Description: Jets running back Chris Johnson (knee) has been medically cleared for training camp, according to ESPN.com.
Insight: Johnson sat out offseason activities after undergoing knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, which he says he suffered in Week 3 last year. He rushed for a career-low 3.9 ypc in 2013 but was still a fantasy factor because he received 279 carries, caught 42 balls and scored 10 touchdowns (six rushing). He's going to split carries with Chris Ivory on early downs and Bilal Powell will handle third downs, so Johnson may not reach 250 touches this season.

Description: Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn said that the team is "going to have to be strategic" in how it uses Chris Johnson to "keep him fresh so that he can be the explosive guy that I know that he can be." SOURCE: nj.com
Insight: Lynn said earlier this month that the Jets would use a hot-hand situation at running back. Johnson averaged 298 carries the past five seasons, but he may not reach 220 carries this year with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell also getting touches.
6/16/2014 1:55:00 PM
Description: Jets running back Chris Johnson will have first shot, but its likely to be a "go with the hot hand situation" according to RB coach Anthony Lynn.
Insight: That makes this situation a lot different than the one he had in Tennessee where he was definitively the No. 1 guy. In six seasons with the Titans the fewest attempts he saw were 251 in his rookie season. Johnson will battle with Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and Daryl Richardson for reps.
4/16/2014 3:18:00 PM
Description: The Jets have reached an agreement with three-time Pro Bowl running back Chris Johnson.
Insight: According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, it's a two-year, $8 million deal. Johnson's yards per carry dipped to 3.9 last season with Tennessee and the bigger Chris Ivory (6-foot, 222 pounds) will probably see most of the carries around the goal line. For the first time in years, Johnson isn't a must-start fantasy player.

Insight: The team is mulling the idea of a split backfield with Johnson and Chris Ivory as the two anchors. Johnson has been in decline for several years now and doesn't figure to be a top fantasy choice in 2014.

Description: It's official. The Titans have released running back Chris Johnson after six seasons. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, The Tennessean
Insight: The Titans couldn't find a trade partner, but the running back will certainly find another NFL job. The speedster has proven to be durable, having missed just one game in six seasons. He's never rushed for less than 1,047 yards and has recorded 58 touchdowns (50 rushing). Where he ends up will determine his future fantasy value.

Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson has a meeting with the GM Ruston Webster on Friday and could be released as soon as today.
Insight: The speedster has proven to be durable, having missed just one game in six seasons. He's never rushed for less than 1,047 yards and has recorded 58 touchdowns (50 rushing). The Titans couldn't find a trade partner, but the running back will certainly find another NFL job. Where he ends up will determine his future fantasy value.

Description: The Titans are expected to hand Chris Johnson his walking papers sometime in the next week. SOURCE: Jason La Canfora, CBS Sports
Insight: They couldn't drum up much trade interest for the veteran and now it appears they'll just let him walk. Johnson has rushed for 1,000 yards in all six seasons in the NFL while only missing one game over that stretch. He's owed $8 million in 2014.
3/10/2014 7:21:00 PM
Description: Teams don't seem to be interested in trading for Tennessee running back Chris Johnson, which means he'll probably be released sometime in the very near future.
Insight: ESPN's Adam Schefter believes it could happen any day now. When Johnson does get released, he'll immediately become the most sought after halfback in this year's free agent class.

Description: The Titans are putting running back Chris Johnson on the trading block. SOURCE: NBC's Pro Football Talk
Insight: Johnson has recorded at least 1,000 yards rushing in each of his six seasons in the league. Unfortunately for Tennessee, he's still owed $23 million over the next three seasons. If the Titans can't find a trade partner, there's a good chance Johnson will be released before June 1st.
1/27/2014 7:44:00 PM
Description: Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports is reporting that Titans RB Chris Johnson played the final 14 weeks of the 2013 season with a torn meniscus.
Insight: Johnson will have surgery on Tuesday. CJ2K managed 1,077 yards rushing, 345 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns in 16 games this season. He's only missed one game in six seasons in the league. Tennessee is expected to release him instead of paying him the $8 million he's owed for next season.

Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson says there's "no way" he'll take a pay cut next season and that he doesn't think it's his fault the running game has struggled. "It's a team effort," he said. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, the Tennessean
Insight: Johnson is scheduled to make $8 million in 2014 and likely will be released. The 28-year-old has rushed for 950 yards and five touchdowns on 252 carries (3.8 ypc) this season with a long gain of just 30 yards. He's added 39 catches for 331 yards and four touchdowns to rank ninth among running backs in fantasy points. Johnson has consistently shifted blame to his teammates for his struggles over the last few seasons.
12/22/2013 5:17:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson ran for 90 yards on 22 carries Sunday at Jacksonville.
Insight: Shonn Greene had 91 yards on 19 carries and scored a touchdown, which won't make Johnson owners happy. Johnson will need 50 rushing yards in Week 17 to reach 1,000 for the sixth straight season.

Description: It sounds like the Titans are going to cut Chris Johnson after the season. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: They'll probably try to trade Johnson first but it's doubtful anyone would be willing to take him given his enormous salary. Johnson is actually having a pretty good season but he doesn't fit the team's plans for rebuilding.
12/1/2013 5:16:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson has alternated double- and single-digit fantasy point efforts over his last eight games.
Insight: Sunday at Indianapolis was one of his good days. Johnson was held to 69 rushing yards on 18 carries but he had 32 receiving yards and a touchdown on six catches.
11/15/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson had another solid week running the ball, his second in three games.
Insight: Johnson posted two first quarter touchdown runs and it looked like he might explode for one of those monster games, but the Titans only ran him four times in the second half and the Colts clamped down on him to hold him to six yards after the break.
11/3/2013 5:21:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson broke out of a slump Sunday against the Rams.
Insight: Johnson carried the ball 23 times and rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. His long gain was just 24 yards, but he picked up big chunks of yardage on most of his carries. As we've been saying for several weeks, the Titans faced an extremely tough schedule in the first seven weeks of the season but now get a string of soft run defenses.
10/30/2013 9:29:00 PM
Description: While Titans coach Mike Munchak said Wednesday he'd like to get Shonn Greene 15 carries per game going forward, he also said he'd like Chris Johnson to get 20. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, Tennessean
Insight: Johnson has averaged just 11.5 carries the last four games and 16.4 per game for the season, so having two backs receive 15 carries would be a huge change for the Titans. We expect Johnson to continue to see around 15 total touches with Shonn Greene handling the ball 7-10 times and getting the goal-line carries. Johnson has one of his best matchups of the season in Week 9 against St. Louis, but he can only be counted on as a flex option this week.
10/20/2013 7:48:00 PM
Description: Titans running back Chris Johnson only had nine carries for 39 yards on the ground Sunday against the 49ers but he added a 66-yard receiving touchdown and finished with 71 yards on four catches.
Insight: The Titans fell behind 24-0 and had to air it out. Johnson has been terrible running the ball this season, picking up a total of 366 yards and zero TDs on 115 carries (3.2 ypc). However, the team opposed some tough run defenses early this season -- it faced Pittsburgh, Houston, San Diego, the New York Jets, Kansas City, Seattle and San Francisco the first seven games -- and will now take on St. Louis, Jacksonville, Indianapolis twice and Oakland over the next five games. The time is now to buy low on Johnson, especially since Tennessee has a bye in Week 8.
10/10/2013 5:56:00 PM
Description: Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains says the team needs to get Chris Johnson more involved in the passing game, according to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com.
Insight: Fantasy owners would appreciate that since Johnson has rushed for just 294 yards and no touchdowns on 94 carries, including 38 yards on 25 carries the last two weeks. Johnson did have four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Chiefs, but he only has eight receptions for 75 yards all season. We still like Johnson to pick up his production when the Titans play at St. Louis, versus Jacksonville, versus Indianapolis, at Oakland and at Indianapolis from Weeks 9-13, but he'll have to muddle through matchups at Seattle and versus San Francisco the next two weeks. Some designed pass plays for Johnson would help.
