Chris Johnson is hitless in 12 at-bats against Miami right-hander Nathan Eovaldi.
Insight: Johnson is also hitless in his last five games, so avoid him at all costs. For the season he's batting .266, significantly down from last season when he batted .321.
Anthony Rendon, 3B, WASHot9/6/2014 11:02:00 AM
Description: Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon is a career .400 hitter with three home runs and a 1.438 OPS against Phillies right-hander A.J. Burnett.
Insight: Rendon has been sensational for Washington this year, playing second and third (while Ryan Zimmerman has been out). He finished a triple short of the cycle on Friday. Rendon e is hitting .279 with 18 home runs, 36 doubles, 75 RBI, a league-leading 101 runs and a .803 OPS this year. Must start him Saturday.
Todd Frazier, 3B, CIN9/5/2014 11:01:00 PM
Description: Reds 3B/1B Todd Frazier was 3-for-5 with an RBI and run in a losing effort against the Mets on Friday.
Insight: Frazier came into the game hitting .125 in his last six games, so the big game looks like the third baseman is out of his slump. On the season, Frazier is batting .276 with 24 home runs and 72 RBI.
David Wright, 3B, NYM9/5/2014 10:57:00 PM
Description: Mets third baseman David Wright went 4-for-5 with a RBI and two runs as the Mets routed the Reds, 14-5.
Insight: It was nice to see Wright explode for a big offensive night. The third baseman has had a tough year, nursing a shoulder injury for much of the second half. In his last three games, Wright has seven hits in 14 at-bats but also has an 0-for-5 night which came on Wednesday.
Evan Longoria, 3B, TAM9/5/2014 10:34:00 PM
Description: Rays third baseman Evan Longoria went 2-for-3, scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth as Tampa Bay beat Baltimore, 3-0.
Insight: One of Longoria's hits was a double. The third baseman has five hits in his last 11 at-bats, including a home run and three RBI. For the season, Longoria has been a little disappointing though, hitting .256 with 18 home runs and 81 RBI.
Josh Donaldson, 3B, OAK9/5/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson is a career 6-for-13 (.462) with five extra-base hits against Astros starter Brett Oberholtzer.
Insight: It was a rough series for Donaldson against Seattle, going 1-for-17, but perhaps he can restart in this favorable matchup. He's batting .255 with a career-high 26 HR and 89 RBI.
Adrian Beltre, 3B, TEX9/5/2014 11:36:00 AM
Description: Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is a career .357 (10-for-28) against Mariners right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma.
Insight: Beltre is one of the few hitters who is successful versus Iwakuma, who owns a career .232 batting average against mark. Beltre is having another tremendous season, batting .323 with 17 home runs, 27 doubles, 69 RBI and 68 runs.
