Description: Former Cardinals QB John Skelton has signed on with Tennessee. SOURCE: Chris Mortensen, ESPN
Insight: Skelton slots in as the backup behind starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. He owns a 63.0 QB rating in 20 career games.

Description: The 49ers signed quarterback John Skelton on Tuesday. SOURCE: Matt Barrows, Sacramento Bee
Insight: He'll be a distant third behind Colin Kaepernick and Colt McCoy on San Francisco's quarterback depth chart. Unless both of them get injured, Skelton won't see the field this season.

Description: Former Cardinals QB John Skelton was claimed off waivers by Cincinnati. SOURCE: Joe Reedy, Cincinnati Enquirer
Insight: Skelton produced two touchdowns and nine interceptions as a part time starter for Arizona last season. He won't have any fantasy value in 2013.

4/1/2013 8:05:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals have cut quarterback John Skelton.
Insight: Arizona is close to acquiring Carson Palmer from Oakland so it wouldn't make much sense to keep Skelton on the roster. If Skelton finds work next season it will probably be as a backup.

12/5/2012 4:31:00 PM
Description: Cardinals QB John Skelton will replace Rian Lindley at quarterback for Arizona's game with Seattle in Week 14, according to Mike Jurecki.
Insight: The Lindley experiment didn't last very long. Skelton has completed 54.7 percent of his passes this season for 1,058 yards, 2 TDs and 5 INTs.

11/18/2012 2:07:00 PM
Description: Cardinals QB John Skelton got off to a poor start Sunday against Atlanta and has been replaced by backup Rian Lindley.
Insight: The Lindley experiment might not last very long. He's already lost a fumble that ended up being returned for a TD. Skelton was 2-for-7 for six yards when he came out of the game.

10/16/2012 2:16:00 PM
Description: It appears opening day quarterback John Skelton (ankle) will get his job back as Adam Schefter is reporting Kevin Kolb will miss several weeks with a rib injury.
Insight: Skelton struggled in Kolb's place on Sunday, going 2-of-10 for 45 yards and an interception. Skelton injured an ankle in the season opener and missed four weeks of action.

9/28/2012 6:04:00 PM
Description: Arizona QB John Skelton (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 4, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website.
Insight: Even if Skelton is able to play it's doubtful Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt would risk changing what's working with Kevin Kolb.

9/16/2012 11:42:00 AM
Description: Arizona QB John Skelton (ankle) is inactive for Week 2.
Insight: We don't like either starter as a fantasy option at this point in time. Both struggled in preseason and haven't shown they can get the ball to their receivers on a consistent basis.

9/11/2012 2:40:00 PM
Description: Arizona QB John Skelton has an ankle sprain and is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks, according to a report at ProFootballTalk.com.
Insight: Coach Ken Whisenhunt did not rule out Skelton playing Sunday and refused to discuss Skelton's time frame at all during his Monday press conference. We'd like to rule out Skelton or Kevin Kolb from starting on any fantasy league team until they prove they can get the Cardinals offense moving.

9/10/2012 2:18:00 PM
Description: Arizona QB John Skelton has a low ankle sprain, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals official website.
Insight: Ken Whisenhunt did not rule out Skelton playing Sunday and refused to discuss Skelton's time frame at all during his Monday press conference.

9/9/2012 7:29:00 PM
Description: Cardinals QB John Skelton was carted off the field in the fourth quarter Sunday with an ankle injury.
Insight: As far as fantasy owners are concerned, the best man for the QB job in Arizona is the one who can get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald on a consistent basis. That wasn't Skelton Sunday.

8/31/2012 5:15:00 PM
Description: John Skelton will start at quarterback for the Cardinals in Week 1.
Insight: Skelton isn't anything special, but he's a better option for Arizona than Kevin Kolb. Star receiver Larry Fitzgerald put up his best numbers in the games Skelton started last season.

8/18/2012 5:56:00 PM
Description: John Skelton will start at quarterback in Arizona's fourth preseason game Thursday.
Insight: Skelton's competition, Kevin Kolb, has been awful this preseason (5-of-15, 47 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT), leaving Skelton as the favorite to take the starting job. That bodes well for star receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who caught 42 passes for 753 yards and six touchdowns in the eight games Skelton played, compared to 38/658/2 in his other eight games.

8/14/2012 6:08:00 PM
Description: Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt downplayed an ESPN report that said John Skelton is the favorite to win the team's QB battle.
Insight: Whisenhunt said the team will stick "with the process and let it play itself out." Neither Skelton nor Kolb is much of a fantasy option, though star receiver Larry Fitzgerald did catch 42 passes for 753 yards and six touchdowns in the eight games Skelton played, compared to 38/658/2 in his other eight games.

8/11/2012 11:53:00 AM
Description: Cardinals quarterback John Skelton started Arizona's second exhibition game but didn't do much to separate himself from Kevin Kolb in their competition for the starting quarterback job.
Insight: Skelton was 3-for-6 for 35 yards and an interception while Kolb was 1-for-5 for just 21 yards. Coach Ken Whisenhunt has previously indicated that naming his starting quarterback won't be made until the end of the preseason.

8/8/2012 10:59:00 AM
Description: Cardinals quarterback John Skelton is scheduled to start Arizona's second preseason game.
Insight: Kolb's injury has nothing to do with this change, it was planned even before he hurt his ribs in the Hall of Fame game. Coach Ken Whisenhunt has previously indicated that naming his starting quarterback won't be made until the end of the preseason.

8/6/2012 9:47:00 AM
Description: Cardinals quarterback John Skelton was 4-for-6 in his short stint in the Hall of Fame game, but he did lead the team on a long touchdown drive.
Insight: Skelton grabbed the first round in the five-round competition for Arizona's starting job. The Cardinals were 5-2 under Skelton last year and 3-6 with Kolb under center. Larry Fitzgerald owners would probably prefer Skelton who threw 5-of-11 TDs his way versus Kolb who threw only 2-of-9 touchdowns to the Cardinals superstar wideout.

12/28/2010 10:01:00 AM
Description: Even though Cardinals rookie QB John Skelton has shown improvement in the last couple games, there is still belief that the team will go out and sign a veteran this offseason. SOURCE: ARIZONA REPUBLIC
Insight: Skelton's numbers really haven't been all that great, but he may have played himself into the backup role ahead of Max Hall. Derek Anderson figures to be gone. We already posted that there is interest in Marc Bulger. And now with the drama in Washington, Donovan McNabb could be high on the list.

12/13/2010 10:17:00 AM
Description: Cardinals rookie QB John Skelton is predicted to remain the starter for the rest of the season. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Even though Skelton's numbers weren't that great Sunday, he still showed good command of the offense and showed a bit more upside than both Derek Anderson and Max Hall. Just the fact that he didn't turn the ball over was a great sign in itself. Skelton is a poor fantasy option against the Panthers, however.
